OK, so maybe the service was a little slow but the atmosphere was great, server attentive and the food was sooo with waiting for. Who knew fries Brussels sprouts could taste so good? Salmon with farrow was amazing , flank steak perfectly cooked, burgers exactly what you want and mulberry cider ale was perfect on a cold December day. read more

You must try the food at BK 9. I attended BK 9 for a birthday party. The atmosphere was so cozy. I had the jerk chicken and oxtails. Both were so delicious. The D J was excellent. We loved the drinks. The management went out of their way to make sure we felt comfortable. We will surely be back for the delicious food, drinks and music. Treat yourself you won't be disappointed. read more

This place is amazing. We had an intimate mommy-to-be shower for my girlfriend during dinner and it was perfect. The owners made us feel welcome and catered to us like family. We had every dish on the menu. The food was delicious, soothing music and an overall fantastic space. We hope to host many more events there. Welcome to the neighborhood. read more

I went to the grand opening of this restaurant and while I was nervous that we wouldn't be seated right away, because we were early for our reservation, the hostess was the sweetest and we were accommodated the moment we walked in! I went with two of my girlfriends and we proceeded to order almost everything off the menu! The oxtail empanadas were wonderful, and the hanger steak and crispy snapper were cooked to perfection. Anddd, we even went as far as ordering TWO orders of brussel sprouts! The vibe in this restaurant was just as great as the food! Will definitely be back! read more

Went here on a weeknight for dinner. The food was pretty good, and so was the service, but my biggest take away was that this is a spot to come to for drinks with friends. I don't see the food as the main attraction. You go here for drinks and there is food there to get if you happen to be hungry when you are there, and the food will be good and carrribean inspired. The atmosphere is more of a loungy bar, good music, laid back people... if you go for drinks and company and happen to get food you will be happy. If you go for food and a nice dinner experience, you may not be satisfied. read more

Came here before a show at Barclays..Full house,, .Quaint atmosphere...Exceptional food. Kudos to the Chefs for a unique meal beautifully presented!! Sea Scallops with lentils were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The brussel sprout salad accented with a goat cheese was so tasty!!! The service was good and staff friendly..Would highly recommend this place!!! read more

The food here is great, but the service sucks. I ordered an appetizer that took an hour and a half and it was not during a busy time. Don't come here hungry expecting your food in a decent time. You might want to grab a snack first before heading to this spot. read more

My two cousins and I went to this restaurant on Saturday night. The food here was amazing but the service was lacking immensely. The waitress never came back to our table to check on us to verify everything was ok. We literally had to flag her down to come over to the table several times, only for her to not follow through and bring what was requested(ie. Another round of drinks). The waitress was also on her cellphone quite often, not to mention wearing what looked like all black onsie jumpsuit which was extremely tacky and didn't appear to be in alignment with the aesthetic of the restaurant. This waitress also gossiped with the chef regarding another worker where the cook said "why is she even here?" Referencing the other worker, to which my waitress responds "she's just trying to be relevant". While i am no stranger to the idea that establishments have in house issues, guests of the restaurant should not be made privy to such discord. It is a shame that this place has such deplorable customer service because honestly the food is simply amazing. read more

New and amazimg restaurant!!! Food and atmosphere is simply fabulous. The partners are friendly and inviting. Warm and family friendly but rocks late night as well. The seared Scallops is awesome, especially if you love hot ad spicy! Not ususally big on brussel sprouts, but loved, loved them. Looking forward to dinning there again! read more

Friday night at BK9 was just awesome!!! From the food to the ambiance to the entertainment, the place was on point...The pork belly dish rocks and is surely an encore...the jazz quartet took me to New Orleans through the Caribbean and back to NY....This is the new setting for casual dining, girls' night out, family outing, first date and the list goes on....Try the drinks!!! you wont' regret it!! read more

Great appetizers and great diri jon jon! But stay away from the legume. If everything else was not good I probably would have given a lower rate. Great customer service read more

Here is a cool spot... Mello. Food is really good. The chicken and waffles to die for. We sat at the bar which service could have been better but the food again was delicious. My friend had a spill and the bartender just whipped it up without changing the mat which was sticky for the rest of our meal and drinks. Met the manager took time to show me around as I was casing the joint for my bday. This is my second time and I like it. The manager sat at the bar a couple of seats away and ask for a drink and the bartender says hell no. Confused I was it could just be work humor but seems unprofessional. But never the less I want to go for my birthday. But just maybe some other servers to give better attention. I tip well if tips are deserved. read more

