I came here with a few friends after a 12hr night shift hungry, and looking for some breakfast. The minute we walked in the door, we were greeted warmly by staff behind the counter. The space was calm but welcoming and not too busy despite being around 730am. I decided to order the ham and egg croissant sandwich along with a hot chocolate. Given we all ordered at once, the staff asked us to grab a seat and they would call us when our orders were ready. To our surprise, the staff actually brought over our orders when they were ready, insisting that we wait at our table rather than coming up to the counter to collect our orders ourselves. This was above and beyond what they needed to do, and they were incredibly friendly. As for the food, the ham and egg croissant was the perfect mix of crispy exterior, soft interior and a wonderful blend of flavour. The eggs were fluffy and light and the ham was flavourful, but not overly salty. The hot chocolate was delicious and was the perfect way to end my day. I will definitely be back again soon to try more of their menu offerings! read more

Their coffee is great. Artigiano also has a nice environment. A nice cozy feel to it. Their service is great. I've gone on multiple occasions to buy coffee beans from them and when I've bought 2 bags at once, they've given me a free drink (latte) which was so sweet! Their prices are reasonable for coffee. This place has decent service whenever the owner is absent. She chats with the person in front of you in line before taking their order. She insists on operating the POS, though is less than adept with the technology and therefore slow. Then I order a medium roast "we don't have but I can make some" no thx, dark roast "same, would you like an americano?" OK I guess. Now I am in line for the only barista to fulfil an order ahead of me when I should be already out the door. Boss lady doesn't convey either of my instructions "to go" or "small" to the barista. Yikes. Whats more, this is the highest price coffee of all in the heights. read more

Our Americano's arrived with a decent amount of creme on top. Although the notes of the bean were muted. Each barista's pour is different at this location which makes for an inconsistent experience. So you never know what to expect. We were there a couple of days in a row. On the first visit, the tension between the staff was palpable, and they weren't treating each other very well. read more

This location is very convenient so I occasionally stop by for a Spanish latte. My review is for my most recent experience. Service was crap and the baristas lack common sense. I tried using my $10 gift card and the computer was being slow so the barista tells me, "I'm not sure if this is going to work, is there actually money on this card?" It eventually went through. After ordering I waited awhile for my drink, then saw the cafe was getting busy so I went and grabbed a seat while there were still spots available. I kept going back to the counter to check on my drink and still nothing. I ended up waiting 25 minutes for my drink, and I shit you not, this was the ugliest drink I've ever seen. They ran out of clean dishes so they served my hot chocolate in a huge mug and didn't even give me a saucer. Since it was such a big mug, they only filled my drink 3/4 of the way and I couldn't even lick the whipping cream off the top. I borrowed a saucer from the couple sitting next to me to try and take a nice pic, but it was hopeless. I ended up asking another barista to re-make my drink in a to-go cup, which they should've done in the first place. Passionfruit hot chocolate: dark chocolate and house made passionfruit syrup blended with oat milk, topped with passionfruit cheesecake whipped cream & served with a passionfruit cookie. North Burnaby location - not a great way to start my morning with an attitude barista because I asked for an extra shot in the Americano - what I got was "so how many shots do you want then (insert attitude)?" in which I responded with how many are in it? according to their sign there Is only one size. He informed me the sign is wrong. I should have cancelled my order that also included a bag of espresso beans and walked out. Won't be back to that location! Really horrible service. There was no line behind me and the cashier was just a jerk because I do not know the jargon for coffee. No need for such a snobby attitude, barista. I don't usually go to Caffe Artigiano for hot beverages but this is in a hot spot in Burnaby Heights. I come here every now and then to get hot chocolate and sit and relax. They have big windows so if you like a lot of sun, you can sit all day with your laptop and work here. But if you're trying to stay away from the sun like I am, then this wouldn't be your spot. They offer a large seating area, good drinks and friendly customer service. read more

