We decided to come try this cute little dessert shop out as the weather was really hot. We were craving for something cold and were hungry at the same time. Going inside, the shop is decorated with some seats and a very nicely decorated couch area by the window (perfect for photos). They give you a menu where you'd choose whatever seat you want, and once you decided on your choices, you go up to the cashier. We came around 4pm on Saturday which wasn't busy. Overall the food did not take too long to arrive (15 mins?) as the Bingsu is made on the spot. - Strawberry Oreo Bingsu ($9.95): wow, it was very creamy overall. The Oreo bits were generously all over, so every bite had a definite oreo taste to it. The strawberry ice cream was equally as tasty and creamy as well. I loved how they placed two mini Oreo cookies on it to make it look like Mickey. Everything went well together. -Mini Hot Pot ($8.95): Honestly, although it came with some seafood pieces, I really didn't think it was worth the price. In a nutshell: it was spicy instant noodles with a few pieces of seafood in a clay pot. It didn't taste bad, but really not worth it; maybe for the gram. Great spot if you're craving Korean shaved ice - aka bingsu! My favorite flavor would have to be either matcha or oreo cheesecake. The texture of their bingsu is light and fluffy with a slight hint of flavor but not too sweet. I also highly recommend the honey almond toast! It comes with a scoop each of matcha and black sesame ice cream. The contrast of the cold ice cream paired with the warm, crispy, and fluffy toast is amazing! I've been to Snow Time which is right across from here and I can't really choose a winner - both are pretty good and have their own pros and cons. Cute place for bingsu! Quite a bit of seating and great place to enjoy bingsu with friends. Matcha Cheese Jelly Bingsu (Recommended to anyone who LOVES matcha ice cream) -- The Matcha cheese jelly bingsu is matcha milk shaved ice topped with matcha ice cream and matcha cheese jelly. The shaved ice was very fluffy and melted as soon as it reached my mouth. At times it was hard to distinguish if I was eating the ice cream or the shaved ice because they tasted so similar - a mild matcha ice cream. The matcha cheese had the texture of tofu and tasted a bit like cream cheese and matcha. While I enjoyed the matcha cheese jelly bingsu, it was a bit one-dimensional for me and would have preferred some non-matcha toppings or a stronger matcha ice cream to add more complexity. A friend had recently suggested this place because it was "hot and new" but we ended up at another place nearby on that occasion. Mixing bubble tea places and expensive cars = me doing a 10 point turn. If you can take the drive, I would highly recommend stopping for a visit here. It's in the corner of the plaza and has really cute decor. You do seat yourself and after fighting some other people, me and my boyfriend got a nice cozy spot beside the ordering station. There's quite a bit of selection too, but I ultimately decided on the Oreo Cheesecake Bingsu. You order this at the front and they give you a high-tech device that will beep obnoxiously until you finally surrender it to the front in exchange for your delicious Bingsu. When we got it, thank goodness we bought only one to share. The portion is HUGE (please see attached). This was definitely enough for me and my boyfriend. What I like about this place is that even the shaved ice (by itself) is delicious. Some other Bingsu places would skimp on the toppings too, but not this place, not today! The price is also pretty reasonable, only $10, too. My Asian broke self was quite happy. All in all, highly recommend. I have been going to Dear & Fro since forever, and this is my first time going after COVID. One thing they do very well is making their shaved ice super fast. I got my shaved ice within 5 mins after ordering. They even gave me a big piece of parchment paper to prevent spilling so I could eat it outside. I think this place has gotten better every time I've come. Last night was my third visit over a period of time. I've noticed that each time there's been new items added to their menu or exclusive limited time only featured items going on... they keep you enticed! I came here with 2 other friends and we ordered 2 bingsoo's to share amongst the 3 of us. We ended up getting the Oreo cheesecake and the matcha bingsoo. First, the Oreo cheesecake was a larger size than most of the bowls... I'd say this one is meant for sharing. The bowl is split into half Oreo and half graham cracker crumbs. There's also syrups in them, mini oreo cookies on the sides, and a mousse-like cheesecake piece at the top. I like both Oreo and cheesecake, and thought it was a good combination. The matcha bingsoo we ordered was the one without red bean. It had a scoop of matcha ice cream at the top and foamy matcha cheese cubes around it. There were also some mochi pieces, which I felt was a little on the sparse side. They were both very well made and yummy but personally, I preferred the matcha over the Oreo cheesecake. The Oreo cheesecake got a little tiring for me after a while, while matcha, for me atleast, is a taste that never gets too repetitive. But you def have to be a matcha lover to enjoy it, because it is pretty overwhelmingly just matcha central. The environment here is really nice, with super aesthetic decor! It is a smaller seating space though so you may have trouble finding seats at busy periods. It is more of a help yourself style, where you order at the front and go up to get your tray when your buzzer goes off. They have a water station with cups by the front where you help yourself. My preference used to be for SnowTime but now I like them both equally. I've come to view them as less direct competitors now because they offer some different unique items and environments... different experiences! I've always liked this place because the vibe is nice, but last time after ordering 1 drink per person and settling down quietly with Monopoly Deal (a card game, not the elaborate regular Monopoly), we were informed that we cannot play board games in the cafe. There was no signage whatsoever anywhere that card games aren't allowed. Also, I asked if the taro steamed milk was sweet since I cannot control the sugar level, and the cashier assured me it was not that sweet. One of the best bingsu places I've ever been to! The fruits they use on their products are all fresh real fruits. Portions are big and worth the money. The staff at Dear & fro are so welcoming the moment you step inside. They take your order and you're free to sit anywhere you like. The drink was mediocre, the foam