They decided to pack my order, but didn't include butter or syrup. I call the place and all they tell me is they'll set aside some syrup. Why would anyone want to eat cold pancakes? I normally love Biscuits and just had the most disappointing delivery from them. I had ordered the chicken fried steak with red potatoes, over medium eggs and for the gravy to be on the side. What I received was chicken fried chicken, scrambled eggs, hash browns and gravy on top of the chicken making it inedible and soggy. I tossed the chicken and eggs and just had the hash browns and biscuits (which I had also requested for the restaurant made jam as this has never been an issue before and received the pre packaged freezer jam). Biscuits isn't my favorite place for breakfast in Portland, but it is the place I go when I don't want to travel far from home and they have decent food at good prices. I do like their variety of breakfast items and my favorite is the avocado benedict. The poached eggs are just the right amount of runny for me and the hashbrowns are the right amount of crispy. Also good is the Joe's scramble and the almond crusted french toast, which comes in a combo. Any place that you can get french toast or pancakes in a combo with eggs and bacon, instead of ordering them on the side for more money, gets gold stars from me! read more

We come here quite a bit on the weekends and get breakfast to go.. we live right up the hill so it's great to swing by and pick up brunch. We have eaten in the restaurant before as well, but it is a little sterile feeling so we prefer the take out. The food is usually pretty good.. diner food for sure, but good. If you're looking for a greasy spoon breakfast for brunch or after a night of drinking, this is a great option. If you're looking for a classic Portland brunch spot, head to Genie's downtown. However, the food is still good. We like the omelettes, biscuits and gravy, and eggs your way.. I also love the Cobb salad for lunch. Staff is very friendly.. all of them, it seems, are high school/college kids with their first job. So patience and compassion is important. Pro Tip: The take out is WAY faster than eating in. The onion rings are basically a bigger version of what you would get from Burger King, minus flavor. Ate 1 and stopped. The Chicken strips I had to stop when I bit into a yellow ball of fat and spit it back on the plate (see picture). The breading was separated from the chicken, which means they were most likely frozen to ready chicken. It was just pure garbage. Overall food 1/10, and the one was because the Soda was good. My husband and I went to the Biscuits on 91st in Happy Valley. When it was time to get our bill our waitress Sara used the machine on her hip and handed us a bill, and my husband gave her our credit card. He realized the bill was too high ($64 for 2 breakfasts) and told her right away. She realized she had given us another tables bill. She was adamant the charge wouldn't go through as we paid the correct bill. Wrong. Sara remembered the boo-boo but they refused to give us our money back. I spent HOURS talking with the manager, Dustin, and then his boss David. David said there were no charges for the amount we were wrongly charged in the last 6 months of doing business (yah, right), basically calling me a liar. I had to dispute it with my CC company and did finally get my $64 back. A simple "I'm sorry that happened. How can we make it right?" would have been great. First, we arrived on a Tuesday morning (a morning that I didn't expect a lot of customers, but their fandom is still going strong), and a host kindly asked us to wait to be seated while she checked out another customer. Fair enough, right? We waited for a little bit before two other new customers came by, and ANOTHER waitress seated them right away. Oh, and she definitely saw us too, but despite the fact we were not even in the line of paying, she ignored our existence and proceeded with the other customers. That should have been the red flag, but the first host we saw sort of apologized, and we were starving. Strike one. Fast forward to after our orders were taken... I ordered a Cafe Mocha because it is my absolute favorite, and it was a morning when coffee is much needed. After 20 minutes, nothing. It is safe to assume they will serve the coffee first because EVERYONE else around me had a cup before their plates arrived. We were the only ones with an empty table! When we finally got ahold of our server, she simply said "oh right" and was on her way, only to have another server brought me my first cup. Neither. Apologized. For. The. Most. Agonizing. 