    Dirty martini and wine
    Maddie J.

Such a cool place!! Great views, great service, great food!!! We went for my sister's 30th and had a larger party of people and the service was fantastic! I ordered a dozen oysters, a dirty martini, vodka soda, French fries, and a cheeseburger. Total before tip was about $75! Reviews from the rest of the party- loved the vibes, loved the food, indoor and outdoor seating options were nice. On a pretty day the patio would be stunning!!! Very clean facility and "the oysters taste like they came fresh from the ocean" Highly recommend trying this place out! They also have the cutest merch :-) We will 100% be coming back

Wonderful lunch spot. They also serve cocktails, so I'm devising a plan to return for happy hour, sit by a fire pit and enjoy an old fashioned. Aside from the food, the service was wonderful and the ambiance was calming and conducive to a long conversation with a dear friend. The views of the small bay and Columbia are outstanding. I'll be back!

You could really taste how fresh the ingredients were in every dish that we had. My friend and I came for Portland dining month so what we tried (other than the house bread and butter which was delish) may not be on the permanent menu. Service was great and the view was gorgeous.

We went here for a bite to eat today. It is a cute place with friendly service. I felt it was a bit spendy for an Al a carte menu. The bay shrimp sandwich, a lemonade, and an order of fries with tip was close to $30. The food is good. You have to order at the counter and they bring the food to you. It's all about the location which is wonderful. Being by water is always calming. They have a partial covered patio and a huge outdoor area when the weather permits.

Pal's is already a standout. It's a modern, fun spot that gets everything right, especially the customer experience. First and foremost, the staff here is so rad. Every single person we encountered at the counter was upbeat, friendly, and genuinely fast. They make the whole service experience personal and welcoming. I liked their merch and swag. It's fun to rep this great, new spot that looks this good. Oh and the food is delicious! I would highly recommend stopping by for the speedy service, excellent food, and the chance to grab some awesome Pals swag!

We made it to the grand opening at 5:30pm and it was delightful! We've never been to this area of town and now we have a reason to come back. Order at the counter and you'll get a text when your order is ready. Gratuity is already included on menu prices. There are so many seating options. Inside is cute, front patio is lively, and back deck is where we decided to dine. They have pebble ice. That gets extra points from our kids. It's generally family friendly but also a nice spot to grab drinks with your friends. Loved my cocktail and wine when I switched. Fresh beer and a variety of soft drinks. The food was fantastic! My fish & chips sandwich was massive. Partner got the tuna salad and it was really special. The ingredients taste high quality and fresh. Don't forget the sides! Pasta salad and those curly fries are definitely worth getting. The kids ate all their food?! That's a special occasion right there. Every single person that works there is friendly and those uniforms are adorable. So fun, we'll be back!

Bay shrimp roll, teriyaki fish bowl, potato salad, curly fries

This is a great spot to grab food or a drink and hang out by the marina! The outdoor space is huge with lots of kid-friendly areas. When we went there was a long line. You can order food at the counter from one line and drinks/ice cream from another line. We probably waited about 20-30 minutes to order and another 30 minutes to receive our food. I thought this long wait might be a problem with little kids, but the outdoor space kept them occupied. In addition to a play area made of logs, the space also has a lawn with corn hole and a lounge area with fire pits. The place is tastefully designed and is new so everything is in great shape right now. The food itself was very tasty. The menu feels like elevated fish shack snack bar food. The teriyaki fish bowl, for example, had a complex slaw underneath trout with perfectly crispy skin. Even the things like the potato salad were better than I expected. The portions are somewhat small compared to the prices. I think things like the fish bowl were small for an entree and would recommend ordering sides (or another entree/sandwich). The cold sesame noodles felt more substantial in size. The staff are very friendly here, and the place has great vibes. I wonder if the kitchen will be faster in the future or if the complexity of the dishes limits its speed. If you are willing to wait and have realistic expectations around portion size, I would highly recommend this spot.

Let me start this by saying I am not one to leave reviews. Much less a bad one. I bought a cosmopolitan for $13 and I'll post below what I received below.. we ordered fries and waited 30 minutes for them to only find them sitting on the counter cold... last time we came the were delivered to us. Atmosphere is great but service and prices are just enough to keep us away now. We did tip well & wish we hadn't.

