First - I LOVE the atmosphere. Big and open, with great beaded curtains dividing the rooms. A super fun indoor/outdoor patio area that you can reserve for private parties. A nice large bar area with lots of seating at the bar, and lots of small tables. Happy hour - they have an amazing wine list, with long pours! They introduced me to Kim Crawford Sauv Blanc, which has become my favorite white. When I'm in the mood for red, they have a ton of options that I love. Not sure what you'll like? These bartenders actually know their wines and can provide recommendations based on your taste. Still don't know? Don't worry, they'll let you taste! Wines range from $6-$11 per glass. When I'm in the mood for a cocktail, B7 does fresh squeezed greyhounds - way superior to mixes, and perfect on hot summer days when you want a cold fresh cocktail! Happy hour food ranges from $5-$12 from a bowl of roasted (still warm!) rosemary cashews (yum!) to pizzas from their woodfire oven. My husband and I can easily make a dinner out of 2-3 small plates. As for dinner, I want to shout out to the seafood dishes (although there are other meat options). The miso crusted seabass is one of the best things I've ever eaten. They cook it in the woodfire oven and serve it still bubbling in its own juices, super moist, and perfectly flavored with the miso crust. The salmon is also crazy delicious! My husband and I have spent countless anniversaries and special occasions at B7, and have brought many out of town guests - it's been a surefire crowd-pleaser for us. But beyond special occasions, it's one of our favorites to just hang out at the bar. It has flown under the foodie scene radar, but is gaining in popularity, and deservedly so. read more

We finally got to eat here! I've tried several times but it always seems to be on a weekend. It was a Friday around 1pm and we were the only people in the place. I was really impressed by the incredible wine selection right off the bat. We opted to sit in the bar and it's beautiful. Ok, so on to some chow...we started with the calamari which is served in strips. The calamari was delicious but the breading almost completely fell off. Still forgivable with how good both the breading and the calamari was. On to my Mac and Cheese, which I ordered with the jalapeños. Oh my gawd, it was so creamy and delicious! And will wonders never cease, it was served with out bacon! YAYAYAY! This M&C was so good when I was driving home from Sacramento on Monday it was all I could think about. A friend had the grilled fish tacos and really enjoyed them. I'll let the hubby review his food himself :) I will warn you, they are proud of that amazing wine selection, as two glasses of a red blend set me back $26, but I didn't mind. Final word, you should eat here! read more

Bistro 7 - Delicious, creamy, and a little spicy. So good. - New American Near Me - Reno, Nevada

5 Stars just for the food! Bistro 7 has the absolute best carbonara pasta I've ever had. I had the carbonara with scallops. The scallops were perfect and not overcooked and rubbery. The flavor of the carbonara was amazing - not overcooked and clotted either. It was so creamy and flavorful. My boyfriend elected for the New York steak, medium, with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Absolutey amazing. Perfectly cooked. We had a appetizer platter with cheese, nuts, dips, olives - so good an rich. The price is $$ and the ambiance is quiet and romantic. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves. read more

I don't know why theres so much hate for this place! Randomly decided to come here for lunch, and I was pleasantly surprised. The decor is very modern and completely different from anything I've seen in the rest of town. I got the truffle chicken sausage pizza with potato and pears, and it was delicious! The pizza is made fresh (you can see them make it by the woodfire oven) with a thin crust and crispy edges. I had enough leftover for another meal. For $12, I think this is not bad at all. They also had other items on the menu - burgers, soups, salads - that sounded interesting. Drop this place in the middle of west LA/ Hollywood, and it would fit right in. read more

Several co-workers and I were treated to dinner as an appreciation from one of our customers. We had approximately 15 people at our table. I didn't get our server's name, but he was an older gentleman that spoke with a bit of an accent, not sure from where, but he was very polite and efficient. We ordered multiples appetizers: Homemade Deviled Eggs - local free range farm eggs with a spicy kick These were terrific, fluffy yet creamy and the spicy kick was a very pleasant addition Artichoke Spinach Dip - served warm with flatbread This was my favorite. Very good, full of flavor Crispy Calamari Fries - hand-cut calamari, sweet chile dipping sauce These were the largest pieces of calamari that I have ever had. When I say large, one of the pieces was almost as thick as a hotdog and somewhere between the length of a standard hotdog and a foot long. I was worried how they would be cooked, being so large, but it was perfection. The breading was nice a crunch, yet not dry. The calamari itself was very tasty, not rubbery at all. I didn't really care for the cause, as it seemed more like a sweet and sour based sauce, than a chili based sauce. For my entree, I decided to get a steak: Reno Ribeye 14 oz., sautéed mushrooms, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetable (Apsaragus) I ordered the steak medium rare and that is exactly how it was cooked. While I can say that the steak was delicious, I feel that the price they are charging, you can find just as good, if not better, larger and cheaper, elsewhere. The potatoes were creamy, but also had nice "chunks" in there for texture. The asparagus was crunchy and full of flavor. While I didn't care for the modern theme or the layout of the place, I can see why people do like coming here. I cannot see myself coming here on a regular basis, when there are so many other places to choose from closer to where I live and provide a more enjoyable experience, and do not hit my pocket book as hard. read more

