Had a wonderful family lunch here today! We had a group of 9. I made reservations over the phone, and received an email confirmation. The gentleman taking my reservation was friendly, helpful and informative. He let me know ahead of time that they automatically charge a 20% tip for large parties, which is pretty normal. It was nice that he mentioned it at the time of reservation though. Our table was ready as everyone was arriving. I appreciated that they seated people at our group table as they arrived and didn't make them wait in the lobby until our entire party was present. So considerate. Super cool vibes inside! Love all the colorful globes hanging from the ceiling. The water vapor display in the bar was really cool too! Nice and comfortable seating. The restrooms were nice too! The floor to ceiling doors on the bathroom stalls were great! I appreciate the extra privacy. Our table ordered quite the variety of food and drinks and everyone enjoyed everything, no complaints. The Bait Shop Mule cocktail was a favorite with a wide range of flavor options. My husband liked the blood orange. As for lunch entrees we ordered burgers, sandwiches, salads, and pasta. I had the Salmon BLT. It was delicious! The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the dill cream cheese paired extremely well. My husband ordered the Rocks & Lox pasta dish. He absolutely loved it. He said it had great flavor and was plentiful. For dessert, I ordered the Almond Roca. OMG, it was soooooo good! The salted caramel and almond roca pairing was perfection! Stopped in tonight for another fantastic dinner. The food was on point as always! I had the Pork Chop as well as my wife. She ordered the same. Both perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Our friends ordered the pizza and the Tuscany chicken. They were both very pleased with what they got. They said it was fantastic. The service tonight, however, was not as good as we normally experience. We were very much ignored tonight. No drink refills, they took our water jug to fill and never came back. I asked for more water and a glass of ice and they came back with more water and a glass of ice, which was nice. However, one of the servers came by the table and asked if she could clear some things and we said sure and the only thing she took at that time was my ice water. We pretty much ignored the whole night. I was very disappointed as the service that I normally get is top-notch. I can't take away anything from the food because it was perfect. It was hubby's idea to take me here for lunch today, after Easter, since I've been sick with hip and thigh pains, basically limping, and I was missing Holy Week. I thought, OK, I needed to get out of the house, it's nice & sunny, why not! I've not heard of Jawfish. But, as we walked in, I was already impressed. We were seated by the window, my choice. (I needed to look out). Our waiter was friendly and charming. And answered my question. I ordered the two piece (I got a bonus) Steelhead Fish & Chips with Sweet Potato Fries. You don't see Steelhead Fish & Chips everyday. It was my first! The cole slaw, I'm trying to figure out what was added to it. Hubby ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich with Fries and the Jawfish Clam Chowder. Everything we ordered was slightly different than the usual. The sandwich had some unusual ingredients. The potato in the chowder was sliced, and there were too many of them, which I didn't care! The restaurant had only been there for 4 months. The decor was modern and interesting. The bathroom, I like the fact, they have a section to lay your phone down, or purse. Spotless! All in all, we had a great experience. We enjoyed an evening with La Petite Chef at the Jawfish. It was an amazing experience and was quite cute. Overall this is a more expense experience but we felt it was worth it. Door opened on time and for us we were early so we enjoyed a drink at the bar which was very nice. The atmosphere in the room we were in was very cute and classy. We were only a party of two so we had to sit with another party of two. They were wonderful! The host/waitress were amazing and great in character. The food was delicious and to be honest it was a lot for a 5 course meal. There was no leaving hungry. The smore old fashion was to die for! YUM. The part of this that is very cool is the animated experience of La Petite Chef making your food in front of you. The animated video was darling and not super long. Overall, the food was really great! I truly have no complaints about the meal itself. I ordered the bone-in ribeye cooked medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection. I'm usually pretty picky about mashed potatoes since they can often be dry, but these were rich, creamy, and delicious, with extra butter added, you can tell. I also ordered the house side salad (pictured is half since my husband and I split it). For the middle of February, it was surprisingly fresh the greens were crisp , and the crunchy green beans were a really nice touch. The cocktails and atmosphere were equally impressive. They were able to make me an amaretto sour m which isn't always easy to find and it was fantastic. The service was wonderful as well, with very attentive staff throughout the evening. My only hesitation is the pricing. It may be due to the restaurant's proximity to the airport and catering to travelers, but while the steak was excellent, I'm not sure it justified the $75 price tag. Even splitting it between two people, that felt steep. I would absolutely return for the convenience and ambiance and a quick meal, but I might explore other menu options next time, as you can likely find a comparable steak for less at other places in Portland. read more

