I ordered the mini-monkey bread (pictured), essentially a biscuit dappled with cinnamon sugar streusel. I didn't love it; I thought it tasted too salty. Still, I finished it so it couldn't have been that bad! I ordered the Breakfast Quesadilla (eggs, chiles, cheese, onions, drizzled with avocado cream and served with red salsa), which was very good. Harumy checked on me, and brought the check promptly. You pay at the counter, not directly to the server. I would have given 4.5 stars but Yelp doesn't enable this, so I rounded up to 5 stars. Definitely give Bluebird Cafe a try!

I had to ask the hostess to ask our waitress to bring our drinks because we never saw our waitress again after placing our order. She brought the waters and 1 minute later our food arrived lukewarm. The potatoes were not cooked. We were never checked on again. Then the check came, but the extra bacon I ordered "to go" had not arrived. So she went to get that. We paid at the front with the hostess. It was an extra $5 for 2 pieces of bacon. $2.50 per slice. Is that inflation or price gouging? This is the first time in my life I have never left a tip. I'm usually a really good tipper. And I feel bad about it, but I also want to be taken care of in order to give a tip for good service. This was not good service and the food was mediocre. The scrambled eggs and potatoes were well prepared and enjoyable and my spouse was satisfied with their dish except how her lettuce and tomatoes were soggy. Unfortunately the chicken fried chicken was undercooked. At the time I didn't immediately realize this as the texture seemed soft due to the gravy. It wasn't until later that I recognized the issue and I ended up feeling unwell after the meal. This was very disappointing and ultimately impacted my overall experience. While the service and ambiance were strong positives the food safety concern is significant. I hope the restaurant takes extra care in the kitchen moving forward.

Scotch for her part said her Floridian French Toast was eye-poppingly good, even if it had too much fruit for me. The service was good--a bit too mindful sometimes, but I'd rather have someone who comes around a bit too often than not. We also liked that they leave the carafe of coffee at the table as that's usually what we need the most, refills. That's why I feel they could stand to come a bit less since they solved the refill problem. The ambience is great. I love the idea of community tables and wooden booths and tables everywhere. I also liked seeing the place but not super-packed so you can't get a seat quickly. Sometimes I think with breakfast places, they strive for lines out the door constantly, but I prefer a place that hovers at that good 70% to 80% capacity mark. I like being able to sit when I want to come but the place still doing well enough to be thriving. All in all, this place is great and I hope California gets their location soon.

And we don't mind waiting, because we absolutely love this place.
