Beautiful dining area, very attractive, organized, and every square inch as clean as could be. We were greeted very warmly when we arrived and had reservations for brunch so we were shown to a table that had been prepared for us, a booth. It was very difficult to make food choices because everything looked amazing. Our server helped us make some great choices which included biscuits and gravy, masa pancakes, and Chilaquiles. Our group shared our meals, so we all got to try three different things, and I was partial to the MASA pancakes, and especially adored the delectable lemon sauce that was generously covering the top of the large order of pancakes. The biscuits have bell pepper in them, but very small amounts, and I found them to be a more cake like biscuit, and very tasty. Everything was especially good, including their drinks. I had the Stumptown coffee, which was delightful, and one of the diners in our group had a cocktail and a beer and said both were wonderful. Came here for brunch on Saturday during Wing Week. Sadly we were told that the wings weren't going to be an option till noon, and we came in thirty minutes after they opened as their first customers in the day. Oh well, more brunch it is! The place has a very nice vibe to it, while there is a bar in the back, the kids had a nice time looking at how nice the ambience was and people walking dogs in the neighborhood. We ordered a variety of brunch items, and while the food as very well done for the most part, it did take a little while to come out despite being their only customers ( at the time ). They also overcooked all of our poached eggs, but they did offer to remake all of them! But then they accidentally were going to charge us for the remakes, but then they realized their error and took off the eggs again. Their Duck and Waffles was very unique, and the fruitier Masa Pancakes were an interesting experience. My kids loved their biscuits and gravy, and that gravy was very rich! Overall we were looking forward to wings, an easy brunch, and a quick exit to start our day. Forming connections & building community is part of the reason I visit places. This is not a "plug for me", as much as it is an "unplug for a local business". This is a critique, of Northport, not for their elevated cuisine or craft cocktails, & friendly staff, but rather a poor singular judgement call on behalf of manager Daniel. Northport replaced the closure of Swift & Union restaurant, that experienced financial hardships in a pandemic. Restaurants are all about "math". Push a local away, you lose future bankable dollars spent, which in my case = lots of hard earned $. Facts; I usually came in alone, sat at their counter, plugged in my AirPods & watched design shows, or researched new music for my upcoming shows. On 3 separate occasions I brought friends with me. I admired the decor of Northport, because of having 30+ years experience in the design field. Upon my first visit, I met Gabriel, who was a server, also studying architecture, which resonated with me. After a few more visits he gave me his number & friended me on IG. I also met Nikayla another server I can't say enough good things about! After talking with me, she brought me a crystal rock on my next visit to Northport.she believed stimulates creativity, I placed her gift on my fireplace mantel. . Finally in addition to meeting a talented elixir crafter Caitlin, I met an older gentleman employed there as a bartender who invited me to come down and see Lorna B. perform. . I accepted his invitation, he was off shift & I sat with him at the counter. It was nice to see Northport bringing in live music entertainment, became a new reason to come back. When Lorna took a break, I complimented her vocals & song selections that evening. I showed Lorna two photos of relevant connections on my phone, from my associations with similar jazz & blues performers, including Mel B. (Rialto's Jack London) & Donna K.)Portland's waterfront blues festival. A couple days later, I came back from celebrating Seattle Pride wearing a Pride T-shirt I, stopped by Northport....at the podium entrance I was greeted by server Nikayla. She was telling me about going hiking to Silver Falls, while having this exchange, their manager Daniel approached & informed me that "I was effectively no longer "welcome into Northport." Daniel's explanation was that the performer Lorna may have felt uneasy? Many performers get approached either for patrons that make a song request, or adding tips to their tip jar, or any relatable exchange. Many collaborations happen when stories are shared amongst fellow artists. I was taken a back, to say the least. How is this offensive? Would it be perceived differently, if I was a woman of color, chatting with her as one musician to another? Doubtful, which lends itself that this is reverse discrimination, as I am a gay woman in PDX. Many neighborhoods in Portland have seen gentrification, particularly in N & NE Portland. I