We started out with the pretzel bits. I've had these a few times in the past, and these were by far the best. They were soft and buttery and had a memorable flavor. My first choice for an entrée was that Ahi tuna poke bowl. But alas, we were informed that they no longer offered it. I settled for a Caesar salad with salmon and my wife ordered a spinach salad with strawberries and goat cheese. I've had more authentic Caesar salads, but having the lightly dressed lettuce topped with a huge piece of salmon (~5 oz.) turned out to be a very filling and delightful dinner choice for the price. My wife's salad was not as large and she opted for no protein, but she seemed to enjoy it just the same. Bunkers boasts a cozy atmosphere with dark wood, a small bar and a fireplace.

Beckley surprised us once again, this spot turned out to be such a delicious treasure that we kept coming back like well-trained food pilgrims. The food was fantastic. Truly. Some of the best chicken shawarma, hummus, and tabouli I've had in ages, fresh, flavorful, and made with clear love. The kind of meal that makes your tired hiking muscles perk up and whisper, "Oh yes, this is the good life." Service was friendly, warm, and helpful with recommendations, the kind of staff who genuinely wants you to enjoy what you order. Honestly, I found myself wishing we had a place like this back home so I could grab big platters for a party and impress everyone without lifting a finger. A traveler can dream. A great little spot, comforting and delicious, exactly what you hope to find when you're hungry, tired, and ready to be fed well.

The food was about on par with what you would find at a traditional Mexican restaurant in this part of the country. I ended up ordering the Camarones al a Diabla, and they were pretty decent. The sauce was nicely flavored, though there was less of it than I expected. The balance of shrimp and other sides was good, and the portion wasn't over the top. Overall, a pretty good meal. In terms of the vibe, I would say it's very Mexican. The television in the bar was set to a Spanish language channel. I was able to communicate just fine, but there was a bit of a language barrier with the bar tender. Not a problem. I actually view that as a sign of authenticity. I'll also note that they seemed a little short-staffed on the night I showed up. Everyone was extremely busy, so service was a little slow but still attentive. Everyone there was trying their best to keep up. All told, I would recommend this place. Not an over the top dining experience, but it was very clearly a locally owned place with a good vibe and lots of character.

If you can, I'd recommend checking in and joining the waitlist beforehand so you can get seated as quickly as possible. Like most Texas Roadhouse locations, the atmosphere was buzzing and lively with all the college football games playing, the staff were super nice and attentive, and the food was excellent. My usual order is the rare Prime Rib with a Caesar Salad and Steak Fries -- with a side of creamy horseradish, of course! The salads at TR are always solid, the steak fries were especially crispy that day, and the prime rib was perfect: super tender, perfectly cooked, and not overly fatty. My sister also tried their Full Slab Ribs for the first time, which are supposedly award-winning, but I personally wouldn't give them that much credit. While the ribs were tender and well-cooked, they lacked seasoning. The BBQ sauce was there, but it didn't add much flavor. Maybe it was just an off day, but I'd call them mediocre at best. All in all, this Texas Roadhouse lives up to its reputation for great service and solid steaks -- but maybe skip the ribs and stick with the classics.
