    Dinner Special D29

A few different people had recommended this joint to me, so I finally had to check it out for myself. Upon walking in, this tiny little spot was PACKED with people waiting for their food. Usually a good sign. The counter was barricaded, which was amusing and confusing. Glad they're staying safe. I loved that this Chinese place is different than others, in that you can get two meals instead of one as one of the "dinner specials." I opted for the sesame chicken + general tso chicken + veggie Lo mein. I had to wait 45 minutes for the food. The portions are much smaller than other chinese joints. Additionally, there was minimal to no taste to any of the 3 food groups I selected. The sesame chicken was okay, but the G-Tso chicken was BLAND with no kick at all. The veggie lo mein was subpar. Don't know if it was an off night for them or not, since my friends raved about them. Not sure if I'll be back since there's a lot of other Chinese options in my area.

I'm not a big Chinese food person. I probably order it once a year, if that. This was the first place in a long time that the chicken didn't creep me out (i'm really weird with my chicken =o) The lo mein was really good as so was the pork fried rice. The beef and broccoli had a nice balanced sauce on it and the broccoli was perfectly cooked. We got 2 bags of wonton strips and they come with a homemade duck sauce that was delicious. I dipped my spring rolls in the duck sauce as well. The bag and homemade duck sauce is only one dollar! The spring rolls are a dollar something and they were decent although I prefer my spring rolls with a tasty fish sauce, but I think that's when I get Vietnamese spring rolls. My boyfriend really enjoyed his meal and has made this his go to place now when we having a craving for this type of food. Glad we tried it and we will be back

I had high expectations because of many reviews. The meat was inedible and the egg rolls were horrible.

The best Chinese food in the area. I wasn't a huge fan of their steamed dumplings but everything else was SUPER yummy!

Chopsticks had included a fork, napkins and the small packets of sauces without being asked. When I arrived at my hotel room and opened the weighted take-out bag, I was surprised to see a large bowl instead of the usual cardboard box for my Szechuan chicken. The accompanying rice was in a box though. The Szechuan chicken was super-hot in temperature and extra spicy as ordered. Normally, when you ask for extra spicy the restaurants are fearful to actually make it so. Maybe it was the double extra, extra that clued them in. But it normally does not work for others. The Szechuan chicken had a lot of vegetables (green/red peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, baby corn cobs) that make me feel better about eating Chinese food. The vegetables were not only abundant but fresh looking and cooked thoroughly. There was also plenty of white strips of chicken to enjoy with all those vegetables. My only negative was that for it to be that piping hot, it had to be microwaved. Not sure if it was done in a wok earlier and then reheated, but that is my assumption. I am in search of good egg rolls. I travel frequently and like to try different Chinese restaurants in different cities across the U.S. Good egg rolls are very difficult to find. They are either too greasy, insufficient filling, or just lacking flavor. These were not greasy at all. So not greasy I found myself wondering if they used a convection oven/ air fry oven. A+ for that, but C grade for the filling. The filling did not have much flavor overall and with the shell being dry, the filling needed moisture. Oh well, the search continues. They do have seating for around 50 people and it appeared clean from my brief exposure to the restaurant. The woman at the counter was friendly and spoke perfect English. The price for the food was fine, not too expensive and not cheap. I would return to Chopsticks to try out other items next time I am in Rochester.

I usually order beef chow mein and Singapore noodles, they have duck meat to order too, basically any dishes on the menu is good. I would recommend anyone who want to have Chinese food for lunch and dinner.

The cherry tomatoes were a nice touch. The service is attentive and the food is served quickly. I may move to Rochester because of this place. It's that good. Now, when I was going to RIT (back in the day), I remember this being a Might Taco... but I'm quite delighted to see it as an OG Dumpling House location too! (Though it's probably a good thing that it wasn't a dumpling house when I was in college, because those freshman 15 would have been aaaaaaaaaall because of the soup dumplings.) You can order takeout or sit in the restaurant. Our getting offered a table when we first got there was a bit discombobulated, but we were asked after a few minutes if we wanted to sit or takeout and we confirmed we wanted to eat in the restaurant. After another minute or two, we were given our table. Because of the time waiting for our table, we had already decided on what we wanted to eat and drink... so we were able to order pretty quickly. We ordered the xiao long bao, of course, as well as steamed pork bao, and then fried green beans, fried calamari, and shumai to share. The items came out quickly enough... but as we were making our way through the plates, I was a bit surprised that our server wasn't also taking away plates that we'd finished. In most dim sum-type restaurants I've visited, it's common for the server to take finished plates away throughout the service to ensure you have room on the table for anything else that might be coming out. Since the tables in this location are perhaps a bit on the smaller side, we soon found ourselves running out of enough space to really spread out the plates to share. The soup dumplings are good... though they perhaps didn't have broth that was quite as flavorful as I'd been hoping for. I'm glad we visited, as OG Dumpling House has been on my list to try for quite a while. Now that the craving is appeased though, I'll be happy to try another one of Rochester's Chinese or dim sum-style restaurant locations.