cannot control how others perceive me, as I merely mentioned my connections to similar musicians such as Mel B., & Donna K., both whom I know that do jazz and blues music in Portland . my attempts to create viable connections, share my love of music in our community as mutual contributors, is all this was. In this city, when you are treated in this manner by a manager, to be made to feel you are unwelcome, be careful, because one never knows the people they know. For a relatively new Kenton business that claims to be all about hospitality, it saddens me, that one singular person, Daniel A., would treat a long time member of the Kenton community with utter contempt. Disdain? Add insult to injury Daniel claims that other staff members may have felt uneasy. Really? Like the one who gave me his phone number, or another one giving me a crystal & discussing hiking plans, or the other one who invites me back, danced with me & bought my cocktail during Lorna's performance? These facts do not add up, I was shamed & treated with a knee jerk reaction, even after I suggested we revisit this after some time has passed to be met with a harsh NO, in front of their staff member happily conversing with me right in front of him. I was mistreated & belong to 3 protected classes under Federal & State of Oregon laws. This is a prime example of how owners, (Davide & Tamara ) hire someone like Daniel & treat local talented residents poorly, that inevitably will spend their dollars elsewhere. Bottom line. Advocate for equality, & inclusion. This business will attempt to justify poor actions. Daniel is homophobic, and look to see how many people of color work here? Follow up: There are several local North Portland business owners & managers that welcome me. Let me know publicly, what North Portland business you speak of Daniel? Because when you attempt to smear a local resident, fact check yourself, & back it up. Because I am welcomed into most North Portland businesses, except yours. read more

I've been here several times and found it to be good. Very friendly service staff. Their food generally is well prepared and presented but I wouldn't say especially memorable. The grilled trout with zarandeado marinade is memorable ... wonderful flavor! The burgers are good, but not necessarily a knock out that stands above other places. I tried their salmon fish and chips. It's the PNW so salmon makes good sense, and I love salmon, but I discovered that the flavor profile of salmon isn't quite right for a battered and fried fish dish like white fish are. I've had only one truly disappointing experience. I had a light appetite so I ordered their Beet and Citrus salad. I declined any protein to be added. For $18 I received a large platter with the salad literally taking up ONE HALF side of the platter as if something else was supposed to be served beside it. The chef could've easily proportionalized the size of the salad and balanced it on the plate so it looked like a complete meal. Love love lovely all around, from the casual, woody but not divey vibe, to our crab cake starters (real crab!) to the Fish n Chips and Steak Bites. The salmon in my fish chips was perfect, a nice twist on an old favorite and frankly a more flavorful one to boot. I upgraded to truffle fries, and once again, they were a hit; nicely crisped and with that distinctive truffle flavor. We had a tough time deciding what to order, TBH, the Latin-inspired menu looked interesting and diverse all around, and the cocktail list creative as well. Reasonable wine options too, reasonably priced. To top it all off, our server was totally charming, patient, and very very informative. But. One star off, as we just sat there for close to 20 minutes initially -- in a near empty restaurant-- before we could flag someone down to take our order. First new restaurant try of 2026! I was looking for a spot for belated celebrations to kick off the new year - specifically somewhere that had a broader menu, allowed kids, and looked yummy. This spot popped up and the menu intrigued me - I was not disappointed. The food here was very good - I throughly enjoyed the beet salad, my husbands arroz con pato was heavenly, and all the desserts were incredible. It did take a bit to get our food - so if you're looking for a faster paced restaurant I'd keep that in mind. We didn't mind too much since we were out celebrating with friends. Our server was so friendly, gave thoughtful recommendations based on what we asked, and was attentive. This is a nice, lively spot with a good menu for groups. Arrived very late in the afternoon by #4 bus. Had eaten here before when it went by a different name. Anyway the food was average, nothing to write home about. Val had chicken wraps and they were ok, the fries on the other hand were above average. I had a Kenton burger and fries, the burger wasn't as tasty as advertised, but the fries were some of the best tasting ever. Val had a small glass of wine which was $10, for