Ok WOW! I can't believe I've never heard of this restaurant! I came here for my birthday dinner and couldn't be happier. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and it is way bigger than I expected. I love the feel you get when you walk into the restaurant. They have a great playlist playing. There is nothing else I love more than listening to John Mayer and eating delicious food. Andrea was probably the nicest server I've ever met! I came here wanting the scallop carbonara because I saw a picture on Yelp. I noticed it wasn't on the menu but I asked anyways. Andrea was super accommodating and asked the chef if he was able to make it for me. The picture was super old but he was still able to make it as close as possible for me! When I received it, it was SO GOOD. The pasta and scallops were cooked perfectly. The scallops were also a great size. My boyfriend ordered the bistro burger which was huge! He ordered it medium and it was also cooked perfectly. I am super impressed! My boyfriend also told the host it was my birthday and they brought out a nice ice cream coffee/toffee cake. Thank you for a great birthday dinner! read more

Amazing food great wine selection, amazing ambiance. Loved our waitress Megan will definitely be back.

A great experience from beginning to end even with the waitress treating us to a story about her dad in short orange shorts. I was entertained by that story and it goes to prove that although they have very smart, modern decor, it's still casual and that's what I look for in restaurants with great food. I wanted to treat my parents to just that for their great hospitality during my visit with them. With my stellar OpenTable skills and nose (and tummy) for good food, it was a no-brainer. Having tried to preview the menu on their site, I was re-directed to a viagra website, hmmm. So I decided to search elsewhere on the interwebz for some semblance of their offerings. Notables like Cedar Plank Salmon and Bison Bolognese peaked my interest so I and my parents settled for both respectively. I perhaps shouldn't have but I added a french onion soup along with my dad but it was worth the added water weight. The soup was somewhat salty (like most french onion soups traditionally are) but the other flavors, gruyere cheese and rustic french bread round saved the day. On came my Cedar Plank Salmon with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Sautéed Kale. The salmon was cooked to perfection and actually rested on an herb butter soaked cedar plank with a pesto sauce atop. It flaked exactly as it should've and the marrying of the flavors only enhanced the experience. To help all of that down the mashed potatoes were impeccable with the right amount of creaminess and of course garlic. Finishing off the entree was beautifully emerald-hued kale, the flavors were phenomenal which I would assume involved a scant amount of butter and perhaps garlic. Everyone at the table was pleased and glad we came. A definite return is in order. read more

My daughters took me to Bistro 7 for Mothers Day and I have to say it was probably one of the most delicious meals I've had. Bistro 7, truly an example of when once was not enough. Last month I met my girlfriends, "the Gal Pals" here for drinks and dinner. We've been friends for a long time, so we spend more time catching up than really appreciating the subtleties of the dining experience. That said, I did notice the trendy atmosphere and that the food did not disappoint, so I felt another visit was warranted. Tonight, dinner out with my husband and two friends, and all were willing to share their opinions , and a bite or two. The ambiance of Bistro 7 is very nice. The lighting is just right, the decor is modern but not pretentious, the service is friendly, prompt but not rushed and overall, just very comfortable. We began at a table in the bar area, and ordered two appetizers-brie potstickers and chips with blue cheese. I mean, how can you go wrong with those combos...well, I guess you can, but they didn't- excellent! Two of us ordered the plank salmon, very good and we'll prepared, my husband had the Lemon Grass Braised short ribs, also delicious but everyone agreed that their favorite taste of the evening was the Miso Crusted Chilean Sea Bass. After two hours we ended our evening completely sated. I have nothing negative to say, at all. A perfect evening...we will definitely return. read more

I'm hesitant to Yelp this place because I feel like it's some sort of secret in Reno...the food here is insanely delicious and reasonably priced. I came for a friend's birthday dinner and enjoyed myself immensely. The place is spacious - not overly swanky, but definitely a "nice" restaurant. I tasted the crab cakes (good), mac 'n cheese (shells are not my fave, but I wouldn't mind this again...and again...and again), ribs (excellent), miso crusted seabass (omg, I wanted to demolish it all...but given that it was the birthday girl's entree, I thought it'd be kinda mean) and the cheesburger sliders (SO delicate and delicious). Minus 1 star for our mildy grumpy/standoffish waitress. Boo. read more

