Birthday perk not honoured--embarrassing experience I visit the Central Library a lot and there is Blenz inside the atrium. Thought I'd redeem my birthday treat via the app this afternoon and was told point blank: "We don't give birthday treats here." No apology. No attempt to make it right. Just a direction to walk ten blocks to the Granville & Davie location if I wanted my free drink. There were couple customers behind me, so the whole thing was awkward and embarrassing. It genuinely put a damper on my birthday. Other coffee chains let you redeem birthday perks at any location. If Blenz isn't going to honour them at all stores, the app should flag that--don't let customers find out the hard way. Pretty ridiculous. read more

I brought my overseas relatives to Vancouver Public Library as the library was one of the tourist attractions. They requested to have a coffee and eat some snacks, so we dropped by Blenz and bought some drinks and food. The drinks including mine (which was a toffee nut mocha) were great, but the food or snacks such as banana loaf, samosas and sausage roll were not good. That's how I came up with three stars only. The baked and crispy samosas and sausage roll were in a fridge, so the server had to heat them up for us. Unfortunately all these crispy and baked food were heated up in a microwave. The microwave made the crispy food soaky that ruined the food itself. Very disappointed! The server or Blenz should heat up their crispy or baked food in a small oven or a toaster. This way could prevent ruining the good food. It was great to have seats and tables inside and outside the coffee shop. The coffee shop was spacious and it had similar interior design as other Blenz branches. I would not want to come back here for a coffee or snacks. Sorry! read more

Staff was nice, and I like the location - great to grab something quick before heading to the library. I did not like my drink at all. I got an Iced Americano black, and I don't know if it was their beans, but I couldn't even finish it. read more

Located just in the main entry to the Public Library. Staff was pleasant and helpful when I asked about their chai. Neat snacks and food, too. Sausage and chicken rolls(?) were different, but ok. Decent seating options around the back, too. read more

Place is a bit of a mess. No one seems particularly happy to be there. Had an iced mocha and it was one of the worst I've tried at a coffee shop. Recommend their latte or just regular drop instead. I will never go to Starbucks if I'm ever in West Canada again! Got the London fog slightly sweetened and the milk hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is absolutely the best! It's smooth and doesn't leave a residue feeling in your mouth like most hot chocolates do. Not too sweet and not bitter, also just the right amount of milk! read more

Friendly, nice location and good wifi. Pretty busy place, right in the main library building. What I like is that you can go outside in their covered patio (the ceiling is about 20 m up) and enjoy an "outdoor" coffee in dry. They're also good to wait for the library to open and usually are much less crowded than the nearby Starbucks. Last, a big shout out for having a sane wifi approach, unlike all the other Blenz's. They'll tell you the password which doesn't change. You still have to login via Blenz's oft-annoying registration system, but at least you are not begging for little strips of paper with cryptic cr*p on them. read more

This is a long over due review but must be mentioned. Blenz..my weekend go to when studying at the library. Friendly service as usual. But this experience was even better! I ordered a regular hot chocolate and a family after me had ordered the same drink for their kids. Long story short, the family had received half of their drinks and the manager noticed I hadn't received mine. We learned that the kids took my drink by accident. Both mother and manager aplogized but I was barely bothered by it. As an apology, the manager made me a medium size instead of the regular and apologized again. I was thrilled obviously, but way more impressed by his great customer service over a mix up that he didnt do. Thank you Blenz manager!! read more

One time the barista didn't start my drink until 2 or 3 other people received theirs, then I scoffed (I'm impatient okay!), another time she made the wrong drink, and another time it would horribly cold. I think she learned her lesson now...Other than that the men here know how to make a matcha latte (and yes, you can put hearts on my drink anytime...). The baristas here also consistently make a good tea latte. I know, it's not that hard, but some other places don't know the correct water/milk ratio...also I think they know my drink now, which is embarrassing. This Blenz is full of international studies and their tutors, people plugged into their laptops, people taking their lunch breaks, et cetera. Some sketchies come and ask for water, I believe they said it was a quater...but sometimes they give it out for free. All the people working are friendly. read more

Dirty. Everywhere dirty. I'm not anti-homeless because in fact for me to buy a latte is a rare treat too, however, when I go to a place that is selling me a small latte for nearly $4.00, I expect to be able to enjoy it without being harrassed by these people or watch them drink their $1.50 McDonalds latte at the table beside me and then ask me for change. I thought inside would be much better but you can tell that they have done a mediocre job of painting and interior design. It's kind of a mix of the old-school Blenz with ... I don't even know. Why don't Blenz feel the same from store to store? and why don't they use a small part of that army of staff to wipe some tables and sweep muffin crumbs? If I wanted a hot drink and a dirty table I could have gone to any other place and paid much less. I hope I caught this place on a bad day but after having spoken to others who live around there they said it has always been like that and you just have to accept it. Actually, no I don't. Oh yeah. Just to cap it off, if you happen to need to use the washroom like I did it's down two flights of stairs and I got to watch some dude take a bath in the sink. Nice! I'd give 3 stars for the drink but the rest of the experience just forced it back down. read more

