    Pizza Week
    Kareem A.

Can't speak to the full dining experience here, but we got the pizza week pizza and it was really good. It wasn't too crowded and with a group of 6, we got a great table and they let us hang out there for a while. I really appreciate not being rushed out, the drinks were good, and the pizza was awesome.

This is a nice little spot kinda in the "rose" area but really closer to OMSI. There is street parking. The bathroom is out the back side of the restaurant but is clean and still enclosed -- ie you aren't going outside just outside the restaurant. The entrance has stairs and it is not obvious where the "host" stand is but we were greeted right away. The patio seating is nice and is covered. The walls opening out to the patio were all open when we were there and we were seated at a table right at that opening so it was chilly for me.. but my guy liked it. The tables are spread out enough to have conversation but also in an intimate style. There is way more room than you think in this place. The kitchen is an open concept and I love that! It is fun to watch people work. We ordered espresso martinis which were good. There is a full bar so order what you like. The martinis were good... The bread served before dinner was good... kind of a dark sourdough I don't know for sure but I liked the flavor. We ordered the Fennel Pollen Crusted Double R Ranch New York Strip which is a 14 oz our night and is Market Price which was $64 on our visit. We shared that and it was a nice piece of meat. However, the start to me was really the mashed potatoes which I normally don't need or care about. The steak seasoning being on them was kinda amazing. The lobster mushrooms were new to me and they are very meaty which I liked. We did not get dessert because we were in a hurry for an OMSI presentation. Overall this was spendy -- steak and 3 martinis was $130 but it is a nice "date" restaurant.

Place pretty nice and staff are friendly. We started with the pan sear scallops. Perfectly cook but this looking seasoning and acid just sweet on sweet. For entree we had a veggie pizza , roasted chicken and osso bucco. The best thing was the pizza. The roasted chicken good but lack flavor and osso bucco decent but seems lack of focus seating bed of peas.

Here on a visit! This was more casual upscale than super fancy. Plenty of reservations open for dinner on the 4th. Our server was an friendly and attentive older gentleman. The food was delicious and worth it when you remember every food product is locally bought. That's why the price is what it is, support local businesses! The table had paper over the table cloth which lessened the ambiance, I wish it was just cloth. It was loud so if you're going for an intimate meal, request a private one further away from the entrance and open kitchen concept. The food was tasty but the salmon wasn't as flavor packed as I had hoped. It was well made but I prefer it had more of the glaze it came with. It was not quite what I was hoping for our last meal in Portland but it got better as it went on. Things can always be better for overall it was very pleasant and the food was delicious!

I ate here about a week ago and absolutely loved my experience. Happy hour is very well worth it and I was satisfied. Highly recommend for a nice night out or an excellent treat. The food was all handled with great care and I loved the ambiance of the whole place.

This is exactly what you would expect: Upscale, classy with a clean, quiet ambiance. I loved the open kitchen and plant vases throughout, but the staff seemed a bit on the pretentious side. Not surprised to learn the owner's background with other local restaurant ventures. Definitely caters towards a certain type of clientele. Warning: They don't do slices for Pizza Week, only whole pies.

This place has been on the radar since even during my previous marriage. But there were a couple things that caught my current wife's eye. Reservations and happy hour in the dining room. She also got inspiration from that Korean mom video on the Tick Tock. What was good. Great deal on the happy hour menu. We really liked the pizza. Not as poofy as other Neapolitan styles but still just as yummy. The famous lamb pasta was really yummy. Perfect pasta. However the value is a little off considering the amount of lamb that you get. This is not an entree. The desserts were delicious and well composed but really expensive. Mind you there is also a service charge on everything so it adds up. The olives and cheese plate were meh. Actually the olives were too salty and the cheese plate lacked a sweet element so it actually was kind of hard to eat. The cheeses were not explained either. In general the service was a little spotty. Pacing was off and we were left a long time waiting for the drinks and check. I'd come back for happy hour but probably avoid the non hh things.

The interior of the restaurant is very romantic and designed well. I wanted to love this place but a few things feel flat for me: 1- one of the oysters were ordered had the most pungent smell to it! 2-the meatballs came out lukewarm warm almost cold 3- Pappardelle pasta was very small dish, more like an appetizer than a meal 4- pepperoni because was the best thing on the menu along with the pesto Brussels sprouts The serve was also a bit slow, I wouldn't understood if the restaurant was full but there were only about 3 tables for the first hour of our service

CL is an iconic Portland Eatery - but there are cons 1) expensive 2) noisy (3 sep train honks and lots of noisy street traffic) 3) 10% service charge ? GTFOH 4) slow service Bonus- the carrot cake to go was not much bigger than my Keyfab Time to not go back.

It was Thanksgiving and our household hates to cook...so we decided to try this place...first time ever. To be fair...this was not their typical menu, rather a Thanksgiving buffet featuring many of the holiday classics. The spread included salad, mash potato, stuffing, mac and cheese, cranberry, veggies, dessert and more. The food line was long but moved well....it was a self serve deal. Both my wife and I agreed...the food was just average. Not bad...but nothing was really exceptional either. We also sampled a couple of the sweet treats...again...basic fare. But what takes my review down a star is the bill....specifically a house "service fee" as it is listed on the bill. I asked what this was and my server said it is a fee implemented during COVID to cover back of house...that sounds like a tip for the back staff to me...but she said it is not really a tip. Well...I did the math and it was exactly 10% of our bill...sure seems like a tip. We ended up tipping the additional 10% to make sure we were leaving 20% on the meal...but that process seems very deceptive to me and quite frankly made me feel uncomfortable as I had to explain to the server why we we only left 10% in the tip line...I eat out at restaurants all around the country and have seen built in gratuity but nothing quite like this "service charge"...it is for that reason that I do not plan on ever returning to this restaurant.

Clarklewis' wild mushroom and sausage pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had! The salad with whipped cheese and fried shallots was delicious! Their menu seemed very seasonal and I can't wait to try their next menu!

Dear Bruce, I have a group 12-15 and I am seeking an upscale restaurant who can fit us comfortably, preferably if possible in an area where we can have some privacy or area a bit separated as this will be our last night in Portland? Can u help?

Our visits almost always end with a shopping expidition into the wine shop side of the space. As fans of white wines from NW Spain, we've always been pleased with their Albarino offerings, and this is the only place in Portland that I've ever found a Godello.

Garrett was super helpful and we talked a bit about what I was thinking, and found three options within my budget. We settled on a fun but not too crazy wine from the Canary Islands. He held the wine for me at the front and I was able to just grab and go later in the afternoon. The price was also just right, as it was listed for $18 more on the vino app. Came back in a week later for drinks and prices were also great with a 3 drink flight for $19 all with good pours. Had a chenin blanc, a chardonnay, and a Malbec. All were phenomenal and bar staff were friendly. This is definitely earned a spot in the rotation. Love it.

Some nights they have tastings that they have preselected. Last night, based on Alex's recommendation, after telling him my preferences, I had the 2021 Crozes-Hermitage from Paris. It was a bigger red, but so smooth. Next I went with the Rioja Gran Reserva which was more fruit forward. Another winner. Their cheese and jam plates are fabulous, the cheese especially delicious, and pair perfectly with the wines.
