Best breakfast I've ever had! Everything tasted fresh and high quality. The bacon was incredible, and the fruit was actually fresh, not an afterthought like it is at so many places. The black coffee was a little on the acidic side for my taste, but the lattes were amazing. They make their own syrups and sauces, which really sets them apart. I've been here a couple times to get breakfast with a friend. It's very cute inside and is a great stop on a walk! I've sampled the bread at the downtown market and really enjoyed it. Both times I've been here, I've gotten a pastry and hot chocolate. The pastries are great and if you're lucky, they have discounted day-olds. They offer to warm them up and I would definitely take them up on the offer. The hot chocolate is definitely on the more milky side so younger children may not have the desired taste but for adults it's more mild and not too sweet. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive and make the overall experience really pleasant. read more

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in the Grand Rapids area! It's within walking distance from my boyfriend's apartment and has quality service and good food! It's a cafe style place and you put your order in and then can go ahead and seat yourself. If you ordered a drink they will call your name at the counter but if you ordered food you will receive a number and the food runners will find you once your meal is ready. On the weekends this place is popping! Thankfully we usually can find a place to sit. My go to order usually consists of a mocha latte with the biscuit sandwich. The biscuit sandwich is soooo good! A house made biscuit with soft scrambled eggs, cheese, spinach, and bacon on it! Can't go wrong. This comes with a delicious salad but for a few dollars more you can get potatoes instead which i almost always do. Love it here and definitely recommend if you're looking for a delicious breakfast that's relatively fast and easy. read more

We had a fabulous carryout lunch here while spending a few days in the area for family vacation. I found the spot on Yelp after searching healthy lunch options. I thoroughly enjoyed my pumpkin latte, their Buddha bowl (filled with veggies), and falafel sandwich. The seeded bread was so good that later that night at their food hall bakery location, we picked up a loaf for the road. The space is very inviting with plentiful seating, a bustling carryout system and open kitchen/cafe concept. Highly recommend! read more

I can only give a review based off of the rhubarb danish that I had. My colleague bought some pastries from the farmers market and brought some to our office to try. I picked the rhubarb danish and it was phenomenal. The rhubarb was perfectly tart, the cream cheese filling tamed down the tartness, and the pastry was so crispy and flaky and perfection. This one pastry has me wanting to travel from Muskegon to GR just to try more. I also had a bite of the lemon poppyseed muffin and it was spectacular. Annnnd I tried a bite of the double chocolate muffin, which was also amazing. Wishing I was closer to Field & Fire now. BUT I will make the trek there! read more

Stopped in for lunch after a mid morning walk along the river. Tried their lunch special 1/2 grilled cheese with the lentil soup and a caramel carrot cake latte, everything was delicious. Field and fire is one of my current favorites for brunch or lunch at the moment. If you are in the downtown area, want a place near the River, are vegan or GF this is my recommendation. The chai oatmilk latte is my favorite here, it's always nice and strong with the cinnamon :D Food wise: I actually really like their Vegan grilled cheese, it's sweet and savory at the same time and you can get it GF too. As other Yelpers have mentioned it can be a little heavy on the oily side, just an FYI. (The sandwiches are pretty big so they're great for sharing!) The soups are hearty and delicious, the ginger carrot one I loved (not on the menu right now) and the ajiaco is delicious too! Cup size is perfect! I know they have a lunch special deal too so it's nice so you try different things. Ambiance & Service: This is one of the places that can fill up really quick so it's recommended to go early before the rush comes in. Seating is available and it's pretty comfortable with just one other person or a group of four. It's very relaxing. For the service they are always so kind, just note that the Baristas can be a little bit more spicy so good luck if you want to ask them something. Overall, it's always a good time if you want to go with someone to enjoy yourself a nice meal with some heartier, healthier options. read more

Walk up and order, grab your condiments and return your plates etc. As others have mentioned a nice self service vibe. There was an unfortunate incident with our order being lost (tickets not getting to kitchen so hopefully that big is fixed) and unfortunately no one realized we weren't getting food but the ladies behind the counter were very apologetic and made the situation right, and got our food on the fly so it quickly was resolved. The menu overall was mouth watering, lots of yummy options- also some vegan and GF options if I remember. I got the hot mess Scramble which was tasty, I did enjoy adding the founders hot sauce for an extra kick. My wife got the breakfast burrito which surprisingly was a little bland. Lots of unique and tasty pastry and breakfast options: she raves about the zucchini bread. The cafe itself was pretty busy with alot off coffee people working on laptops and did offer a few outside tables. Definitely worth a try! read more

We came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was swamped and chaotic. The line to order was to the door, the line to pick up coffee orders was overflowing to the point you couldn't walk through to the other side of the restaurant, there were no more tables for dine-in available, but there was a wide open bar (section not currently open due to Covid). When we got to the order counter we were told that masks were REQUIRED to be worn, even though the sign on the door said optional, based on vaxxed status. The customer service otherwise was pretty good. The food was okay - my sandwich was greasy, and a bit hard to eat because the bread was very tough. I ended up just picking out the inside ingredients. Our coffee and tea drinks were delicious. I do enjoy their baked goods, but I doubt I'll come back for food. read more

What a fantastic breakfast! My wife and I went here to pick up some amazing sourdough bread and couldn't resist staying for breakfast. I had the local bacon and egg biscuit, and my wife had the hot mess scramble bowl. It was delicious, the biscuit was nice and flaky and super flavorful and the combination of eggs, bacon, and gruyere cheese was scrumptious. I had a few bites of my wife's breakfast and it was also amazing. The breakfast potatoes were also really good. Whether you need coffee, baked goods, or a nice breakfast, this is the place! First dining experience in Grand Rapids and it set the bar right above average for your hipster/updated breakfast cafe. I was pleased with the ordering service and overall service at the table. The "grab your own condiments and water" style of dining simply sets the vibe and not the service expectations. I feel as if this keeps the consumer aware of their waste - which is a positive for me. Many food items have Latin flare but the flavors don't own it. The chorizo in the burrito wasn't seasoned enough. Almost as if they tried to do something different to chorizo - simply don't. There were more potato's than anything in both of our dishes, which made the burrito a bit boring and difficult considering the size of the potato cuts. The bowl however was great and the texture of everything was nice, I do like crispy potatoes, but it's noticeable that the burrito and bowl are nearly identical in every way in terms of ingredients. For the bakery side, we ordered a butter croissant. It was tremendously flakey, exactly how a croissant should be. My only pick is it was still slightly doughy in the middle but it may be from the butter. read more

Came here for the first time to order takeout. Nice place with maybe a half dozen tables for dine in (during covid). I know they do their bread well from when I've visited their downtown market location. Couldn't decide on a salad (a few choices on their menu) or a sandwich (several choices). Chose the falafel with a side salad (vs chips). The sandwich was simply scrumptious! Loved the toast on the seeded bread, and the falafel was crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. Delicious! The side salad was nice with the filling sandwich and came with a nice lemon vinaigrette dressing. Great place for a coffee and pastry or lunch or both! This place is a neat little coffee shop with great brunch options! I always prefer non-chain coffee shops and this one is definitely a great one! We stopped in to meet some friends on a Sunday on the way back to Southeast Michigan. It was incredibly busy due to church getting out, but luckily we found a table. They have a bunch of different sweet snacks, full meals, and drink options. We didn't get any food unfortunately, because we had ate at the hotel prior, but will definitely get some food next time! I got their homemade coffee and my fiance got the green tea (in the picture attached). They made quite the presentation for the tea! Even my coffee was pretty cool because it came in this very large mug. It created quite the buzz for me to drive home from Grand Rapids.
