La Sierra BBQ is a small family owned BBQ business. And I mean to tell you that when you are in Roswell New Mexico, this is a must stop place to eat. The service is amazing. The wife comes out and makes suggestions while you sit at the table and trying to decide what you want. She will sit and chitchat with you as long as it's not extremely busy She shares the history of the restaurant and where her and her husband are from and how they got started and how they cook their food and how they run their business. They are only open Thursday through Sunday and cook their food in a smoker for up to 72 hours depending on what they are smoking. We tried the large sampler there were four of us. We had the brisket, the sausage, the pulled pork corn on the cob coleslaw beans cornbread. All of it just melted in your mouth. It was delicious and as all great smokehouse barbecue, they did not put barbecue sauce on the meat while it was cooking. They had their barbecue sauce on the side if you wanted it, it was nice and tangy and well-made if you wanted it. Oh, and don't let me forget their ribs. They were baby back ribs, and they were firm with a great smoke ring and as you were eating them, they fell right off the bone. I cannot recommend this place enough and for barbecue, which is very expensive. This was priced very well for what you getand the iced tea. Both sweet tea and regular tea was amazing. Almost drove past this place it is tiny! Walked in and was quickly greeted by a pleasant woman who took my order. Potato salad had a ton of flavor and spice. It really had the right amount of everything. Brisket was cooked perfectly and tasted just as good. The only thing that was a bit of a let down was the barbecue sauce. It had a very sharp taste almost sour but rotten at the same time. Hoping it was just an off bottle because that is not how I prefer BBQ sauce to taste. This barbecue place was absolutely for real! Three of us shared the family meal, and there was some leftover for breakfast. The brisket was great, a combination of lean and moist just as requested. The barbecue sauce is very tasty, and not too sweet. And the sides were good too - very important with barbecue, as y'all know. The potato salad was absolutely amazing and made both the yellow and white potato salad camps happy. The beans were very tasty and had good flavor as well, without being greasy. I've only had take out from this place and it has never failed, if take away is that good I can only imagine what sit down would be like. We were heading back to TX from Az and passed through Roswell. The reviews stated that this place was awesome; so, we stopped by. The owners are from East TX! The place was clean. The service was outstanding. The taste of the bbq was fantastic, as we expected. We ordered chicken fingers, chili, TX corn bread, brisket sandwich, and a bbq chicken sandwich. We were driving back to Texas from Las Vegas and were in Roswell and looking for a place to eat. Came across this place and read some reviews and one mentioned the owner was from east Texas, and also being from east Texas, we had to stop in. We got a 3 meat plate with brisket, ribs and sausage. The brisket was so tender, it was perfect! The ribs were awesome and the sausage was great also. We had cole slaw, corn on the cob and potato salad for sides and these were great as well. The cole slaw was amazing! The sides were large also. It all tasted like Texas. If we lived in the area, we would definitely be eating here often. Very good BBQ for being outside of Texas. Had a family meal of brisket, Mac and cheese and coleslaw. Brisket was a combination of moist and lean. Very good smoke flavor but a little dry. The sauce wasn't our type as it seemed to have a lot of apple cider vinegar taste to me. Mac and cheese was very creamy. Coleslaw was very good as well. We saw this place online and decided to give it a try, it's right on the way to downtown. We ordered a 3 meat plate, which came with 2 sides. We chose brisket, pulled pork, and sausage (regular, but they also offer jalapeno!). For sides, we chose the potato salad and mac and cheese. We also got a order of chili cheese fries for the little one, and an order of fried okra. All of the food was outstanding! The meats were tender, moist, and delicious. Their bbq sauce has a lot of apple cider vinegar in it which paired perfectly with all the meat. The mac and cheese really hit the spot, and was popular with all 3 of us. The potato salad had a nice taste and was obviously homemade. The okra was insanely good as well! Once we were outside enjoying our meal, one of the employees came out and gave our little one some freshly baked cookies for free. What a nice surprise! After we finished our food, I made a trip back inside to thank them and get a piece of their $2 cobbler. I went for the blackberry, and it was out of this world! The perfect end to the perfect meal. The food is amazing, the people were friendly, it was fast and affordable. As soon as we got out of the car we could smell the smoker doing it's magic. While visiting Roswell, I had several opportunities to try a couple of locally-owned restaurants. For one lunch, I decided that BBQ ribs should be a good New Mexico dish. I went to La Sierra Mesquite Smoked BBQ and was happy to have decided on ribs. The 1/2 rack of baby back ribs were cooked to perfection: delicious, flavorful, tender. However, the amount of salt in the rub nearly overpowered the rest of the flavors. Since the salt was cooked into the ribs, I could not just omit the extra sauce. I was glad the I had ordered the coleslaw side as it and the ice water helped cut the salt taste. I was a bit surprised by the cost as it seemed quite high for the area and the casual nature of the restaurant. All in all, I think that many folks who are used to a lot of salt will really like this place. read more

10/10 would go back. After an 8 hour drive from Denver La Sierra hit the spot and filled my boyfriend and I's stomachs with lots of food left over too!
