i'm a delivery driver and i just had to sit here for 30 minutes after being told 15 then when asked how much longer, the cashier decides to get a attitude and walk away and ignore me. i waited another 5 minutes and left. whole time they had 3 orders total including mine for this 40 minutes and couldn't push one out highly dony recommend as a driver or customer. should really close since nothing is a priority here and workers have terrible attitude.
Ok so I've only visited Juju Bird once....and I'm a really picky wing person...in fact I had almost given up on searching for wings in GR until my best friend from Miami visited me and said we should try Juju Bird?! Isn't that sad? Haha I've NEVER had garlic Parmesan wings like this! It blew my mind. The wings were drenched in a very rich and flavorful sauce.....BUT, they weren't soggy and gross like I expected them to be. I don't know how they do it? They were still cooked well and crispy? How Juju...How??!! I don't care, it was very tasty! I will be back for more. I want to keep it classic and sample their spicy wings and some of their sides....SYOY!
Best hot chicken sandwich I've tried so far (and I've been to the popular Hattie B's in Nashville TN). It's messy, but everything was great on it - the bun never got soggy, the spice was great on the chicken, the flavor was great on the chicken, slaw and sauce. I was impressed. It might be a good thing I live 3hrs away or else I'd be getting this every week. :)) I definitely have make another excuse to visit Grand Rapids so I can stop by to have another hot chicken sandwich! ;))
Juju Bird is a new fried chicken counter at the Downtown Market. I've been following their progress on social media for weeks and have been so excited for them to open. I love Nashville hot chicken and try it anywhere I can but no place in town really got it right...until now! Juju Bird offers sandwiches, traditional and boneless wings, chicken tenders, chicken pieces, sides, and birdy cones, which are waffles cones full of fried chicken and deliciousness like ranch, bacon, Mac and cheese, etc. We stopped in on their opening day and ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich (comes with curly fries) and a 12 piece boneless wing. You can make it a combo for $4 more, which adds a drink from their cooler (Brix sodas and bottled water) and a side. They have 3 hot sides, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, and curly fries. You can also pick cold sides from the cooler. They have other sauces you can choose like honey BBQ, garlic Parmesan, Buffalo Bleu, teriyaki Fiya and something called SO CLUCKIN' HOT in addition to the Nashville hot. I tried to get the So Cluckin Hot because other Nashville hot chicken in town is never spicy enough! Fortunately I wasn't clear when I ordered and got all Nashville hot instead. The food took a bit to come out but it was so worth it! The boneless wings were SUPER crispy and covered in actually spicy, Nashville Hot oil! I was so glad I didn't get the super hot ones because they probably would have been too spicy for me. If you don't like spice, do not get the Nashville hot! It's hotter than any other place I've had it here in GR. If you've been to Hattie B's, Juju Bird's Nashville hot is about the same as their medium level. The chicken is amazing quality, super juicy and tender and not chewy or tough at all. The sandwich was also good but pretty big to eat gracefully. The boneless wings were definitely the favorite. The Mac and cheese and fries were both pretty good but nothing too spectacular. My five stars is all for the boneless wings! Total for everything was close to $30 so a little pricey but we would split something next time. I will absolutely be back! If you like fried chicken, spicy food, or Nashville hot chicken, definitely check out Juju Bird.
As a visitor to Grand Rapids, I had to check out their Downtown Market, and I was amazed by the variety of food choices in the area. This place stood out to me as the best. I have tasted many amazing Chicken Sandwiches being from Chicago and this place can easily rank among the best in the Midwest. I love spicy food so I had to get the Hot Chicken Sandwich, which comes with fries. It was so tender and juicy and it was a big chunk of chicken. You can see it was freshly made/made to order. Also, I tried their chicken special of their leg and thigh with parmesan garlic sauce on the side for 5 dollars. It was good too. The sauce was excellent. The service here was amazing with the cashier and chef being patient and diligent with my questions and making my food. I will definitely come back here again whenever I'm in Grand Rapids. Definitely a must try when in town!
We are on the hunt for the best wings in Grand Rapids, and Juju Bird did not disappoint. The sauces are the best we've tried, especially Parmesan Garlic!!! Buffalo, teriyaki, and honey bbq were all wonderful as well. The ranch is delicious and the wings stayed hot for the 10 minute drive home. Unfortunately, the skin of the wings was a little tough, but we think that's because of being in the to-go container for the drive. Also, we typically bake our wings at home, so I think I just forgot what a deep-fried wing tastes like. We also thought the boneless wings were great. We chose Juju's to try this go-around because they note that their chicken is raised naturally on local farms, and it definitely tasted of higher quality compared to your average cheap wing joint. We ordered over the phone, but they also have online ordering which is convenient. Don't forget, parking at the downtown market is free if you spend less than 30 minutes (unless it's changed)!
We were excited to stop in and try the newest restaurant at the downtown market! The service wasn't the fastest but I'll never complain if the quality is above average. The spicy chicken sandwich was fantastic as well as the curly fries. We also had 6 classic wings with the teriyaki fiya sauce, which definitely had a kick to it. She didn't ask if I wanted ranch/blue cheese and I didn't realize until we found a table upstairs. The menu only listed an dipping sauce option for 12 wings but I should have asked. I believe they would have charged 50 cents for additional sauces. The wings were nothing special and the meat had too much of a bite to it. The sandwich however, was fantastic. We look forward to trying to Mac and cheese waffle cone next time. The macaroni salad and Mac and cheese were both very tasty. The combo deal is definitely worth it!
After walking around the downtown market several times, I could not decide where I wanted to eat. I ended up choosing this place because it sounded good, but honestly every place sounded good. Maybe I did just want chicken. Service was normal. I got an order of 4 wings (each wing is a full wing, drum attached to flat) and an order of fries. I got the hot teriyaki flavor. It was so good! Not overly spicy, a good kick on your tongue but it all depends on your spice tolerance. I would say my spice tolerance is about a 6/10. I agree with other reviews that the wings could be bigger and the temperature of the wings could be warmer. Flavor was spot on though and their fries were amazing. I'll say their fries sold me on being so crispy, especially for being thick cut fries. The negative is that they're called seasoned fries on the menu but there was barely seasoning on them.
This last time I went to JuJu bird the fries were fried so hard they were inedible. It was half off bone in wings so I got an order of those and they were decent; definitely not jumbo though. The flavor was good and my husband adores the mashed potatoes and gravy but the fries...they need to work on getting those figured out - especially for $4!

