The first time I ever went to Bistro 7 I ordered the Pasta Piccata and it was exceptional. That being said the last few times I ordered that dish revealed a reduction in quality. This time around I tried out the grilled cheese sandwich. I can say that the quality was there but it needed more to get itself past an average dish. The bread, as evidenced by the picture, was thick. This gives it the risk of becoming soggy due to the tomato while in parallel the thick slices of bread can overpower everything else. The bottom slice of bread was soggy and the bread overpowered everything else. The dish was a failure. While the grilled cheese sandwich bombed the tomato brie soup soup was a homerun. I was disappointed with the butterscotch pudding as they gave a bit less than what they used to give :(. The grilled cheese sandwich needs better care with the grilling and placement of tomato as well as an aioli. I will say that I got quite a bit for what I paid. The bonus inclusion of two free cookies was a nice touch. As such I would still give it 4-stars. For a bit more you can get better grilled cheese sandwiches elsewhere, though the portion sizes and quality of ingredients will be reduced. The skill and care of the chef has a deep impact on the dish :). read more

If you're in Reno and looking for some good food! This is the spot! B7 or Bistro 7 is opened during covid. A face mask is required to enter and be seated. Reservations only to dine here and staff is masked up and using gloves. This was my first time dining here and it was amazing. The ambiance is nice and tables are spread apart to physically distance diners. Place looks both classy and romantic. There were four of us at dinner, so we decided to share some starters. We ordered a crunchy, tempura fried type roll and a summer salad. The roll was crispy and tasted amazing. It was dressed with a spicy and sweet sauce. The salad was plentiful to share for four people and was fresh, crisp and tasty. We ordered a bottle of Malbec red wine to accompany our dinner. The wine was nice, bold and went along great with our dinner. Three of us ordered the Miso crusted Chilean sea bass plate which was recommended by staff and it was AMAZING! The portion was big and very filling. The miso crusted Chilean sea basswas glazed and made the plate taste so good! One person ordered the porterhouse steak which was monstrous and looked juicy and perfectly made. All of the food was full of flavours and came out pretty quick. Service was great! Our staff were very attentive and checked up on us constantly making sure all of our needs were met! Definitely impressed with the food and service. Price was very reasonable for the amount of food we had and quality. Parking is plentiful with free lot parking in the shopping centre area. Next time I'm in Reno, I will definitely go again! read more

Hands down, one of the best locally owned restaurants in Reno. I haven't been disappointed in anything I've tried on the numerous occasions coming here over the years. Recently I have stopped in for the Happy Hour - 20% off food, plus beer, cocktail and wine specials, available in the bar only. Be sure to get in because they fill up fast in the bar. They have a great cocktail menu and small plates to share if you don't want a full entree. Service has always been friendly and well done. The ambiance is beautiful. Even though you could come in with casual apparel, you could also dress up and have a lovely date night here. I have celebrated my birthday here, date nights, happy hour and just regular dinner outings. They are great for any occasion and even offer private event space. I love the brie apricot potstickers, the green bean "fries" and lamb lollipops to name a few starters that standout for me. If you're a dessert person, the butterscotch pudding is stunning - rich, but so good. I love it here and will continue to come for more years to come. read more

Our first experience. We will definitely be back. The food and drinks were outstanding and the service exceptional. We are not big eaters so we took advantage of the appetizer menu - Crusted Ahi Tuna and Calamari (no rings, no tentacles). Great food. Great ambience. Great service. read more

Wish I had known about this place sooner- it came to mind when I was trying to find a place I hadn't tried for my brother's birthday and I'm glad we came here. The dining environment is on the elegant / nice side. And the food was amazing! I had their vegetarian pasta special and it wasn't too rich. The service was great! Pricing is on the more expensive side but the quality and presentation of the entrees does not disappoint. A great place for any dinner outing whether to celebrate an occasion or a date night- I recommend giving Bistro 7 a try! read more

Bistro 7 - Cedar plank salmon and the special: vegetarian pasta - New American Near Me - Reno, Nevada

Not recommended. This is my third visit to Bistro 7, and they have consistently given me reason to complain. It's seldom ever the service, which has ranged from good to great. It is occasionally the kitchen, offering tasty food cold (twice now), or adding something you asked to keep out. But my biggest complaint is the lack of value, and their reliance on being seen as a 'posh' restaurant to excuse their behavior. Ultimately, for close to $150 spent per person, I couldn't give our experience more than two stars... and that's only because Sarah was a good server. read more