April, 2016 - second visit 6 months ago I went to this place and gave it a bad review. I went back again today 4/24/16, and I still give it a bad review. This place has the absolute worse restaurant service in Park Slope. They ran out of mimosas and certain food items on the menu on a Sunday. We chose to leave before it got worse. Nov, 2015 - first visit Service was absolutely the worse I've experienced. So much so that I felt the need to write a review. My potatoes were burnt to the point that it was hard. The bartender said 'potatoes are supposed to be garnish" never heard that before! She could have offered to remake. I had to constantly ask the bartender for re-fills on every drink I ordered, even getting the first one. She was completely not attentive and carefree. The worse was that the place was not busy. I wanted to leave after 30 mins. I asked for my check, it took her 10 mins without her saying anything to me. I asked again. She had forgot. At that point I was the only customer at the bar. How do you forget your only customer? There were only a few people in this resturant downstairs. The staff appeared to still be cross training. There were children of the coworkers sitting / running around the bar. They ran out of soda and some supplies. Employees were making fun of the owner. Park Slope is known for good bars & resturants. I've tried many in the area. I live here. This one is an absolutely NO. While the ambiance was great, their food was poor and unbelievably poor service and staff. Maybe the rest of the food taste better and mine was a mishap? I recommend you to go around the corner to other great bars and resturants in the area within walking distance. read more

I love eating there food. I love there customer service. I can't wait to go back there. Their food quality is very good. They also served the food quickly. They also deliver and they are quick on there deliver as wail. read more

My Guava martini was on point. Maya is a great bartender! I would recommend coming to this spot for good drinks and sports on a Sunday

People were very friendly but honestly (and I'm a patient person) waited way to long for our food. We ordered the pork habanero egg benedict, which was not at all spicy which is what I expected from the pepper, the eggs were cooked through which should not be in a benedict and my food was cold. I ate it but was not satisfied at all. The chicken and waffles was horrible. And from the kid menu we ordered a slider with no cheese or condiments. The burger was way over cooked with cheese and mayo on it. I was upset but just was starving from the wait. I mean the concept of the place is great. The people are very sweet. But you should replace those chefs on Sunday at least I mean there was only 3 tables there and we were waiting an hour for food and our table and the one next to us both got the wrong order. You need consistency in your plates. Would hope to see this business pick up but not with that kitchen staff. If you need a cook I'll be glad to step in that kitchen. read more

I sat at the bar with my girlfriend , we had the bottomless mango mimosas, and banana run waffles, she had the chicken and waffles food was absolutely amazing worth every penny juicy flavorful amazing meal the mimosas was weak barely tasted of mango and my server was at the kitchen counter so much and barely behind the bar where shes supposed to be. Waited for refills for a while we accidentally spilled a drink she didnt pick up , and if yu enjoy going to bars to see eye candy this isnt the spot bartender by the name of shaquanna is not easy on anyones eyes and has a slight attitude problem and lack of patience, they should definitely improve there service but the manager i met came around asking if everything was good very beautiful poliet aand answering all our questions and even helped clean up what the bartender shouldve like extra plates and empty cups i mean we were the only people at the bar. Food was amazing management seemed fantastic, servers need to be better looking and have a better work ethic she seemed too bothered by us wouldve been 5 stars but needs better service ! read more

I have mixed feelings about this place to be honest I wish I had taken pictures but I was with my great friend of 18 years, on a Friday night date in the glittering side of Brooklyn and I got carried away by the girl talk. First we were seated by this beautiful black woman who was stunningly gorgeous and kind. We both wished we were as young and pretty as her again and giggled. She seated us and asked what we would like to drink. We Initially ordered 2 glasses of wine without checking the wine list. We went by our regular choices mines was Pinot Noir and it was delicious, my friend had their house Chardonnay which was "horrible" to her taste and she told the waiter that she doesn't like it and he could take it back. Shortly after, the bartender, Maya came over and offered a better Chardonnay for my friend. I think it was Testa Rossa (may have misspelled) because my friend posted it on the IG after taking down the information off the bottle. We decided we should come here to the bar, get tipsy off those rum punches and channel our inner bad girl at this place and "wine slow" to the music playing. While great for girl talk, this place had a stronger bar presence with great happy hour as we were explained. Our waiter(forgive me I forgot your name! ) was super nice and accommodating all night even when we received our jerk chicken very late , cold and extremely spicy. We ordered empanadas instead after our waiter explained that it would be probably faster and better than having the jerk chicken remade He was right because the empanadas were fantastic and the oxtail meat inside was like my mother in laws. I have to come here with them. Well, empanadas fixed the situation then by the time we finished with it, we decided to order a bottle of red wine. Once again the bartender presented the bottle nothing short of fine dining in Manhattan service and this was my hometown good ole Brooklyn. This makes me happy. Anyways what I mean by that is it was a sommelier service making sure we sampled and approved of the wine then served us our first round. Now the wine was one of their new ones so it wasn't on the menu which I found weird. My friend was tipsy by then and picked this wine and we usually like our wine the same way. Our second courses were also late; the kitchen staff were laughing with others and some chef yelling at staff and making everyone uncomfortable I don't know if he was very overwhelmed that night because it was very busy and the next table also complained about not having mayonnaise and Caribbean sauces . After a long wait and our bottle of wine almost was over, my hanger steak came out definitely undercooked to my liking because I wanted medium well. This turned me off and I settled for a burger which was to be honest great but once again the peppers on it weren't mentioned to us and they were too spicy for me. I am not stingy and I went to this restaurant knowing the prices were not too inexpensive and expected decent size plates from a Caribbean restaurant: the portions were ridiculously small and certainly not worth the loooong wait. My friend liked her snapper though she bought the croquet could be seasoned better and she loved that it was spicy but she admit it was pretty hot. We left here with mixed feelings because the ambiance was great. The music alternated between Reggae and R&B hits mostly 90's and early 2000s. Good choice bk9!! Reading the crowd and playing the right music is important. We are conflicted because service was amazing but all staff looked like they were tired of things going astray or apologizing for others mistakes constantly and get their tip reduced by some people who think the tip should be reduced if the food was bad as if the waiter cooked it. Anyways service and the staff, wine presentation, acknowledgement of problems as they came up were great. But why did so many mistakes occur during my dining experience? This is the main reason I am leaving this review because I see a lot of potential in bk9. So you deserve an honest review. I would consider the efficiency of kitchen staff We had a bad vibe and certainly weren't satisfied with the food experience overall we will return for happy hour one of these days and maybe I update my review again Oh and please! paper menus ? Not cute..... Bk9 step it up and become the hip spot that you could be read more

