Coming back to this place after a long absence..food is still amazing! Great shareable plates and every dish is delicious.

Went in excited for dim sum and left seriously disappointed. The sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf was shockingly small -- maybe 1/3 the size of what you get at Canton House -- and nowhere near as fresh or flavorful. The portions felt chinsey, cheap, and unsatisfying for the price. I really wanted to love it, but unfortunately won't be rushing back.

Great place overall! Great atmosphere! Great food! Reservations are iffy. Parking is iffy. Make if you use the pay lot you pay for EXTRA TIME BC YOU WILL GET TOWED and fast! Anyway, I highly recommend you celebrate Chinese new year here with their special menu. Yum yum

I went for lunch. The place has an unassuming facade, yet inside it has a very pleasant decor and a Golden Throne, worthy of an Emperor/Empress. I chose the special lunch L16- Shredded Pork w/ Peppers & Spring Roll, Rice; Shu Mai Dumplings; Jasmine Tea Bubble. The pork dish was very tasty. I devoured it pretty quickly. The Spring Roll (vegetable) crispy came w/ a sweet & sour sauce. Good The dumplings came last; 4 small shrimp dumplings. They were full of shrimp, w/a dipping Soy Sauce. The Jasmine Milk Tea needed more ice, refreshing. I took it home and placed it in the freezer for 1/2 hours. Perfect. Service was attentive. I will be back.

Enjoyed my first experience at Szechuan celebrating the lunar new year with some fellow yelpers. Huge shout out to Jenny R for planning everything!! We sat in a super cute booth that fit us six perfectly, so private and cozy. They offered a special menu, we ordered six items from that and a few regular items. Special menu: Stir fried twin lobster with ginger and scallions Oil and shallot steamed abalone Dungeness crab in Szechuan style Steamed sea bass Braised sea cucumber with scallions Steamed garlic shrimp w vermicelli Reg menu: Wontons in spicy chili sauce Duck with veggies Dried sautéed string beans We shared all plates, family style Tried some new items I would normally not order, the duck and wontons were ridiculously amazing! We all ate like queens and I had the best time with these girls!

I ordered take-out, so I don't know what the inside/atmosphere of the restaurant was like. I got the Seafood Dry Pot. It had scallops, squid, fish, and 'jumbo' shrimp in it (which was honestly more medium-sized than jumbo) with lots of vegetables and peppers. My food came hot and my request for wood-ear mushrooms and no deep-fry was honored, so I think that the service is very nice.

Best spot for some authentic Chinese food! They have an extensive menu with tons of styles, ranging from classic Szechuan to Chinese-American dishes, and the spice levels of some dishes are amazing for spice lovers! I've been here multiple times and always look forward to trying new dishes. Some of my favorites are the crispy chicken and cumin lamb. The restaurant is in a plaza on park ave and provides 2 hours of free parking when you check in. Service is nice and friendly, although they can get pretty busy dealing with takeout orders as well. The decor and overall vibe of this place is upscale and authentic.

Bottom line, I'll be back every time I visit Rochester.

Now, when I was going to RIT (back in the day), I remember this being a Might Taco... but I'm quite delighted to see it as an OG Dumpling House location too! (Though it's probably a good thing that it wasn't a dumpling house when I was in college, because those freshman 15 would have been aaaaaaaaaall because of the soup dumplings.) You can order takeout or sit in the restaurant. Our getting offered a table when we first got there was a bit discombobulated, but we were asked after a few minutes if we wanted to sit or takeout and we confirmed we wanted to eat in the restaurant. After another minute or two, we were given our table. Because of the time waiting for our table, we had already decided on what we wanted to eat and drink... so we were able to order pretty quickly. We ordered the xiao long bao, of course, as well as steamed pork bao, and then fried green beans, fried calamari, and shumai to share. The items came out quickly enough... but as we were making our way through the plates, I was a bit surprised that our server wasn't also taking away plates that we'd finished. In most dim sum-type restaurants I've visited, it's common for the server to take finished plates away throughout the service to ensure you have room on the table for anything else that might be coming out. Since the tables in this location are perhaps a bit on the smaller side, we soon found ourselves running out of enough space to really spread out the plates to share. The soup dumplings are good... though they perhaps didn't have broth that was quite as flavorful as I'd been hoping for. I'm glad we visited, as OG Dumpling House has been on my list to try for quite a while. Now that the craving is appeased though, I'll be happy to try another one of Rochester's Chinese or dim sum-style restaurant locations.

Chopsticks had included a fork, napkins and the small packets of sauces without being asked. When I arrived at my hotel room and opened the weighted take-out bag, I was surprised to see a large bowl instead of the usual cardboard box for my Szechuan chicken. The accompanying rice was in a box though. The Szechuan chicken was super-hot in temperature and extra spicy as ordered. Normally, when you ask for extra spicy the restaurants are fearful to actually make it so. Maybe it was the double extra, extra that clued them in. But it normally does not work for others. The Szechuan chicken had a lot of vegetables (green/red peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, baby corn cobs) that make me feel better about eating Chinese food. The vegetables were not only abundant but fresh looking and cooked thoroughly. There was also plenty of white strips of chicken to enjoy with all those vegetables. My only negative was that for it to be that piping hot, it had to be microwaved. Not sure if it was done in a wok earlier and then reheated, but that is my assumption. I am in search of good egg rolls. I travel frequently and like to try different Chinese restaurants in different cities across the U.S. Good egg rolls are very difficult to find. They are either too greasy, insufficient filling, or just lacking flavor. These were not greasy at all. So not greasy I found myself wondering if they used a convection oven/ air fry oven. A+ for that, but C grade for the filling. The filling did not have much flavor overall and with the shell being dry, the filling needed moisture. Oh well, the search continues. They do have seating for around 50 people and it appeared clean from my brief exposure to the restaurant. The woman at the counter was friendly and spoke perfect English. The price for the food was fine, not too expensive and not cheap. I would return to Chopsticks to try out other items next time I am in Rochester.
