Definition of dive bar in the most wonderful way! Server was sassy and very attentive. Portions are huge! The ribeye was the largest ever--might have been a T-Rex ribeye. Relleno steak was unique and really tasty. Could have fed our table! You should consider splitting plates. We ordered the zucchini fries but never got them, so can't review them. Sister ordered nachos, which were gigantic. They do NOT skimp on the beef, chicken or cheese! No live band tonite, sadly. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was cozy and nice. Great for people watching and plenty of cool stuff to look at on the walls while you wait. We were seated quickly, the food was made fresh to order and tasted as good as it smelled. We were just passing through CloudCroft for the night and this was a pleasant end to a very long day. We also got a couple bags of brownies to go, they were ginormous and one bag was enough for my whole crew (5). Had dinner here tonight with the guys after one kept talking for the last 2weeks about the stuffed steak. Me being the petite girl, I had the chili combo plate which was wonderful! I tried both the homemade red and green chili sauce on the side. You can't go wrong with either! The red was Smokey and full of flavor while the green had a slight twang. I'm gonna day, you shouldn't be complaining about either. So, into the meat. The guys all had the stuffed steak and a ribeye. I had a slice of the ribeye. I'm about as picky as you can get about meat so I'm gonna tell you, if you want a side of cow, this is the place. It isn't very often you get this much meat for the price because the steak took up the whole plate! Shirley our server is a bit of feisty, so if you're a weak ass, you better put on your man pants. She doesn't sugar coat it for those pants types. Seriously though, if you want a good steak and possibly feed the whole family off one plate, this is your place. While visiting the area for work we found this super fun bar that offers karaoke and great hip hop and country music for dancing, on Friday and Saturday nights. Randomly while looking at Google reviews we discovered they have a great steakhouse resturant during the week. The Chile Relleno stuffed Ribeye and Prime Rib were delicious. Billy Ray's is a bit off the beaten path but worth the walk. This is definitely one of my favorite dive bar restaurants. You know you are in a dive bar when you are watching a cherry pit spitting contest on the tv! The menu is simple but good. I ordered a side salad with ranch dressing and it was fresh and crisp. The ranch dressing was home made and it tasted great. I ordered the Reuben sandwich which comes with hot mustard. The mustard is great but I like my Reubens with thousand island dressing that I was able to order on the side. There was absolutely no fat on this sandwich and the meat was very flavorful. The bread was toasted to perfection. I highly recommend this one. Hubby ordered the grilled ham and cheese. He said it was a great hot sandwich and would order it again. So come to Billy Ray's for a drink and a great bite to eat. We are going to go find some aliens so see you later. read more

Can't say I found this place because I'm sure it wasn't lost at least to the locals. Just saw the picture and had to try the stuffed rib eye. I wish they'd put a warning on the menu about how large this hunk of meat was. I honestly tried to do it all in one sitting but I was not ashamed to ask for a to go box. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly and honestly was the best I've had in a long time. Yes Billy Rays is on my radar for their hamburgers. Maybe this time I won't need a to go box. I was getting cranky on our road trip so my sister quickly recommended that we grab something to eat in hopes of putting me back in a better mood. It worked. We stopped by Billy Ray's upon the recommendation of another local Roswell business owner. We had the chile relleno stuffed ribeye, the chicken relleno, and a couple of drinks (a Vegas bomb, which the bartender stated was her specialty, and a Long Island Iced Tea). Everything was yummy. And what made it even nicer was the friendliness of the staff. The waitresses allowed us to order and pay, then eat our salad up front and return later for the meal (we wanted to return to the Alien Zone and take pictures before it closed but needed something in our stomachs to keep me in a pleasant mood). They gave us their phone number to call on our way back so that Chef Todd could have the remainder of the food hot and ready for us upon our return. The bartender told us what her specialty was (the Vegas Bomb) and definitely lived up to her reputation. Both the Vegas Bomb and her Long Island Iced Tea were well made! My sister had a bloody mary which she wasn't as impressed by. The Chef came out to greet us and asked our names. We were both surprised when we returned, only to find that he wrote our names in our food. That was such a personable touch! The food was better than average and priced more than reasonably. While we were eating our meal, a band began to set up. We were surprised by how good the band sounded but did not have time to stay for the entire show. If you are ever in Roswell, this is a great place to stop and relax before hitting the road again. Ah, my first review on Yelp after years of lurking. This place deserves it. When you walk in, you hesitate. "This is where I am eating dinner? It just looks like a local drinking hole." Yes it does, and yes it is. You will find locals here getting their drink on, and catching up with the staff. Speaking of which, the staff is great. Very warm and friendly. They seem to want you to stay. Not just for your business, but because they like you. When I ordered the steak stuffed with green Chile, the chef came out to greet me immediately. He asked me where I was from, and engaged in some small talk. When my steak came back, he had put a message specific to me on the plate. Reading through the other reviews, you can tell he does that with everyone. How warm and friendly is that? I think the best chefs at the greatest restaurants could take a lesson from this guy. He also came out after the meal to ask how I liked it. As for the food, the stuffed steak lives up to the hype. This guy has it down. You don't tell him how you want it cooked. He has is nailed. I dropped one star for the salad. It was iceberg lettuce with a couple of tomato slices. Oh, that seemed so out of place. Everything else was great. How hard would it be to do a spinach and/or mixed green salad with a few creative things thrown on? I really wanted to say something, but since he was so nice, it would have seemed rude. *This is my 100th review* I'm happy to be writing it for Billy Ray's. As newcomers to town, it is hard to find a place to just chill and have a good time. We walked into Billy Ray's on a Saturday night. Most of the tables were empty with just a few people sitting at the bar. We ordered a few beers. They have Blue Moon on tap and it was the coldest beer! The bartender that night was very friendly, giving us insider tips on life in Roswell. The other 2 waitresses didn't do anything at all but sit near the kitchen and talk to each other. The patrons sitting at the bar were very friendly and struck up a conversation with us. They had ordered food and were raving about how delicious the steak was there. The friendly bartender told us they have bands on Friday night and the crowd gets better. Saturdays is Karaoke night and it wasn't long before the tables started to fill up. This could really be a fun place to hang out. I think the waitresses could be more social, get out from behind the bar, take off the oversized hoodies (it is 110 degrees outside) and maybe try talking to the the customers. There aren't a lot of choices when it comes to nightlife in Roswell but this place could change that with the right amount of customer service. read more

Best steak I have had in forever. Sweet folks. Just a little neighborhood bar with incredible foods. Would return in a heartbeat.

The food and service are 5 stars. The place feels a little like a dive bar. Seems like a great place to get a drink, but it feels like a mixed use space. I had the Chili relleno stuffed ribeye which was huge and fantastic. My friend brought his daughter who was happy with chicken strips. My uncle recommended this place for me. Looking at the menu I as like "really a Fillet Mignon and a Beef Wellington at a bar?!?!?! no way" I had a couple of drinks with a friend of mine and was greeted by Chef Todd, who was a sweetie. He brought out a couple of steak samples for me and my girlfriend, which was delicious. I haven't had a well seasoned, not Over seasoned, but well seasoned steak that melted in your mouth like butter in years. He also let us try the cheesecake which won a blue ribbon a while back and it was velvet for your taste buds. They do have regular pup food for those who want something that is basic and quick. The waiting staff was polite and quick to respond if we needed anything and although there is no smoking in the bar it was a warm and great place to be... There is live music on the weekends and Karaoke twice a week. Final Thought: Chef Todd is amazing and should be in a 5 star restaurant with what he cooks in the bar, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and groups of big kids like me should have no problem having a great time at great prices. read more
