I'm excited to have a coffee shop in the area that's open past 5 pm! I'm an afternoon coffee girly and I tend to go for an a pick-me-up after work to fuel the rest of my day. Black Rock Coffee Bar gets 5 stars from me for many reasons- first there is a drive-through so you can grab coffee on the go, they offer online ordering through the app so you can seamlessly stop by to pick it up, and if you want a place to hang out, the space is cute and conducive for meeting up with friends or working on a laptop. There is also an outdoor patio for lounging. If you're not into coffee, Black Rock has iced/frozen energy drinks, matcha, chai, and tea. They also have kids drinks for little ones. You can customize nearly anything with flavored cold foam, sugar free syrups, or nondairy milk. This is a great coffee shop for picky individuals and vegans. There are a variety of seasonal flavors and special drinks on the menu to satisfy any craving. My go to order has been a large cold brew with sugar-free chocolate syrup and salted caramel foam. The cold brew is very smooth and flavorful; definitely delicious. Be aware that they charge extra for alternative milk (unlike Starbucks) but otherwise an awesome coffee shop and addition to Arvada/Westminster! read more

Sat in the drive thru for 10 min. Not sure what was taking so long. Only 1 person at the counter. I went back for the Mexican coffee. The girl sat in the window chatting me up. I really did not have the time and was not in to chatting. I tried a sample of the coffee with a little sugar while waiting. It was not very good and nothing I would go back for. I pass by often and maybe a person or 2 are inside and drive thru empty. Customer service from corporate is weak and sounds like the local denver girl I spoke to was over her head with her position. Rounded the corner to pass a packed sweet bloom next to sprouts. They are award winning roasters. I also passed Starbucks on was. I would rather frequent a small business but the have a good coffee and great options as well. When I get the Mexican coffee craving I'll stop by. It's not often but a couple times a year. First time here so I'll check in again. Ambiance is nice. Airy and lots of light if that's what you're looking for. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Only two working walk-ins, call ins, and drive up at noon so could have used one more set of hands. Once a line formed it moved slowly. Cold brew coffee was good. The bacon breakfast burrito on the other hand was one of the worst I've ever had, and I LOVE breakfast burritos and am not that picky. Terrible quality. The guys heated it up well, so that wasn't the problem. The potatoes were chewy. Bacon bits were chewy. Way too much tortilla. They need to source these elsewhere. Until then, I'll try a bagel next time. Also got a hot Americano to go to get a better sense of the coffee. Flavor was good. read more

Worst cinnamon roll ever. Threw it in the trash, they replaced it with a croissant. I brought it home for my husband (did not tell him my experience). He then took a bite and was like, "this is worse than grocery store croissants, it tastes like rubber". Then he pulled off all the rubber crust and just ate a small piece of the doughy center. Extremely slow. After being in the drive through for 11 min and only one car moved, I came inside and there was nobody in line. I still waited another five min before someone came to the register to take my order. I could see her handling all the DoorDash orders instead of taking mine. They were staffed with 6 people at the time. I love their drinks, and the place was clean and friendly, but there needs to be a better structure to get people in and out in a better timeframe. read more

What a great new (to me) spot! Love the cool decor, the baristas are really nice, and the drinks and seasonal flavors on offer were delicious. My only complaint is that I'm not a local, because it looks like a great spot to hang out or work. read more

Atmosphere is inviting. Not as noisy as other coffee shops. The only barista that was there was extremely calm given she was responsible for making everyone's drinks including the drive thru. And I was amazed at how gracious customers were while they waited much longer than they would have if you went to other cafes. I wish I had her name. She needs a shout out from her boss! read more

I've been a faithful customer since Black Rock opened. I love the coffee....however the experience leave much to be desired. The drive thru line is always a disaster, EVERY TIME. I wait 15-20 minutes each time I am there. Usually, the excuse is that the other cars ordered food, but you need to have them park and have someone run the food out to them, instead of making people wait for 15 min. I always order online so I can be quick and have been late a few times due to the wait in the drive thru. My worst experience happened on my last visit a few days ago....I ordered a medium iced Irish Cream. I ordered online and then got in the drive thru to pick up; there were 2 cars ahead of us. The first and second car moved pretty quickly - then we got up there. We waited 7 minutes at the window for a pre-ordered coffee. When the girl finally handed it to me, she said (and I quote) "we dont have any medium cups so I gave you a small with a little less ice." Never in 30 of working in customer service have I ever given a customer who paid for a size a smaller size! If we ran out, I always gave them a larger size. Although I love the coffee, the experience has turned me away, it will be a long time before I go back - which makes me sad. read more

I was so happy to see another coffee option in the neighborhood and I was not disappointed! The iced Mexican mocha with sweet cold foam was delicious and, best of all, free when I signed up for their loyalty program. The sausage breakfast burrito I got was also delicious. Very cheesy. The coffee here is very bad. I can drink some bad coffee and this was tough. Not sure where they get it roasted but they are burning the beans. Also an iced coffee being a min of 16 oz with no other options it not ideal. It's also freezing inside but that could be a pro for some people! I was very excited to try this new coffee shop. I signed up online and downloaded the app, so I was able to get my first drink for free. I love that they have a bunch of flavored syrups, so I tried something funky and ordered an iced mocha with banana syrup! I love banana flavor, so it was very tasty to me. My husband thought it was weird, but that just meant I didn't have to share. I went in hungry and hoping they had some decent food options to grab and go. They had a few pastries (mostly muffins) and bagels, so I didn't get anything to eat. None of it was really what I was looking for. This coffee shop is like a mix of Dutch bros and starbucks. Took the best of both worlds and called it Black rock. The coffee has such a great flavor, it's smooth. Everything about this place is awesome. The atmosphere is perfect and I'll definitely be going frequently to do some work or meet with friends. Today was opening day and they were giving free 16oz drinks and they have some other specials this week too. The employees were super nice and friendly. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars often the orders aren't correct and need to be redone, especially when going through drive thru. But they are happy to remake them when you call out the issue. I was pretty excited to see that a new coffee place had opened up near me and decided to give it a go. We went through the drive thru and ordered a blended matcha and wildberry smoothie. Both were delicious however the matcha was just a bit too sweet for my liking. Other than that, I would say the service was okay. The woman who took our order wasn't very welcoming but the man at the window was really nice and informed us about getting a free drink for signing up with their app. I'll definitely have to give it another try soon! read more

We have friends in Houston and had the opportunity to try Black Rock in the franchise's home state of Texas. We were thrilled to see this location was opening in our neighborhood. We went on their opening day and went throughout the week for their amazing opening week promotions. We now go at least once a week and have had the opportunity to try a ton of the drinks on the menu. Their coffee is very smooth and their specialty drinks are so delicious - we haven't had a bad one! The highlight of this location is absolutely the staff. Every employee we have interacted with have been so kind and genuinely seem happy to be there.