The one that tops the Starbucks in this city. Also the one Artigiano I know far away from downtown. I really love coming to this place, as the coffee is far up and above how Starbucks taste (Sorry to all you Starbucks addicted fiends!). And the place itself has a great feel, from the high ceilings, to the wood finish, and the very friendly staff, there are many things to like. The area where this place is located has definately grown in the last 10 years (Willingdon & Hastings), and continues to this day with new businesses and building being raised. I sometimes make the effort to actually come here, when I want a good coffee. The prices are a little higher than Starbucks, but the quality alone makes up for it, and you get a great place to sit around (very big and spacious inside), a handful of seats on the street, with tons of free street parking. They do not open late though, I think only up to 9, or 10 at the latest. read more

As a result, there is a pile of seating, which is good. However, this place does NOT provide Wi-Fi. This is a big one. Looks like staying here for extended periods is a bad idea. Something to keep in mind, which is quite surprising. Minus 1 star. Lastly, my coffee tasted burnt. Ugh. Subtract another star. Guess I'll be hanging out at Waves across the street. read more

I always like this location more than others. It has 2 levels of seating with outside seating as well. The coffee is not bad. Staff are nice and helpful. Music and ambience is not bad either. Great place to chat and read some newspapers with the hubs. We were here on a Saturday afternoon in January and there were constant amount of people coming and going. Lots of seating so I could gab away with my friend, but the barista spilled my macchiato all over his hand and the saucer when he put it on bar and didn't even remake it. After I mopped up my saucer enough and the sides of my mug, it tasted good but not really hot enough for me and most of the good bits sloshed off when he wrecked it I suppose. Theres only one working bathroom here, and people don't lock it or respond to knocking (awkward!!!) lol over all I will take a waves over this place anyday. read more

This is one of my favorite coffee shops overall but I have to drop it down to four stars now because I had a little bit of trouble on my last visit. It took a long time to order because one of the new staff had trouble understanding English. I asked them what they have to eat and they said "we have turkey". I said "what is Turkey" and she said "it's this" and pointed at large sandwich in their cooler. Then I ordered a coffee and it was extremely bitter and not very delicious compared to previous experiences. I ordered another coffee and it was better. The overall Ambience and staff are great but I think they should start hiring people that are a little more professional and speak more English in the future if they want to keep up their reputation. read more

A bright and open place. There's a few tables outside so you can enjoy the fresh air. Huge windows to let the light in and lots of room. There's Shawopen for wifi and think it's part of this place as the signal isn't that strong so could be nearby place. I only get 1-2 bars and I'm sitting inside. The people here are friendly and I always see the staff joking around with kne another and having a good time. I like that as you can see that they enjoy there job and coworkers and it flows to the customers. I've only been here a few times and find it's a good place to study, chat with friends, etc. Another thing is that I don't smell like burnt coffee when I leave. Some coffee places I've gone to, after a brief time in those places you smell like burnt coffee beans. Hopefully I'm not the only one that has notices this. read more

When I am around this area I have no doubt to swing by this coffee shop, I love their Americano Misto and their coconut bar. This would be just an a-ok from me: my Americano tasted pretty good (I didn't need to over sweeten it), the interior is spacious, location is central when meeting old friends. There's a decent amount of tables outside, but the noise of passing cement trucks, semi-trailers and buses could easily ruin a quiet morning or a chit chat with a friend. What won this Caffe Artigiano a 4th star was my trip to their loo. Spacious, clean, and what's this? The same faucet that I have at home: an open flow faucet that you can see the water running out of from the top, adorned with a handle with the same look and feel of a turn of the century pump. I was thrilled to see a branch of the Cafe Artigiano chain opened up on Hastings. It's very light and airy, especially on a sunny morning, and fits in perfectly with the Euro-Italian vibe of Burnaby Heights. Great lattes, of course, just like the original location. The blueberry muffin was a little too crumbly, however - I don't think it was just me being messy when it got all over the place. Still, I loved sitting at the sidewalk table with my hunny and coffee in the sunshine, like a Folgers ad, but with better coffee. read more