Made reservations on Saturday night was quickly seated and staff were very attentive. This was our first time at bistro 7 and nicely surprised at the interior of the restaurant. We had the surf and turf appetizers which was very good. My wife tried the miso sea bass and I had the scallops which were the special for the night. The food was good fish was cooked perfectly. This is one of the top restaurants we have tried in Reno so far. read more

The food was terrific as were the drinks! The server was quite pleasant and efficient, and the owner stopped by to say hello. What was not to like?! We have guests coming to town in a week and we can hardly wait to take them to our new favorite place to eat! read more

Another place that should have way better execution for the prices and enviroment. I've been here a handful of times, and the food is truly hit or miss. Service is friendly, but slow. The first few times were average, nothing stands out as good or bad. We came for reno food week where my prix fixe meal was good (but heavy, the lardon shrimp alfredo pasta), but my husband's bison burger, which was supposed to be medium, was well done. Recently we came for happy hour. We ordered a bison burger again, and the seared tuna appetizer, about halfway into waiting for our food, I ordered the french dip sandwich with soup (split pea). It took nearly an hour to get our first order of food. The burger was cooked perfectly this time and my husband was happy, even though it's light on additions like ketchup, mustard, mayo etc. The seared tuna was like steak, and cooked too long, in my opinion, but the portion was generous. I would advise only using the Wasabi in the tube rather than the hand wadded powder mix kind which makes its look low end like a pile if playdough is sitting on your plate. The French dip came out fast compared to the first two plates, but the au jus had a film over it (like it had sat under the heat lamp) not to mention, zero, I mean zero flavor. My husband agreed with me. The split pea was also light on flavor, but was still good to me as I have drastically cut salt out of my diet. The sandwich supposedly had mushrooms but I honestly found two sliced mushrooms on the whole sandwich. I ended up taking it home and making my own au jus to finish it. The slice roast beef was good though and not rubbery. This place has potential and is clearly beloved but lots of people for me, it doesn't quite hit that bar of what it tries to be. Happy hour is legit and it makes the place fall in line a bit more expectations. Lastly, husband was very happy that Speckled Hen draft beer was on the menu if that interests you. read more

Bistro 7 is one of our newest favorite restaurants these days! The food is fantastic and the service is excellent! We're usually seated rather quickly and food comes fast. They have a lovely outside seating area too that can be covered when needed. Their wine menu is extensive, with many great wines by the bottle or glass! Personally, I prefer the cocktail list where they have delicious options such as the Grapefruit Crush or a lemon drop! For our meal I prefer the cedar plank salmon or one of their nice cuts of steak. read more

Awesome food and atmosphere! We went on my birthday Feb. 4th about 7pm ish. I know it's a Friday night and we didn't have reservations so it was surprising we got seated so quickly! I ordered the halibut, black rice and broccolini. My husband ordered the steak frites, and my youngest son ordered chicken tenders and my oldest daughter ordered a pizza. Our only issues had nothing to do with the food - The waitress was waiting on other people and we were clearly done for like 20 minutes. So that annoyed my husband.....what annoyed my was that she called my daughter a boy, basically asking "what do you two gentlemen" want to order? In a time of being considerate, and gender-bender looks, you would think people would possibly ask or try to avoid that kind of thing? read more

Bad bread pudding Decent miso encrusted sea bass. Decent Manhattan First time ever dining here and sat in Patio area for work dinner. Heard some really good things so my expectations were high. The patio area was freezing. And my feet were frozen. I asked to have them turn on more heaters. That had two not working. They said they were broken or out of gas. I ordered a Manhattan as a pre dinner cocktail. It was pretty good. Nothing crazy or amazing but wasn't bad. For my entree I had the miso encrusted sea bass. It was tasty and prepared nicely. It was over a dark kind of rice that I've never seen before. For dessert the bread pudding sounded incredible when reading from the menu. Unfortunately it came and what a disappointment. Undercooked and mushy in the middle. This was not a typical bread pudding made with bread but what seemed to be made with a batter and just baked. Several of us who ordered commented on how it wasn't up to par. Based on what I've heard, I must've just had a bad night there. I might consider trying again to see if they can impress. I guess we will see? Standby for update when I get around to going again. read more

I'm not sure there's a better combo than miso sea bass and a glass of nice wine. Bistro 7 does it right. Justin is 8$ a glass on hh and their fanciest plates run $35 or so. If you haven't been here for hh yet, you're missing out! 20% off all food items, $2 off each glass of wine. The staff is top notch also! Top sea item: sea bass, top land item: ribeye, top salad: beet, top desert: butterscotch pudding. You're welcome! read more

