The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was great. They were attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about providing a welcoming atmosphere and great service. Their warm hospitality made me feel welcomed and that my experience was valued. One of the highlights of my visit was the staff's extensive knowledge about the menu. The gentleman who waited on us graciously took the time to explain each dish we had questions about in detail, helping me navigate through the many options. I'm visiting Delaware and stumbled upon Biryani City Indian Restaurant and I've been eating here almost daily since! I've tried the Goat Haleem, Goat Sukka, Karivepaku Chicken, Naans, and Roti all incredibly flavorful. I ordered my food to go and once I opened the the bag I was disappointed at the portion of rice. Food was very well cooked, the only problem was that the rice portion was very minimal. The amount of entree ratio to the amount of rice ratio did not make sense. I went back in and asked for more rice and was told it would be an extra $3. I already spent well over $30 and was not about to spend more. I left back out and needless to say when I ate my meal I ran out of rice. Once I arrived home I cooked my own rice to finish the rest of the my meal. Owners if you see this please don't be selfish with rice it's the cheaper thing you can buy. read more

This is gonna be a long one, so PLEASE READ. A large amount of these good reviews are because they offer free dessert (Gulab Jamun) for a good review. We came and were incredibly excited, ordering all the most delicious food. And it delivered in terms of taste, but they forgot our second order of samosas, forgot our water (we had to ask) and continued to forget us throughout the experience. I received my food first, and then my cousin quickly after, and then my dad, and my aunt waited maybe 10 minutes, but my sister had to wait around half an hour after all of us were done, and then received cold rice. We had to talk to a manager to get warm rice, and then were charged ridiculous prices for a sad, sad meal. I really wanted to love this place, but it delivered less than nothing. We got the paneer saag, butter chicken, and garlic naan. It was on par/maybe not quite as good as nearby places. The two of us finished all of the chicken in the butter chicken really quickly and were left with a lot of sauce but no more meat. The flavors were good and we both enjoyed the meal. Prices are reasonable. Probably will come again or order to try the biryani (they were all out of all biryani by the time we got in around 6-6:30pm on a Sunday). Being a fan of biryani, I always crave for good biryani. Despite NJ having a reputation of Indian capital of USA, I did not find decent biryani (exception - biryani pot, jersey city is close to good). I worked in PA for good 6 months and then I found out great restaurant Biryani city near to my place (Norristown one). So when I was here in Delaware and found that it belongs to the same chain, could not resist and drag my friends here. They curse me now for this biryani obsession and now anytime they can abandon me for this. It was 2:30 PM and most of the restaurants give you deserted look but nope, not here. It was full and waiting time was good 30 minutes. I was here only for good mutton biryani (and my friends were here for me. Poor they), So I ordered 2 mutton biryani, 1 chicken biryani, and chicken chili beforehand so that I get my food as soon I get my table. But nope, I got the table but not food. Still, we waited 20 minutes after getting the table. Nevertheless, food came, I have asked for spicy mutton biryani, and god was it spicy? Hell yes... My wife could not eat even 1 spoon, well good for me, now I can eat whole biryani myself. :P Mutton biryani - I loved it. Pieces were little hard and it could be more soft and juicy but still, I was eating good biryani after ages so who cares. Chicken biryani was also good and so was appetizer chicken chili. The portion was a bit less though. Normally one plate is enough for me, but not here. We had mango lassi and it was also good, unlike another restaurant where they serve some mixed juice in name of mango lassi. Overall food was great, but as usual, like 90% Indian (Telugu folks) restaurant, it was too running by some family/friends and understaffed. Myself and my family was yelled and sent out of this restaurant. An young guy claimed as the owner of this restaurant came to our table saying he is the owner of the restaurant. He unbuttoned two of his button on his shirt and shown his ugly hairs and bad smell when he came close . I asked him to put the buttons back . We came to dine here as family. Definitely more of a takeout place even though they have a decent sized dining hall. There are only 2 people handling all of the to go orders, answering the phones and doing the all of the serving....This means the service is very slow. Furthermore, every time I've been here, I have had underwhelming service. We were never welcomed even though we were repeat customers. We were never given any explanation about the menu. We got chicken tika masala and chicken curry with Naan. The entrees were served piping hot and had a large amount of protein which was a plus....although they do not give enough rice on the side to match. The chicken Tika masala has been consistently very good; very flavorful. The curry chicken however, tasted nothing like any curry chicken I've ever had; it had an abnormally heavy creamy base. It tasted fine spice wise, but just not like the curry chicken I'm used to; more like chicken korma and it was just too heavy for my liking. The Naan was fresh baked, and you get a decent sized serving for the price. Overall, the experience was just ok. Service is lacking and the food, while decent, isn't good enough to justify us returning any time soon. read more

Update 2019: It's not as good as it once was. We recently ordered pickup. First thing; cleanliness.. please wipe your counters and tables down. Second; the food We had the garlic naan, butter chicken and chicken biryani. The garlic naan was soooo strong, I took one bite and had to throw the rest away. The butter chicken lacked in chicken and had an abundance of sauce. The chicken biryani as well. Our last two times we visited our wait was also much longer than told on the phone and when we arrived. We used to drive from Middletown, but now we will only consider it when we are nearby. Previous review: Absolutely love this place. The food is delicious. I would have posted the chicken biryani photo, but I ate it all and forgot to take a photo! This is a cute little place tucked on the side of a shopping center. I wanted to try it out since I heard about the opening about a month ago. The space is attractive and modern yet cozy. According to their site and menu this the third restaurant by the owners, the other two located in PA. Lots of vegetarian options and I started with the Kal Dosai and chutneys. The peanut and tomato dips were very tasty. I tried the mixed vegetable Kurma for my meal. Very good flavors and good size portions. My friend had one of the chicken dishes. Plenty leftover to take home. I also tried one of the desserts that sounded interesting, Double Ka Meeta. This was like an Indian bread pudding, served warm. This was yummy but rich, I took the majority home for the next day. Worth a try if you are local and enjoy Indian cuisine. They do takeout as well. read more