Overall decent experience for my first time. The fries were yummy and crispy. But enough of the jargon... let's get to the real business. For any spice lovers out there, I WARN YOU to be careful with the Cluckin' hot sauce. After trying their Cluckin' Hot Sandwhich, I literally thought I was dying. Being of Asian descent, I LOVE hot n spicy stuff, and have some type of decently spicy sauce (habanero, ghost, and sometimes reaper pepper sauces) every single day.. They really weren't kidding when they said that the sandwich was an 11/10 hot.. because I feel like I'm on cloud nine from that spice high after taking 2 small bites, and it's been 10 minutes since that.. sweating as I type this out, nostrils are flowing, the pain could be described as biting onto a molten rock of lava, I'm hanging on by a thread. Maybe I'm overreacting.. maybe I'm just a wuss and really can't handle as much spice as I thought I could.. but upon looking at the JuJu Bird Profile on the Downtown GR Market website, the website says quote: "Most of their sauces are created in-house including the Garlic Parm and the SOCLUCKIN' HOT, which is so spicy, it's more of an extreme challenge than a meal! " More of an extreme challenge than a meal?? You bet ya I'll take up on that challenge, regardless if I must sacrifice my hole or replace my toilet.. Would totally recommend 10/10! read more
Always a good choice to grab chicken from Juju Bird. The boneless wings are large, meat is not too moist & not too dry. The portions are large. Handcut style fries hit the spot; the only complaint I'd have is that they're way too salty for me. You can't go wrong with their Seoul Sticky sauce, it's like a Gochujang flavored bbq sauce. read more

Located in the Downtown GR Market. It was reasonably priced for a restaurant in the market. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich and I should add that I've never had Nashville hot chicken so I have nothing to compare it to. But it was any hotter and I wouldn't have enjoyed it but the cole slaw on top helps it go down better. The chicken was perfectly cooked as well but I'm not sure how I feel about the sandwich being two chicken fingers and not one big piece of chicken- not graceful to eat at all. But great flavor and like I said the chicken was tender, juicy and cooked to perfection! For $10 the sandwich also comes with curly fries which were nothing special but not bad plus I can rationalize paying $10 more. I would definitely check out juju bird again as fried chicken has my heart. Next time I look forward to trying some wings. read more

