On a recommendation from a new friend I grabbed two orders to go. I order both items off of the Lunch Menu. I wasn't sure what to get, but the hostess was very helpful in suggestions, one being the sandwich that I ordered. The Fried Shrimp Po Boy had tons of flavor. All the toppings were fresh and I'm so happy they put the fries on the side in a different box. The SW Chicken Salad was huge. Again was very fresh and they kept the chicken on the side which made it easy for me to reheat later. That came with Cilantro dressing which was great. Eye catching patio. Very peaceful and rustic atmosphere. I ended up choosing the Halibut as it was a lighter option. Fish was cooked perfectly. Although I prefer a little more spice, the risotto was a nice compliment to the fish. Service was prompt and friendly. Great spot for an espresso martini as well. read more

Came for a birthday party that was about 10 people large on a weeknight. We had our own private room which was nice as we had some privacy and didn't need to worry about being too loud. There were maybe 4 tables in the dining room eating and there appeared to be a company function going on in the back from what I could tell. The food prices are pretty high, a tad too high in my opinion. And if they are going to have the prices this high than the service needs to match. While the salad I had was good, we had two people order their steaks a certain way and when brought to the table they needed to be returned. The waitress rather than do what I would deem appropriate and just apologize and take them back retorted with "that's our version of medium well". It's not how you expect a server to act in a place where $30+ entrees are the norm. At the end of the meal, the server seemed to just want us to leave, not coming around and waiting for us in the bar area we spotted her picking wax out of her ear and not doing much of anything else. In short, the salad I can say is good. The prices are higher than I believe they need to be and the service I had didn't match the food prices. read more

If my friend who I was with didn't suggest this place, I would've gone somewhere else. I asked the hostess who answered the phone on Wednesday, 3/16/22, 5:41pm where the restaurant was located and her response was "do you have a phone, pull up mapquest and read the directions; I asked again what restaurants were around her location to give me an idea where Bishop's Post was located she said "there were several restaurants that were here before that had closed and it's us now." Once I made it to the restaurant, she walked me outside and I asked if the heater could be turned on as it was a bit chilly her response to me was "it's not Winter anymore and it cost money." The service was literally the worst I've ever seen anywhere. Went for a bridal shower and wanted it to be a good experience for the bride to be and it was anything but. Our drinks were empty the majority of our meal, our waitress did not check on us at all, she did not take our order for at least a half hour after being seated, and it was purely awful seeing that the meal was $300. It was VERY hard to tip her 20% as I've had better service at fast food restaurants. Never again. read more

In Chesterfield MO, this is a diamond in the rough personal favorite!! Just enjoyed their New Years Eve "pre-fix", including champagne with 4 course dinner and wine pairings - truly an awesome dining experience to ring in the new year! Started our meal with freshly prepared fried calamari and bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp, then had tasty salads and wonderful entrees of seared Tuna and Prime Rib. And topped it off with Bishops "basket" dessert, scrumptious! If you enjoy upscale comfort foods, this is a must eatery; whether for lunch, happy hour specials or full dinner selections, they have a perfect variety of options to please any taste palate. Plus to mention a fine wine selection. Also, the staff and ownership are fabulous, very friendly and attentive. The ambience is nice and relaxed, so go casual or dressed up, and definitely check out the patio with waterfall on a warm day or evening. Super restaurant. Most beautiful setting I've seen for a restaurant, all done by the restaurant. Spectacular outdoor plaza, well covered by an a-shaped roof and huge umbrellas on the sides. Lovely garden and flowers and waterfall from a man made ridge on the periphery. The staff was the best, courteous, friendly, and efficient. The tenderloin meatloaf was the tastiest I've ever eaten due to seasonings and touched of other meats that enhanced its flavour. The chicken Parmesan penne creatively combined a marinara sauce in the chicken with Alfredo on the penne. Even the green beans were special. A superb dessert, butter goo cake, was a St. Louis specialty adapter snd densifier for even better flavour and texture. Kudos to Luke from Denver. A 'must' to eat at. read more

So onto to B with my wife and I going through the alphabet on Friday Night. We were really looking forward to Bishop's Post. Aesthetically it was fantastic. The patio is huge and is about as nice as you will find. It did fall short though. The spinach and artichoke dip was really good. I liked my Caesar Salad by my wife's had a too much dressing. She had a filet which excellent but I had the meatloaf and it really missed the mark. Too much sauce. But what was really frustrating was the service from our server. Forgot to get drinks twice and it was not until we made eye contact that he went back and got it. Then it took a really long time to get our check. The server tend to gather around a serving area on the patio. They have food runners so our food came out quickly. Just overall ok. Would consider going back for just apps and drinks. WOW - this place went downhill quickly. I have been to nearly every iteration of this restaurant over the years that has been in this space. They seem to start out strong and for some reason quickly decline. Tonight was the last straw after three poor experiences. This makes four. It really is the little things. After we order ... take the menus away from the small round table that has drinks and plates - I finally just returned them to the front desk. When we order food and it is delivered - bring the silverware and a napkins - it helps us, you know, with eating the food! When you take away the food and the napkins and silverware - and then we order another app.... well - bring a new set of napkins and silverware to go with the food (I am sorry you were annoyed that I got up and found the napkins, after asking, but with no response to my ask... well - the food was getting cold) When you drop off the check, please come back and pick it up! I know it's probably your break time, so let me just take it to the bar for us to pay .... I needed more steps anyway. Bottom line, when you have to work harder than the wait staff and still have to pay $100 for apps. - well - not exceptional, won't return. But be my guest! read more

