Getting rid of some stuff, and there was an aluminum stepladder. I called and asked if this would be treated as aluminum, since 99% of it is aluminum. I was told yes, it's treated as aluminum, but to hold a minute and they'd check for sure. She came back and said yes, she'd checked and it was treated that way. When I got there, I was told that it would be "dirty" aluminum, since there was a piece of plastic at the very top of the ladder, which was bolted on. As a result, it was worth 15 cents/lb rather than 50 cents/lb. Had I been told that when I called, I would have spent 5 minutes unbolting the plastic. As it was, I got almost enough out of it to pay for the gas to get it there. So, just be aware that even if you call with a specific question about a specific item and get an answer, you might get a different answer when you actually get there. read more

So, I've been recycling my aluminum here for quite some time. And I learned, because my cans come from my band house of The Dive Bar Knights, (so there's a lot of them). I empty them of all liquids, then crush them. If you do this, you can get $1 per pound. I found this out by talking to employees, and Clemente, who is there most of the time, that it takes more energy (electricity) to process them. So it's a good idea to empty and crush the cans, or else you get less money per pound. I found it's worth doing, to get some extra beer money. read more

People here are nice and the process is fast. The only issue I had is finding the place since the address on the site is incorrect. There is a small sign "we buy cans/plastic" that is located next to the address listed. Turn into that street and it's located around 1.5 blocks down. There is a large sign above the store that states they buy cans/plastic. Sort your plastics and cans into separate bags prior to coming here. The process is: 1) dump your cans/bottles into the bins provided 2)they'll weigh it 3) receive cash. This took like 5 minutes. read more

Still best place for $1 pound for aluminum cans. The challenge is their location moving twice since original and Yelp hasn't kept up with the address. I submitted an edit request on their behalf. Now (March 2025) at 1112 W Birchwood Ave north of Broadway. I had to stop at another recycler to find where they moved. The prior location on Country Club had a machine that kept rotating to crush the cans they poured in. They were filling a semi trailer that day to go to a smelter up around Glendale as I recall. At the Birchwood location, the attendant was driving his truck back and forth over a pile of cans to flatten them. read more

The moved two blocks south. I pulled in, and it's a service and tire shop now. They are now on Lewis, SW corner. Still the same basic setup. Put your aluminum and plastic in separate baskets, they weigh it, give you a slip you take to a window, and they give you your money. Still quick and efficient. It's a bit of a drive for me, but surprisingly there is only one other place near my home, and it seems a bit dodgy. So I save up my recyclables, and when I'm going to be in this area I load them in my car and drop them here. read more

Pull in , open your truck and they help assist in putting your trash bags on the scale for weight. Spent less than 10 minutes from start to finish & paid cash right away! I'm very frustrated with the way they conduct business here. 1st off, you can't believe what it says online even the hours of business, website says they're open Saturday from 8am to 4pm, I show up at 10:28am and the place is closed, even the sign on their door says Saturday 8-4. Okay, yeah! Four stars because it was so easy, and got a respectable amount of cash in hand for a huge bag of crushed cans. My son collects cans to make money, and Clean the Planet gets us in and out. (Cuz ain nobody got time for dragging cans around town so the kids can make chump change!) Amounts vary depending on what materials are going for, but I can say in August 2017, we got $1/pound. We filled a 39 gallon bag with crushed cans, it came to 24 pounds, and we received $24 in cash. Took about 60 seconds. The place ain't pretty; don't wear heels. This is people's garbage, folks, so expect it to be a funky errand, and wear close toed shoes and clothing you clean your house in. You go there, park, and bring your items up to the man at the scale. He weighs, gives you a slip of paper. You turn and put the paper through the hole at the bottom of the bulletproof opaque glass window, and a moment later, cash is pushed out toward you. The deal is done! read more

I went there today and had roughly 41lbs of plastic bottles; at least according to their scales. The dude subtracted 4lbs for the weight of the mesh basket; really, four pounds! I received $11.10. That comes out to .30/lb. Looks like Scott S got a great deal and/or I got swindled. Before China stopped buying our recyclables, I was getting $1/lb at another place but they are no longer around. These guys have always paid a buck a pound for cans so I always bring my cans here. I had to go twice the last time because they weren't open the first time I went but the next day I went during the middle of the day and they were open. There was only one guy so he had to weigh the items and then go into the cashier's booth to pay each time. So, it took me about 10 minutes because there was a small line but the gentleman doing the weighing and paying was real friendly. So, I give these guys five stars - an A+.