It took me WAY too long to write this review but here it is :) We arrived about 10 minutes early on our reservation but they seated us right away. Our server, Megan, was incredible: always attentive but never ever overwhelming or intruding. Food was delightful: the brie potstickers were really good but the calamari were outstanding... careful though: they are really filling so consider that when ordering. Salmon and steak frites were perfect and dessert... was HUGE! Incredibly good but huge: Megan was able to figure out a way for us to take it home even though there was the ice cream!! read more

We came here for happy hour. It was our first time and we really enjoyed it. Sean was the bartender and our server initially. He was great and very attentive. He was able to provide us with great options and drink ideas. The bar area was very well spread out. Lots of seating at the bar and at the high tops. Happy hour is only at the bar, but the main restaurant area had great seating and there were folks there as well. The food we ordered was very delicious and the drinks were solid. We also met Theresa and she was very friendly and helpful. She even was on top of refilling water. I always find that as an impressive aspect of any restaurant. We ordered the green bean fries, calamari, surf n turf tempura roll, brie potstickers, pizza, brie and tomato soup, and miso Chilean sea bass. Let's just say we loved it all. The wood fired pizza is a great size. The Chilean sea bass was just wow; lightly crusted with a wonderful sauce on top of black rice and side of asparagus. It was impressive for sure. If you can do sea bass right then I'm a fan. I'd go back for happy hour and/or just dinner. It was great. And when we left, Theresa let us know we could take a lil bite size cookie that they offer. It was perfect and such a nice touch. read more

Worthwhile happy hour but also so much more. Came here with my wife on a random weekday night for dinner. Fortunately for us it was during their happy hour so drinks and appetizers were all a few bucks cheaper. I had never heard anything about this place out side of yelp but my wife had a couple of colleagues rave about their happy hour so we decided it was worth visiting. You wouldn't guess it from the outside but the inside seating if quite nice and elegant for a date. Bar is also designed with a half wall divider separating both the bar seating and dinner seating. For appetizers we ordered their Spinach/Artichoke dip and Calamari fries. The dip came with Naan bread and was delicious. The Calamari fries on the other hand not so much. We both tasted one and didn't go back. They were thick cut and soggy, complete opposite of what we were expecting. The waitress did an excellent job though when she noticed that they were untouched on our table and asked if we didn't enjoy them. Being honest we said we didn't and why that was. She did the right thing by taking them away and removing the cost from our bill without us even asking for it. For dinner, the wife stuck to the happy hour appetizer menu and ordered their Steamed Clams and I went with their Bistro Burger w/ Garlic fries. Both of us enjoyed our choices. All in all the night ran us $60 after a generous tip and both having a couple drinks. Will absolutely be back. read more

To die for! I took my life partner out to celebrate his birthday and let me tell you, it was fabulous! We were seated in Tara's section and I think it was just one of those things like it was meant to be. She recommended our entire order and she was spot on with every dish. From the delicious cashews (you still owe me that recipe), to the salad (we wanted to split it but Tara could feel the love in the air and we shared the same bowl), the succulent lamb chops (wasn't the last bone that night), the sea bass with that forbidden rice (my partner kept thinking it was halibut but whatever fish that was, it was incredible), to the wine (a hand picked Pinot from our favorite Oregon Estate)... the night was as perfect as the service we received. Tara even bought us a dessert for my wittle MT on his birthday! Just a perfect night, great atmosphere, great decor, amazing food and an incredible partner. Cheers to you all at Bistro 7 and thank you Tara for making our night one of our most memorable nights to date. read more

I was told to try this place for Happy Hour and I'm so glad I did! The ambiance is nice and welcoming, and I didn't realize they also have a very cute outdoor space! The waiter was very attentive and gave great cocktail recommendations. If you also don't like sweet drinks, their mezcal cocktail is the way to go! My friend really enjoyed her lemon drop, if you prefer sweeter. Their menu has so many tempting options, between the three of us, we decided on six different apps to share. The surf and turf tempura roll is so delicious! It's a fun take on a sushi roll and you just need to try it! We also really enjoyed the green bean fries with the delicious dipping sauce - good recommendation by the server! The New Orleans shrimp was also good, as were the cashews! I'd probably skip the pulled pork nachos - nothing special compared to everything else. Can't wait to come back and try the wood fire pizza or any of the main dishes (which all looked so good - we were just too full from the apps). Definitely also a good date spot! read more

