When we asked around for good places to get a drink at Pepper's frequently came up on the list. Staff was amazing and helped seat us somewhere we could be a little more loud and the location next to the bar was perfect. The interior is surprisingly large with a spacious dining room to the right, more seating near the bar, and even an outdoor space that had live music when we went. Spicy Beef Nachos Appetizer: Chips topped with queso, green onions, jalapeños, black olives, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream. My friend got this and I had a couple bites. Chips were not soggy and it was large enough to cover as his dinner. Green Chile Burger: Topped with monterey jack cheese and roasted chopped Chaves County-grown hot green chile. Served on a jalapeño bun with a side of our hot green chile sauce. Their signature burger and it tasted good. I don't need too much food but the amount of fries I got was too little even for me. Got two Johnny Walker Blacks with a splash of coke and they came well mixed and quickly. We did end up getting rained in and hilariously went back for a second dinner to wait out the rain. My band (Shine on Floyd!) is in town on tour and stopped in for dinner and drinks. TBH the food was decent, but unexceptional... i bumped this up to five stars for the amazing service! The hostess (whose name I forget) went out of her way to take special care of our huge group of 10 people who dropped in on her on a busy night. Our server Heather was a total rock star! She had never heard of Pink Floyd (heresy!) but treated us like royalty. Was a very nice place. Large with what looked like an area for larger events plus a separate bar area. The food was a decent price. The fajita combo meat was good. The beans and rice could have been skipped. The beans had no flavor and the rice had a raw cumin taste. No salsa. The guacamole was good. Also no chips with a Togo. Don't know about dine in. My wife said the shrimp app was good. They were popcorn shrimp. The buffalo chicken wings and poppers were really good. I was standing there ready to order when a door dash order came in so she stopped with mine and I put it which put me behind tht order. Wasn't to happy about tht but after driving 8 hours today I was ready to get back to the accommodations. It took about 20 minutes. Not from here but wouldn't go back if I was. We hit up Peppers for a late lunch on a cold day. Luckily we were seated by the fire which was very pleasant and comforting. I ordered the Smothered Mexican Chopped Steak Bowl, medium rare. The 8 oz perfectly cooked chopped steak was topped with a delicious mild green sauce, shredded cheese, corn tortilla strips and chopped green onions, nested on a bed of seasoned fries. Our server Talyor was incredibly sweet and helped out with the menu. Made good suggestions and was very informative about how some foods were made with a twist like the crispy buffalo wings. The buffalo sauce was fried into the batter and made a really tasty chicken wing and it was actually our most favorite dish. Soup or salad was an option for Boo's catfish dinner and he opted for the broccoli cream soup and Taylor noticed it wasn't touched. She asked how it was and he said it 'wasn't the best' and she admitted it looked a little runny tonight and offered to bring out a salad instead. And for that I really appreciate that she wanted to make it right. The restaurant is like your typical Tex-Mex decor and charm. A mix of tables, booths and chairs. Plenty of space for large groups yet cozy enough for a party of two. We had stopped 2 hours prior and got tacos in Carlsbad and I wasn't hungry. But I plowed through and got the burger and I wish I could have eaten more because the burger and fries was really good. That made it easy to choose something that's definitely not a chain restaurant. Arriving on a Wednesday evening, I was greeted by the hostess and brought to a booth in a busy section. I believe my waiter was Timothy who was attentive and friendly and helpful. I had two light beers and with it, the "Fire-roasted green chili cheese burger" with a salad instead of fries. The burger was quick and while it was a little more done than medium rare, it was a good portion and tasty. The green chilies were flavorful with just a bit of kick to them. The salad veggies were fresh. Wifi worked well and I used a good bit of it to plot out my attack of Roswell and on to the next stop in my journey. I enjoyed Peppers and would eat here again. Food was absolutely terrible. Got 2 plain old chicken fried steaks with fries. You could tell they were frozen, no flavor, just fried mush. Can't wait to get back to Texas...real food. How can I leave 5 stars for somewhere I only ate a sandwich and stew at? Listen. It was $17.25 for a 7 oz ribeye between gluten free bread with green chile and cheese. This wasn't shredded beef; it was a full 7 oz ribeye portion and it was cooked to perfection. Simple seasoning which is so important on beef, and it was perfect. Only $17.25? WOW! Everyone I interacted with on the staff was very friendly as well! I got my order to-go, so