Came here on a Sunday for a later lunch and the place was pretty empty. Interior was sleek and modern with wooden finishes with plenty of lighting from the big windows by the front. Menu had a good selection of entrees which I shared everything with a friend rather than order separately. Service was solid and relatively quick. Food came out in a reasonable manner and everything tasted great - Thai tea was yummy, burger was delicious, fries were so well seasoned, and the pasta was great along with the dessert. Only complaint is portions - definitely small for what you paid for. Overall, we had a solid meal and left feeling very full. I wouldn't mind coming back, but it isn't a restaurant I'd be a regular out due to its price.

Really interesting and tasty menu. I thought the drinks would be too sweet but they were quite good. It's a busy place but you can get a reservation. It's a little tricky if you need to wait inside. The servers are on top of things but efficient as are the seatings but it was a good meal!

I had such a lovely experience here. I didn't have a reservation but was surprisingly seated instantly. The restaurant was on the smaller side and has been a hot commodity so I really wasn't expecting to land a seat on a Sunday night. The staff was super friendly and helpful with the menu, I had a couple questions. After speaking with the waiter I landed on the Massaman burger and chicken sandwich. Both were seriously UNREAL. I cannot stand dry beef or chicken and the meat itself was so moist. Once combined with their sauce...life changing. I cannot wait to go back here.

Thai Fusion? I am often skeptical when it comes to any asian fusion spots, but Black Ruby...does it VERY well. I was honestly blown away. The Massaman Burger, y'all already know that's why I came. Is it worth the hype? Some people are saying this is the best burger in Boston. Curry... and Burger? Somehow, someway... this works extremely well. That's a real good burger. I'm a huge texture person so the crunch was perfect. The curry wasn't overpowering at all. The green curry pasta was so good! The perfect spice level and the thickness of the curry stuck to the pasta perfectly. However, the steak might've been a little overcooked, in my opinion. Still good, though. Reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are allowed. I got lucky when arriving! Perfect spot for date night, and the drinks are sooo good. I got the thai tea martini and it was yummy. I'm not a big fan of an old fashioned, but it was pleasant. This might be the only place I'd voluntarily drink one.

Went here for the first time with my sister on a Saturday night. We didn't have a reservation, there was a wait but we got lucky and snagged a spot right away. The menu seems to be thai-fusion. We got the spritz with was made with thai tea and it gave it a very different taste than a typical aperol spritz. The pad thai spring rolls were tasty but left me wanting veggies. The trending massaman burger was absolutely delicious, I had never had massaman curry before but I loved it. The Green curry chicken sandwich was fantastic, the chicken was cooked wonderfully and the green curry was really good. Also their plain fries, 10/10.

We decided to go on Valentine's Day, had a reservation, went in sat down. All super great. Waitress? Awful, looked like she was not happy to be there, was annoyed when we took off our jackets because she was bringing over water so she rolled her eyes and went to talk to the host. Our food was good. The burger didn't have enough sauce it was a very thin layer of it HOWEVER the burger was amazing, toasted and super flavorful. The paste was a great amount, yummy and spicy. The mango sticky rice was honestly the best. It was sweet, moist and that ice cream on top just melted.

Visited Black Ruby today for dinner! We've been looking out for reservations throughout the week but looks like they fill up pretty quick, so we took the risk tonight & showed up walk-in. To our surprise, we were pretty much seated immediately upon arrival! We had the choice of either sitting at one of the smaller tables or by the bar. Decided to do bar seating as the table available was very small. Pretty extensive menu! LOTS of drinks. Burgers are very popular choices but if you're not feeling a burger, they have salads + pasta options too! We took our server's suggestion & ordered one burger and one pasta to share. Here's specifically what we ordered: -Thai Iced Tea (x2) -Spicy Calamari -Massaman Burger -Red Curry Bolognese There were sooo many drinks to choose from & we were very tempted to try but nothing can beat a classic Thai Iced Tea! We both got one & it was good! Not the best either of us has ever had but we also didn't expect it to be either since it's a Thai fusion spot. Not bad though... creamy! We had to order the spicy calamari because honestly, it's a must every time we go out to eat... doesn't matter where hahaha. Biggest rings of calamari both of us have seen. The calamari was a bit chewy & could've used some salt. The sweet chili house mayo sauce it came with did help a lot. The lime it came with was pretty much just decoration. Already precut & no juice unfortunately. 6.5/10. The Massaman Burger & the Red Curry Bolognese arrived to us at the same time and we tried the pasta first. We probably should've tried the burger first but oh well, next time! To us, the red curry bolognese was the most disappointing dish we ordered tonight. The sauce was super watery & all I personally could taste was tomato, nothing else. Salt + seasoning was definitely needed. I felt like this dish was very weak & wasn't tasty. Only took one bite & left the rest. Now, as for the burger... much better than the pasta. Still thought the curry needed salt but I can see the vision! The burger is already cut in half, so perfect for sharing. I liked that the burger had red onions, pickles, + supposedly crispy shallots? They added a nice crunch! I think they actually put potato chips in our burger, instead of crispy shallots lol. Not exactly sure if it was potato chips but definitely was not crispy shallots. Either way, still appreciated the extra crunch. I dipped a little bit of the house sweet chili mayo sauce from the calamari & found it to be a nice combo. Overall, not a bad spot to grab a burger! The food arrived pretty fast, we were in and out in less than an hour which was impressive considering how packed it got with the dinner rush. I don't think I'd come here often but would definitely come back again. Presentations of the food were nice but taste-wise, the food fell a little short. I was expecting a bit more umami and oomph. The fusion dishes were incredibly unique and full of flavor. I highly recommend trying the small plates--they were absolutely delicious. The scallion fries stood out as a creative and memorable dish. Service was fast and efficient, but the restaurant fills up quickly, so a reservation is definitely recommended since the space is on the smaller side. The drinks were also a bit limited as they didn't have a full bar: wine, beer or sake. However, it was a unique twist on cocktails adding sake. One note: don't underestimate the spice level-- even dishes marked with just one pepper can pack quite a kick. The pasta, in particular, was much spicier than I expected.