Came here with a group of 20 for a work event. They gave us a limited menu that had a good variety of options on it. We had a lot of shared appetizers. The spinach dip was d-lightful! Hubby and I had a date night here, and opted for the Reno food week prix fix menu. Made a reservation for 6:00, but came early, and had a happy hour drink. Service is excellent! Blaire was our server, and was wonderful! We started with their strawberry salad, which was light and delicious. hubby got the scallops carbonara and I got the surf n' turf. The scallop dish was amazing! I was worried it would be too heavy, so I didn't order it, but it was light and flavorful, and my generous hubby let me steal more than one bite. The surf n' turf was really great, but the hollandaise sauce was pretty tart, so I scraped most of it off the dish. The third course of our prix fix meal was the peaches and mango ice cream pie with ginger snaps. I almost forgot to take a picture because I couldn't wait to dive in! Perfect refreshing end to our meal! Overall, a wonderful date night! read more

We dropped in for happy hour and can't believe what a gem this place is!! There's plenty of parking onsite and the inside is so cozy and well decorated- it was very inviting and the noise level was perfect for a conversation at the table. The staff were friendly, had great suggestions, and were always there when we needed them! I tried the Blueberry Lemon Drop and the grilled pear sour and loved both. I like my drinks sweet and both of this hit the spot! Since it was happy hour, we ordered an assortment of appetizers for the table. Pulled Pork Nachos- loved the crispy wonton chips, and the portion of pulled pork was VERY generous. I'd say eat this one quickly as the longer it sat in the delicious juice, the chips got soggy. Delicious overall! Crispy green beans- crunchy, very fresh veggies, and had a delicious dipping sauce! Surf & Turf roll- this was a HIT at the table. It had a great balance of flavors and I could have had another of these for sure! Calamari- thicker than I'm used to for calamari but absolutely delicious, crunchy outside and tender inside and had a sweet chili dipping sauce on the side which was unique and a great combo. New Orleans Shrimp- only a few shrimp in this one but plenty of bread to soak up all of the flavorful sauce. Wood Fired Cashews- this would be such a perfect snack to have as you're drinking a few beers, they were delightfully warm and the flavoring is incredible. I would buy a bag of these! The menu itself looks wonderful too, we saw a few dinner items go to tables around us and everything looked and smelled amazing- we can't wait to come back to try dinner! read more

We had dinner, sat down for a cocktail. We got our drinks after 15 minutes. Then we couldn't transfer bar tab to the restaurant because they didn't have the software to do that. After we were sat for dinner, we proceeded to have delivery of multiple drinks that we didn't order. The server was rather flippant about serving us saying she didn't want us to starve. She laughed about forgetting a drink. Then continued to talk about us not getting starved. At one point she said she couldn't bring us our bill because she had to serve champagne to other customers. The whole sercing experience was a little odd. We ordered sea bass that was too sweet. The whole experience was rather odd. read more

I went here on Valentine's with my Partner and enjoyed their 4 course Valentine's Special. We were not disappointed! We loved this place. Each course amazing from start to finish. The main course dishes were very big, and very tasty, but I could not finish all of the food. I would like to return to try their usual menu to compare experiences. read more

The weather outside is frightful, but the Bison Bolognese is so delightful. Fresh pappardelle is al dente, and they keep it simple with a buttery, super-savory beef-on-steroids. There's a Miso Crusted Chilean Sea Bass, more of a delicacy but a comfort food all the same. There's a sweet soy glaze which is bit more congealed than I like, but I don't dislike it either. The sea bass itself is good, and the texture of the forbidden rice is right on. They let the firm grains get a little crispy, and it is delicious. It's not my favorite place in Reno, but it's still pretty good. If you want something nice and somewhat-fine dining, you could do a lot worse. read more

Bartender Shawn was fantastic. Engaging and friendly and made sitting at the bar alone having dinner a fun experience. Atmosphere is really cool if you're into wine and they have an interesting and deep wine selection. Free homemade cookies on the way out were really good too. Four stars instead of five because the Reno Ribeye, while properly cooked and tender, lacked any seasoning at all. No salt available on bar near me meant I was eating a very nice piece of meat, properly cooked, totally underpowered on flavor. Bummer. Hopefully just a fluke. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine's and our reservation was a bit late 8:45pm. Everything was good at the beginning especially the server and the appetizers but for somehow they made us wait for 20mins for our entrees. We was very upset as there is a couple that arrived later than us but they got their entrees BEFORE us. They only served fixed menu for Valentines btw. Appetizers: we had tuna tartare and lamb lollipops which were very good. The soups were not bad either but the entrees were bad. My boyfriend got the halibut Wellington and it was very dry. I got New York steak medium rare; it was ok at first but I got chewy. The desserts were okay. I forgot what we had. I don't know if we are going to come back and give it another try. My boyfriend chose a halibut Wellington but it was very dry. read more
