I'd been meaning to try this location after seeing a few of my fellow Yelper friends review this place. Just like they said, this place did not disappoint! Serving up quality diner food with friendly service, classic hits, and blast from the past decor. What We Ordered: - Steak & Eggs: Under $20?! Count me in! Seasoned well and cooked perfectly to order for both the over easy eggs and medium rare steak. Breakfast perfection! - Patty Melt: My boyfriend said it was delicious, and the small bite I tried was great. You can tell they season their burger patties. Honestly, we both left very impressed as all the food was seasoned well and cooked beautifully. Who says diner food can't be done well?! Nana Dee's has set the standard for diner food!

Glad the food is as good as I remember it.

The restaurant itself gives off more of a farmhouse-y, homey vibe, as opposed to a traditional, vintage diner. All the same, it was a comfortable place to get a bite. The portions were generous and I quite enjoyed the Southern Breakfast that I ordered. The Southern Breakfast consisted of sausage patties and eggs atop a biscuit and smothered in country gravy. It was a hearty meal and also delicious. I sampled a bite of my sister's pancakes as well and they were incredibly tasty. Our server was so sweet and knowledgable on the menu. I will absolutely return here for future meals--great spot!

I didn't care to listen to the music while I was eating. Ordered fried cod fish special and chicken fried steak dinner (since they don't do breakfast). Fried fish was nice and crispy. Came with coleslaw which I thought was pretty good and fries were nothing special just crinkled fries. My chicken fried steak was decent size, nice and crispy. The mash potato and gravy was OK. Gravy could have used more seasoning, I don't ever put salt on my food but I was tempted. But mixed with fried steak balanced it out little bit. I also opted for soup of the day which was Albondiga. Soup was not quite Albondiga but it wasn't too bad. Over the atmosphere was nice minus random people singing. Food was for me just ok, lacked in flavor. I would give this place 3 and half but definitely not 4 worthy for me. I probably won't come here again.

We love Welcome Diner, and have been here many times. It is definitely not fancy, but it is exactly…read morewhat it should be. It feels very hipster and very retro and it just has so much personality. There is a lot of outdoor seating in what is essentially a front yard. There are tables and string lights and lots of trees and there are even a couple of playground horses. When you walk in there is a hostess desk kind of pieced together with different pieces of furniture and above it is a turning disco ball. Could there be anything better? There are booths all the way around, and there are no tables - - but you can sit at the long counter and watch your food being made. That really is the best place to sit because it is so interesting to watch them. It's amazing to me that they can keep all those balls in the air and still make all this food so delicious. There is a small bar off to one side. Make sure you go to the bathroom. The bathroom is nothing special, just a room full of graffiti and stickers, but if you look up you'll see the ceiling covered with little pinatas and a little donkey in the hallway. The menu is just what you would think for a diner menu. You can order breakfast or some sandwiches, burgers, Mac and cheese, and there is a selection of dinner entrees. Sitting at the counter we saw a plate with a steak being prepared and it looked absolutely fantastic. We were not really very hungry, and just wanted a quick small bite. Have you got that Welcome Burger, and I got the Sasha. Hubby said his Burger was good, although it was quite small. The Sasha has smoked pork and they put the pork on the grill and it becomes a crispy kind of Patty of shredded pork, then they put the crispy shredded pork patty on a noble bun with coleslaw and a fantastic horseradish sauce. My sandwich was a 10 out of 10 for sure! I kind of feel like in Phoenix there are some areas that you can go to or not, but welcome diner is a place that everybody should go to at least once. I really want to go back for breakfast which is kind of shocking because I'm not a breakfast person.

I have never felt as unwelcome at a restaurant as I did during our visit to Welcome Diner…read more I arrived with three friends and two dogs, encouraged by the dog-friendly patio. Before we could sit down, a waitress abruptly warned us that rain was expected in three minutes, that the dining room had no available seating, and that pets were not allowed inside. We decided to take our chances, retrieved our own menus, and sat outside. More than 10 minutes passed without anyone acknowledging us, despite staff serving other customers. My friend even tapped on the ordering window and was ignored. When the same waitress finally returned, I asked for a Bloody Mary, and she appeared noticeably disappointed that we had decided to stay. Her response was an incredulous, "You're staying???" We explained that we were willing to take our chances with the weather, at which point she informed me that they were out of Bloody Mary mix. I then requested waters. Another 10 minutes passed before she dropped off the waters without taking our order. After another 10 minutes without service, we left, having spent approximately 30 minutes feeling ignored and unwelcome. We found a much better experience across the street, where we enjoyed attentive service, delicious food, and a welcoming dog-friendly patio. I understand that weather, seating limitations, and restaurant policies may be beyond a server's control. How guests are treated is not. For a restaurant called Welcome Diner, the irony was especially disappointing.

I wondered if she picked up my loose stuffing as it's normally served here in America, or rather the chef did this to all who request it. I told my husband to look for spit in his food. My hubby? Nicest guy ever. But when he knows I didn't want and could not manage fried beef..but I had fasted 21 hours. I needed sliced fresh high protein meat. Wait another 15 min or eat the mess on my plate? "Just eat the 'steak' I picked the stuffing apart - could not eat more than a thimble. Gummy gluten salty yuck was inedible. The FINGERPRINTS! 2 Fingertips past knuckles imprinted. I left it and hope someone there stopped to think "Why?" Our Waitress tried to make up by suddendly being nice when she walked behind me with a second piece of pie ...to go home. Thanked me for being agreeable or something. I nodded. I remember this saying if you l oh someone's attention the first three seconds and first three steps you'll spend the next 30 min trying to make them believe you're hiring. It's true. I was too tired this week to be extremely understanding but I'm never rude. I told my hubby let's both let this one go. And I said "But we won't return here." He nodded in agreement.
