A takeout joint, in the Winton Village neighborhood. A large menu, and all my favorites were represented. The service was quick, and the server was pleasant. The portions are large and a great value. The food was pretty good. There are two small tables, but 95% of the business, or maybe even more if possible, is takeout. Pretty decent Chinese American food, and a good value. read more

The food was totally tasteless and the batter on the lemon chicken was raw on the inside. Completely inedible...I had to throw the whole meal away. The lady was nice though. I really wanted to like it. read more

I would probably visit again. The food was amazing but the owner's husband said a swear word in front of my son.

Enjoyed some lunch delivery from China Garden last week! The delivery is directly through the restaurant, though you can order right on GrubHub. Delivery came at the exact time it said it would, which was amazing and such a pleasant surprise. We went with the chicken cashew, wonton soup, fried dumplings, and spring rolls. Everything was hot upon arrival and there were some big wins and some major misses. Overall the cashew chicken was a bit of a miss for me. I loved the veggies included but the chicken was less than choice and the sauce not my favorite. I went with fried rice to go along with the cashew chicken and would recommend going plain white rice in the future. The dumplings were yummy, classic takeout chinese fried dumplings, and the spring rolls were a-okay. I wish the filled was a bit more chopped than stringy, if that makes sense. Wonton soup was lacking that MSG goodness and the wontons themselves were SO thick. I would likely order from here again given the convenience, friendly service, and overall a-okayness of the good options. Delivery came with fried wonton noodles. Enjoy! read more

The food ia always amazing. It's delivered fast. My only issue with them is they are closed on Tuesdays lol

This place got five stars for what it is decent cheap Chinese food. If you are offended by a restaurant that has faded signs and tape on the counter, it is probably not the place for you Karen. If you want decent American Chinese food really fast, eat here. If you want Michelin Star food maybe go someplace else, always basic b's giving people bad reviews...Hey Becky, it's a take out Chinese business wtf are talking about, go back to the suburbs with your gentrified expectations...My only complaint is, I wish they had more vegetarian options for my whiny a$$ partner so I can eat here more. read more

First visit. Generous portions. Nice flavor. Weren't very friendly . Not sure if it's because of Covid read more

The Szechuan chicken was below average. Not flavorful; kinda bland. Ingredients were low tier. A lot more small bits of chicken than actual white meat chunks. The broccoli was more stem than floret. I know cheap takeout isn't meant to be amazing, but even by those standards I've seen much better quality from other similarly-priced restaurants in the area. Also they didn't mix the flour very well into the sauce, so I got a couple odd floury bites. This is the only dish I've tried from this place, so I don't know if they were just having a bad day or the cook was inexperienced or both. If the flavor was at least decent I might overlook the ingredient-quality issues and give them another chance, but probably the blandness is due to their recipe and it isn't going to be better next time. I'd recommend Chang Lung instead -- same prices but massively better. read more

Horrible Chinese food and did not appear clean. I will never go back though I wished I liked it as it is in my neighborhood. read more

China Garden Kitchen - Hot and sour soup - Chinese Near Me - Rochester, New York

This is my favorite Chinese takeout spot. The menu is diverse enough to appease my picky teenage eaters. The staff treats me like an old friend every time I'm in there. Favorites include the lo mein and General Tso tofu. read more

Terrible. The old restaurant was my favorite place for Chinese take out and it breaks my heart that with the new owners the food quality has gotten so much worse. The steamed dumplings were so good before and now they look like look sickly and taste just plain bad. The teriyaki steak has wonderful flavor and is now overdone and bland. To make matters worse after showing up at the time I was told it would be ready I still had to stand around waiting for 15 minutes, which is way too long when you're on your lunch break. Rest in Peace China Garden. I'll miss the wonderful family owned restaurant that I loved so much. read more

