My boyfriend mentioned in recent conversation that he'd never had soup dumplings before... so we opted to stop here one day when we were out and about running errands. Now, when I was going to RIT (back in the day), I remember this being a Might Taco... but I'm quite delighted to see it as an OG Dumpling House location too! (Though it's probably a good thing that it wasn't a dumpling house when I was in college, because those freshman 15 would have been aaaaaaaaaall because of the soup dumplings.) You can order takeout or sit in the restaurant. Our getting offered a table when we first got there was a bit discombobulated, but we were asked after a few minutes if we wanted to sit or takeout and we confirmed we wanted to eat in the restaurant. After another minute or two, we were given our table. Because of the time waiting for our table, we had already decided on what we wanted to eat and drink... so we were able to order pretty quickly. We ordered the xiao long bao, of course, as well as steamed pork bao, and then fried green beans, fried calamari, and shumai to share. The items came out quickly enough... but as we were making our way through the plates, I was a bit surprised that our server wasn't also taking away plates that we'd finished. In most dim sum-type restaurants I've visited, it's common for the server to take finished plates away throughout the service to ensure you have room on the table for anything else that might be coming out. Since the tables in this location are perhaps a bit on the smaller side, we soon found ourselves running out of enough space to really spread out the plates to share. The soup dumplings are good... though they perhaps didn't have broth that was quite as flavorful as I'd been hoping for. I'm glad we visited, as OG Dumpling House has been on my list to try for quite a while. OG Dumpling House is a fun place to share a variety of dumplings and other Asian appetizers and dishes. While visiting on a cool night, the Dan Dan Noodles sounded really appealing to me, and they did not disappoint! The bowl was a large portion with a good amount of noodles and tender, juicy ground pork. The broth was hot and spicy, but also flavorful...the heat was not too overpowering for me. I was very happy with my meal, but also happy to taste some other items we got to share. Edamame always seems like a good way to start a meal...these were overly salted for my liking. The scallion pancake was okay...a little small with just four thin pieces. More successful were the namesake dumplings. I really liked their versions of Xaio Long Bao - both the original pork and shrimp varieties contained delicious broth and fillings. We also shared the pork and chive dumplings, beef dumplings, and pork and corn dumplings...and we would order all of them again! The orange chicken was also an enjoyable dish to share, and good way to add some variety to the plethora of dumplings. I'm sure they get a lot of young customers from RIT and UofR, and the music catered more to this audience - it was a bit loud for my preference. Restaurant is bright and loud pop music and heavy bass and I feel like it's a bit too much. They do scan QR code to view menu. I got Lan Zhou noodle and Tso chicken. The noodles broth was good, not too spicy. They gave too much noodles (in my opinion). The Tso chicken was pretty good, not the best I ever had but it's on top of the list. I would give them 4 stars if I did not find "non-food" item in my mouth after the first bite of the chicken. It was a piece of stainless steel scrubber. The food was excellent and exactly what we both needed after hiking around High Falls. I'm sorry to say that this was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had. Before ordering, we specifically confirmed that the restaurant could accommodate our dietary restrictions. Despite that, we were served a pad Thai that contained fish sauce. To make matters worse, the meal had a rancid smell and was completely inedible. Another member of our party ordered General Tso's chicken, which never arrived. Everyone who received edible food finished their meals, yet during that entire time, our server never came back to check on us. Meanwhile, three tables that were seated well after us received similar chicken dishes. At that point, it became apparent that our server had simply forgotten to place the General Tso's chicken order. We had to flag down multiple employees ourselves to address both the rancid pad Thai and the missing entrée because our server never returned to our table. When we finally spoke with the manager, he offered to remove the cost of the two affected meals, but that was the extent of what he was willing to do. We explained that the situation had essentially ruined our dining experience, as only some members of our party were able to eat while the other two had to make separate arrangements to find food at another restaurant. Despite this, the manager refused to do anything further and offered only a 10% discount. Given the poor handling of the situation from beginning to end--from failing to accommodate the dietary restrictions we specifically discussed, to serving an inedible meal, forgetting an entire entrée, and failing to check on our table--we were extremely disappointed with both the food and the level of service. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this restaurant, and based on our experience, we cannot recommend it to others. read more

We were in town for a trip to the Eastman Kodak Museum. I had heard of this place and it had good reviews so we went for a late lunch. It was clean and spacious inside and the employee at the counter told us to sit anywhere in the middle section. They brought over water and gave us time to look over the menu. We had pork and chive dumplings - pan fried, soup dumplings with pork, crab and shrimp -( xiao long nap) , Steamed Bacon with BBQ pork and Pork Belly Buns. All the food came out fresh and hot. They don't wait until your entire order is ready - they bring each dish as it finished cooking! It is a great system for this kind of food. I enjoyed everything, the pork belly was tender and full of flavor - the BBQ pork bun was delicious ,soft and fluffy with chopped BBQ pork inside. The pork and chive dumplings were nicely fried and had a good amount of filling. While the soup dumplings were nice..I didn't really care for the combination of the filling. We primarily get various dumplings, shumai and pork fried rice. The soup dumplings are okay, however, the ginger dipping sauce it comes with is wonderful. The handmade dumplings are good. I'm biased when it comes to the steamed bao buns because my mom's is the best, but we did try the pork buns once. Things can add up just like dimsum and our family of 5 can get up to $70+ if we're super hungry. I wouldn't even call them egg custard buns because you open it and it looks like neon yellow gelatin inside. We only took the remaining three buns with us because my 20mo daughter likes the bun part so I plan to remove the "custard" and just let her eat the bun. The peanut noodles were actually really delicious. We didn't prefer the included lime with it so would advise to try some with and without the lime. The lo mein was real good. Our daughter at a lot of it. I would definitely order it again. The bbq pork bun was not bad but nothing special. The har gow/shrimp dumplings were fine but also nothing special. The noodles had a great texture and we got lots of pork. I haven't had a dish like this before with an option for Flat Rice Noodles so I was really happy about that, it's great for people with gluten allergies. On top of the great food, the service here was incredibly fast. We waited less than five minutes for our noodles, which was quite shocking considering how fresh the dish tasted.