Street Parking Came to see what all the hype was about, was a little hesitant but I wasn't disappointed. This place has dim lighting and a bar right when you walk. We came 6 had no reservation and were seating pretty quickly but it did start getting busier after. The service was pretty quick and the dishes were presented nicely. I would come just for this one dish, it's the Mussels in Red Curry. I could drink this up, it is so good. This red curry had tomato in it so there was a little more of the sour taste. The Mushroom Coconut Chowder was a good palette cleanser, can never go wrong with a soup on the side. The one dish everyone comes for is the Massaman Beef Burger and unfortunately this wasn't a favorite. It was far too sweet for a burger making it tiring to eat all of it alone. We ended up dipping it in the curry to balance out the flavor a little, if they added more pickles I think it would've been better. The Green Curry Cream sauce was much creamier than expected and had an unexpected spice. I'm pretty good with spice so if you aren't be warned you actually can taste the spice. The beef in this was cooked really well, not too chewy, really easy to eat. The thai tea was okay, a little too tea for my liking and the Mango Sticky was good. The thyme kind of threw me off as it gave a salty flavor. Overall would go to try other dishes and the mussels again.

First off, the ambiance is great. The interior is nicely decorated with a lot of natural light, and I noticed a few people working on their laptops which gave it a relaxed feel. It's also not too loud, so it's a good spot to actually sit and enjoy your meal. As for the food, everything was solid overall, though not necessarily standout. The tom yum shrimp pasta was actually my favorite of the mains. It tasted more cheesy and slightly sweet, and I couldn't really pick up on the classic tom yum flavor but it still worked well as a dish. The shrimp itself was really tender and juicy, which made it enjoyable overall. The massaman beef burger was pretty good though a bit on the sweeter side for my taste. The presentation was stunning! The Thai garlic burger was decent, just nothing too memorable. It felt like it was missing a bit of depth and came across more like a standard burger. The larb parmesan fries and spicy calamari were my favorite. Both were really good and super flavorful. The sauces paired well with them. Overall I'd say it's a nice spot with a great atmosphere and solid food. Some dishes leaned milder in flavor, but it's still a place with highlights that make it worth checking out!

Came here on New Year's Eve and it was fantastic. The service and ambience are great, but the food was incredible! Everything came quickly and all of them were delicious. It was so exciting to try a new place and love every single menu item we tried. - The Massaman burger had an amazing balance of flavors and textures to it. Definitely want to come back to try more burgers. - The crispy scallion fries were incredible, I wasn't expecting much but they were so good. It's how I wish radish cakes would taste at dim sum, if that makes sense. - The green curry pasta was great, another great balance of textures and spice, the choice by the restaurant to go with rigatoni as the shape was excellent. - The mango sticky rice was perhaps the only thing that left something to be desired. The rice wasn't quite sticky enough and I personally prefer the dish a touch saltier, this dish was simply sweet (but not too sweet!)

TLDR: great flavor combo, it made me a burger person! And the sticky rice dessert is so worth it. This is a beautiful new restaurant on MassAve in between Harvard and Porter square. I walked in as a party of two sans reservation and we were seated immediately on a Saturday evening. Lucky us. I ordered a Thai burger whereas my friend got a pasta dish. I loved my burger and the Thai basil flavors and orange sauce (whatever it was) came through perfectly. Such a hearty meal! My friend loved her pasta and also said the flavor fusion was evident. Our dishes were: - crispy Thai burger (I think). Very reasonably priced and so yummy. Meat was perfectly cooked. Bun was so soft but not leaking sauce. - green curry cream pasta: also a huge hit and well flavored. Pasta cooked great and the sauce was a highlight. We also got a specialty dessert: sweet corn sticky rice. They normally have the sticky rice but this was a limited flavor and it was sooo yummy. Quite rich; it looks small but we were so full at this point we couldn't finish it. I'd recommend it, it wasn't too sweet!

