What's up Yelpies!!! So you just flew in to Portland and are looking for something to eat to tame the beast in you.. This is the place to be. Why you ask ??? Well how about everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. The staff here knows this and will get you taken care of quickly. The chicken is epic and the drinks are delicious. Cheers DMK..

Visited with a friend since it's in the neighborhood. There is lots of indoor seating. Prices aren't too bad. I honestly wasn't a fan of the food. The vodka pizza was lacking some flavor or salt. The cold mozzarella was all over the pizza and made it cold. The ragu was not very rich and satiating. You could tell that it was packed with veggies. I don't think I would get either of these again. The inside is clean and nice and lots of people were there.

This place is awesome and super close to the airport. It's a great pre-boarding meal or a welcome back to Portland meal after you have landed. The grilled cheese has a crunchy crust and is perfect for dipping in the tomato soup! The ham sandwich has the right amount of kick with jalapeños and the creaminess of avocado! The star of the show is the broccoli side- it's buttery and the lemon tops it off-- super simple but hot dang it's good.

Having driven by Bistro 23 countless times, I was happy to be able to finally stop in. The best part of the visit was the friendliness of the staff, but the experience is a bit weird. Each table is numbered, and you place your order and pay at the counter before you're seated. After you've ordered, they assign you to a numbered table, and point to where it is. Seems weird to tip before you're served, especially with this sort of twist on fast food table service. The food itself was OK. Nothing noteworthy, but nothing particularly bad. Portion size is small. Bottles of water are provided, presumably to prevent staff from having to keep an eye out and bring water to patrons (convenient, yes). Interior is bright and clean, but noisier than expected (loud patrons at another table). If you're in the neighborhood, it's worth stopping in, but I'd not go out of my way for a return visit.

On our way back to our hotel, we decided to pick up some dinner so we wouldn't have to leave the hotel again. Based on yelp reviews, we decided to try Bistro 23. To be honest, when I found it, I judged this book by its cover. I probably would not have stopped if it hadn't been for the reviews. It looks more like a store front than it does a restaurant. Inside, there were some customers spread out in a large and spacious but somewhat sterile looking dining room. But she went inside to order, while I walked around with the dog outside. Pig in the Woods Pizza - 5 - Probably one of the best "Personal-size" pizzas I've ever had. The crust was tasty and not too thick. Ham was good, as were the mushrooms. The arugula on top was a bit wilted after a short drive. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not but it did not hurt the quality of the pie. Caesar Salad - 5 - She was very pleased with her salad. Dressing was on the side so the lettuce didn't get soggy. Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Basil Soup Combo - 5 - She ate 1/2 hot and the other half cold, the next morning. Tiramisu - 5 - Light and fluffy! The menu is small, but they do it quite well. We would not hesitate to return for another go!

The BEST brick chicken with mashed potatoes

This is definitely a restaurant you don't want to miss! Make time to stop by either on your way out or way into PDX as it is really close to the airport. You will not be disappointed. Our favorites are the brick chicken and the sausage and peppers pizza (we love adding pepperoni to this). Let me just say the brick chicken will be nothing like you've ever had before.....you'll be back for more! It is super delicious and it's served with buttery mashed potatoes with a perfect pinch of truffle oil. Squeeze some lemon juice on top of the chicken that's crispy on the outside and dusted with chives. We also had a red Caesar salad (so so good). They also made the best homemade cookies.

Great farm to table spot. Counter service, but they do check on you through. Despite how bust they were at the counter, they got us drink refills when they walked by and we didn't have to stand in line. since their menu is fresh, they do run out of things, but they were quick to let us know before we ordered anything. I think I could eat their broccolini everyday and never get tired if it.

    Great beer!!!

Great service, we were from out of town and picked this spot due to reviews and DEFINITELY a great pick. Again service was great and enjoyed the environment.

This is what I would call a hidden gem! This place deserves more recognition! I love their sandwiches, salads, and pizza! Service is always good, the staff is always really nice & friendly. I recently went back since I heard they put their grilled cheese & tomato soup back on the menu. It is phenomal! Just a basic grilled cheese & tomato soup but done right! The tomato soup is so delicious & creamy & grilled cheese, crispy on the outside with melted gooey Gouda inside. Restaurant is kind of cozy, great place to catch lunch with some friends. I need to go back & try their entrees!

I visited the restaurant on the recommendation of a local. It was 4:30 PM on a Tuesday and there was NO ONE in the entire huge seating area. A helpful man took my to-go order that was ready in less than 15 minutes. That's about it.

Super cute bistro with a fresh menu of sandwiches, burgers and pizzas! They have a relaxing outdoors area and indoors dining. Pizza was light and crust was good. Burger is sumptuous and juicy. Service is nice and friendly. I'd go back there!

A pretty strong contender for the best pork chop I've ever had, and I've eaten many a pork chop. It's gotta be in the top 5. I was gnawing at the bone like a dog with no shame. My wife had the brick chicken, which she loved. We also shared the burrata, super delicious. It's a nice place, no doubt that we'll be back. I saw one of the servers walking past with a pizza and it looked amazing, so I'm excited to try it someday

This is one of my favorite hidden gems. Casual atmosphere and the service here has always been amazing! The staff is welcoming and the food is always prepared fresh! Even their pick up orders do not disappoint! I pre ordered a meal for pick up, arrived about 5 min before my pick up time and my food was just finishing up being prepared. I had ordered a grilled a cheese and thought maybe it would be a bit soggy (as most pick up places have the food done fast and sitting), but mines was hot, fresh and toasty. The fried polenta is my favorite thing on the menu, but everything I've tried so far has been delicious!

    Is the patio dog friendly?

Yes, we've brought our pup. Best to have someone grab a table with your pooch and another person go inside to order. Your food will be brought out to you!

Do they serve wine? I see lots of beer and mixed drinks but wine not mentioned

Yes. I've had chardonnays and Pinot noirs. Typically smaller, local brands.

Christmas Eve Magic, Molten Cheese, and Dive Bar Greatness!…read more Hello!!!!!! How have I been living in Portland and not known that Sandy Jug Tavern is serving up one of the best burgers in town? We swung by on a very busy Christmas Eve and were immediately hit with that perfect, cozy tavern glow. If you haven't been, the vibe is pure "Old Portland"--historic, unpretentious, and effortlessly cool. We managed to snag a spot near the bar, which was the perfect vantage point to watch the holiday chaos while sipping on our Christmas Old Fashioneds. Our trio went all in: a Juicy Lucy, a Chopped Cheese, and a BLT. I tried to play it safe and go the "healthy" route with the BLT--which was fresh and crisp--but the Juicy Lucy absolutely stole the show! As a group of self-proclaimed burger connoisseurs, we were floored. We're talking a thick, hand-pressed patty stuffed with molten American cheese that literally oozes with every bite. PRO TIP: Exercise some holiday restraint and let it sit for a minute so you don't incinerate your tongue on that delicious cheese lava! Not to be outdone, the Chopped Cheese was a gritty, glorious masterpiece--the perfect NYC-style love child of a cheeseburger and a Philly cheesesteak. Between the historic "Jug" setting, the friendly holiday service, and the cheese-stuffed heaven on a plate, our bellies left very, very happy. This isn't just a meal; it's a PDX rite of passage. We will definitely be back!

Everything we got was so yummy, burgers were amazing for what you get and the fries are the perfect size. The mozzarella sticks did kind of fall apart but overall the flavor was there.
