Anyone looking for a delicious restaurant in Roswell, NM, we recommend Geli's Mexican Restaurant on Main Street. They've only been open for a month at this location. They had live music, delicious food and drinks, and the best flan dessert I've ever had!! We recommend trying the following: *Enchilada Plate with shredded beef in green & red salsa. *Green chile cheese dip *Shrimp tacos *Chicken chimichanga *margaritas We had excellent customer service and the restaurant was big enough for large groups. Food in a surreal Wes Anderson Roswell set location, that's what the decor and uniform felt like for use with the retro waitress uniforms, Day of The Dead Details, and generous use of pink paint throughout the interior. Service was great and I loved our waitress, she was super friendly and made sure our coffees were full and our meal was good. This was our first meal at Roswell and it was SO good for a small-town breakfast cafe. It was also our first daytime experience with the touristy Alien decor via their window painting. Breakfast Quesadilla: With hashbrowns and beans. My friend loved this and destroyed it. I tried a quesadilla and it tasted amazing. Carne Asada: I got this plate and just based on the high quality of the rice and beans I knew the meat would be good. The rice and beans were seriously some of the best I've had in awhile and when the tortilla came in its own container I knew the meat and tortilla would be amazing as well. It was busy for a weekday in the afternoon so you know it has to be good. I was recommended this place my the lady at the office was working at and one of my patients so I decided to give it a try. It is quite noisy so when you walk in there is a sign that says Please wait to be Seated but someone from somewhere tells have a seat and you don't know of it is directed to you. So you stand there looking dumb. Then again yelled Sit anywhere. I grab the only open clean table. The waitress comes over and gives me a menu and asks if I want water. I said yes. She can back and brought me chips and salad but forgot my drink. After 10 mins she returns to take my order. I ordered the kids taquito plate. Waited about 10 more mins to get my food. In the mean time I started with the chips and salsa. It was good but I think made with more chipotle chilies than jalapeños. It gave it that burnt taste. Or maybe it was burnt because they just have it in a large stock pot sitting under a heating lamp. My food came out and it was larger than expected. It came with 3 taquitos, a large scoop of beans and rice. I did not care for the flavor of either. The beans tasted like they came from a can and the rice was not very flavorful. What makes up for the stars is the chicken taquitos. They were ever flavorful. Juicy and well seasoned chicken. I also loved the fresh guacamole with the plate. Stopped by while passing through and man was this a busy little spot. The locals seem to love it. A good sign. I got the smothered breakfast burrito and the biscuits and sausage gravy. Should have just got the burrito. I was recommended the red sauce because it's spicy. It's tasty, but for this Mexican boy, it was just a little bit hot. Nothing to cry about. Great, great breakfast burrito. Especially for the size and price! The biscuits and gravy were nothing too brag about. Bland and dry biscuits with bland gravy. The staff was friendly and offered to fill my coffee. $20 for both plates and a coffee. Would have saved $8 if I had just got the burrito. Today, my daughter and I visited Geli's Cafe, and I have to say, this was one of the rare times I wasn't disappointed by Mexican food in the Southwest. I live in Central California, near Fresno, where we're lucky to have some of the best Mexican food around. When traveling, I've noticed that different regions put their own spin on things, so I always try to keep an open mind. Even so, I've often found myself underwhelmed. That wasn't the case here. I usually order a Machaca breakfast burrito, but Geli's serves it as a plate instead--fresh beef Machaca with hashbrowns, beans, and two warm tortillas. It was a nice change, and the portion was generous. In fact, I had plenty of leftovers, which I was excited to dig into later (a little later than planned, but a midnight snack is a midnight snack). I also got the biscuits and gravy with a side of freshly roasted long green chilies, and I might have stumbled onto something special. I sprinkled on some Tabasco and the chilies, and it took the dish to a whole new level. Honestly, this should be a menu item on its own. The combo of smoky heat and creamy gravy was just right. Service was good, the place was clean, and the food hit the spot. I'd definitely come back. If you're in the area, just keep an open mind--Mexican food varies from place to place, and while it might not always be what you're used to, sometimes that's a good thing. Good food, although a bit pricey. Used to be good, cheap food, but those days might be over. Sometimes you get chips and salsa, sometimes you don't. I like their omelettes (potatoes crispy/well done or else they're hard inside) or their blt and burgers. Haven't tried much else on the menu, as they would be so full there would be a waiting list and then when their prices raised, I stopped going as they priced themselves out for me. My husband ordered Chilequiles and I was jealous of his meal because it was much better than mine. I got the Chile rellenos but the chilies were not very good. My meal was extremely bland. I don't really know what happened there but my husband's meal was excellent. My kids also enjoyed their meals. The french fries were perfect and the queso was outstanding. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I wish I liked my meal more. I would say get a meat dish. It seems like they have a nice grill. We saw several place of fajitas go by and I wish I had ordered that instead. read more

Great service! Great food! We ordered the breakfast southern stir fry. It had all the meats, jalapeño, onion, and salsa. Side of eggs and beans . Came with fresh large homemade tortillas, none of that store bought crap. I am from Texas, so I made my own tacos. I highly recommend if you want good authentic Mexican food. read more

This is a new place that is sure to be a hit. The lines are a bit long on the weekend for lunch but sooo worth it. My wife had the huevos rancheros (green) that left her grinning. I had the breakfast burrito AKA, big enough for the whole family. I could go on and on. This is a new place that was recommended, plus it had good reviews. I ordered steak picado & eggs that came with hash browns and beans. I didnt care for thier picado recipe at all. Its described diffently than what you get..which is like a stew with tough little chunks of beef and VERY little green chile, if it had onions & tomatoes I couldn't tell. My son got a breakfast burrito smothered in red. I left wishing I had ordered something different because my son's breakfast was Delicious!! Thier beans are great too!!..(and I dont even like beans). Another down fall for me, not to mention my biggest pet peeve are floors with food and trash that need to be swept up and tables left with dirty dishes. I would probably give this place another try & just order something different, hopefully the flaws may be improved with time if they take care to keep it clean... (maybe even change the description of the picado to "a southwest beef stew with chopped green chile. I will add that the staff are all very friendly which is a real plus. read more

I remember when Geli was wanting to open a restaurant -- I'm so glad she was able to do so, even with the pandemic hitting and closures taking place. She figured out a way to feed people outside under the awning and provides a great service for to-go orders -- and the food. . .well, let's just say every morsel was eaten in our taco plates to go! I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to being able to dine in as she has totally remodeled the inside of the restaurant. Great staff, great service and very friendly! read more

YUM! not only was the service at geli's cafe astronomically exceptional, the food was DELICIOUS! i ordered the tostadas with the shredded beef and it was 10/10. the red sauce was the best sauce i had tried in santa fe by far. as a latin person from miami, i APPROVE of geli's cafe! do not let the small number of great reviews turn you away! read more