Food and ambiance were great 5/5. We came in with a relatively large group yesterday, 7 adults two kids. The spring roll appetizer was really good as were the sriracha fries. My husband enjoyed the Khao Soi burger and I loved the tom yum pasta! The pasta was so flavorful and had a hint of tom yum that was very creatively done within a non traditional route. My review is more of a 4.5 because the service was not that attentive, couldn't really advise one of us with a dietary restriction what items would be appropriate, and then the servers didn't check in. However, food was good and ambiance was lively so I'd be willing to return in the hopes that it was just an off day for service!

Everything tasted authentic, my only qualm was paying for rice - you can't not have rice and it seems ridiculous to pay $3 for one bowl. Overall, a solid restaurant and option for Chinese food in Harvard Square.

Not spicy. Not too saucy, so you can "feel" the noodle, but I would have liked more vegetables. -- Yibin Fiery Noodles: Warm and similarly al dente, these were manageably spicy. Meat crumble, seeds or nuts, scallions, and heat. -- Red and Green Pepper Chicken: Batterless but crisp, tender, and not boneless. Relentlessly spicy from several heat sources and kaleidoscopically delicious. The closest comparison is dry hot chicken that also goes by a few other names, but this was better. Elite, and the best thing I ate in all of 2025, but sadly no longer on the menu. -- Stone Pot Tofu: Billed as Ma Po Tofu sizzling in a stone pot, but no sizzle and no stone pot. Identified as very spicy but minimally spicy and more numbing (more "ma" than "la"). I enjoyed the overall flavor (heavily seasoned) and the saltiness of the fermented black beans. Despite some of the menu discrepancies, this was a really good version for my tastes. Near-elite. -- Green Beans With Eggplant: Strong flavor, not too hot spicewise, but volcanically hot temperaturewise. Decent. -- Chicken and Clams: Black bean flavor, whole peppercorns, spicy but loaded with flavor beyond the spice. A deceptively huge and quite delicious. Elite. -- Beef Spring Rolls: Not my choice. Crisp, beefy, and chili sauce on the side added contrast. Solid, but boring, more typical of an Americanized offering, and a waste of an opportunity given Too Hot's killer menu. -- Pork Belly with Fermented Beans: Superb rendition, not drastically different from twice cooked pork, but much more flavor and giant pieces. Near-elite to Elite. -- Shrimp in Dry Hot Pot: Tons of dry rub spiciness, giant shrimp, chopped vegetables, and crinkle cut potatoes. Near-elite. -- Brussels Sprouts w/Shallots: More subtle flavors here but hardly bland. Fried shallots had sort of an onion ringy presence in miniature. Cooked just right. Outstanding overall experience, with the best dish on the first visit and almost all winners on the second. Kudos to the friendly and helpful service, including a server suggestion to switch an item after noticing we ordered two very similar items. Eager to return often and try even more of the menu.

I've gotten lucky with walking in but they have enough seating for one to generally be able to snag a table even around dinner time. During the summer, they have lovely outdoor seating! I've gotten take out here once and the food holds up well. Now onto the food... - drunken noodles: occasionally these are very spicy and occasionally they are appropriately spicy. They are always so excellent and the noodles are bouncy and chewy! I usually get this with pork. - pad see ew: this is my favorite Thai noodle dish and it's no exception here. Not as spicy as the drunken noodles but just a massive portion of filling noodles, chicken/tofu, and Chinese broccoli. There's something about the way they do the sauce here that is just so savory and delicious. It feels less greasy than it usually does at other Thai places, which I really like - pad mee korat: my friend always get this and raves about it. I felt like it was worth sharing that this comes in a huge plate and was finished completely. They have a lot of variety in dishes!!

This was our first visit to Pagu, and it might already be one of my new favorite spots in…read moreCambridge. The menu had a great mix of reasonably priced dishes and a few higher-end options. Everything we ordered was amazing!! The Tempura String Beans were our favorite (perfectly crispy and addictive), the Hamachi Crudo was super fresh and balanced, and the Pork Spicy Knife Cut Noodles were spicy but honestly some of the best noodles I've ever had. The Miso Black Cod was rich and buttery, and the Chicken Karaage was incredibly tender with a great crunch. Service was great, dishes came out maybe a little slow, but we enjoyed taking our time. We also loved seeing the chef/owner Tracy Chang so hands-on, checking in on guests and delivering dishes, which made the experience feel extra special. You can tell a lot of care goes into every dish. Already planning my next visit, it looks like they have a bunch of cooking classes on the weekends too!

For drinks, we ordered the spritz from the drink menu and also asked if they could make a lychee martini. The lychee martinis weren't bad and were pink to match the spritz which was fun, but I do wish the martini included an actual lychee. We ordered the pork bao buns for the table which usually come in two, but our waitress kindly offered for three bao buns to come out since our group had three people. These bao buns were fantastic and I would definitely recommend, the pork was so tender and flavorful. I ordered the 2011 guchi ramen and unfortunately, I was disappointed. I've had many bowls of ramen in my lifetime and maybe my opinion is based on personal preference, but the ramen was not great. The broth was pretty bland and the pork was mostly fat and the meat itself was quite dry and tough. I'm not sure if this is what they were going for, but I wouldn't recommend the ramen and I wouldn't get it again. However, I wouldn't be opposed to coming back and trying something else as my friends enjoyed their meal!
