This place was awesome. The vibe, the staff, and the food were just what we wanted. I ordered the Light My Fire burger and we shared the truffle parmesan fries. The orders of fries come in big baskets to share with the table, which is sweet but also makes it harder to try different ones. Our server brought over a plate with every one of their sauces on it, which was such a cool way to try it all. The burger was delicious and not overly spicy. We were traveling back to Arkansas from St. Louis on Sunday and stopped in Springfield because this place sounded good. Listen, my husband loves hamburgers. Anywhere we go we are looking for the best hamburger. This place had the best hamburger, hands down, we've ever eaten. I got the Don't Go Bacon My Heart, which was excellent. He got the Foodie, which was amazing. We started with the You Are Smokin' fries with pulled pork. They were so good. I like my fries crispy and these were perfect. We wanted to try a shake really bad but just couldn't do it because we were so full. We went to the downtown location. The atmosphere was relaxed and very nice. Nathan was our server. The attention to food detail and server support kept us entertained throughout lunch. Parking was limited in this area would be the only drawback. (Homeless person wondering the street) Drop everyone at the door and find parking or enjoy the walk. A multitude of sauces for the fries. Consider family style dining. Order several options and divide them into half's or quarters with friends. Wasn't able to try any drink or shake options on this visit but if the attention to detail is consistent they should be awesomely delicious. The subtle nuances within the sauces or finely sliced pickle and onion. Flavor profiles were individually pronounced within all of the options we tried. We really enjoyed Black Sheep. The burger was great. It was flavorful, but not greasy. There was a good selection of unique burgers for any taste. You have to get the fries and try all of the dipping sauces. All 7 came out with the fries which had a nice crunch yet not overcooked. From the time I walked in until the time that I left the experience was great! Every employee was positive and kind. Everyone hyped this place up! I was expecting to be completely wowed, and unfortunately it fell a little short for me. We had a table of 6 on a Friday night. We knew it might be busy, but we walked in and got sat immediately. The drinks were kind of hit or miss. The baaa'garita was tasted so salty my friend and I agreed it was like drinking salt water. I got a different drink after, and it was fine but definitely didn't taste like what I ordered. After ordering entrees, it took an hour for just the burgers to come out. Fries we ordered with burgers came out 30 minutes before our burgers did. And some of the burgers were steaming hot and some were pretty cold. I will say the fries were absolutely fantastic. They were so crispy and flavorful. The burger besides being cold was also really good. The wagyu patty was so flavorful and it was cooked well. The service was fine but nothing to rave about. The real gripe from our group was that no one until the very end had told us the food is still coming they're just delayed or gave any indication the server knew we didn't have food yet. We finally got a "thanks for your patience on your food" but that was after she was collecting our cards. Overall I'd come back and try it again on a less busy day or a smaller group. read more

We stopped in for lunch during a conference in downtown Springfield, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Service was extremely slow--we arrived at noon but it took 30 minutes for our fries to arrive. By 12:45 we still hadn't received our meals. We had also placed to-go orders at the start and specifically requested they be put in at the same time, but our server forgot. On top of that, one of our meals was thrown away while she was in the bathroom after only taking one bite. The meal was replaced but delayed her from getting back to the conference on time. By 1:30, we finally had everything sorted out, but the entire experience was frustrating and far too time-consuming. A friend of mine recommended Black Sheep, specifically the one downtown. He said it was his favorite place to get a cheeseburger, so I had to try it out. I had the "don't go bacon my heart" burger. The burger and the bacon were cooked perfectly. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the bacon was cooked till just short of crispy, which, in my opinion, is perfect. All the toppings complimented it very well. My wife had the "doggie " with cheese, mustard , and ketchup. She thought it was really good. We shared a french fry, as they are big enough to share. Ours were the sea salt and pepper fries. They were crispy and seasoned right. We tried two different sauces with them, the chipotle ketchup, and the sriracha mayo. Both were good, but we liked the ketchup better. The wife had the "you're all I need" shake, minus the whisky. It was awesome! The cookie dough in it made it better than most shakes or ice cream. It was blended better and softer than most cookie dough. I had a drink called "take it easy". It was tasty and was mixed well. We got there just before it got busy, but by the time we left it was hopping. It was a cool place to hang out. The service was great and everyone there was welcoming.
