Black Iron Burger on a weekday afternoon met the moment on many levels. Located not far from Columbus Circle, this burger joint is quite spacious and inviting. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a kind gentleman who welcomed me and seated me in my preferred area. My seating was quickly followed by another waiter/bartender who took my order and checked back frequently to ensure my satisfaction with the food and service. Seeing as I was passing through and did a quick Google search for the best and closest burger joints in my area, I didn't spend too much time laboring over the extensive options. I went with what I knew, which was a classic American burger, which didn't disappoint. That said, perhaps the best part of my meal was the loaded sweet potato fries; Epic! All in all, I would recommend the Black Iron Burger. My long-standing ritual is to have a burger only once a month, and Black Iron Burger is now one of my go-to options.

I was staying in the hotel basically next door. I thought it would rude not to sample a burger as I was so close location wise. I had the Black iron Burger. I really enjoyed the marmalade onions. The patties were very juicy. Service was Swift and fast.

I went in Jan really rather ravenous and it hit the spot. I got the mushroom truffle burger if I remember right, quite tasty. The onion rings are different than I've had elsewhere--very thin & crispy but I enjoyed them (you definitely have to eat them hot & fresh though, don't think it would keep well). Washed it all down with a milkshake, which was decent. The service was friendly and they were helpful when I asked for suggestions. Casual bar-like atmosphere. I would go again if I was nearby & craving a burger.

Quick but poor service - maybe since we were seated in the back? Bathrooms were very subpar and unclean with heavy smells. For a best burger and zagat rated joint - was very disappointing. Maybe since we didn't venture to the more exciting or decorative burgers but shouldn't their classic burgers be just as good or decent? The best thing there was the strawberry milkshake and fries (not saying much). IWas surprised how easy it was to get a reservation on New Years Eve and got a table for 6. We all really enjoyed our burgers. U got the Midnight Espresso Burger which was delicious, I wish they gave more sauce either on the burger or on the side (they charge extra for that). Nothing like dipping a burger in BBQ sauce . The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the place was lively with music and TVs all around to watch the games. Enjoy!

Needed a place near Studio 54 for a show and walked in off the street. Great food and great service. Delicious burgers and sides, and finished off with a Nutella Brownie with ice cream for dessert. Definitely will come back!

Yummy burger. Love the juciness of the patties and the sunny side egg. Only thing is I asked for medium and it was a bit medium rare but still a solid thicc burger.

Was craving a solid burger and knew Black Iron Burger would hit the spot! I had ordered the truffle mushroom burger and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection! Cajun fries were well seasoned, but the onion rings for me didn't quite hit the spot. Not sure if it was the breading or what, but they're alright. Definitely a sports bar kind of vibe for a burger joint with quite a few TVs. Overall, it's a good place if you want a decent burger in the city

Walked in off the street after a Sunday afternoon show at Studio 54. Starved and boarding in hangry. Seated quickly. Ordered and within ten minutes we had food. They specialize in burgers, some pre-programmed to make it easy on you or you can build your own with a burger or chicken or turkey etc. Fries were hot and crunchy. Mexican arugula salad was a meal In itself. Grilled cheese with Iberia ham had sautéed onions and it was amazing. The burgers come with all the fixings as well as a myriad of upsell options. Delivered fresh and hot in record time. The bar tender took our order by memory and honestly I expected him to mess it up but it came out spot on. Full bar, lots of tv's and plenty of seating from 2 to 10. They have happy hour specials that seem pretty affordable as well. I'd definitely come here again.

Good service, attentive staff. American bar set up, good to stop for a bite or a beer, decent burger, laid back vibe. Stopped here for a bite before a show, convenient location. Chips were very salty, did not like tomatoes in fries.

Interesting find in the Theater District with custom burgers and an arugula salad that stood out. We arrived early for lunch to a sparsely populated traditionally decorated and relaxing sports bar. We were wisked to a high table and quickly discovered that the place was popular with locals as midway through our meal the entire bar completely filled up with an eager lunch crowd. The ambiance was warm and inviting and service was professional, checking on our table periodically throughout the meal. The custom burger was exceptionally juicy with fresh ingredients albeit somewhat small. The arugula salad was fresh and my optional grilled chicken was generously portioned. I would only suggest serving the salad on a plate instead of a standard and seemingly smaller bowl for the sake of presentation and ease. The onion rings were a standout, nicely sliced and expertly prepared in a memorably light and flavorful coatng. Nice find!

I thought the Black Iron Burger was supposed to be a double patty burger but received a single patty. Server was no where to be found to check on the food. Was charged the normal price. At that point I didn't feel like escalating or waiting for a new burger. Took the L and moved on. Burger was a solid 6/10.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way.
