This place gets a lot business and is the only other Chinese buffet spot in/close to Beckley. It is, by far, the best out of the 2 available. No spoiled food here and almost everything I tried was delicious. The good: My favorites were definitely, the dumplings(loved them so much I kept getting them with each new plate), crab cheese wontons, black pepper chicken and the lo mein(which were made with authentic lo mein noodles). The bad: The fried rice left a lot to be desired as it was sweet and rather weird tasting. The soups were quite bland and soy sauce didn't help. I probably would have liked the honey chicken better if the chicken pieces were bigger, but they were in really small pieces to where I couldn't tell if it was chicken or just breading floating in all that sauce. There are three types of egg rolls(spring, regular and lobster), with the lobster being the best as I wasn't impressed with the other two. The service is as you would expect, drink order at the beginning and no contact after that other than to grab your used plates or a refill on your drink. I didn't try the sushi as the rolls, even the California roll, were devoid of avocado, which is a huge turn off for me. Overall, I liked most of the items they had and I would definitely go back. They also have a to-go option, where you can fill a styrofoam container to your hearts desire and it is then weighed. We recently moved to the state, about 45 min away. My son discovered there was a Chinese restaurant and *mom guilted* me in to going. I didn't expect much... teeny town, niche restaurant. I came in and was greeted friendly & polite. I found a clean, simply decorated interior with the usual fare on the menu, including many family favorites. Again, I didn't expect anything above cookie cutter standard food. I was pleasantly surprised! After placing my to go order they were social and engaged in conversation, helpful when I had to add an item I'd forgotten, and so very pleasant. I had placed a big order, and my leg is in a cast, they insisted on helping me to my vehicle and got everything settled. On the way home my son and I couldn't resist the smell and nibbled on egg rolls going home. They were DELIGHTFUL! They were obviously fresh and hand made! What a rare treat! Everything else was just as good, with very nice flavor, texture, and portions. Be sure not to forget the egg drop soup! The broth was delightfully thick, and flavorful! I eat there about once a week at the buffet and love it..I have ordered delivery a few times before..called today and put on hold..that's ok..girl could not figure out my order and the American man came on and told him she got back on...she said she couldn't deliver..I liked to have never figured out why...I think it's because my order was not 15? I did not see it on there menu or anywhere that? Just moved into the area and wanted some good Chinese food. Seeing the high rating China One had, we tried it. Huge mistake! Walking in, it looked a bit below average in cleanliness and decor. I will say for a buffet, the service was friendly and efficient. The first few bites tasted pretty good, but then I started realizing it was greasy thin strips or tiny bits of soggy empty breading, or tiny fried slivers of meat. Their macaroni and cheese was terrible, macaroni with a thin, tasteless milky wash with scarcely a trace of cheese. The hot wings, were cold with greasy chicken. Stay away from the stuffed mushrooms! But some of the other mushrooms were ok. Nearing the end of the meal, I ... shall I say needed to make a fast visit to their facilities! After that I didn't feel so well and left. I will try and keep this straight and to the point. When you compare this to a lot of the other Chinese buffets locally... I feel in my opinion this is one of the best. I walk in with my family, we are always greeted with a smile. There is always seating available, which is a big deal because my grandmother had Multiple Sclerosis and is in a wheelchair. We always taken to an easily accessible spot, even though my grandfather is a gentleman and always gets both his and her meals. A Chinese buffet is what it is: Cheap, served in bulk, catering to those who can make an all-you-can-eat adventure worthwhile. But even within the world of Chinese buffets, you have the good and the bad. Admittedly, while Main Street in Sophia is not the obvious guess for the best Chinese buffet in the area, China One is a longtime staple in southern West Virginia, and with good reason. You get what you pay for, and then some, the service is good, the food is good, and you don't leave disappointed. The vast majority of patrons go straight to the buffet rather than the menu, myself included. The best parts of the experience remain the consistency and the selection, resulting in a great value for the money spent. The General Tso's Chicken is the best the area has to offer, the honey chicken is good without being overpowering, and the chicken and broccoli, always a good dish to gauge the worth of the rest of the buffet no matter where you go, is solid. Another consistent favorite is the peanut chicken, with just the right amount of sweetness and crunch. The cream cheese and crab wontons are popular to the point of being frequently restocked, promising freshness. With a pile of fried shrimp in front of you, it's hard to pass up on at least eight or ten of them, provided you're a seafood fan. The shrimp are certainly bought as a bargain, small in size, but that just gives an excuse to eat more and more. If you absolutely insist on Americanizing your experience as much as possible, dip into the macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, fried chicken strips, bone-in wings, and boneless spare ribs, even a fried donut or two. Unless it is absolutely fresh, the sweet and sour chicken leaves something to be desired. It is excellent when first brought out but goes downhill fast. The mozzarella sticks suffer the same fate, and are still somewhat bland and with the aftertaste of the common oil in which they were prepared with so many other foods. I am completely unsure of what the lobster rolls are, but one would be hard pressed to find the influence of lobster in them. The almost gritty texture and puzzling taste makes it one of the very few things offered to be avoided. But that's okay, in the long run, because it saves room for all of the good things... including the variety of options for a quick and easy dessert. It's not gourmet but it serves its purpose as well as possible, and that keeps me, and a multitude of others, coming back again and again. read more

I haven't ordered off the menu yet, but the buffet is amazing as far as that goes. I've been to so many Chinese buffets trying to find one that serves fresh food with flavor. This is the best one I've come across in years. The price is also very reasonable, especially if you go during lunch. It's so strange that you would find good Chinese food way out in Sophia, but I'm willing to travel that distance for this place. I highly recommend China One! read more
