This place has a couple of specials that were awesome. They have a Sunday burger special and an early bird special. The group I was with enjoyed their meals as did I. Service was good and the price was fair.

After a long morning in Sabino Canyon, we were able to walk to this bar for happy hour and wine/beer. I had a wedge salad and was amazed at the amount of bacon and cheese on it! Husband had three sliders and I had one and he finished the salad. Lots of locals here, and a few tourists. Would totally recommend the establishment, especially for HH. Service was incredibly attentive, too.

The service at this restaurant was excellent. Our server was very attentive. The ambience was casual and comfortable. I ordered the brazed ribs with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus was phenomenal. I enjoyed the braised ribs and mashed potatoes.

Lunch before, dinner now. Our hostess was so warm she reminds me of a summer breeze. The ambiance felt dewy due to the typhoon that's coming, but it relaxed me. Most importantly- the food and drinks came at the perfect time and hit the perfect spot. Server did his job impeccably there's nothing to complain about. 4.5 stars. I'll be a comeback kid.

Our party of six rolled in for dinner on Wednesday evening. I called ahead and they reserved a table for us right behind a group of Tucson retirees who were break g down their trips, news about their families and all the haps at the retirement center. We were greeted and given an overview of the specials not listed on the menu. Most of us selected the 14oz Ribeye which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Bite size bread came out before the meal and was okay as something to munch on before the diner course arrived. The steaks were good sized, mashed was of good consistency and the veggies cooked well, not too hard or soft-right in between. The flavor on everything was a little bland honestly, I don't think any of it had seasoning. Salt and pepper were absolutely necessary and even then, didn't add all that much to the flavor. Good, but not great. I kinda expected a little more from a place that appears to be more upscale.

Short ribs with delicious mashed potatoes

A few weeks ago my husband and I drove past and commented on how we have never been there but should, as they must be good to have lasted so long. Then, as fate would have it, we had a friend of the daughter with us the other night and her family is only doing restaurants with patios. Here was our chance! Not only does bistro 44 have a patio, but they have misters too. We were seated quickly and the server was friendly and helpful. She gave us the long list of specials and helped us make selections. She brought fresh delicious bread and kept our waters filled. The food was great, especially the mashed potatoes served with the short ribs. Not sure what herbs were in them, but delcious. My husbands steak was perfectly done, which he almost never thinks happen. My daughter really enjoyed her Cuban sandwich and the old bay seasoning on the fries is fantastic. We have heard good things about the burgers, so will be back for a 1/2 off Sunday

When we walked in at 6pm, the restaurant was almost at capacity. The entryway and dining room was buzzing with people. The service was courteous and timely, we never lacked water or bread or anything else for that matter. We were celebrating a birthday and the birthday card that was presented at the dinner table was a nice touch. My cousin also received some chocolate bon bons that were really good. My family and I shared the oysters, shrimp cocktail, onion rings, potatoes au gratin, pork chops, and rib eyes; for dessert, we shared the lava cake. Everything was made perfectly. The chops and steaks were juicy, the seafood was plump and fresh and the entree sides were hot and tasty. The bon bon chocolate was rich and velvety. I wish the chocolate in the lava cake was just as good, but it was a smidge not as rich in flavor. Nonetheless, we all left the restaurant full and very happy. I wholeheartedly recommend going to Fleming's and enjoying a nice steak dinner.

We made a reservation well in advance and even then there were limited time options. The atmosphere of the restaurant is slightly upscale while still being cozy. I love all the plants! Our server was very knowledgeable and was able to give several recommendations. We ordered the grilled and chilled beets and the steak skewers for appetizers. The beets and everything that came with them was very fresh! I love anything with pickled onions. The steak appetizer was excellent and my dad could not stop talking about them. Next, I ordered the swordfish special and my dad got the pork chop. Everything was cooked to perfection and flavor was everywhere! For dessert we split the dark chocolate ganache. The ganache was very rich but paired wonderfully with the whipped cream and other flavors. I don't drink, but my dad also loved the cocktails he ordered! If Tito & Pep has been on your list do not hesitate any longer. I very much regret not coming here sooner and I highly recommend giving it a try!