Ordered take out. Chicken lo mein and dumplings. The driver smoked and the delivery, as a result, reeked of cigarettes. The dumplings tasted ok, but some were too soggy and fell apart. The lomein smelled like burned or stale oil, completely inedible. Very disappointing. And now I'm waiting for the smell of cigarettes and old cooking oil to get out of my apartment. read more

Had China Garden for my first time. I've been told by many people that's it's very good and I would agree. I went simple and had the sesame chicken combo with fried rice and an egg roll. Everything was very good. I don't know all of the details, but apparently if you order a certain amount of food, they give you something free. They gave us egg drop soup. I didn't try it. My friends said they don't care for it. My friends mentioned something about fried donuts that they love and have gotten for free. read more

So much food my to go containers were overflowing! Friendly cashier and hot food. Food was ready on time for my pick up order

I love this place. It's a pretty standard Chinese restaurant so don't expect anything spectacular, but I have to say that I find myself craving their chicken mei fun quite a bit. It's like $8 for a huge portion of food, it always lasts me for two meals. I usually order pick up since I live close by and the food is always ready really fast, within 10-15 minutes of ordering. Overall this is a great and reliable place to grab food when my cravings hit. read more

My go to Chinese food. The prices are cheaper than most and the food has always been good. They are fast too, don't have to wait long to get your food. Interior is a little sketch, but that's all part of the charm. read more

Really disappointed. Menu description of Dragon and Phoenix dish sounded so good. It was supposed to be half General Tso's chicken and half shrimp. It had a ton of vegetables and chicken. it literally had THREE pieces of shrimp. I payed extra for that? The food was piping hot. The egg roll was tasty. They have taken extroidinary measures in store to protect customers from COVID. read more

This is my closest Chinese restaurant, and they deliver. But honestly I feel their food is sub-par. It's usually greasy and lacking in depth of flavor. However they do have a few items I occasionally order when in a hurry. Mainly their steam rice and their pork dumplings. The owners are very nice people and the service have never been bad, although often hurried. I prefer other places for Chinese takeout, but they seem to have a lot of customers and a lot of regulars, so good for them! read more

This place is top for chinese food in Rochester. Extremely reasonable pricing, and also absolutely delicious. I have, quite literally, tried every single chinese food place within the city limits of Rochester, Brighton, Penfield, and East Rochester. Chef King is excellent, but China Garden is my go-to. The fried dumplings here are doughy, and that reminds me of what you get in New York City. It's not the same kind of frozen looking dumpling you can buy at Wegmans, but a doughy, handmade, perfectly sized chinese dumpling. It's full of flavor and comes with the standard garlicky dipping sauce that everybody knows and loves. My favorite part about China Garden, though, is that they'll cook whatever you want. I've thrown them a ton of modifications to my order, depending on what I was in the mood for, and they always cooked a custom dish. Try getting the chicken and broccoli, add baby corn, and have it tossed in a spicy szechuan sauce. It's not on the menu, but trust me. I've turned a few people on to this place through this dish, and the truth is that everything here is very, very good. It's a total hole in the wall and is made for take-out, but it's worth it every single time. I won't eat anywhere else for Chinese in this city. read more

Always a good lunch. Great selection and good service on pickup timing. Easy to get to or for delivery service.

My go-to place for China Food. Eddie Lacy would love it. General Tso's is quite delish.

Good basic Chinese takeout. Fast service, easy online ordering and affordable. The location is what makes this a great takeout option for us. $23 for 2 egg rolls, fries dumplings, crab Rangoon and a qt of beef lomein. read more

Good Chinese food. Run by two sisters, Angel and Cindy, who are so nice and always friendly. Fast, good and reliable.

