medium spicy chicken sandwich with fries
Liam O.

So the chicken sandwich was mad spicy, the fries were crinkle cut and crispy, and they had a tangy sauce similar to Raising Cane's, and thank god they had free refills because charging for those would be a war crime with how hot the food was. I was sweating. The place itself was chill and clean, and the food came out quicker than I expected. The guy up front was pretty cool. I'm definitely coming back here.

A very solid chicken sandwich sand giant tenders. Heat has no flavor, but they know how to fry chicken. I've eaten at this place twice. Once as a DoorDash order and the other as a sit in. With the DoorDash order, I got tenders and bites with Mac and cheese and fries. The tenders were huge, a three piece would be a meal for the biggest of appetites. The Mac and cheese was not so great, cheese sauce flavor was weak but the pasta was cooked well. The chicken bites were a little tough, and the fried items all got steamed so they were not as crispy. To give them a fair try, I went to their location and ordered to dine in. Cashier was incredibly friendly and helpful. I got their signature sando along with fries and a cookie. Food came out quick and I dug in. One thing I can say for certain is that they know how to cook chicken. For the larger pieces, they always came out juicy and tender. The Sando was no exception, and it was a very good piece of chicken. The bread was toasted and buttered, which is a nice touch. The vinegar slaw was light and refreshing vs the heavy fried batter and buttered bread, and the pickles gave the salty crisp that the sandwich needed So long as you got a bite of everything, it was delicious. For the bites that you miss a pickle or don't have sauce, you definitely notice it missing. It's finely balanced on the ratios, but relies on them to give the perfect bite. That being typed, it is a delicious bite when you get it. So although it's not perfect for each bite, it's perfect enough to enjoy it when you do. The fries are better fresh out the frier, but are kinda generic. The "shake" seasoning gives them some flavor but the fries are too thin to give you the fluffy potato portion but are also oddly cut to prevent them from being too crispy. You need their "comeback" sauce to eat them, and I'd imagine most throw them away. My only other gripe is their heat. I like hot foods, but I like my heat to bring flavor with it. The heat here is just heat, combined with a paprika hit. I like a little sweet and earthy with my heat, but the only difference between medium and mild is the amount of cayenne you get. But these are all nitpicks. As a chicken sandwich place, it does a good job of balancing flavors and making the chicken the star of the show. Their sides are an afterthought, but the star of the show is very much the star. I give them a five with a caveat that you go only if you want fried chicken. It's the best in the area and very good overall.

The Bird Code Location in Vernon just opened 2 weeks ago. I ordered the medium heat chicken and it was too much for me to handle. I asked the manager if I could switch it for the country heat and he was so nice to let me do that. It's nice that the manager cares and did that cause I'd he didn't I wouldn't return. I would have tossed it as it was too hot of dry rub and didn't care for it. So when you order make sure you go w the heat you think you can handle. I would stick to the country heat. The chicken is very good and not greasy at all. I got the fries w my order along w their specialty sauce which was all very good and it comes w a drink of your choice. I would definitely go back and try the macaroni and cheese next time. I like it better than the Raising Cane. It's a cute place and very warm.

Fries way too salty to eat. Chicken was stringy and odd. Sadly this won't be a repeat option for our family.

They even have outdoor seating ( covered to allow shade) . The service is always great . Our server was very polite , attentive, asked about allergies , gave his suggestions , and constantly checked in on us to make sure we had everything . For started I got the firecracker shrimp , which had a sweet and tangy sauce which was delicious highly recommend ( I personally didn't think it was spicy but had great flavour ) For my entree I got the California chicken sandwich which was really good . Highly recommend and I got the side of truffle fries which had just the right amount of truffle ( since I personally don't like to much truffle ) Plenty of flavour . I also ordered the aperol spritz which was nice and light and refreshing . My friend ordered the filet which was cooked perfectly to what he wanted. Nice light seasoning with salt and pepper and juicy on the inside . Served with delicious mashed potatoes and green beans . The espresso martini he said was his second best he's ever tasted ! Which is a win . For dessert we. Tried the seven layer chocolate cake to go! Which heated up and with a scoop of ice cream was amazing very thick and rich in flavour which I loved. Overall good food , great service and great ambiance . I will def be back

Situated in The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk, Burtons Grill offers a bar, a spacious dining room, a seasonal patio, and a space suited for large groups. My friends wanted to take me out for my birthday and asked where I'd like to go. I chose this spot because I'd heard so many good things about it. Since the weather was pleasant in October, we decided to sit outside. For starters, we shared a rustic bread roll served with pesto, herb, and garlic butter, and olive tapenade. In my opinion, the olive tapenade really stole the show, giving the bread a bold flavor. The bread itself was soft, warm, and utterly delicious. We also tried the signature wings coated in maple sriracha and the Memphis dry rub wings. Although I couldn't distinctly taste the maple or sriracha, the wings were still packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. We also ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, which was rich with spinach, artichoke hearts, parmesan, tomato-jalapeño relish, and served with tortilla chips. It was genuinely tasty. For my main course, I went with the Steak Frites, featuring a charred flatiron steak served with béarnaise sauce and Parmesan-truffle fries. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The truffle fries were crispy and well-seasoned, and the truffle flavor really made them stand out. It was a simple yet satisfying dish. My friends chose the crispy fish sandwich, comprising fried haddock, pickled red onions, pickles, tartar sauce, all nestled in a brioche bun with a side of French fries. Another friend ordered the general Tso bowl, which included braised chicken glazed with general Tso sauce, along with charred broccoli, a rice-and-quinoa blend, julienned vegetables, toasted almonds, scallions, cilantro, sesame seeds, and ginger aioli. Both of them said their meals were fantastic. Our server was friendly, lively, and attentive throughout the meal. I definitely plan on returning to try more items from the menu.

One thing I love about J Rego's is the quality of their menu; meals are always unique and truly make J Rego's stand FAR apart from other food spots in this part of CT. Yes, they offer the very best of your favorite restaurant classics, but they also add high-end, high-quality options that you cannot find anywhere else in the area. They do weekly specials (check their Instagram or call!) that always blow my mind. I literally stalk their social media each week waiting for their new options! I like seafood and have heard good things. I ordered a crab cake appetizer and baked stuffed shrimp as my entree. The crab cake was lots of "cake" and very little crab. Crumbly and bland, the only decent part was the drizzle it was plated on. The shrimp was simply awful. The coleslaw could easily be something they picked up at the supermarket. The "side" of peas (likely frozen) in rice was the kind of thing that a kid would be served in a school cafeteria - and they wouldn't eat it either. A restaurant at this level should be ashamed to serve this flavorless concoction. The shrimp was overcooked (and rubbery); I still don't know what that slice of ? was on the second shrimp - the one with the lemon. The "stuffing" was a flavorless, soggy, bready mess. This was not what I would expect from any self respecting restaurant, let alone one that thinks it is justified in charging what they do. (I did get a taste of the eggplant side from my wife's plate and that was pretty good. That's the one star.)