20. Minutes. Of. Wait. It felt like an hour for me when I was caffeine-less. Strike two. The belated arrival of my first cup messed up my eating, I was too focused on eating absolutely everything on my plate, I didn't get to enjoy the coffee moment, which was supposed to happen while I was waiting for the meal. Ugh, yes, I could have timed it better myself, and here's our last draw - my boyfriend asked for jam to go with his pancakes, the server forgot about it.. AGAIN. We came here a couple months ago in search for our new, close-to-home breakfast spot. I ordered an eggs florentine, BF ordered a shrimp omelet with avocado. Mine came out with a handful of cold spinach leaves, cold, waxy slices of tomato, and stale, cold English muffins. What the?! I just stared at it for a while but still ate it in disbelief since I was so hungry. BF's omelet had a heaping scoop of plain bay shrimp dumped all on one side, and a half of an avocado literally scooped out whole on the other side. We LOVE avocados, but dang, he was mad. Really, they couldn't spread it out just a bit? And it smelled really, really shrimpy. I wondered if the cook had to take a major dump and just threw everything on our plates before the a pants explosion happened. I usually have something to say when we get a meal that makes me wish I just stayed home and cooked myself, but the servers seemed useless, whiney and stressed enough about their love lives and coworkers, as we sat there and got a loud verbal display of their very sad lives. Today I decided to be adventurous and try the chicken and.sweet potato waffles. The chicken was flavorful and cooked well. Wasn't dry inside. I love all Biscuits Cafe locations and love this one, too. Food is always as expected (good) and service is generally pretty quick. I've never had any issues with customization for my orders or smaller things like requesting extra napkins. Parking at this particular location has never been an issue for the times I have been, as there are a slew of extra spots nearby, however I could potentially see it being a problem maybe mid-day during the business week. I'm not sure. My party size has only been 1 or 2 people, counting myself, so the wait has never been too bad even when they are busy. But I would recommend expecting a bit of a wait if your party is larger. All in all, I like this location and when I'm nearby I definitely plan to return. read more

Waited about 5 minutes to be seated, since the single person at the front was ringing out other people --- OK, I get it, y'all are busy. Luckily, my waitress swooped in to the rescue and was absolutely on top of it the entire time I was there from that point (without hovering). My fiance ordered the same shrimp omelet your bf got. It came out with a surprisingly strong seafood smell to it. It smelled very, very strongly of bad shrimp/bad fish (strong seafood aroma) We made mention of it to our server and she said they're shrimp was fresh, and all their food was made fresh daily. Well after 5 or so bites, my fiance had enough of the overly fishy aroma She took the rest home with her, and ended up throwing the rest away at work that night , because the shrimp tasted so bad. Well that night, at her work and at home, she got sick. Pretty damn sick indeed. All the tell tale signs of food poisoning were there, trust me... All the while, we knew who the culprit was. We contacted the owner the next day and told her of our situation. She repeated the same fresh line the server had told us, "our food is made fresh daily and we've never had a problem with a customer getting food poisoning before." Okay, so either we're lying, or this is her first food poisoning incident (which it was). She continues, "I'm very busy right now, I can comp your meal, otherwise I have to go because I'm busy." Well obviously we took the 2nd option with an attitude like that. This was literally like our 14th or 15th time eating at this Biscuits, and we had never had problems before; but this incident was enough to make us go elsewhere. We've been here a handful of times because a dear friend (senior citizen), and my husband enjoy the large portions. Old School, average, standard and "American"are all appropriate adjectives to describe Biscuits. The owners met while working at Sambo's back in 1968, so, if you're old enough to remember Sambo's that will give you a good idea of what to expect at Biscuits. Heavy food, high in fat, sodium and cholesterol because is what they're all about. Granted, these folks don't claim to serve healthy food or cater to special diets, I'm just sharing my observations. Atmosphere = 1 star at best. This location is in a 'modern' strip mall space overlooking a large parking lot and the 205 freeway looking west. The eating area is filled with tables in a completely open space so it feels crowded and, when busy, (which it has been every time we've been) it is quite loud. Yes, the portion sizes are BIG but the food is truly average. Let me clarify--this is a few steps above Denny's or Sherri's quality but it's just nothing special. The items are also very hit-or-miss. Some items are decent, others (eggs benedict, corned beef hash) are really bad. If you're on any sort of restrictive diet (i.e. gluten-free, dairy-free, low-fat, low-sodium, etc.) all I can say is good luck eating at Biscuits. Pros: *Polite staff *Decent standard coffee (leaded or unleaded not espresso, doubt it's local) *Large portions (if that equates with value for you) *Moderate pricing *Location?