I was staying in the neighborhood and wandered in by chance. Very friendly staff and great food. My lady had a chicken sandwich and I had one of the best burgers I can remember. It was a juicy meatball the way burgers used to be. We're in Brooklyn for another week and BK-9 is on our list for a repeat. read more

The service here was very bad. After I read others reviews I knew I was not alone. First off you walk in and it says please wait to be seated....There is NOONE there. The place is tiny so anyone working can see you standing there waiting to be seated but noone said anything. This is a pattern of behavior since either reviewers said the exact same thing happened to them. You also feel like you walked i to someones private party and you were not invited because the "servers" look at you and look away like you are not there. Im sorry I thought you were in business to make money. How could I be so silly to assume that. My bad. The staff was not very attentive. Is there even a proper hostess in this place? Essentially you are ignored unless you flag them down or walk up to them and ask them for basics like water refills, silverware, extra napkins, etc. It felt like this was a trial pop-up restaurant or family owned restaurant and whoever is available to serve is thrown into the role with little to know training. As we all have been to restaurants, it really should not be that hard....Someone walks into your restaurant, you greet them versus looking at them and ignoring them. You ask them how many people in the party and you give them a seat or add them to a waitlist. No brainer right...Not here though. I couldn't believe I had to flag someone down for water or flag someone down to take my order or flag someone down to....at some point I felt is this a restaurant or family bbq where you have to help yourself to everything... drinks were weak and supersweet. I could barely finish my sugar...ooops I mean my rum punch. If they are going to be that sweet please add more alcohol, heck adding any alcohol would be a great start. The food was not memorable. Oxtails were well flavored but super fatty. Where's the beef! Jerk wings were ok but mostly you got a lot of spice on the burnt outside skin and the inside of the chicken meat was basically bland. At least they were well done and not raw. Ill take whatever blessings I can here. It is very loud in here. I mean extremely. I love carribean music but I don't want to hear it on max volume like I am at a club on a Sunday brunch. Imagine being at a soca concert inside someone's living room. Can you turn it down a little bit? You could barely hear yourself think or have a conversation with the people you came with. Some staff were very nice but overall I would pass on this place. There is definitely more of a everyone knows everyone kinda vibe going on here and if you are not in the know you definitely feel it. read more

If you are going somewhere (islanders game) and thinking of eating here and making the game DONT GO HERE. I honestly don't get it. I really wanted to support these guys as its a good concept but they must be on island time or something ....I waited literally an hour before they even delivered our order. I'm no longer a fan. Sorry guys. I'm done. read more

I had a n hour to spare while waiting for my train at Atlantic Terminal. I looked up "Happy Hour" on Yelp and this place came up. The reviews seemed convincing enough so I figured to give it a try. Plus, it did say Caribbean in the description and that alone is enough to get my attention (being that I am of Haitian descent). I noticed they had Haitian music playing when I walked in so I was immediately intrigued. I saw that they had Jerk Chicken Wings on their menu and I was immediately sold. I must say, I am a pretty serious critic when it comes to jerk chicken so I was kind of skeptical. To be honest, these were THE BEST jerked chicken wings I ever had. As I'm writing this, I just realized that I don't have a picture to show you all but let that be an indicator that they were too good for me to stop in the middle of my consumption to take a pic. I hope you can take my word for it. The drinks are pretty good too. I had the BK9 Rum Punch which was perfectly made. When drinks consist of mango, the mango tends to overpower everything else in the drink. This was the perfect mix of mango and rum I've ever had. I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area again. read more