the size of the pour I felt was a little steep. (House pino Grigio ), one can buy a bottle for $4.50. At most markets. This review is for Tuesday late night happy hour. The service was excellent and the happy hour menu has several good food and drink options. However I was with two others in my party and they went with regular food. The fish and chips looked amazing and they use salmon and the chips were seasoned. The other dish was a risotto and it looked great. I got the Mac and cheese because I wasn't that hungry. It was delicious as well. I also ordered a beer and it was cold and delicious. Atmosphere is one of my favorite restaurant vibes for casual, great dining: it exudes warmth and charm. The space is designed with minimalistic decor, emphasizing comfort and a welcoming atmosphere. The interior features large windows facing south and east, allowing natural light to flood the room during the day. The walls are painted dark blue and grey, creating a serene backdrop that complements the simple yet elegant furnishings. Wooden tables and chairs are strategically placed to provide ample space for diners, adding a touch of coziness without overwhelming the minimalist aesthetic. The overall vibe is one of understated elegance, where the focus is on providing a comfortable and inviting environment for guests to enjoy their meals. Good food, good service, the worst cocktail of my life. We started with a couple of decent cocktails- a house manhattan and a Portlandia. Then Buratta salad, which was big (enough for two to share) and delicious. Then came the truffle parm fries, which were deliciously hot and crispy. Then we ordered our mains - the Steak Au Poivre & Pescado al Pastor both were delicious - nice combination of flavors, but each were a bit over cooked. I ordered medium rare and got medium, but it was still very tender and full of flavor. The gravy is not needed for the steak, as the rest of the dish has plenty of flavor. However, it was my dinner cocktail that ended up ruining the experience. I ordered the "Red Skies" and it honestly tasted like I was drinking chemicals. I took a sip and wondered if they had accidentally added cleaning solution or some sort of automotive chemical. I told the server and asked him to smell it, thinking he might remedy it. But he just told me it was the egg whites in it. I'm not sure how egg whites could make something taste chemically. It was an unfortunate way to end an otherwise good meal. I didn't end up drinking it, which is disappointing and frustrating when you shell out $16 for a drink. Otherwise, this place would be a solid 4+. read more

I live in Kenton and walk every morning. I notice that Northport doesn't clean up their surrounding area or unclog the street drain on a regular basis. I have also noticed that they throw their dirty dish water out onto the Denver sidewalk. This makes me so very sad. Kenton is a neighborhood that looks out for each other and cleans up after each other. Please be a better neighbor! If we all do our part we will have a clean rat free community that EVERYONE can enjoy. When Northport first opened we were so excited when we read that the owners really tried to be part of their community-so far this has just been lip service with no actions. PLEASE be an active part of the Kenton neighborhood. Thank you. read more

Really the best spot in Kenton. It's quiet enough to hear dinner conversations. Their Creative menu and delicious steaks are top rate. Their mole is wonderful and we had a marvelous black cod dish that was unlike any other black cod prep I've had. Complex dance of flavors. This place is woefully understaffed. I waited almost 10 minutes at the front (sign at the front indicated to wait to be seated). They only had one person at the bar, several dirty tables, several large parties. I asked the person at the bar if I could sit anywhere and was asked to wait by the door and he'd be with me asap. So I waited- he fulfilled a drink order for a large party - in the meantime, 3 other parties had come in behind me. The staffer came over and advised us there would be a 45 minute wait for food orders. They have two large tables And all other tables are either table or 2 or table of 4. They serve alcohol too. Very open sittings facing windows of N Denver St. My friend ordered an old fashioned drink and the Chilaquiles Verdes and I ordered a Tres Leches French Toast. Food was prepared to order. The food came out piping hot. I cut into my French toast and the syrup was dripping all over the middle. Strawberry jam on the side where I can dip the French toast in it. It was delicious. Sweet and fulfilling. My friend's Chilaquiles Verdes look like a Nacho Open Burrito. Came with black beans on the bottom, nachos, cheese, chorizo sausage pieces and eggs on top. It was devoured quickly. This is a place for a brunch and to relax. Lots of good selection of foods to choose from. We both ate our food before our next stop in the neighborhood. read more
