I have mixed reviews regarding this establishment. Firstly, the server lacked in-depth knowledge…read moreabout wine, though they were familiar with the labels, which added an element of amusement. Secondly, the wine tasting options were limited solely to the bottles that were open, priced at 3 for $15, which was reasonable. However, for guests unfamiliar with the region, the presence of local vineyards may come as a surprise. I am aware that high desert areas can yield exceptional grapes, yet the experience did not adequately convey the origins, distinctions, or cultivation methods of the vineyard's grapes. As a winery, it is crucial to educate staff about the grape varieties offered and ensure they can address customer inquiries effectively. One staff member appeared annoyed by questions, while another was unable to provide answers but maintained a pleasant demeanor. Would I visit again to try the food? Sure, Being a chef it'll be interesting if they use the right pairing of the wines to enhance the food they serve. Menu looks amazing. But only can review the bar experience so far. **Reflections of a Traveling Chef: Expectations and Perceptions** In the world of culinary arts, especially when you're constantly on the move like a travel chef, managing expectations becomes a balancing act of its own. Our first interactions with new places and people often paint vivid pictures in our minds, for better or worse. I find myself guilty of overanalyzing initial encounters and reacting more strongly than perhaps warranted. This tendency was clear when I first dined at a restaurant where a server's attitude struck me as indifferent. At that moment, my expectations shifted into a montage of assumptions, casting a shadow over my experience. Yet, I realized later that perhaps, in my haste to judge, I had missed understanding the nuances that come with new environments and personalities--a lesson in perception that time and experience continue to teach. Returning to the same restaurant, I approached with a renewed perspective and sought to experience it anew, sans the baggage of past misjudgments. This time, the culinary offerings of beef Wellington bites and a green chili cream cheese appetizer opened my eyes to the finesse and creativity the establishment could offer. What stood out, however, was not just the food but the human element--Josh, who transformed an initially unpleasant experience into something unexpectedly delightful. Josh's efforts reminded me of the power a single individual holds in reshaping perceptions and the pivotal role attitude plays in hospitality. As I reflect, the lesson becomes clear: while our expectations can skew reality, our ability to embrace change and give second chances can lead to unexpectedly rewarding experiences.

They don't bother me at all, but we also had to shoo away them and especially flies which are sure annoying. I opted for a whole #9 turkey with black olives ($13). I am glad I did get chips, salad, or soup. It would have been too much for me. The avocado on my sandwich was a bit of a turnoff, having browned quite a bit. However, it was tasty. My oldest got a whole #12 BLT ($14). That thing had a ton of bacon strips which she didn't share. Lol. She at all of it. She had a cup of tomato basil soup which I thought was okay. Not my favorite. The lemon berry mascarpone cake ($7) was very delicious even though the cake part fell apart easily. Our waitress was friendly, but just a bit weird at times - like not handing me the receipt when I reached for it. She instead placed it further out in front of me. She just was in La La Land I guess. I would back for a lazy brunch with mimosas.

DLDR: Food is decent, service takes forever, and the beers are delicious…read more First time to GMBC and I'm going to try to have an open mind. This brewery is an oasis in Southern New Mexico. I can honestly say I could drink their brews daily as there is a wide range of IPA to almost Pils which should satisfy most folks. Beer = damn good! Ambiance is nice but simple. I can see that there might be a vision for branding and a local guitarist setting the tone. I'm all for it! It's a good idea but needs more application. Here's the problem: The service and wait times are very bad. Not the worst I've had, but it will 100% take you 30+ minutes to get a pizza plus wait time in line. To me, that is absolutely unacceptable. I don't have a problem with queuing in line for food and drinks but the speed needs to increase just to adhere to the vibe GMBC is trying to create; a Guadalupe Mountain Brewery that focuses on food, family, and beer. About the pizza, promising an open mind here, it's ok. Again, an oasis in a Domino's wasteland. But Dominos fully cooks their pizzas. I am 100% a pizza snob. I give these pies 2.5/5. Far too many toppings and a pale crust. Less toppings, more heat, more experience from the BOH staff. The pies are not cooked long enough as the cheese is clumpy and uneven and the toppings (veggies mainly) are huge, undercooked and the pizza was served nearly cold! Great portions but poor bake as they prioritize "speed" over making a good pizza. If you have never had a delicious slice, this is a solid step in the right direction. If you are used to professionals creating quality food, you will be disappointed. Still, don't shy away from this brewery as you can have a good (quite long) time as the beers are fairly priced and food will satisfy you. Absolutely throwing shade to the queso which is just canned Queso brand with crappy chips. I might add that the queso came with a hair in it but was slowly rectified by a server that I had to flag down. Ultimately, why should I wait so long in line for food that is minimum standard and is amateurish? Because I'm in Carlsbad, NM and there isn't competition to incentivize this place to be better. I want them to be better because I plan on making this a solid pit stop in the future. Keep up the good work, but continue to improve.

It was good, but my God it was salty lol I was a bit sad in the amount of anchovies that were on the pizza as well. Was hoping for a good amount Had a mead before the meal that was tasty as well, just not a fan of the half pour, since it's treated like a wine. My friend got the 3 taco plate. She loved it. Lot of meat on tacos, very tender, & really juicy. She liked the option between the 2 sauces for her chips. SERVICE- The bartender did a great job though. Very attentive to EVERYONE in her area. The door girl was the opposite lol maybe a bad day for her, idk, but just a lack of giving a F, if you know what I mean haha AMBIANCE- Nice. A pretty awesome patio too. Front room is a bit crowded though, since the bar is very small. Lot of room in the back though for eating, & then the connected distillery has plenty of room for the drinkers

We had Coreys Fav and the Sweet and Spicy, both were really great. Flavors are good and the crust is nice. Seating wasn't bad, weather was great for a late June day, the large doors were open in the seating area, a nice breeze blowing. ... some really nice ambience. Where this goes horribly south is the LARGE automatic gratuity that they decided to impose on us because we had 7 adults and 1 infant at the same table, even tho we came in 3 separate groups and paid as 3 separate groups. 20% they wanted to charge us, not the state define 15%. Both of which I think is both unethical and not right in any way, as a gratuity is supposed to be based on the level of service received and not as an automatic supplement because the business doesn't want to pay the employees adequate wages. The service we received WAS NOT worth anywhere near even the 15% the state recommends. The server takes the order, and delivers the order, the same as any fast food chain. We had to get our own water and drinks. They don't stop to ask if we want anything else, refills, more cider/beer, desert, NOTHING! Yet they want to auto bill a gratuity of 20% for services that are NOT rendered. We did talk to the server, and he said that's how it was and there was nothing he could do. So we asked for the manager. She finally came and said she could remove it but it would take a while. However, all she did was provide a discount to lower the price to "compensate" for the gratuity, which wasn't a total discount, as it was still 88 cents more than the original bill, AND the auto gratuity was still in the bill! Ok, guess who didn't get any extra tips. So this server got his normal hourly rate, we were there roughly an hour, as well as an additional $30 + in auto gratuity to simply take an order and have someone else deliver it, he did absolutely nothing else for us to earn that level of gratuity. Keep in mind, we were NOT a group of 8 as the small print on the menu states. This was very aggravating and very unprofessional.