Gorgeous interior (even the bathroom was pretty)! Fabulous server - we LOVED her! Food was good. We shared the fried green beans & asparagus & both had the Korean teriyaki steak bites with a side of rice. Yummy! I did tell our server (somewhat jokingly) that the little skillets the bites were served in were unnecessarily far too hot. She (being Korean herself) explained that this is what makes them Korean-style, but I would argue this isn't a Korean restaurant & made the food too hot to enjoy for a very long time. Not shown in the photos they also have seating along the windows and it felt so good to grab an early dinner, basking in the sun. This restaurant is attached to a hotel. I didn't stay at the hotel but what made it super easy was the restaurant was easily accessible from the street. Some hotel restaurants have a particular vibe I can't put my finger on. Okay lemme lay the deets. Jawfish is a newish restaurant on airport way. I believe it was opened by the former either owner or chef of beache (which has closed). Their menu has pizzas, pasta, small dishes, beef and chicken and seafood. I do wish there was more seafood plate options. There's a cioppino and fish and chips but I was hoping for more options. I ordered the Mac and cheese with blackened chicken and also sun dried tomatoes. It was a great portion! Sauce was pretty good but nothing super insane. I liked the bread crumbs. I dined with a large party (we made a reservation ahead of time). My aunt in front of me got the ribs and I was surprised that it didn't come with a wet towelette pack. That should be pretty standard when eating ribs to not get the linens drenched in bbq sauce. I also tried the cioppino. It was rich and a little spicy and cinnamon-y. It comes with two pretty skinny pieces of garlic bread. It should definitely include more bread to eat this dish. Overall it was a pretty good experience but I think a few improvements would make this a very competitive restaurant. read more

This was our first time in to Jawfish. The atmosphere is very nice. Upscale trendy vibe with fun accents like the green vapor "firepit" thing. I got the salmon and my husband got the ribs. The salmon was very nicely done and laid on top of mashed potatoes with grilled veggies. The veggies were too charred for my taste but my son would have loved them. The ribs were also great and accompanied with coleslaw that my non-coleslaw loving husband said was excellent! The au gratin potatoes were also very tasty. We will be back! read more

We had such a nice experience here from start to finish! I wish people were more careful with their low ratings for a BRAND NEW restaurant. We were greeted by waitstaff, not a host, and they realized there wasn't a clean booth so they asked us to wait for them to clean it. That was fine! We were seated, had menus, and the bus-staff greeted us and brought water. Our sever then made it over and apologized for the wait - but honestly it wasn't bad! We loved all our dishes - the hummus was a standout and our server brought us extra flatbread bc there was enough hummus left over! My Thai noodle salad was delish (rolling my eyes at the person who left the review complaining about the number of noodles in the salad compared to the lettuce... It's called a Thai NOODLE salad.) Hubby's fish and chips were delicious, and the kiddos mac & cheese was stellar. One note... She got it with bacon, and I think it may have been served with candied bacon rather than regular savory bacon. If that was a mistake, we are the right people to make that mistake with because we love sweet things, but if that's not your jam, it might not have been so great for you. If I had a choice, I would always go for candy bacon. I'm not a monster. Our server Taryn could not have been kinder. She seemed genuinely interested in making sure that we had a good visit and was authentically nice and super competent. I really love what they've done with this place in terms of the decor and the ambience. It's welcoming and artistic without being overstated. Stopped in for a quick lunch while I was in town. I sat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and very engaging. I asked for her suggestion of protein for the Asian salad and she suggested the salmon. The fish was cooked perfectly, not overdone or dry. That said, since it's the same cooks (or so I've heard) from Beaches Restaurant, the menu feels very similar and a lot of the flavors taste the same. I dined here twice this week while staying at a hotel across the street. The first visit was for lunch and I tried the Steelhead Fish and Chips and it was amazing, I had never had Steelhead fried and it was so delicious, I highly recommend it. Second trip was for dinner and I had skipped lunch so I was hungry, I ordered the Seafood Cioppino and it was excellent, not the typical dish I get when ordering it at an Italian restaurant because there wasn't any pasta but the toasted bread works great for soaking up the flavorful broth. The dish was loaded with clams, mussels, shrimp and a spicy sausage that all worked well together. It was very filling but I had to try a dessert and ordered the Almond Roca, salted Carmel ice cream, with a delicate almond brittle and chocolate sauce. I told myself I wasn't going to eat the whole thing when they sat it in front of me but I couldn't resist once I got the first few bites. Service was adequate but not friendly -- no warmth, no effort to elevate the visit. If the service had been great it might have balanced things out, but it didn't. We needed a restaurant near PDX, and found Jawfish online. I liked the menu so we booked a reservation. We are so glad we did! The service was exceptional