Relatively new to town so I am randomly checking out places, and I'll preface this by saying that I expect a restaurant to serve me a better version of food than I can get at home, and my husband is a pretty damn good cook. Hence lunch today at Bin 119 was very disappointing the soda was flat, the fresh made potato chips were stale and the panini was made with some store bought pre-packaged flatbread that wasn't even toasted! Overall the sandwich was edible, but bland and not enjoyable. Definitely won't return. read more

Mediocre. Don't get me wrong--the people here are lovely, but the food is not that good. The duck-with-poached-pear was dry. The portabella sandwich wrap was goopy to the point of having a disgusting, disintegrating wrap. I seem to recall my experience the years prior (I come to Billings pretty much every year) was much better. But? It still gets three stars. Why? Because it's still the best choice you have in town. Honey roasted pork belly: Server had actually described it to be sorta like bacon, so I assumed it would be a piece of fatty-deliciousness. The pork belly was tasty, but I found it to be a little dry. Kinda wished the belly was fattier. I'm not really a polenta person, but this one was alright. It was a good size portion. Even though it's on the tapas menu, it can also serve as an entree. Creme brulee: I enjoyed it, but I wished it was bigger. There were only four thinly sliced pieces of strawberry. This is one of our favorite places to go eat! The atmosphere is nice, and food good. You're able to order fine dining or just an appetizer or sandwich. However, one of my favorites was the portabella mushroom burger, which is no longer on the menu. I'm hoping it has something to do with the time of year. My husband always has loved the Bin Burger, but it has been changed, so he ordered the cheeseburger. He was disappointed. The flavor was still good, but the bottom bun was too soggy to eat. Had the IPA & Glacier Altbeir both from Red Lodge, MT. Would totally drink those again - creme brûlée: get it! So good! To the point where I thought it was worth my time to write this review. The creme is rich, vanilla & creamy. The brûlée was thick (as it should be) w/the best crackle- that's how I judge my creme brûlée- by the crackle as my spoon breaks through the sugar coating. It has to be hard, crunchy & carmelized. Anything softer is no good. Also, service superb & atmosphere clean, warm & comfy. I had an all-around great meal & left happy & full. Will totally be back. Yes, please! We were on our way to another restaurant in the area and noticed Bin 119 and it's outdoor seating. After deciding the other place was not what we were looking for, we walked back. Cool look inside. Our server was awesome (lived in Hawaii). Nice wine list, good selection of food, and more importantly GREAT tasting food! My petit filet was perfect and I was able to modify the plate a little bit without a problem. Perfect pacing of food. This place belongs in L.A. We were in Billings for a couple days on our trip through Montana and stopped at this spot for dinner. It was a nice little find. We sat at the bar and it was equally as enjoyable at sitting at any table. Special props to the bartender/server Jeff who was running the show that night. We shared the pork belly and then I had the halibut while my husband had the crispy duck. Pork Belly and the Halibut were the standouts - the duck wasn't as crispy as we expected but we both licked our plates clean. We also sampled all the local brews they had in house - which was great. During our dinner we spotted a middle-aged couple making out in the back of the restaurant - which not only made us laugh or guess if they just met on tinder - but being newlyweds - also hopeful that we would still be that into each other in 20 years. Came for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Hardly anyone there but cozy environment. Ordered brunch- salmon and eggs. They were accommodating to swap the English muffin and tomatoes for some greens (I'm allergic to both). Food was great but small portions. Think a cup of fruit or a bit more portion would have been good. I'm not a huge eater, more of a grazer all day, but I left feeling a bit hungry still. Overall I would go back. Good lunch spot. We sat at the high tops by the bar and it was just fine for our meal. Service was pretty quick which was nice, but the portions were small -- and the side of chips that we got with our sandwich was a little smaller then I expected. Terrible Management. My group consisted of about 9 ladies out to get an early dinner after my cousin's bridal shower. Our entire experience was ruined, as well as that of other guests, by the appalling behavior of one of the manager/owners. This manager came up to our table and singled out one of our party to accuse her of wrong-doing concerning a coupon. He did not take her aside, or even thoroughly explain the situation, but berated her infront of our entire table as well as the rest of the restaurant. He claimed that this coupon (that she had used months ago) had been reused several times, though he could not verify when or how the rest of these mystery bills were paid for, but that it had cost the restaurant a 'great' expense. She asked him to clarify the situation, wondering how she could have reused this coupon (that has to be presented and given to the restaurant when you use it) and to see these other dates it was supposedly used so she could verify whether or not she was even in town during those times. She also explained that she was a frequent and generous patron of the establishment, something he should have known, and offered to pay for any mistakes that had been made on her part, but wanted to clarify if she had even done anything wrong! He could provide her with absolutely no information, started to get panicky and more rude, and eventually had the entire restaurant's attention shoving this piece of paper in her face. He then started to barter with her about how much she supposedly 'owed' him. It became increasingly clear that this was a situation of the restaurant mismanaging its accounts and he was looking to guilt a customer to pay for someone else's mistake. I am not going to claim to know how every conflict or situation should be handled, nor that I know all there is to know about managing a restaurant, but I have worked at very nice restaurants for years to put myself through school and know that if any manager at those establishments were to behave in that way, they would be let go immediately. I have no reason to exaggerate this. This complaint is by no means a mountain that was made out of a molehill. All of us at the table were completely surprised and taken aback by his extremely rude behavior and shady accusations, so much so that the reservation we had made to bring a large group of family and friends in next month, before the wedding, was immediately canceled. read more

