It's spots like these that help Portland keep its "Keep Portland Weird" charm alive! Fun, quirky, and serving outstanding beverages -- what more could you ask for? We stopped by for a quick pick-me-up, and that's exactly what we got. I ordered a coffee, while my husband, who originally planned to do the same, changed his mind after seeing the fun cocktail menu. Both drinks were great! We also tried a sandwich, which was just okay. Service was friendly, and the ambiance perfectly matched the quirky, whimsical vibe.

I came here during the holidays. They had a cute holiday menu with specialty drinks. This place was packed on a weekday morning, which tells you how popular it is. The bartender was very busy, and this didn't get in the way of his service and patience while I made my selections. It is such a cute and cozy space, I highly recommend it for a nice coffee or cocktail with friends.

this spot is so cute, cozy, and spacious. it doubles as a coffee shop and cocktail bar. i always appreciate a versatile space. i tried the pie chai (masala chai, oat milk, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar reduction). this was so tasty, i loved the tang of the apple cider vinegar !

Our favorite coffee spot in Portland! Quick service, yummy coffee and healthy options, and the coziest ambiance.

The place is cute! I hadn't been to the Sandy area in quite a while but it's gotten nicer with time. There isn't any parking, but you can find street neighborhood parking about a 3-5 minute walk away. I came in on an early morning weekday and it wasn't too busy. There's a single barista making the drinks who walks them over to your table. Service was kind and quick. Overall I enjoyed the environment and it was a nice space with a good amount of chairs and tables to meet up with friends for coffee. The menu is a bit limited for caffeine, and the matcha was okay tasting.

Okay what a cool place! No more complaining about lack of late night options, Portlanders, because Dear Sandy is open 8am-midnight and the whole menu can be ordered anytime: cocktails in the AM? breakfast sandwich at 10pm? an open tab for coffee?! I received excellent service during my recent visit for a midday coffee meeting. The bartender/barista was personable, available, and quick. The whole place gives off vintage 70s vibes with floral couches, funky lighting, and gallery walls. They've got wifi and space for small groups. They're located on Sandy Blvd at the very top of NE 28th. Parking isn't super great so I hope they're able to stay busy. It's becoming a cool little corner, with The Zipper and Hollywood Vintage across the way!

Coming here out of town was a nice treat, because not only was the coffee really good, especially for the price, the staff felt very welcoming and chill when I arrived. It's a very aesthetically pleasing place to chill with friends and do some studying work. Made me wish I could come here more often, but since I'll be leaving town soon, I'll at least recommend this place to others here!

Excellent, warm, friendly, professional service; delicious coffee; keep Portland weird 70s vibes. Played "Duell" -- a 70's board game located under a coffee table-- for a solid hour. Came home, napped, and am ready to return for cocktails.

This is the coolest place that swings both ways a bar and a coffee shop...

OK, first of all, they are slower than molasses... That is not enough reason to not give them five stars because everything else is perfect. The concert itself is unique, clever, and much needed. You can have coffee anytime of the day up until midnight. Being able to serve alcohol supports the coffee shop to stay open late. The service is excellent and professional. There is plenty of seating arrangement to satisfy every need. Parking can be tricky at times; since, it's Street parking. We found a new hangout place. Please don't go there we want to keep it to ourselves...

Hmmm...Headed over to Dear Sandy to hang and knit for awhile while others were still shopping in the neighborhood. The 1970s were definitely in the house, the couches, tables and lighting fixtures all reminded me of the Partridge Family years. We got a couple of flat whites, an iced matcha and lime drink and an oat and chocolate bar. Drinks were solid. Staff working behind the bar were all great.

Went to this place expressly because of a recommendation on Reddit. Really enjoyed it! Keep-Portland-Weird-ness is on full display (but it's kind of "curated", if you understand). The full bar with happy customers in the bright, cheery light of day is an interesting sight. Nice for people watching. We had ice tea, coffee and I had a muffin. Had to take off one star for the muffin, very dry, definitely a day-old type of situation...not fresh.

Five stars. What a vibe this place is. They do a mean espresso tonic here and the cocktails are excellent, too. The baristas/bartenders are delightful folks who are good at what they do and are so lovely. Highly recommend.

dear sandy is such a cute coffee/cocktail bar! i love the concept, and decor is very well done. highly recommend checking it out!! we came for some mid morning drinks on a monday. service was relatively quick once we ordered, tho we did have to wait a bit to order since there was one bartender. people were sitting working, chatting, eating, etc. it is a very welcoming space where can enjoy yourself. the menu looks really great and has a good variety of drinks. we were happy with the simple iced tea and yummy late that we got.

Laulau, chicken long rice...CHICKEN LONG RICE! I haven't had that in years and suddenly my mouth was watering. None of the other plate lunch/Hawaiian food places in PDX have had that to my knowledge, and I needed to have it now. My dining companion was taking in the meat jun on the menu, as well as the fried rice omelette. We went in and ordered the chicken adobo fried rice omelette and chicken long rice on the side. Double starch, double chicken, check. Loved that the menu pointed out they serve koshihikari rice. I knew I was in good hands. No medium grain rice for this gal. The service was friendly, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. There was a nice note on the wall saying the table would be bussed by staff, so we didn't have to play the guessing game of "search for the bus bins." Clean tables, bright light from the windows, good food. The adobo gravy on the omelette was winnahs. The omelette itself was not holding a candle to Elena's Food Truck, but tasty and filling. The chicken long rice was perfect. The only improvement would have been a nice hit of white pepper, maybe. The only thing not quite to my liking was the mac salad, but that didn't stop us from mopping our plates clean. We will be back for everything else on the menu.

All the sides you would want...guac, pico de gallo, sour cream, grilled scallion and jalapeño, rice, beans cheese plus your choice of tortillas to wrap it all up in. The chile relleno had lots of melty cheese and was thinly battered, just my style. So much yummy food, plenty for two. We had grapefruit Jaritos and n/a Corona but the margaritas look to be very popular, we even saw several huge ones with two straws being shared. Cannot comment on dessert, not enough room.