NEVER AGAIN $6 cup of disappointment and frustration. The barista wasn't familiar with the menu, didn't blend the drink I ordered blended, blamed it on me when it didn't come out right "you should have ordered _______ instead" and then was reluctant to fix it "Can I just give you extra ice on the side instead?" If I could rate this place a zero, I would do it in a heartbeat. For such a central area you think they would keep it clean! It's the dirtiest Blenz I have ever seen. If anyone asked me, I would tell them not to come to this one and head over to the one on Seymour as it's the closest from this awful place. Every Latte I have ever had tasted different and the experience and customer care just isn't there........ever. How about less jokes and chit chat amongst each other and more customer care. I even saw someone reuse coffee grinds that were on the counter, scraped it with their hands. Terrible location with sour tasting coffee.......... Never go here! Go to the one on Richards or Seymour if you're in the area, much friendlier there and way better consistent lattes. read more

I would have given this place a three or so if not for my experience some time back. The incident happened when I ordered a latte and as I was putting a lid on it at the counter, one of the Blenz employees ran into me, spilling the entire drink and its just-made hot contents all over my exposed skin and dress (it was summer). As I stood there in shock, wondering out loud if there is a bathroom or something, one of the other employees proceeded to tell me they only had an employee bathroom. The guy who ran into me was very apologetic and promptly took me there to clean up. My skin was red from the hot drink. Obviously, this was quite an event and the entire coffee shop noticed what happened. However, no manager was in sight. After I cleaned up as much as I could, I was told I would be reimbursed for my drink (woo-hoo). So I asked to speak with the manager and only then did she come out. My dress was covered in coffee, my skin was red and I still had work to go back to. I asked what she could do about all this and she said the most they could do is reimburse me for dry cleaning. That's nice, but I was still at work and couldn't come back to the office and continue with my day in this state. I bought a cream for the burn (it was reimbursed after I insisted on it) and drove back home to Burnaby to change. I was lucky I didn't have meetings with my customers that day. I was disappointed I wasn't offered an option of being reimbursed for a change of shirt or my lost time at work because of the incident. However, the biggest disappointment was the indifference I felt from the manager. She didn't ask if I was OK or if I needed help. Just coldly listed the rules. I don't know the exact words on how to describe the worse quality of the drink and the unthinkable services they provided me with. First, I ordered a dark mocha and I had to wait about 7 minutes for my drink and there were 5 people working at the same time and there wasn't a huge line up. So finally, my drink shows up and after I taste it, there was no espresso in it, so it was just a plain dark chocolate. I asked the employee to remake my drink because it was the WRONG drink and here's how the employee reacted: he asked me to just take the drink because 1. I already took a sip. 2. according to him, they were busy at the moment (at that time there was about 6 customers waiting) and I replied, no please just make the drink and I will wait. So I did for another 15 minutes. This is what happened while I was waiting. The customers that were waiting got their drinks first (all 6 of them) and the exact same guy comes and says to me "what drink are you waiting for?" And at that time I was a bit frustrated so I told him the exact conversation that we had 15 minutes ago. And without even a "sorry" or an apology, he just stared at me and I literally went up to another employee and asked to remake the drink. SURPRISINGLY they told me to pay up for the same exact drink. So i explained the situation, and when I finally asked for the manager, that's when "things" got serious and made my drink. So basically I wasted 30 minutes just standing there. Finally I got my drink and it was warm. I just got fed up, took the drink and just dumped it in the garbage and left WORST BLENZ EVER. It is located near the entrance of the public library. The location is perfect. But their latte art is not impressive.

Good matchas and real hot chocolates (made with chocolate chips and milk, not an ultra sweet instant mix and hot water). Friendly staff and quiet location. They could improve on efficiency : the service is a little slow (particularly for food). read more

This is a great Blenz location! The baristas are friendly and they really know their stuff. This store is also clean and inviting considering where it is located. Food options are great, I absolutely loved my croissant! The coffee was fresh and tasted great, as Blenz coffee always does. I would recommend visiting this store, I will be back for sure. I don't know what other people on here are talking about. I had a great experience at this Blenz. I ordered a caramel café latte machiatto and it tasted amazing. The barista even did a cool spider web design with the caramel sauce. I thought the service was prompt and friendly and the coffee shop has a good overall vibe to it. read more
