Meh. Ordered the steak salad, and was asked how we want the steak cooked - "medium rare", Caesar dressing on the side. It came out well done, (along with the elote "corn ribs", which were pretty dank, admittedly.) I mentioned it to the bartender, and she promptly offered to have it re-made. Cool. Let's do it. 15 minutes later I said to my wife - there's no way it's medium rare if it's taking this long. Lo and behold, another WELL DONE waste of steak, and waste of time. Got it wrapped up to go and decided to call it a night. Got home and realized they gave us blue cheese dressing. Can't catch a win to save my life tonight. These days we seldom go out to eat, and it's a bummer when we can't even get a decently prepared steak on the off chance we do. We were there for a birthday and I ordered a round of drinks for the birthday girl and my tab ended up having food items that our friends/our table did not order. I asked her to fix the bill (it was $30 difference) and she snapped at us, which soured the mood early on. But to her credit, she later apologized for coming off so rude and aggressive. That gesture made a big difference and somewhat turned the night around. I really appreciated that she said sorry and took accountability. Drinks were okay. Food was alright. It would have been better if we were served our food when the it was first ready because by the time it was brought to us, everything was cold. Ambiance was chill. Met up with some friends for Happy Hour at O'Dear Bar in the Parkrose area, and wow--what a great find. I had never been before, but it was a central spot for all of us and the menu looked promising... and it absolutely delivered. The vibe when you walk in is spot on--moody and a little dark, but still well-lit, super clean, and surprisingly spacious. It instantly feels like a place you want to hang out for a while. Service was just as good. Our waiter was attentive, easygoing, and made everything feel relaxed and fun. We ordered the cauliflower, shrimp skewers, fondue, and a basket of fries--every single thing was delicious. But the fries? Next level. Kind of like jojos, but WAY better--crispy, flavorful, and honestly unforgettable. And the Old Fashioned completely stole the show. Easily one of the best I've had. I can't speak for the food but I can speak for the decor and the service. I usually don't leave a bad review if the bartender is a little rude but in this case we didn't make it past the front door. I have never been treated this poorly. The bar is dingy with left over New Year's Eve decorations on the table. I heard the food was good I was excited to try. There was three of us in our party we walked into "Odear bar" the place wasn't busy there were a few people talking to the bartender I didn't see a sign that said wait to be seated so we strolled into and sat at a table the bartender yelled you can't sit there and you need to check in at the bar. I said oh I didn't see that sign she said I have worked at bars for 20 years you always check in at the bar before you sit. Anyway it left me feeling unwelcome and not hungry anymore. Hubby said the same about his. It was good, but not a showstopper and it did not come as ordered. He asked for well done and it came medium. That was a turn off for him. The steak salad-- steak was thick cuts, but not overly flavorful. Just well done cuts. The mac n cheese was good too-- but again.... But we definitely all felt the same way. Would we eat it again? Sure. It isn't a place we would choose again, but if offered we wouldn't decline to go again. The other reviews really gave us high hopes. So maybe it was the night, the chef may have had an off night, I mean it happens to us all. The server was friendly upon arrival. Cocktails were good. Ambience was... a little awkward. It's a bar/pool hall/restaurant and while the decor is nothing fancy at all, the food is.... AMAZING! I had the Smokey Bacon Blue Cheese Burger and it was the best burger I have had in a LONG time! From first bite to last it was absolutely DELICIOUS! And a really good size as well! I upgraded the fries to the sweet potato fries and they were perfect! It came with an aïoli sauce, and they also brought me ranch and ketchup the aïoli was really good and I don't know what kind of ketchup or ranch they use but those were really good as well! Was excited to try O'Dear Bar based on the stellar reviews I've been reading for months so we selected this as our venue for a gathering of friends that had not gotten together in a year. There were 10 of us and even though we put several of the live edge tables together, it was challenging because of the non-uniform shape of the tables. Many of us couldn't even reach the table! But it's about the food. The day we were there, the oven wasn't working so we couldn't get the poppers or the bacon wrapped dates, two of the items we wanted to try. Many in our group opted for the pulled pork sliders and said they were very