The spot has that old-school Chinese takeout vibe: simple, clean, and focused on flavor, not flash. --- What I Ordered: General Tso's Chicken Shrimp Lo Mein Crab Rangoons Egg Roll Steamed Dumplings --- General Tso's Chicken: Sweet, spicy, and crispy - exactly how it should be. The sauce had a good kick without overpowering the flavor. Chicken was tender inside with that golden crunch. Easily one of the best in the area. Shrimp Lo Mein: Noodles were cooked just right - not too greasy, not too dry. Shrimp was fresh and had good bite. Could use a little more garlic or soy for depth, but still solid. Crab Rangoons: Creamy, crunchy, and packed with flavor. These were a hit. You get that satisfying crunch with the creamy crab filling - not overly sweet like some spots do. Steamed Dumplings: Soft and juicy with a flavorful pork filling. Dipping sauce was on point. Not doughy, just right. Egg Roll: Golden and crispy with a nice balance of cabbage and pork inside. Great with the duck sauce. --- Pros: Big portions, great value Fast service Hits all the nostalgic Chinese takeout cravings Clean and well-packaged Cons: Lo mein could use a little more flavor Limited seating (best for takeout) --- Final Verdict (8.9/10): New Number One Chinese Restaurant is bringing the heat. Classic Chinese-American dishes done right. If you're craving comfort food that hits every time, this place delivers - literally and figuratively. Perfect for a late-night boss fight meal or chilling after a long grind. Let me know what YOU always order from your local Chinese spot - and drop your suggestions for the next food battle

There were fairy lights, small lamps, and quiet instrumental music playing in the background. It sounded very similar to the soundtrack of Hyrule Field in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The food was tasty and very authentic! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about celiac disease and cross contamination. Everything on their menu is clearly marked if it's spicy and/or can be made gluten free, too! They have a big selection, and if my family's meals were anything to go by, everything is great. If I lived anywhere close to here, I would be a regular. Here are pictures of some (not all) of their menu pages.

So! Out of everything i ordered (see pics) I didn't try the soup dumpling but my kiddo (who are the whole steamer) said it was good. Everything was hot and delicious and taste like NYC dim sum (iykyk) except -the turnip cake (too oily and mushy) - fried dough noodle (too much wrapping, dough not fresh and crispy enough) - egg tarts (new and only available on weekends according to their menu - I am a BIG egg tarts fan and unfortunately these were disappointing: crust was fine but filling was baked eggs and not the classic flan-like type of an egg tarts). 3-4 other families came in for dim sum, it was more lively and they turned on low classical music so lovelier ambiance than when we first walked in. Wait staff was very friendly and polite. Only negative thing were the sticky plastic spoons they gave to share the congee bowl. After recovering from a recent stomach bug I have to be super critical of dining utensils so gotta ding a star off for that. Prices were more expensive than normal for dim sum but we were expected that - just glad they didn't decrease the quantity like some places! All in all, we would come back again for dim sum :)

If you're someone who knows what dim sum is and you know about flavor, then this place's flavor is missing something. Everything tastes a little bland. I think if they added chicken bouillion or even hon dashi to make it more umami, they may do better. Things have salt but not adequate flavor. We've ordered almost everything on their menu to try to give them a chance but each time we just get oily, bland dishes. I wouldnt come here again unless someone really wants the experience. Youre probably better off attempting these dishes at home- perhaps this restaurant could also redo some of their dishes themselves to improve the flavor profile here. Service is your typical Chinese dim sum. Someone comes and pretty much tosses a menu in a no nonsense tone and then comes back once you wave them down. inside has a homey chinese feel. They remade my correct order, but never offered a refund or even discount to make up for their mistake and the fact that I hade to drive back there from my office after discovering I had the wrong meal. Today I got my usual order (stir fried rice noodles with pork and veggies) and drove back to my office. I got a few bites in and found a fly in my meal. I had to pack it back up, leave the office, and drive back to the restaurant. I showed them the fly, and they were apologetic, but only offered to remake my meal OR give me a refund. Given that I was very hungry and didn't have much of my lunch hour left, I told them to remake it. I dis tell them that I felt they should give me a refund and remake the meal, but they said that they could not do that. I had to sit and wait for them to make me new food, and the only other thing they were willing to do for me was give me an iced coffee (which, for the record, was disgusting). I don't know that I will be going back, which is unfortunate because it is one of my preferred lunch spots. The customer service is just horrible.

Now, when I was going to RIT (back in the day), I remember this being a Might Taco... but I'm quite delighted to see it as an OG Dumpling House location too! (Though it's probably a good thing that it wasn't a dumpling house when I was in college, because those freshman 15 would have been aaaaaaaaaall because of the soup dumplings.) You can order takeout or sit in the restaurant. Our getting offered a table when we first got there was a bit discombobulated, but we were asked after a few minutes if we wanted to sit or takeout and we confirmed we wanted to eat in the restaurant. After another minute or two, we were given our table. Because of the time waiting for our table, we had already decided on what we wanted to eat and drink... so we were able to order pretty quickly. We ordered the xiao long bao, of course, as well as steamed pork bao, and then fried green beans, fried calamari, and shumai to share. The items came out quickly enough... but as we were making our way through the plates, I was a bit surprised that our server wasn't also taking away plates that we'd finished. In most dim sum-type restaurants I've visited, it's common for the server to take finished plates away throughout the service to ensure you have room on the table for anything else that might be coming out. Since the tables in this location are perhaps a bit on the smaller side, we soon found ourselves running out of enough space to really spread out the plates to share. The soup dumplings are good... though they perhaps didn't have broth that was quite as flavorful as I'd been hoping for. I'm glad we visited, as OG Dumpling House has been on my list to try for quite a while. Now that the craving is appeased though, I'll be happy to try another one of Rochester's Chinese or dim sum-style restaurant locations.