I struggle to find a good Chinese place in Rochester. The chicken is usually chewy and has a weird texture. I tried this place for the first time today and asked them to make it extra crispy. It turned out perfect! Not soggy and great flavor! I will be returning. Ordered gen tso chicken read more

The Won-ton soup was great; lots of noodles, the egg roll was good. Typical. The chicken and vegetables were okay. I ordered on a Monday when my usual place was closed. I won't be going back to China Garden Kitchen. They weren't as good as a few other places I like. They were friendly and extremely careful about handling money and food. Wear your mask in there! read more

my girlfriend and I went here for lunch, the inside of the restaurant was one of the most disgusting looking restaurants iv seen. we ordered the Chicken Lo Mein and the Sesame Chicken. The Chicken was overcooked and extra crunchy, and the Lo Mein was bland tasting. We will most likely not be going here again. The inside of the establishment was just to traumatizing. read more

My husband and I love this place. It is our neighborhood spot and we get takeout pretty often. We used to order the same thing to the point where the woman that works there jokingly yelled at my husband when he came to pick up our food because we didn't order our normal Wonton Soup. Needless to say, he came home with Wonton Soup. All the food is really good. I eat Pork & Broccoli with sauce on the side and the pork is exceptional. Not that weird shriveled stuff you get elsewhere. They offer online ordering which is so quick and easy. The food is ready in no time and everything exactly as we ordered. I just wish Scallion Pancakes was available to order online. read more

This is my go-to Chinese place! Good food, good prices, and fast delivery! I order from here probably once a week

Ordered chicken lo mein after a 13 hour work day, girlfriend went to pick up dinner while I showered. What I received was shredded chicken boiled with onions, celery, and a leafy green with a side of those fried noodles you can buy in a plastic bag. Refused to refund or exchanged and were adamant that the boiled chicken I received was lo mein. I used to go in for lunch 2-3/month when my previous employer was nearby, but I will never return. The crab rangoon and my girlfriends' sesame tofu were flavorless, and the rice was congealed and room temperature (3 minute drive from restaurant to house). But the fried noodles were adequate and the beef in stock was good. So if you want fried noodles and beef on stick feel free to swing by, you probably won't be that disappointed. read more

I ordered delivery and it was fantastic. Everything was delivered hot, even though it took longer than most other Chinese delivery restaurants. There was even crab in the Crab Rangoon! China Garden Kitchen is now my go-to place for ordering take-out. read more

Awesome delivery service. A forgotten item was delivered 10 minutes later in a snowstorm. Awesome food too!

My favorite Chinese take out spot. Their egg rolls are the best in town! They have excellent fried dumplings, the dipping sauce is fantastic! I've tried so much from here and I think I may have only been unsatisfied once or twice just by trying something out of my comfort zone. Great lunch specials and pricing! read more

I placed an order last night 1/26/2018. The business is always friendly. Delivery is reasonably quick. However, this morning while I was throwing away the menu that always comes with the order, I noticed that my debit card number and expiration date was written on the top left of the menu!!! Seriously!!! I immediately checked my account and thankfully it was in good standing. However, this is a TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE. I hope this was a one off but who knows as I rarely pay attention to the menu. Because of this, I will NEVER order from this business again. What a violation and risk!!! read more

China Garden Kitchen is what I call "Greasy Spoon" Chinese: Americanized Chinese food that while not 100% authentic (ie no braised tendon or diakon salad), it still tasty. I've tried a variety of items from the menu and they are always consistently yummy. My favorites are the shrimp lo mien, egg roll, and fried chicken wings. Service is quick and the owners are also very friendly. Bottom line: China Garden Kitchen is a great place to grab Chinese if you're in the Winton/Browncroft area! read more

The food actually exceeded my expectations (which admittedly were pretty low initially). I ordered the mixed vegetables with tofu to go. It came with fried tofu, and while I was hoping for fresh tofu, the flavor was pretty good. The ratio of tofu to vegetables was a little high, but the sauce was pretty tasty. I would have liked a little more sauce just to coat all of the tofu and veggies, but I much prefer too little sauce instead of too much sauce. The tofu was fried a little too long, though, and was a little dry inside. Service was decent albeit hurried, owners were very nice and prompt to get our order to us. I would've given this place a solid 3 or maybe even 3.5, but then I found a hair in my tofu, so... read more