good. At just $6 each, they were filling, and those that ordered two, took one home. A friend said the fried chicken sandwich was tasty. I went with a bacon jam, blue cheese burger, medium. It arrived ice cold and had been cooked all the way through to well done. No juices to be found. I get that there was a large group and it was lunchtime so probably a reduced staff, but food should arrive hot, not luke warm, and definitely not cold. And if you are a person who orders a burger medium, there is no way you can eat it well done. The fries may have been good, I don't know, they were also cold. Very disappointing. There are lots of appetizers on the happy hour menu at a reduced price. I may come back during happy hour so I can get the poppers, bacon wrapped dates and the wings plus one of the fancy cocktails. Will wait until I'm in this part of town, maybe at Cascade Station, because I won't drive all the way out there just for this as a destination. If I go back, I'll update this review as everyone has an off day. Our waitress was great! She did her best to get us to stop talking so she could get everyone's orders. Rocking a completely black interior with pops of vintage influence, the real star of the show is an impressive black & white mural that fills the entire rear of the dining room. I think I'm a fan! Let me start with the incredible server, Daniel. This guy was running around the bar the entire night, making sure everyone's needs were met. He was like a superhero wearing an apron instead of a cape. I was impressed by his ability to balance a tray of drinks on one hand while using the other to high-five customers. What a guy! But let's get to the real reason we're all here: the food. The pulled pork nachos were simply remarkable. They were so good, in fact, I may have to request them as my last meal if I'm ever on death row. The bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers were sensational, with just the right amount of spice that made my taste buds want to have a dance party... complete with disco lights and confetti! My wife and I had been anxiously awaiting the Grand Opening of O'Dear Bar & Grill ever since we noticed the building being renovated for a new tenant. We were hoping that a fresh, adventurous, upscale bar and restaurant experience would be the first step in the (hopeful) revitalization of the Parkrose neighborhood. We've got more than our fair share of dive bars, and we're looking forward to something a little classier and more modern to move into the area. Thus, on their Grand Opening day, we wasted no time in wandering down the street to check them out, and see what they were all about. Were they everything I'd hoped they'd be? To that, I can wholeheartedly say "O'Dear, yes!" We arrived around 2pm: if we weren't their first customers, we were definitely among the top 5. We were seated immediately, and glanced over the food and drink menus, settling on a couple of cocktails, and two appetizers to split: the bacon-wrapped, goat-cheese stuffed jalapenos, and the charcuterie board, loaded with savory meats and cheeses, nuts, jams and jellies, my favorite of which being the spicy tomato one: I'll take some of that home in a jar, thank you very much! The quality of the ingredients, as well as the skill of the preparation, is top notch, and outshines anything served at competing establishments for miles around. I've stayed at high-class hotels whose kitchens would struggle to produce fare of this pedigree...and this in Parkrose? It feels like dining in an upscale restaurant downtown P-Town. Well, the *old* downtown, before it went to hell in a handcart. Our drinks were similarly both fantastic! At first, I decided to order the topmost cocktail on the menu, my stand-by, the Old Fashioned, but I was talked into trying the Cold Brew Old Fashioned instead, and I doubt I will be ordering anything else in the future. The addition of coffee gives it a pleasant bitter edge that somehow doesn't conflict with the bittersweet potency of the whiskey. It made me an instant fan! My wife ordered a drink called Hemingway's Keys, which tasted exactly as you would expected: Key Lime in a glass. She ended up ordering another, she enjoyed it so much, leaving me to order the Harley Quinn, another drink she'd been eyeballing on the menu, so that she could sample it, and let me finish it off. The best way to describe it would be: GLITTER! Service was friendly, attentive and efficient. I didn't catch our server's name, sadly, and although she was relatively green, she didn't miss a step anywhere throughout the experience. She was pleasant and punctual during our entire experience. We were also visited at least once by the chef de cuisine, as well as (one of the) owners, Jared, who conversed with us on some of the inspirations behind the menu items (each has their own unique twist on an existing entrée), cocktails, expectations for the bar, the neighborhood, and future events. Jared