didn't have much taste to it. I literally came here because I love bingsu, the closest thing to the one in Taiwan I had. The consistency of the shaved ice was smooth and milky! With about a dozen flavours to choose from, I took the safe route and choose a Bingsu dessert covered in strawberries and blueberries. A creamy ice cream like centre , covered in frost like ice cream shavings and fresh fruit. It looked large, however the cream is so incredibly light I wanted to ask for a second. The restaurant was In a large popular plaza of Asian eateries and stores and tucked in the corner so I had trouble finding it. Parking was a bit chaotic but do not let that intimidate you. Got the mango Bingsoo! I really like the texture of the Bingsoo here. It has the texture of shaved chocolate, and tastes a lot more creamy and milky than other places. Although there is seating, this place requires you to order up front and then return to your seat with a buzzer. After a while they will ring your buzzer and you go up to the front to get your order. I got the Injeolmi Bingsu to share with my friend and although it looks small, there is quite a bit of shaved iced in the bowl. I did find that compared to my friend who also ordered an Injeolmi Bingsu it seemed like they got a bit more toppings but it's fine. Came here for the first time today and got their new summer item- the coconut grey bingsu! I was actually at Snow Time right across (used to love it there) only to be super disappointed, you can check my review on that. The total came to $13.50 for a pretty generous portion. The coconut grey comes with roasted toast, fresh mango, dried blueberries and coconut mochi and coconut sugar on the side. Definitely a very unique combination for a bingsu, love it! The only suggestion I have is making the toast bits smaller (maybe it's to keep the crunch factor though) or maybe even add some flavour in the toast. The toast is really bland after all. Anyways I really like the idea and they did a good job implementing it. Will be back to try their earl grey one next time! They also give u a stamp card- collect 8 for a free bingsu yessss haha. The stars are based foodwise. I've won an Instagram giveaway where I received 2 free bingsu. I ordered the Oreo bingsu and the Matcha cheese bingsu. It was my first time having a shaved ice dessert in Canada, and I definitely LOVED it. Foodwise: The shaved ice for both bingsus was perfectly shaved, so beautiful to the eyes and it literally melts in the mouth. People would usually think that it's too sweet just by looking at them, but the sugar level was on point. Although both were delicious, I found the matcha one a bit plain as everything was matcha (it was also my choice, so not their fault). The oreo bingsu had its top covered with crushed oreo cookies and something else that tasted a little peanuty. And on top of that was a piece of oreo cheesecake, surrounded by mini pieces of oreo. Personally, the Oreo bingsu is the winner of all bingsus at that place (although I only tried 2). On the downside is the price. An average bingsu is $9-$10, which I find a bit pricey. Also in the pictures the desserts look big, I thought that the size is sharable with a group of 3, 4 people, but when I saw it in person I was surprised that it's quite small (1 or 2 people). Delicious! Came here today and tried the Oreo Matcha Bingsu, Mochi Bingsu, and the Red Bean Sticky Rice Cake Toast. They were all well made and a fair portion for the price. The mochi was just chewy enough and paired well with the soybean powder and red bean. They gave a generous amount of Oreo crumbs for the Bingsu and topped it with a dollop of match ice cream. Visited this place after we won two bingsu desserts during their Christmas Contest on Instagram. Pretty little place in a horrible-parking wise plaza. I really love the inside of the store! Been here numerous times. I think it tastes better than snow time which is located in the same plaza. Creamy taste for the bingsu. I only really come for bingsu when they have promos because it's pretty pricey tbh. Full price is like 12$ plus tax and the portion is enough for only one person. Came here on a Monday night around 8pm, there were only 2 tables in the restaurant. You have to order at the cashier and pay before you choose your seats. The tables vary from couches to tables to high tops depending on how comfy you want to be. Once you have ordered from the cashier, they will give you a buzzer and when it goes off, that's when you go to the cashier to pick up your food. I came in to order oreo cheesecake bingsu for takeout. There was only 1 order they were working on when I ordered and only 2 staff working. The order ahead of me were just 4 takeout drinks and it took 15mins for them to finish that order before starting mine. It seems like they are working at a half asleep pace. Then, it took another at least 15mins to make mine, seriously? Are you shaving ice by hand? They placed the cheesecake separately from the bingsu which was great so it wouldn't squish it. However, when I opened the bingsu container, it was only 3/4 full. First assumption was that it melted so it sank, so I digged right to the bottom and there was no liquid, thus nothing much melted. So they SHORTED me with a 3/4 full portion. As I started eating the bingsu, it was tasteless, I get it, ice has no taste but there were minimal sauce and syrup on top which was eaten in 1 bite. The mochi and mini oreos tasted great, but how can you go wrote with store brought items. The cheesecake was like a rubber texture, like it was made with gelatin or something. Zero cheesecake flavor, very slight hint of oreo, and like jello. Totally not what I was expectin at all!! SUPER DISAPPOINTED! After waiting for 30mins, food was underwhelming and the price of this was $10.95!! Don't think I'll be going back ever again! read more

Was lucky enough to try this place a couple of times before putting up a review. In terms of Bingsu, this place is ideal to try it out. As for the different flavours and variations that they do have, they are also worth trying. I've tried the traditional, strawberry, earl grey, and coconut milk flavoured Bingsu's that they have to offer, and so far I have no complaints about any of them. I would recommend this place to other people, and with regards to the overall setting and ambience this place has, you can expect a nice place for posting up photos on social media, and the music has its own quirky appeal to it too. I'm only giving it a 4/5 because every time I've visited, the tables were a bit sticky and the entrance kind of smelled funky; but looking past that it is definitely worth going to! read more