and so was the food. I was unsure which wine I wanted and the waitress quickly offered a tasting of the ones I was considering. I chose a nice dry Cabernet and bought a bottle for the table. The first dish we tried was the Clam and Muscles. The white wine, tomato chutney broth was so good I wanted to drink it. That dish alone would cause us to drive the hour to eat there again. My husband ordered the blackened Ahi and it was prepared exactly as he requested (very rare) he was very happy with it. Our grandson, who we were at PDX to see off, ordered the Rocks & Lox seafood pasta. It also was very good. We all tasted it and I will order it next time I go. Our table was visited at least three times by what I can only assume were the manager and the owner just to make sure we were happy and enjoying our experience. I told them we were there to take our grandson to dinner before he joined the navy in the morning. and they insisted on bringing him a complimentary desert. Hands down the most tender, moist pork chop I have ever had. The cioppino was good. Our server was awesome letting us know her recommendations. We were there at late lunch time but she was able to ask the kitchen if they could serve these from the dinner menu and they did! We were checked on several times by wait staff during our visit. My friend and I stopped for lunch on Friday, a first visit for both of us. It took a couple of minutes for someone to greet us in the lobby as we waited to be seated, but she was pleasant and welcoming once she did. The decor was unique, and they've done a beautiful job renovating the space. Decor features were spaced throughout the restaurant, both eye-catching and breaking up the large space. The restrooms were clean and spacious, with design details carried throughout. Dani was our server; she was both friendly and attentive, greeting us promptly, asking for our drink order, and whether we had any questions. We both ended up ordering the Cuban sandwich, which was served on their house loaf. The ingredients were plentiful, the bread was soft, and complimented them beautifully. (The mustard does have a dominant flavor, so depending on taste, you may ask for it on the side so that you can add as little or as much as you like.) Our beverages were refilled without running out or having to ask; we asked for to-go boxes for the rest of our sandwiches (again, quite plentiful), and she split our checks upon request. We will definitely be looking to visit again. The close proximity to the freeway, just over the Glen Jackson (I-205) bridge on Airport Way, makes this a great option for those of us on the Washington side. read more

The Cornbread lacked corn and was dry 0/10. The mashed potatoes were good nothing special 6/10. The porkchop was burnt on the outside and pink on the inside 4/10. The Ribeye was ok, but not for $75 6/10. The Proscuitto & Fig Pizza was a joke it has Proscuitto was only on the first bit maybe in the second bite and covered with way too much arugula, the first bite was good after you take the heaping salad off the pizza, afyer that you basically have a cheese pizza 4/10. My GF and I went for my birthday in hopes it was gonna be a good restaurant because it had some of the beaches staff and the old owners had a hand in opening the restaurant. We had a group dinner on Sunday Feb 1st. The teriyaki steak bites and mushrooms were in drowned in soupy sauce , the sesame pork was crispy and tasty, the grilled/chilled shrimp was good too. I had salmon for dinner and omg I had to peel the top layer of it off due to the amount of salt on it. The veggies it came with were beyond salty as well. I peeled the top layer and ate around it so I didn't complain. Two people ordered the sirloin steak and they came out in very different cuts. Cook temperature was perfect on both but one was just plain cold. Like sitting at room temp for over 30 mins cold and rice was crunchy. The manager was great and offered alternatives and took it off the bill. We had a bottle of Chardonnay which just sat on the table without an ice bucket. So was so happy to see this beautiful new restaurant open up! My husband and I always do a local night away for my Xmas bday so decided to try this, We arrived and thought wow they transformed the old restaurant so amazing! Then we order... We order Korean pork and cornbread appetizers And the waitress brought out our food! Couldn't remember we ordered apps.. I mean it was 15 min earlier.. Then they brought put cornbread as cancelled the pork but wanted the corn bread... well??? You couldn't even cut it as just broke into pcs.. Then they reheat our dinners and the ribs were not cooked right! I had to literally use mi fingers to rip a rib apart and the rest was fat. We complained again after not bringing apps and manager offered to take off the cornbread and ribs.. Then you would think they have a clue? Nope got worse., Then we had to glad down manager to get the bill.. I went to car to wait for my husband to deal with.. 10 min later he had to look fit manager as she couldn't remember to bring credit card back to leave! So they ruined mi bday dinner and only had maybe 4-5 tables It was a real crap show! The couple behind us had to go to bat as no one helped them to just put order on. Oh! We were visiting Portland and went to Jawfish because it was across the street from the hotel. It doesn't look like much from the outside and because of the name, I assumed it was a seafood restaurant. As a vegetarian, I wasn't expecting there would be much for me to eat. What a wonderful surprise! Inside is a nice light and well decorated modern atmosphere. And there were two obvious vegetarian plates. I had the quinoa bowl. It was absolutely scrumptious.