Was in Billings before rv pickup and we wanted a nicer restaurant to eat in. Jakes was closed and the hotel suggested this place. Walked in and greeted by a bartender with a dry sense of humor(not a plus). Waitress Katie from friendly and helpful. Food was good but not off the charts. Steaks, salmon and short ribs all lacked a veggie side which should have come with the dinner. Perhaps a chefs daily veggie? Son had lobster mac and cheese which he loved. Another son loved the salmon but portion of rice was about a half cup and wasn't enough. Short rib was flavorful just alittle too much gravy that drenched the mashed. Not tons of choices in this town but for a Sunday night we were glad to have a nicer option available. read more

Panko shrimp over cooked and baked potatoe under cooked. We called to make a reservation and were told the reservation book had been lost so they were not taking reservation. We told them we wanted to eat at 430 pm and they said it would not be a problem. Show up at 430, manager tells us they were completely booked. If we wanted to eat there was one table and we could not be at the table past 600 pm. I would have gone somewhere else but my friend wanted to eat there for her birthday. I had a fairly disappointing experience last night at Bin 119 with a friend. We went there during the dinner hour, around 6 PM, prior to a concert at the Alberta bear. We ordered each a glass of the California Cabernet on their menu, to eat, she ordered the steak salad, and I had the Seared Ahi tuna. My tuna was fine, but The steak in her salad was nearly raw. We did pointed out to the server, who apologized and said that she would comp my friends meal. I had some concerns about whether she was going to communicate that the food was raw to management or to the kitchen staff. I've been to Bin 119 many times, and generally the food I've had there has been very good. I'm going to consider this a one off, and I'll go back again. On another note, and this has been a complaint I've had that I've communicated to the staff there previously, they've got a great bottle menu of wine, but their by the glass pours are really, really not good. They could do very well to completely revamp their by the glass pours on their wine menu. read more

My husband ordered the fish taco and said, "I thought the dish was so bad that it was not worth sending back" as he had no faith that the chef could get the dish right. The fish was "rotten tasting" and the cabbage was in large pieces not served finely chopped as with most traditional Mexican slaws. There was no salsa or creme accompaniment. Literally my husband did not eat the dish. As we were the guest of friends, he did not want to complain. The waitress should have noticed this and asked what was wrong, but that never happened. I'm really disappointed. After reading the reviews, I expected great things. We ordered a filet well done, and two rib-eyes, medium well and well done. Everything came out rare...and they came out one at a time. Really? Who wants to eat alone? They were super busy on a Wednesday night and we had to wait 20 min for a table for 2 but then 30 min to place an order and over an hour after that to get tapa olive and hummus spread appetizer. (Got it free due to wait). Another 20 min to get entree salad. So from door to entree = over 2 hours. But like I said, best ever tuna. Also had the cheesecake. I think it was from a box, but it was really good, too. Waitress was SUPER nice and kept apologizing for the kitchen taking forever. I will def go back here when I return to Billings.