The first thing I need to own is that it's a shame I hadn't visited here before. We arrived at 5:30p and both the bar and patio areas were packed - standing room only, and no wonder. They have one of the better happy hours (daily! 3:00 - 6:30p) - able to accommodate both the slacker and the over-timer Lol. Basic drinks are all discounted such as house wines, well drinks, and beers. Their bottled wines and craft cocktails are all exempt though. Many of their appetizers are also discounted and some quite substantially. We grabbed a glass of the house cabernet ($6, normally $8) and the grilled shrimp wrapped in jalapeno bacon ($13, normally $20). NOTE: happy hour pricing is Only available if you order/consume at the bar or on the patio at that's clear in advance and understandable. The dining areas were only half full at this early point (but filled up by 6:30) and the host kindly encouraged us to enjoy our starters at the bar as she would hold our table. We were then sat near the "back" of this long venue and frankly, aside from the lone windowed table at the very front, this would be my preferred seating - cozy, intimate, with only five other tables around us. For dinner drinks she got an Italian Nebbiolo Bricco Magno Red Blend ($13/glass, reliably terrific/mellow) and I got the Chupacabra ($15) Mezcal/prickly pear cocktail, strong and excellent as well. We got an additional appetizer: the roasted bone marrow ($19). I had never had before but she raved about how good this can be if done properly (bonus, it is super healthy). Folks, a picture/worth a 1000... suffice to say this was simply outstanding! We both had long work weeks and were craving meat - just a damn good steak. Our waiter, without blinking recommended the 8oz bison filet mignon ($65) as his absolute menu fav, and the day's special: 14oz ribeye ($50). We ordered each. All dinners come with two sides and we each got the day's special: roasted half artichoke and she got the loaded baked potato while I got the mashed potatoes. Food arrived in about 15 minutes later at good temperature (warm/rested with a strong char) with each being accurately grilled (medium and medium-rare). Taste was outstanding. Neither one of us had bison filet before and marveled how it (subtly) added a "wild" edge to an always outstanding, lean-but-tender, cut of beef. The loaded baked was terrific, however, the mashed was the only disappointment... a plainer mash one could not make themselves - pure white and borderline dry, no milk, butter, egg, gravy(?), nothing to make it creamy or add any flavor dimension - a surprise frankly. The only other "critique" is that the dessert menu could add some kind of dark/chocolate concoction. All in all, though, we loved our experience and have decided to add this to our periodic special dinners rotation! Staff was outstanding - just the proper balance of attentive and quiet - and waters never went below half empty. Parking is free and plentiful, especially behind the restaurant (and yes, if you continue on around the back there is another long entrance/exit driveway that comes out the other side of Jimmy John's and Noodleholics.

I understand the head chef has a French influence, but frankly it overwhelms the food and takes away from the freshness. I had the snapper since they didn't have the halibut. It seemed over cooked and then drenched in sauce with greens on top, also drenched in sauce. The saddest part was they sat us in the back room. Where they seemed to sit everyone coming into the restaurant. If the restaurant was packed I would understand but every other room was empty. Who wants to sit along the pathway to the bathroom? Service was so/so. Had to ask for drinks multiple times. But frankly the quality of the food was not worth the cost. Definitely will not be returning, until they revamp the menu to include less French style and more uniquely inspired fresh food. I mean if we wanted French we would have gone to Le Rendezvous or Wild Garlic which are top notch.

It's right next to the University of Arizona on university and I loved it so much, I came back three nights in a row. Call me a creature of habit, but when you're out of town and you find something excellent, it's worth going back. It definitely has more of a bar vibe than it does a restaurant, but the food I ordered was incredible. If you're hungry, don't look at my pictures. Lol. With that area of town being so crowded, I thought parking was going to be an issue, but I found a spot right near the front of the restaurant every time. I walked right in, ordered at the bar, and was in and out in less than 12 minutes every time. On top of it all, I had the same person helping me from behind the bar each time and she was incredible. Friendly, accommodating, and if I was the manager, she'd be getting a raise. Ask for Alyssa and you won't be disappointed. Needless to say, anytime I am in Tucson, Arizona, I no longer have to search for a restaurant that I like. I'll definitely be back. PS - When they saw me come in for the third night in a row, the chef blessed me with a free slice of raspberry pie. That's quality customer service right there. Love this place.

I ended up paying $20 for my meal but would have easily paid up to $30 at a different restaurant and it would have came out not being anywhere near as good as this!
