Dinner Special D29
Andrew A.

A few different people had recommended this joint to me, so I finally had to check it out for myself. Upon walking in, this tiny little spot was PACKED with people waiting for their food. Usually a good sign. The counter was barricaded, which was amusing and confusing. Glad they're staying safe. I loved that this Chinese place is different than others, in that you can get two meals instead of one as one of the "dinner specials." I opted for the sesame chicken + general tso chicken + veggie Lo mein. I had to wait 45 minutes for the food. The portions are much smaller than other chinese joints. Additionally, there was minimal to no taste to any of the 3 food groups I selected. The sesame chicken was okay, but the G-Tso chicken was BLAND with no kick at all. The veggie lo mein was subpar. Don't know if it was an off night for them or not, since my friends raved about them. Not sure if I'll be back since there's a lot of other Chinese options in my area.

I'm not a big Chinese food person. I probably order it once a year, if that. This was the first place in a long time that the chicken didn't creep me out (i'm really weird with my chicken =o) The lo mein was really good as so was the pork fried rice. The beef and broccoli had a nice balanced sauce on it and the broccoli was perfectly cooked. We got 2 bags of wonton strips and they come with a homemade duck sauce that was delicious. I dipped my spring rolls in the duck sauce as well. The bag and homemade duck sauce is only one dollar! The spring rolls are a dollar something and they were decent although I prefer my spring rolls with a tasty fish sauce, but I think that's when I get Vietnamese spring rolls. My boyfriend really enjoyed his meal and has made this his go to place now when we having a craving for this type of food. Glad we tried it and we will be back

I had high expectations because of many reviews. The meat was inedible and the egg rolls were horrible.

The best Chinese food in the area. I wasn't a huge fan of their steamed dumplings but everything else was SUPER yummy!

We eat here anytime we order Chinese takeout because it is close to home. Good but not excellent.

Excellent Malay food in Rochester! Pleasantly surprised at…read moreour dishes. Roti, eggplant in garlic sauce with pork, seafood tofu casserole, hainanese chicken. We also got salt pepper pork which was not on the menu, the waitress let us into The secret society of the off menu items! Chicken rice was great. We ate like pigs, had leftovers for few more meals and still came under expectations. Good lunch specials too. Right across street from RIT. Highly recommended.

I wasn't sure if it was reheated or due to the lack of experienced diners, who thought the redness near the bone on a pouched chicken was "raw". Not only was the chicken not served with ginger and scallion sauce, it was drizzled with soy sauce. I didn't taste the chicken flavor in the chicken rice either. Usually it's paired with the Hainese chicken. The mango chicken was too sweet, according to my husband and son. The roti canai was decent, but it had beef or pork in it. Previously, I've only had chicken in the sauce. With only 2 other seatings taken, we were sat next to a mom group of chatty 4 women. They were loud enough for our table not to bother speaking. When I go out with my girlfriends, we usually ask for a table in to corner or back, as to not bother other customers. We don't live in the area and only stopped by for a college open house.

I was visiting family when in town for work, and had eaten at the location in Perinton years ago…read more Decided that I wanted to come back and try their location closer to downtown Rochester. Street parking is available, no charge for that. We encountered construction so we had to drive around for a bit but it was worth it. Seated immediately one arriving, we went with a couple appetizers- my personal favorite, the scallion pancake and the steamed bao with BBQ pork belly inside. That comes two to an order so it worked out nicely. Both were exceptional. The scallion pancake is like no other. Extra crispy, incredibly flavorful- and I love their dipping sauce. Vinegary, sweet and sour. The buns were pillowy soft and the pork belly was tender and full of that smoky BBQ taste. For entrees, we chose the Kung Pow Shrimp and the Singapore style curry noodles that came with shrimp, bbq pork, and beef. Both dishes were plentiful. The shrink was definitely spicy, you can see with all of the red chilies in the sauce, with the peanuts and celery pieces cut on the bias for a classy look. The portion on the Singapore noodles was very hefty...we upgraded our rice to fried rice so we had a lot of food today. All in all, this was an enjoyable visit. Since I am headed home tonight I wanted to be sure I had enough food to last me the rest of the day until I get back to ATL. This place ALWAYS delivers! Support small businesses!
