They backed up my hard drive and gave me an external hard drive to put my stuff on because it was cheaper for me to do that rather than replacing the internal hard drive. Stopped at the Mesa flea market and spoke to TJ. He gave me a lot of good information about the shop on Apache Road. So I brought my computer to them for a free diagnostic. After leaving my laptop there for a few hours I got a call with information about what might be wrong, they asked if I wanted to continue on repairing the computer. They kept in touch with me the whole time, letting me know what the issues were and what the cost would be, before doing any of the work. I highly recommend Bits and Bytes for any of your needed desk or laptop computer work. The prices are fair and customer service is excellent. Stop in even if you have a laptop to trade in for one of their fully refurbished units. Good location on Apache Trail , and a nice group to work with. I decided to shop locally for a solution for my 6 year old trusty laptop, a Toshiba Qosmio. TJ and Tom Watson, Bits n' Bytes advised me to trade out my old hard drive for a solid state hard drive for my Toshiba. Wow. My boot up time went from 90 seconds to 10 seconds. Big success. It's like I have a new computer. And the solid state HD runs very cool: very good for any laptop's life expectancy. They installed the Windows operating system and set up the HD so it was ready to go. The solution was much less expensive than the cost of purchasing a new laptop. So, based on this success, I decided to add a desktop computer to my home equipment, too. I asked Bits n' Bytes what they could do for me. They evaluated my needs, and built me a customized computer to accomodate my video/ graphics/ business needs. Another Wow! I got a customized computer for much less than I would have paid for a new one 'off the shelf' at an office store or online. They installed a solid state hard drive in my new desktop, and once again, am enjoying an almost instantaneous boot up. I've come to rely on them for hardware and software advice now, too. They advised me on how to pick the right webcam, and the right HP laser color printer (even though they don't sell them.) There are some things you just can't get when you buy online that you'll get when you buy from a reputable local company. You'll get a quality product and the sum-total of their experience. I had them install a new SSD into my 27" iMac. I purchased the drive on my own and backed it up so all I needed was for them to simply replace it. I went to the business but they told me I needed an additional part that is needed when upgrading to a SSD for older iMacs....I appreciated this because my computer fan would have just spun at max speed, be annoying, and break sooner without it. I also thought it was nice of them because they easily could have done the work I asked for and then charged me extra down the road for fixing what I didn't know would be an issue; however, before the work began they let me know I had a problem with my plan, showed me which part to get, and then did a great job once I gave them what they needed. read more

The people at Bits N' Bytes really seem to know how to make an old computer work better and restore them to a newer condition. They have low-end, working computers and laptops for a fairly (or a questionably) reasonable price. That said, I believe unless you cannot, for whatever reason, afford a brand new retail computer, laptop or accessory please look elsewhere for your technology needs. I saw an 8400GS graphics card for $50!! $50??!! Sold new, that card is not worth more than $20. Some of their accessories I saw at almost 50% - 100% more than retail price. And don't get me started on selling anything there. If you can't sell your computer parts on Craigslist or any other venue, then you can go there and get 20-40% of what it's actually worth in cash. Go there if you're desperate! I understand needing to make a profit but rip-offs I don't understand in the least. Though with electronic recycling free of charge (some other places do charge/ others don't) And a friendly, knowledgeable staff they still get 2 stars. No need to go to that awful GeekSquad and get ripped-off there for repairs. read more

Got a ad in the mail I believe for this place, so decided to give it a try. Im not a computer guy and they were right down the road which was convenient. I have never been more disappointed in an experience with a service I am paying for. I walked into the store and after five minutes had to greet the store employees, who seemed agitated that I was there. I had an old lap top I was intending to trade in, knowing it probably was not worth much, the employee was quick to point out I had brought in a worthless piece of equipment, and he reluctantly gave me $5 credit towards the work i wished to have done. I also brought in my mac air which I needed cleaned up, and not only was the price twice what was advertised, there was literally no improvement in the computers performance, when they were done working on it. Later that week I called Apple care and , in 15 minutes , they had done more to help me improve my computers performance than $100+ and a weeks time with Bits n Bytes "Mac Specialist". Disappointed doesn't describe my experience, hopefully Im in the minority with my extremely negative experience with this company. I work in the service industry and I don't appreciate getting sub par service, just like my customers wouldn't. read more