This is the second time we have been to Bistro 7. They were very helpful to me on my dietary restrictions. The food was fresh. The food was served at the correct temperature. The order was correct. Modern and sleek interior design with outdoor seating under an awning. Green bean fries were a healthier spin on the traditional fry but just as decadent. Driven by this place many times so we thought since it's the new year we would give it a try, (wanting to try something new). Well it's ok. The wife had the pulled pork and it was a 7 out of 10 and I had the fish tacos and they were a 4 out of 10 . I will say the Brie pot stickers are great. The service was very good as well. So for the price we have our other spots that are the same price but better food. So I have to give this place three stars read more

Friday night I died and went to food heaven. I had to really think hard to find any constructive criticism for this place - I will include that tidbit at the end of this review. My boyfriend and I enjoyed a 6:30 reservation with his business partners and their ladies at Bistro 7. We got a nice semi-private table in the back near the fire stove kitchen. Bistro 7 really does require business attire and we were dressed to suit as most of the other guests in the restaurant. Our waitress was extremely polite and attentive. We ordered 3 shared table appetizers which included crisp green beans, artichoke dip with pita bread and calamari. The calamari was a masterpiece with a sauce that complimented the thick flavor like nothing I have ever tasted before. The entrees ordered were a mix between the Filet Mignon, Salmon and Scallops. I myself enjoyed the Scallops and they were amazing. They were fresh, large, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The dish included 8 of them although I could have ate twice that many as they melted in my mouth. We split a Crème Brulee with a Raspberry Tart topping which was equally as wonderful. The rest of the couples also split desserts or after dinner dessert coffee. On top of all the wonderful food our bill included 13 bottles of wine that the group enjoyed. The total bill for the evening was just under $1400.00 which is not bad considering the size of the group and the amount of food/drink consumed. The wait staff and management was incredibly accommodating to our request as we sat and talked business or personal for just over 5 hours. The ambiance is as romantic and elegant as you can get for the Reno area. It was a wonderful evening and like I said I really had to stretch to think of anything even close to negative. Here are my two tiny thoughts: #1 - chefs should be dressed a tad nicer. Perhaps black chef outfits to go with the branding of the building. #2 - a dress code should be implemented. As previously stated most of the patrons were dressed in suit or business shirts but their was a gentleman and his date on the other end of the restaurants wearing sweat shirts. I look forward to our next visit to Bistro 7. read more

I would definitely check out this restaurant again! We visited for the first time on a Wed evening and ate in the main dining room (versus bar area). I had a beautiful piece of fish, the miso crusted Chilean sea bass. The sweet soy glaze was a bit too sweet for me, although the fish was cooked to perfection and I finished it off with the help of my fiancé! The forbidden rice and asparagus went well with the fish. I also enjoyed a lovely house cab and they offer a wide selection of beers/mixed drinks. It was not busy the night we dined here, so it was quiet. I think next time we will check out the happy hour prices instead of a formal sit down dinner. The bar has a great setup and looks like it will be more out style! read more

I came here tonight with my family for my sons 16th birthday. When we mentioned birthday the waitress said we will bring you a dessert you buy and you can do your own singing. First of all we didn't ask for singing, we were clearly stating we are at your place for a celebration of a birthday. We have appetizers including the steam clams. I notice another table has bread. I ask the waitress for bread and her response was, oh you want more. No, we never ask for bread and she never states that the bread is cooked to order. By the time we get the bread to dip into the buttery steam clam sauce the sauce is now cold. We order a bison burger, fish tacos, chicken pizza and filet mignon. Food comes out not being prepared to my sons liking. Burger was well done. Waitress never comes back to check on us for the next 10 minutes. We were waiting for simple things like salt and pepper and to let the waitress know the burger was not cooked as ordered. By this time we have all shared meals and don't need another burger made. Due to the long length of time waiting for our waitress we made it work so we could all eat at once. When the waitress finally comes over she did not apologize, ask if there was anything she could do to make it better or offer different meal. Along with a horrible dining experience, the restaurant was overly hot. I had to watch sweat pearl up on our faces as we are trying to an enjoy our meal. This was our first and last time dining here! read more

Yes. The menu is awesome, great food and romantic atmosphere. Central location for Reno. Staff is 5 star. One of our favorite restaurants.

The menu has improved so much the last few months. Love the calamari and so many other items! Great bar and great wine selection.