After pledging allegiance to another cafe 2 blocks east of Artigiano, I hadn't returned for a very long time to this location. We ordered an Americano and a Chai. My chai was very tasty but I heard some bitter mumblings about the Americano so I had to know how bad was this. *taste* --It was disgusting! Tasted like it was on a shelf for 6 months. That right there my friends, is the reason NOT to choose large coffee chains. The quality of the product is always low, due to a long stretch of sitting on a warehouse shelf waiting for delivery. So, because my other half is not by any stretch the outspoken type, I opted to return the (overpriced) beverage for something of better value. The hot chocolate was lovely and tasty. But this is a cafe. Cafe's should always serve high quality coffee that tastes fresh or what's the point? read more

This 'larger' version of the downtown chain is one of my favorites. Lots of room to spread out, a large room with big windows, outside patio with enough interest to warrant spending some time outside. The service here, as with most Artigianos, is always impeccable, and I love that they are just as excited about latte art as the other "higher-grossing" locales. I think this place is the sole reason I could see myself moving to Burnaby Heights some day... But, if you have read Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidental, you'll know that the washrooms are the biggest 'tell' as to the quality of the place. Definitely my favourite chain to grab my morning coffee! The staff at the Hastings location are extremely helpful and welcoming. If only the place provided complimentary wi-fi, it would easily become my favourite place to study as well! I'd suggest the Spanish Latte here. My new favorite coffee shop in the Heights. Found it via Yelp, and really glad to took a peek. No WiFi, but the staff let me know I could easily grab Safeway's (there's another, closer free WiFi that worked beautifully, too), and pointed me toward the plug ins as well. Spent an evening there (not terribly busy, and they close at 9pm, not 10pm as it states here on Yelp), and the day here today (very busy, with lineups out the door most of the morning, but passing relatively quickly). All my friends love Caffe Artigiano, and drag me along to the West Van location, where I have various tea drinks. They are always satisfactory, but keep in mind it's pretty hard to mess up tea. This past Thursday, I was headed to SFU for an early morning final, and urgently needed a lift. I stopped in here, and got a chai latte. I was surprised at the roomy interior, lots of places to sit down, study, socialize. I could see myself stopping in for a study sesh one day, if they have wi-fi. I'll be honest, I don't drink coffee. Period. Maybe that's why I don't find this place very special. If you are one of those people who LOVES coffee, I would recommend stopping by. I had a gander at the menu, and apparently their coffee is so great, they can sell a 1/2lb. bag of it for over $100. read more

The first thing I am reminded of when I entered this Caffe Artigiano is a high-class hotel from Europe. It was the aromas, the lighting, décor and atmosphere that really returned my nostalgia - one that I'll never forget. For a luxurious, classy, and delicious cup of coffee, Artigiano will satisfy your tastebuds and caffeine craving needs. I always order a Spanish latte because of its use of condensed milk (addicting), but their other hot drinks are just as worthwhile. I've never been a fan of their cold drinks because their coffee isn't meant to be drank cold! I think their drip coffee is great and staff are friendly. Comfortable atmosphere. They have Wi-Fi now. They close a bit too early, at 6pm. Maybe I'm too much of a traditionalist, but I wish they would stick to playing instrumental/jazz music. When I came in recently, there was loud Top 40 cover pop music playing, and it was impossible to concentrate on what I was doing (reading and writing). Hope they won't play that music anymore. I like all the Artigiano cafes but nothing really popped for me until a few weeks ago. I've come to this location quite a few times and its always been satisfactory. I don't know if there's a new manager or what but the service was exceptional! They were all in high spirits, tons of laughter, conversation, and were engaging the customers, which I thought was great. My Americano was really well pulled and the chocolate that I asked for was just the right amount. The place was packed, but just big enough to have a frequent turnover of seats.