So glad to finally try this cool addition to the Downtown Market! I ordered the three piece fried chicken combo with curly fries. The combo deal was a great deal because once you pick your chicken, for only four dollars more you can choose from any of the hot sides (which range from 3-4 dollars) and get a bottled drink from the cooler. I chose a side of curly fries with my meal, which were served generously in a separate basket from my chicken. This all rang in at $11- which I thought was super reasonable for the area. I ordered my chicken "Juju Butter" style because I was too chicken (get it?) to try the Nashville Hot based on other reviews! The whipped butter was sinfully delicious with just a touch of sweetness. It was a little weird dunking something in straight up butter, but it tasted exactly as good as dunking something in butter sounds. The flavor was on point, but the texture of the butter was a little bit too hard. Overall, though, very yummy. The chicken was good as well. It was greasy but not overly so, and the flavor was good and the skin was perfectly crispy. The three wing meal with the curly fries was SO MUCH FOOD. I'm so glad I only got three pieces! I couldn't finish it all by myself. I would definitely visit Juju Bird again. I'm curious about their wings and overall just want to explore more of their menu (maybe next time I'll be brave enough to try the Nashville Hot style!) The two staff working at the counter were super nice and helpful when I was trying to choose what to order. It was a great experience and definitely worth the stop if you are looking for some good comfort food in the Downtown Market. read more
I just had a real craving for wings and when this popped up in Hot and New, I knew I'd have to try them. I got the 6 boneless with buffalo bleu sauce combo (mac n cheese + Brix) and it was rather lovely! They were possibly the best boneless wings I've ever had in terms of texture and chicken flavor, the buffalo sauce and blue cheese was on point, and the mac n cheese complimented it quite nicely. I'm definitely interested to coming back to try some of their other selections. read more
My boyfriend and I have been anticipating this opening! I love the variety of quality lunch spots available in the downtown market and we certainly needed a solid fried chicken joint downtown. The wings were the highlight! The breading was light but crispy and doesn't fall off while you eat. The sauces were the best part and they have a var. We ordered Nashville hot and parm garlic. Nashville hot was yummy but not spicy at all so I will look forward to trying their so cluckin hot! The parm garlic was superb in all its creaminess!!! Wings were respectable and if I had to rate them I give them a 7/10. We also ordered a Ultimate Chicken Sandwich. It had fried chicken, pickles, egg and bacon with a spicy garlic mayo and came with a side of curly fries. The sandwich was visually very pleasing. It is hugeee which makes it a little difficult to eat but they were generous with portions. I felt that the bun sort of overwhelmed the flavors and I didn't quite pick up the spicy garlic mayo at all. However, the breading of the chicken was still delightful. Both of us LOVED the fries. Sandwich gets a 6/10. Frankly, the chicken itself is cooked perfectly! I saw that you can order a whole bird and I would love to try it sometime with juju butter! I might bring one to Friendsgiving because I think it would be a great addition. The biggest thing that stood out negatively was the time it took to get our food (15-20 minutes). However, they are brand new and I'm sure working out some kinks. Hopefully in a week or so they are a bit more snappy otherwise I'm worried the time sensitive lunch crowd will be left dissatisfied. Best wishes to this new business. I'll be back and you should certainly give it a try! UPDATE: I just tried a side of so cluckin hot and it's fantastic! Extremely spicy!! read more

Terrific spot in DT Market... several great items to order. I've had the Chicken Sandwich before, pretty solid. These wings are pretty good also. For boneless wings, the size of these are large.. nearly double the size of a BWW wing. I also wish they didn't overly sauce the wings, personal preference. Overall still a solid meal. read more
This place is chik-fil-a comparable. There is so much chicken compared to the breading I love it. Also, the ranch has a hint of dill in it which makes it one of the better doing sauces out there. This is a great place to grab a lunch and eat up stairs for a little date. I'll be back to this place soon. read more

I've been back to Juju bird almost every time I stop by the Downtown Market! Dips are great! Honey mustard is the best I've ever had! I would highly suggest upgrading to the Parmesan garlic fries for the extra dollar. Friendly staff, and pretty good chicken! Can border on the dryer side but the dips always make up for it. read more

The chicken wings were so small and dry, no flavor. The teriyaki fiya sauce is fermented and sour like it's been left out and old. My 7yo son wouldn't even eat it, he said the sauce was sour and the wings were hard. Look at the picture, the wing is literally the length of 2 quarters and we paid almost $20 for this. So disappointing. Never going there again, sorry. read more