interaction was limited, but everyone greeted me that I interacted with, and the gentleman at the front was great. Let's also chat about the stew. Now, this is my first NM chile experience, so take this with a grain of salt, but this Green Chile Stew was so flipping good. Did I want it to be spicier? Sure did, but I'm also sure those driving with in the car did not. I get it though - make it right in the middle with spice and more people will eat it. The pork? TENDER. Not gummy or overcooked tender. Not sitting in the bottom of the pot for too long tender. This was perfectly tender. A little fatty? Sure. I care not. Perfectly cooked potato, strong Chile flavor, true comfort stew. Some like their stew thick, but this isn't, and that's why I like it! Plus, it is gluten free, so YES PLEASE! Welcoming, locally owned establishment with an old style vibe and plenty of locals. The bar area is comfortable with a mix of cushy booths, tables and small bar. The bartender, Chris, welcomed us and when asked if Peppers was locally owned, he shared that he'd been eating there since he was four years old. We were visiting on a Monday night so we sampled the $3 house margarita which was a good blend of tart and not too sweet. We also shared a basket of house made chips and salsa, only $1, all the time! The chips were light and crisp and the salsa tasted fresh with a hint of pepper. For our main entree, we ordered the rib-eye steak based on Chris' insight that all the steaks are cut and aged in-house. It came with choice of salad or soup, roll or green chili cornbread, baked potato, fries, veggies, or beans and rice. We chose the salad, basic and fresh with good blue cheese dressing a, roll that was fresh and tasty, and baked potato that was cooked perfectly, soft and fluffy. The steak was over cooked for medium, rare and one of the locals encouraged us to send it back since the owner wouldn't want us to be disappointed. We relented and the next steak was cooked perfect for our preference. As we were finishing our meal, one of the owners, Adam, came to us to ensure we were happy with the outcome. Such an effort is the indicator of local owners who are actively involved in their establishment, ensuring the quality of food and the environment are meeting customer expectations. I stopped in here for lunch while exploring Roswell. I had The Green Chile Stew, Blue Corn Taquitos and a traditional Margarita. The Green Chile Stew was fantastic! Plenty of steak in a rich, flavorful broth. It had plenty of heat, but not to the point that it blew your ears off. The Blue Corn Taquitos were a great choice for for a light lunch. Crisp, Fried Blue Corn Tortilla's filled with nicely seasoned chicken, served with Salsa and the best Guacamole I've had in a long time. If I knew it was that good, I would have ordered it with chips to start my meal. I also had their "House Margarita". It was made what my waitress said was their House Gold Tequila. Not sure what that is, but it made a very good Margarita! A nice, light addition to my meal. Service was friendly and efficient. They are wheelchair accessible. The Men's Room was huge and easily navigated. If I ever find myself back in Roswell, Pepper's will definitely be on my return list. read more

I wish i could give this place negative stars... First of all- the atmosphere is the most peculiar thing i have ever seen in either a sports bar or Mexican restaurant (which this place can't seem to decide which it is... and it is surely not both) Secondly, our service was abysmal. Our waitress couldn't keep track of all the tables she has. We waited 25 minutes for drinks alone. She came by a total of 3 times the entire service... maybe. Now i chalk this up to management not properly staffing the restaurant. She clearly needed help, and there wasn't anyone willing to assist her. When the food finally came... it was almost inedible. The beef bowl my significant other received quite literally smelled like farts. FARTS. It smelled atrocious. I didn't let her eat it because clearly something was wrong. My meal on the other hand was wet (water- which seemed like it had been microwaved by none other than Chef Mike), had little to no flavor (their seasoning pantry must be empty), and what little flavor it did have was reminiscent of old beef & soggy, not fresh vegetables. All in all- i could potentially chalk this up as the worst dining experience of my life. I pray for the patrons of this establishment that they don't receive food poisoning or worse... because Peppers should be shuttered indefinitely. read more

They were supposed to be on various types of lettuce (Roman, spring, spinach, cabbage, etc). Every salad came on basic iceberg and was mostly the the chunky/hard heart of slimy end leafs. The salads that had chicken (buffalo and mojito) had dry I we cooked chicken. The other parts of the salad seemed soggy and old. If you like drowning your salad in dressing, this is the place to go. They send about 1/4 of a bottle of dressing with each salad. Service is slow, even when they are not busy. 5 sat table and took over an hour to get our meal.