was obviously passionate and dedicated into transforming his childhood stomping grounds into something more than it has become over the past few decades, and hopes that this venture will be the first of many improvements to a part of the city in sore need of care and attention. From what we've seen so far, they're off to a resounding start! After our experience today, I can claim with confidence that Parkrose officially has a worthy bar, restaurant and night life *destination*; a place that one chooses to patronize based on its merits, instead of location or convenience. O'Dear's is the first star on the map of a slowly gentrifying corner of the city (and I use that term in its most positive connotation). O'Dear's is open from noon to 1am daily, and is family friendly up until 8pm every day. After that, drop the little ones off back at home, and get ready to party. Live music will be a weekend feature in the coming weeks, and I'm sure other events will find their way here as well. Looking forward to seeing that O'Dear's has in store! read more

Having never been here before, this is where I decided I wanted to have my birthday dinner yesterday. My husband made a 6:30 reservation for us, though it was pretty empty when we came in, so I don't imagine it was actually necessary. There's quite a lot of seating and there were maybe 2 or 3 other groups at the time. I started with a cold brew old fashioned, which was tasty, but far sweeter than I imagined for an old fashioned. I still enjoyed every sip. I ordered the vegan nachos, but asked for dairy cheese (as I am pescatarian, not vegan) and our server (Grace) happily obliged. The flavor of the toppings was good and I thoroughly enjoyed the nachos. My only complaint is that the toppings and cheese didn't seem to be layered at all between the chips to have fewer plain chips on the plate. I tried my husband's Sidecar, which was made really well! The first couple sips were really sweet, but it balanced out as you kept going. Overall, this is a nice place and I enjoyed our experience. I was on a date with my girlfriend and she was very condescending to her and rude. Honestly the rudest and weirdest service I've ever had in my life, as a bartender. If I could do 0 stars I would. On 7/9/25 approximately 10:30pm this incident occurred. My friends and I always come to this bar, it is our go too after work. I cannot express how bad the service was from the bartender Nicole Ball. She was so incredibly rude to all the people in our party. Telling one person they did NOT have a drink menu to choose from??? Alright .... Including snatching the clipboard receipt board from one of the persons in our party. We had about 20 people in our party for 2 birthday celebrations. Besides the disrespectful treatment, there was a fly in my drink she had just given me. I waited patiently to ask her politely if she could make me another, she rudely said there were flys outside the bar (as if that wasn't obvious). I stated "I understand but you JUST gave this to me, I did not leave the bar" I assumed she made this comment because she saw me go to the patio earlier. she told me she'd make another but that would be the only time. I understood and thanked her. She kicked out 2 people in our party due to having "attitude" asking about who's ID is who's. Nicole also claimed 1 person called her a "c**t" which was not true. The person stated she was rude and we were all leaving. Nicole then came outside and told all of us we have to leave. Already on the way out, we agreed. We then left the bar and went to another near by, ended up seeing a familiar face from O'Dear we did not know agreeing Nicole the bartender, was rude to them as well! Stating as to why they were at the new bar too. To top off this incredibly long review (I apologize) Nicole herself told one of the people that came later to the party (without knowing we left 10 min ago) told them she was just called a c**t. LOL. My husband and I were staying at a hotel close to the airport for one night. Wanted to find something close by. Wasn't quite sure of the place when we first got there. However, the waitress/bartender assured us that the food was good. We both ordered the burgers, and they were cooked perfectly. The bacon jam as an accompaniment was absolutely delicious. Went on a very slow night. Service was terrible. Menu says wine choices are red, white, bubbly. That's it. So we asked what the brands were. Server knew one was cooks. Didn't know the other two kinds. My friend went to the bar to ask. White was 19 crimes but bartender had no idea what red was. Eventually the server came back and plopped a bottle of red on the table. It was Oregon wine so we said that's great- how much? He said he didn't know. Took awhile to come back and tell us. You'd never know this place used to be a complete run down dark and dank dive bar (which isn't always a bad thing). It is now modern, open, inviting and comfortable.