Wife and I had a belated Wedding Anniversary. One of our favorite places. I had thought i made a reservation for today but I inadvertently reserved on the 11th. They were kind to have us seated. Ordered the Crab Cakes which is pure crab, no fillers. Delicious!! Hose Salad with Strawberry Vinaigrette was excellent!! I ordered the Seared Sea Scallops which were perfectly cooked. The food was okay and overpriced. The service was terrible... the waiter acted as if he had somewhere better to be. However, the management staff was very cordial and professional as they had to come assist our waiter multiple times throughout the meal. I ordered a 22oz bone in Ribeye with a twice baked potato and street corn. The twice baked potato was more like a mashed potato poured over the plate and skin with the steak on top. The street corn was the best part, but I would have preferred if they would have removed it from the Cobb before serving. Regarding the steak it tasted fine; however, it was only about a half inch thick and was definitely not 22oz. For the price I paid I would have expected better. read more

The food was good. Priced a little high, but that's to be expected in the area and building they're in. My pork chop was cooked perfectly, moist and had good flavor. I have eaten here a few times and feel this is a place you should stop in and enjoy a great meal. Although the indoor dining area is very nice and comfortable, it pales by comparison to the spectacular outdoor area. On each visit my group had excellent service and fantastic food. Some examples of the menu we have tried include the meatloaf, fried chicken, french dip and a pasta special of linguine with shrimp - all were excellent. If you like salads, do yourself a favor and order the wedge salad. I guarantee you it will be the best you have ever eaten. Lastly, the seafood gumbo is outstanding and rivals some that I have eaten in New Orleans. The only reason I deducted one star is because getting in and out of the restaurant is difficult (the steps) for people who have trouble walking. Recently, my wife and I decided to have dinner at a place she loves for lunch. While our experience had some positive aspects, several issues left us quite disappointed. The drinks were good, and the smoked trout was tasty. However, the presentation was unappealing--it looked like it came out of a can rather than being a nice smoked trout filet. It resembled tuna fish on a plate. For our main courses, we ordered salmon and filet Oscar style. Both were cooked perfectly. However, there were two significant discrepancies on the menu. Firstly, it clearly states "lump crab," but what we received was a skimpy crab cake. Who puts a crab cake on a steak? I've had Oscar-style steaks many times, and they always come with lump crab meat, never a crab cake. Secondly, the tarragon sauce was barely present--there was hardly even a teaspoon. We spent well over $200 for a meal that was just okay. The menu descriptions need to be accurate, or you should use lump crab meat like other steakhouses. read more

I came here for dinner last night, and felt that I needed to update my review. Although I was quite pleased with my happy hour dishes on my last visit to Bishop's Post, my entree selection of the Shrimp and Grits was not the best. There was a strange, salty, dark sauce that overpowered the dish and took away from the rest of the flavors of the dish. I was not pleased. Aside from that the service and atmosphere of the patio were great. My dinner dates all enjoyed their meals, and I liked the spinach artichoke dip appetizer that we had, and defniitely liked the red velvet cheesecake that we shared for dessert. There was also live music on the patio until 8 pm last night, which added to the experience. I have to say though that our table for four was very small and crowded, and the patio seats were not comfortable at all. Three out of the four of us commented on our discomfort. I tried to go against the grain of getting a burger by going with the Shrimp and Grits, but I will not make that mistake again. read more

