Green chile cheeseburger in all it's glory.
    Michael H.

A simple 2 person operation that has a few seats and a drive through. Burgers and sandwiches and sides. It is nothing fancy inside and out, but they get the job done. It is off the main drag of chain restaurants and worth the detour. We sought them out because of good reviews on Yelp, because they were local and because I thought it was about time to give the green chile/chili cheeseburger phenomenon of the Southwest a try. They were a good choice on all counts. I was expecting something with a green chili sauce poured over it. What I got was my usual hamburger "all the way" with the addition of green chile strips. They added another delicious taste to my favorite hamburger. I will be paying a little more attention when my local grocery touts that they have Hatch green chiles in stock. For now I will plan to stock up on some canned versions before I head home. Don't go here expecting fast food speed on your order. They cook it when you order and for two people handling dine in, take out and drive through orders they do a very good job.

Wow Roswell wtg with having Julie's place here. Forget any other hamburger (big Ds is still good but a PITA to get into with parking). Julie cooks up a major good home cooked burger just perfection and her crispy fries (large order) were perfect for sharing. This will be our stop in and out of town from now on when going to Ruidoso. Oh and bacon cheeseburger and cheese burger and fries. 14$. Good price.

    Green Chile cheeseburger - mmmmm!

I'm back in Roswell after 7 months and it's great seeing Julie and her husband hard at work making their customers happy! Always busy here and the food is why. My go-to is the green Chile cheeseburger - fantastic! This Georgia boy will keep coming back.

Outstanding! Double meat burger was about a pound of meat. They use ground chuck. My wife got the chimichanga and that was also awesome. Space is a little tight inside (20 seats total). Service outstanding. Nice people, very friendly. Highly recommend stopping in before going to see UFO and aliens.

I'm on the road and needed a good lunch stop. Today's my second lunch here this week. Home cooked burgers etc. Today I had my first Green Chili Cheeseburger and it was excellent. Take a few extra napkins cause the meals can be a little messy. Small place that is nice to be at. I'm glad I found this so place and this second visit is equally enjoyable. Very inexpensive. Worth it!!!!

My family of 15 people stopped for lunch on our family vacation. The food was phenomenal! Really good diner style food.

Now the other alternative was Texas Roadhouse. Don't get me wrong, I'm regionally from where Texas Roadhouse was founded and it's huge, especially where I'm from. But part of my philosophy when traveling is to try someplace new, traditionally NOT a chain. So I gave this a shot. Cattle Baron reminds me of those old school steakhouses in the 90s that served steaks and an AYCE salad bar. Except it's much nicer ambiance-wise with a broader menu. I ordered the largest ribeye steak they had with a loaded baked potato, unlimited salad bar, a Coca-Cola, and a brownie for dessert. The total for ALL that ended up being $48.35. That's really cheap considering I had to be rolled out on a stretcher (joking). The most expensive item was the steak, in the $30-range but an unlimited salad bar for $4.95 and dessert for $6.95 can't be beat. The salad bar had everything you'd want in a salad bar with fresh veggies and toppings along with two soups, premade salads, and a sampling of sweet items like jello and fruit. I got 2 plates from the bar and two small bowls of soup. The steak and potato soup was good but the chicken soup was a bit salty for my taste. My steak and loaded potato was good and hit the spot. The potato was kind of dry, assuming it was a potato, already cooked hours ago and they just pulled it out to serve to me. After smothering it in butter and sour cream, the dryness disappeared. The steak was cooked medium rare, so no issues there but there was very little seasoning. I added salt and pepper to it, which made it a lot better. I wish it had a little bit more searing/char to it. I ended the meal with a brownie and ice cream, with caramel drizzle. The brownie was fairly large and warm, with a nice scoop of ice cream and ample ribbons of caramel sauce. It was really delicious and not too overly sweet! It definitely put me over the food coma edge. Service was good, but slow. My waitress explained to me that it was slow because a table of 39 people showed up, so she apologized. It didn't bother me though because I was so tired from working nearly 12 hours that day. I'm glad I supported local and my meal was definitely worth the price.