    Seafood tower!

Okay I am not an oyster person but I've been dreaming about the little wildcats from Hamma Hamma with the super fresh sauces from her. PAL's is more than a little seafood lunch spot, please try the dinner. We had the fish schnitzel with slaw, the seafood tower and more. Everything was so good. And the servers were so patient and nice with our unruly group. I will be back!

This meal was 5/5 Highly recommend, a bit out here but worth the view. Ambience is very open and a lot of natural light. Perfect Quiet brunch spot. Service was great. Thank you!

Seeing this little Victorian Belle of a gem online really got us excited. I passed some run-down neighborhoods to get there. And the property itself isn't as large as I envisioned in my mind. Parking is minimal and most people just parallel where they can along the side. But the house itself is absolutely stunning. There is so much detail in the stained glass on every single door. Even the dust corners on the stairs are uniquely ornate. All three levels are completely decorated. And festive Christmas fixings are adorned everywhere you look. The house is so well managed, and it is so lovely to be able to actively enjoy a piece of history. The hostess was very flexible about changing our seats when we were too close to our other patrons. Personally, we were in the Winnie Holgate Room, which has creamy beige walls and blue accenting. It overlooks the courtyard and has very pleasant views. Foodwise, we got to trial some mushroom soup. It was so rich and tasty. It was concentrated, full bodied unami with a hint of herbs. Everything else was presented on a tiered serving stand. The cucumber cream cheese and salmon sandwiches were pretty basic. The smokiness of the salmon was muted. The caprese skewer had a nice tangy bite to it with just enough basil to give it some fragrance. Out of all the pastries, the peach scone was the best. There was just enough of the fruit pieces to give it some texture without overwhelming it. The accompanying jam and mascarpone were spot on. The cherry and chocolate scone was a little drier. And the fruit chunks were very large in ratio to the chocolate. It was not a complimentary combination. In regard to the tea, Smiths is always great quality. They have good full bodied flavors with low astringency. Overall, the food and tea were pretty decent. And this was indeed a unique experience in a historic location that not only serves high tea but also caters other events. I would much like to come back in the spring or summer when the fountains are functioning and everything is in full bloom.

As I enter, the first thing I see are three questions in red: What was the price our ancestors paid to call this nation home? What did they sacrifice for the American dream? What was promised to them for their blood, sweat, and tears? As I abstracted my time with DeepTime Collective's wall of many clocks, I walked along various artworks that caught my eye. Gabby Severson, Jaleesa Johnston, and Ebony Frison were a few of my favorite artists from this show. The artworks are powerful and imposing. They catch you and keep you in. The artists speak from places of nostalgia, memory and lived experience. However, I couldn't help to think that the works respond to questions that have already been in conversation for a while. 250 years, who doesn't know what the price is? And so, as Bayo Akomolafe has asked about the Black Lives Matter movement, to whom would this matter to? This certainly is nothing new for marginalized folks who live with those questions everyday, whose ancestral histories on this stolen land is defined by sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears. From struggle to preservation to perseverance, the artworks are analyzed by folks who beg for answers to questions they created.

Reading the Biennial through Lorde, hooks and Akomolafe, I found myself questioning if representation alone is enough, who carries the burden of explanation and what it means to be visible. While most of the work pinpointed popular progressive words, critiques, and symbols it felt like just a critique. Some works felt like acts recovery while others pushed the boundary of visibility. I left with more questions than answers in a good way. The Center of Injustice stuck out the most to me, not only the size and familiarity of design but the archival history of police violence and the ongoing conversation around it was provoking. Some of the work felt crowded together but overall the work succeeded in prompting reflection.

For lunch, we had the meat lover's pizza (real pieces of bacon) and ceasars salad (with an actual anchovy) - both delicious. At breakfast, we got the benedict and spinach mushroom omelet that came with incredible potatoes (trying to figure out how to replicate these!) Also got a side of bacon, which was melt-in-the-mouth good. Super tasty. We only had breakfast and lunch, but we were very happy and would come back in a heartbeat. Every server was incredibly friendly and solicitous, checking in on us with Goldilocks frequency (i.e., just right). Prices were also reasonable and, if this isn't enough for you, how would you like a view of the river while you dine?!? There is a lovely patio but you don't have to sit outside to enjoy the view.