First timeSo far on this first trip to Bistro 7 I have only sampled the green bean fries. They are OK but I think if they used a lighter batter on the vegetable so they didn't have to cook it so long to get it crispy the green beans would stay a little more firm and be tastier. I have ordered the steak frites but they will have to go some to please me with that. I have eaten this dish all over France so I know what is this supposed to be like. More later on that. I won't be sampling the wine tonight as I am the driver. After finishing dinner I have to say it was nothing like steak frites in France. The meat (I could not tell you what cut it was) was very thick and perfectly cooked to medium rare. It was drowning in Bordelaise Sauce and béarnaise sauce. in France it would be a very thin piece of meat with little to no sauce. The fries were very thin and extra crispy as ordered. But they were covered with garlic and Parmesan which I have never seen in France. Service was not very professional but adequate. Table in front of me was sticky on the edge when I arrived. The atmosphere was the same as many other places in Reno. On a Thursday early evening it was full of young people drinking and visiting. I would try this place again when I can have a glass of wine because there were some things listed on the small plate menu that I would like to try. Very pricey! read more

I have had a late evening dinner here on several occasions and I was very pleased with the overall vibe of the place, quite a friendly and classy feel. I sat at the bar to order a drink and dinner and was very pleased. I have had their soup (very delicious) and their heirloom tomato burrata salad which was to die for! They have a friendly bartender and great beer, wine and liquor selection. Pricing is very reasonable and a great, off the beaten path place to dine or meet for cocktails in Reno! I would definitely recommend this place to a friend and look forward to going there again next time I am in town. read more

This is going to sound strange but I went to this restaurant twice today. Being from out of town, I am always looking for a good "go to" place so when I had to decide on dinner, I was craving a steak and I remembered they had a ribeye on the menu and the restaurant is only a few blocks down the street. I had a business meeting lunch and the gentlemen I was meeting suggested this place. I was surprised when I walked in with how nice and comfortable it was inside. I was quickly seated and ordered some edamame which was perfectly salted and delicious. When the group arrived for lunch, two of us ordered the salmon on the cedar plank with asparagus (we avoided the potatoes so our waists didn't get any bigger than they already are) and the other guy ordered the fish tacos. The salmon was cooked perfectly with a pesto crust. I give it a solid 10/10! The feedback on the tacos was very good too. I then returned for dinner and ordered the Caesar salad along with the ribeye with asparagus-no potatoes because I am fat. The salad was excellent and the steak was delicious and cooked perfect. My server, Brianna, took great care of me in the bar area and always had a pretty smile on her face. Overall, a great experience. You must try this place-have the ribeye, it's awesome! read more

Yummy! Can't wait until the Coronavirus is a thing of the past... we miss Bistro Seven!

If I could sum up my visit to this location it would be one big.... "MEH". I was thoroughly unimpressed with this restuarant, but unlike several places I have been that I gave similar ratings to, I think this is one that I will return to to give it a second chance. Let's start with the (limited) good parts about my experience. First off, the atmosphere is very well done. Quite a ritzy look with elegant decor without a doubt. When you walk into the restaurant it's pretty awesome. Well done on this part. Second, the appetizers we tried with quite satisfactory. We had the Tapas, Brie Potstickers, as well as the Thai Chicken Meatballs. Without a doubt the meatballs were the best hands down. The Brie was so so and it was wasn't warm at all when it was served. The Tapas had some good cheese, but olives aren't really my thing (it was my girlfriend's birthday, and she loves olives, hence why they were ordered). Overall the appetizers were decent and actually pretty good starters to a meal. That pretty much ends the positives though. Let's get into the disappointments. To start, the prices for the entrees are quite outrageous for the quality of the food. My girlfriend ordered the Cedar Plank Verlasso Salmon and it was a giant letdown. The salmon was bland, the "chef's potatoes" lacked any flavor at all, and the "pesto crust" didn't even taste like pesto. We were fully expecting a succulent flavorful dish, and this was absolutely not what was presented. A little flavor would go a long ways. I ordered the Bistro Burger which the description paints as a magical burger bursting with flavor, and it simply was not. The burger itself tasted like I could have ordered it at any fast food chain for sure. It was nothing special and well overpriced for sure. It is definitely not something I would recommend. To continue, the waitress we had was super nice, but not very observant of her customers. We finished our meal and wanted to check out a dessert menu, but for about 10-15 minutes we could not get her attention. We didn't want to be rude and wave her over or call out her name, so we sat patiently and tried to make awkward eye contact as she went to other tables. It wasn't incredibly busy in the place either, so I am honestly not sure what was going on there. In the end, I asked another waiter who was helping out the table next to us to see the dessert menu and he brought it over right away. All of these experiences pretty much left a bad taste in my mouth, and it wasn't just the flavorless salmon. However, the silver lining of Bistro 7 and possibly (hopefully) it's saving grace is the fact that it advertises an excellent happy hour. We were not able to make that, but I definitely would like to try that out as the appetizers were by far the best part of the meal for sure. I would love to try some of the others ones on the menu without a doubt, and I think another trip to this location may be in order. However, I do not foresee myself being fooled into ordered more overpriced entrees. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I hope to return to this review and have a much better experience to share, but for right now I am definitely not impressed at all. read more
