    Just little old me.

This was my first time at Martin's Capitol Café in Roswell and let me tell ya... it did not disappoint. My daughter brought me here for lunch while I was visiting from California. And as a guy from Cali, I came in ready to silently judge everything. But I walked out impressed... and full. Soon as we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff who didn't miss a beat. Our server met us at the table with a smile and even laughed at my bad jokes... which might've just earned them a sixth star if that was a thing. They brought chips and salsa to the table right away. Now let's talk about the chips for a second... light, fresh, perfectly crisp, and seasoned just right. And the salsa had a nice little zing without trying to set your face on fire. We were off to a solid start. I ordered the stuffed sopapilla--covered in melted cheese and green chile, topped with a mountain of sour cream and guac. I probably butchered the spelling but whatever you call it... it was legit. Every bite was rich and satisfying, with that New Mexico green chile flavor punching through like it should. We also had the chile relleno plate, and again, no complaints. Cheese-filled, smothered in sauce, served with rice and beans that actually had flavor. Can't ask for much more than that. And yes... I took home the leftovers and murdered them later as a midnight snack. No regrets. The restaurant itself has a cozy, old-school charm to it. Clean booths, warm lighting, wood furniture, and some cool stained-glass work tucked around the corners. You can tell this place has been feeding locals and travelers for a long time... and still doing it right. So if you're ever cruising through Roswell looking for something better than UFO merch and mystery meat burgers... swing into Martin's. They'll feed you right, make you feel welcome, and probably make you laugh. Solid all the way through. --Kevin from Cali...

A local favorite that I remember from many years ago. Still top-notch authentic Mexican food. Beer and wine only in terms of the bar. Friendly service. No complaints and highly recommend for a solid meal.

So incredibly yummy. hit the spot just right and if we werent passing through this would be a place i would frequent. Good prices, good food, good service, they have it all. We had a lovely chat with our waiter about our rv trip and he was a very nice gentleman who made sure we were taken care of even with a busy restaurant. Lovely establishment

Great chorizo plate!! Service was friendly and prompt. Prices were average. Ambiance was old school mom and pop diner.

The biggest stand out from this visit is the service. The staff is prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. The restaurant was clean and quiet (I was there around 3pm) but the staff was just as attentive as they'd have been during a busy rush. I felt very welcome. I ordered the green chile chicken enchiladas. They were very good, not exactly how I make them but very good. There was a bit of chew to the corn tortillas and the waitress recommended getting the white corn instead of yellow next time. The complimentary chips and salsa were exceptional. I love love loved that salsa. Had to take it with me. lol Over all Martin's is an excellent place to eat and I'd definitely go there again.

During the eclipse, we met someone who had gotten a recommendation from a Roswell local that Martin's Capitol Cafe was the "best New Mexican food in town". The décor felt like a bit of a throwback and kind of cool at the same time. The menu had too many selections but but hubby ordered the chile relleno plate al caballo and I had the stuffed sopapilla. There was sooooo much food and the prices were extremely reasonable. The food was fresh and delicious, very different from the options readily available in the SF East Bay area.. Our server was very friendly, had a great sense of humour and made us feel welcome. There were, however, some diners that were, uhm, a little odd ... like outer space alien odd We could not finish our plates, so our leftovers were packed up and they included extra order chips to go with. Note: the booth we sat in was was not terribly comfortable. The covers were cracked and the springs have given up I suspect they are all that way. You might be better off sitting in the middle of the dining room with the hard, straight-backed chairs. I would definitely stop here again on my way through to infinity - and beyond!

The waitress told me this was "small"! Ohhh so good and cheesy chimichanga! Just passing through, but this place has amazing food!

In town with my nephew to see the UFO museum, Martins was the perfect place to end our short trip to Roswell. Slightly off the beaten path, it blends Into the building and stands out via the restaurant sign. Upon entering, we sat at a booth and were provided with chips and salsa. My nephew ordered a cup of the green chili stew along with a chicken entree. I opted for the green chili stuffed sopapilla. The green chili stew was hands down the best my nephews ever had. He essentially licked the bowl clean! We ordered two bowls extra to take home. The rest of our food was good, but the green chili stew won the trophy! Definitely check this place out. Good food, friendly staff, great service!

Martin's Capitol Café is located very close by the Roswell Visitor Center with some limited curb parking available but a large parking lot located right across the street. My husband and I decided to make a to go order here on a Friday around 1 pm (please note that diners are able to dine inside but I still prefer not to eat inside a restaurant). We ended up ordering: Asado Plate, $8.85 prior to tax- This entrée comes with pork chucks made in their red sauce, rice and beans and also served with a tortilla, according to the menu. But we did not get a tortilla in our to go bag when I picked it up. This dish really would have gone well with a tortilla so that was a bummer. But despite that, my husband did like the dish and thought it was pretty filling. He liked the chili sauce that the pork was made in. Combination Plate With Chicken Enchilada, $10.40 prior to tax- I ordered this entrée, which is served with rice and beans, a taco and 2 chicken enchiladas. I had requested the taco to be a soft taco but got a crispy one instead. Also I had asked the girl who took my order what sauce was spicy since she had asked if I wanted red or green on my enchilada. She said she did not know if the green one was spicy but that the red one was spicy. I asked her if she could have the green sauce on the side instead? She said she could but that didn't happen. I thought the green sauce was a tad too spicy for me (who is a nonspicy eater. My husband did think the green sauce is spicy but just fine for him). The food tasted good, but just a bit too spicy for me. It was also quite filling and made for 2 meals for me. ----------------------- (Total= $20.76 after tax, prior to tip) I was told that my order would be ready in 20 minutes so I ended up just waiting in my car in the parking lot across the street until then. My order did come with a bag of freshly fried chips and a small container of salsa. I was disappointed that our order did not come with the items requested and was missing a tortilla. I probably would not come here again but can see why others would dine here, especially with an overall rating of 4 stars at the time of this review. Portions are plentiful for 2 meals if ordering one entree, service seems friendly and pricing is quite affordable.

Pulled over to get a coffee before long shift. Super cute and clean. Young girl at counter was very friendly and nice when I took a little extra time trying to figure out what I wanted. On the large board behind the counter was the special drinks and food for the month of February. I decided to get a chocolate cherry iced latte with white chocolate instead of milk or dark. I also got the white chocolate strawberry scone. The scone came warmed , it was so good I should have gotten 2 of them. My iced drink was good, even with swapping out of white chocolate it was tasty but a bit on the sweet side. They also have milk alternatives, I got oatmilk. The second you walk in, you know this is the coffee spot in town. The music, lighting, people, and overall energy made it clear why it was packed. Aliens everywhere, local art and curiosities lining the walls, and that effortlessly cool, eclectic vibe where you don't know where to look first--but in the best way. The food and drink held up just as well. Coffee and teas were solid, with a local tea vendor on site doing samples and selling loose-leaf blends, which was such a great touch. I had a vegan hummus salad that was genuinely good, plus some food bites, while my husband loved his burrito. I also stumbled upon handmade origami earrings (cranes and roses!) that I was obsessed with, along with books, swag, and random treasures--at one point I picked up a Japanese art book I would've bought instantly if it had been for sale. And just when you think you've seen it all, the space keeps going: a wine lounge in the back, a roasting operation, more rooms to explore. Huge credit to the staff--only a handful of employees holding down a nonstop crowd, all with great energy. If you're passing through New Mexico, even if Roswell is slightly out of the way, Stellar Coffee is absolutely worth the stop. The hidden wine lounge with speakeasy vibes is named Interstellar - SO CUTE !!