Ok, so my doctor's office referred me to eat here. So after a LONG and painful day....the worst day! I mean HORRIBLE! We decided to stop here. We decided to sit on the patio. What a delight! It was so tranquil...so lovely. The waterfall coming down the rocks was plenty to ease my soul. The string lights and heaters made it more delightful. Our waitress was so very kind. She was OUTSTANDING, and let me tell you she was on the ball. Not one issue here. My son had the calamari and we tried it ourselves and wow! The best! He also had the kids sliders and loved them and the fries. I had the burger with a lettuce bun with a side of green beans. Yummy!! Cooked perfectly! My husband did the club with fries and also said it was amazing. My wine was sold out, so I went hard and did a few whiskey sours! Those were even on point! The chocolate cake at the end for my boy to celebrate a belated birthday was a nice closing. We took some great pictures and made some great memories to the end of a horrible day. The food was delicious... but the pricing is absolutely insane! The waitress told us the special was a blacken grouper, and our mistake by not asking the price. My husband ordered a side Ceasar salad to go along with his dinner. When we received the check, the grouper was $48 and $10 additional charge for the side Ceasar salad. We also had a situation when the waitress left a pen for us to sign the credit card charge. The pen leaked ink all over my husbands hand which also got on his slacks that are now ruined. After avoiding most places during Covid, I figured why not give this place a shot, considering I recalled it was very spacious, many different rooms, and the food was good. Now, I'm wishing I have even ventured in. Let's start with the actual seating. We got there about 6:30 and were taken to a room where only one other couple was seated. Soon, though, table after table was filled and the room was packed. No spacing, no distancing. When we asked the waiter, which I'll get to in a second, he said they don't need to space because they're only using 25% of the restaurant (which also did not seem to be true, as another room was completely packed and you literally were on top of one another). Now, let's get to the waiter. When we sat down, got our drink order, which was fine. Brought it out and then, when we weren't ready to order right then, ignored us for 30 minutes. Ok, fine, but he couldn't even make eye contact with us when taking the order, brought water from another table to give to us, the order went in one ear and out another, and the food he brought out looked like it was reheated in a microwave. Not joking. I'm including the pic. Oh, and I get messing up every so often on an order, but he didn't even listen. When I asked what he brought me, as it tasted really weird, he said it was a diet (it may have been diet, but it also had some liquor in there or wasn't a clean glass). When he brought me what I ordered, he nearly just dropped it next to me. And then the check, he literally reached across my face to grab it. No asking if he could take the check, just boom, almost hitting me in the face. I've literally left 3 reviews in my life. The good places never have to leave a review because we just go back time and again. Even if the place is ok or buying special, again, no review. But this was absolutely horrendous. Felt terrified putting people so damn close, especially when you have literally a huge place to spread people out. Should never happen. And then literally every table got waited on before we did and none had been there prior to us. Went to dinner with my Family and requested outdoor seating. We were seated under the new wooden canopy which was great because it started pouring rain after we arrived. Service was excellent and I throughly enjoyed the Black and Bleau Beef tip pasta. I also sampled my son in laws Rid Eye and it was outstanding as well. It seems that the menu lacks any lighter fare entrees (ie. hamburgers or other sandwiches) at the dinner hour. So we arrived early (sitter showed up early and we ran out the door) and told the hostess we would be at the bar but our reservation was at 6 (its like 520 now). So 6pm comes and goes and its not super crowded but we don't want to pester the hostess so we wait...and wait...and at 6:10 we asked her if our table was ready and woah- it was. Calamari appetizer- just fine- sauce - just fine Prime rib- cooked perfectly, exterior seasoned incredibly but the the interior portions were lacking in seasoning Beef tenderloin pasta- one note. Outdoor seating is some of the best in our area. If you are looking for just a nice ambiance and some drinks this may be the place for you. Also Conner was an excellent server, one of the best we have had. We liked that management stoped by to ask how things were and there was a server assistant helping a lot. Unfortunately the food just wasn't that great. I got the fruit and salad trio. It maybe had 3 grapes and 3 pieces of melon. The egg salad was so salty I couldn't even eat it. Bishops post is an absolute iconic destination if you're in the chesterfield area. We did not have reservations, which is highly recommended. We went on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm without a reservation, and the restaurant was empty. We were mandated with a strict 2 hour limit due to us not having reservations, given the fact the restaurant had maybe 4 tables seated for a large location. The food was exceptional. The drinks were fairly priced given the atmosphere. Outdoor seating was amazing. Staff was friendly and service was good, the only reason for the 3 star is how upset they were we did not make reservations despite the open availability at the time. We highly recommend making reservations several weeks out. Dress code is business casual to casual. The water fountain pictures are incredible. We loved the restaurant, wine, and food. Just beware you need reservations to avoid any unnecessary tension. read more

One person had the swordfish and it smelled fishy. Not fresh? My husband had a filet which was tough in places. Cheaper cut? What realty concerns me is that I am bringing a party of 9 in a week. I want to say that the service here was fantastic and our server Christopher was fantastic. He made eye content and was very attentive. Now for my experience that made it a less than desirable dinner. I ordered the special 12 oz stripe steak and that's my usual go to if I see it on the menu. I ordered it medium rare. The steak and sides came out and the steak was well done on half and medium well on the other. The sides of potatoes and cauliflower were obviously premade and heated back up. Not what I was expecting for $45.... that was unreasonable for the food that came out. The server immediately apologized and the kitchen manager came out to talk to us. We were in a hurry and needed to leave so I just stuck with the steak they gave me but what really gets me is the manager blamed his server, who was fantastic, for not checking on us right away. When the server absolutely did check on us. We were just in a hurry. So I am extremely disappointed that the kitchen manager blamed his poor meal on his server. All in all, I would only come here during Happy Hour the food was sub par to say the best. And the kitchen should not be blaming the servers for their downfall.
