Walked into Naperville mini five years ago and bought my dream car...no problems until a rock went into the radiator...year later to the day another rock in the radiator. Both happened on the interstate. Googled the problem, apparently it is a problem that mini coopers have... guess because the radiator is not fully covered. So yes after the second time of this happening to me...being stranded on the interstate three hours from my home and two hours from my destination, in 90 degree weather on a holiday weekend I was very upset...as any woman or man would be!! Do not recommend this dealer. They are nonexistent after sale. I came test drive the car early afternoon and closed the deal. But after that their whole team seems disappeared. I tried calling, emailing, left voice messages, trying to track the warranty documents that I need, and I got zero response. They are horrible. Brought the car back in 10 days after paying $8k for a buffet of repairs. One of the major issues had started up again. That particular repair was $1400. Brought the car back in explaining the problem had started again. Apparently there is no communication between employees of the service department. Car was re-diagnosed with the same problem and we were told it would be another $1400. Explained that this was not a new problem and that the car had seemed to be fixed when we picked it up but then started having the same issue. Service man "got the price down to $800 for you". No, how about you fix it for free since we already paid you $1400 for that repair. GM was rude, condescending and said it was our fault for "driving away with the car". Um....we thought it was fixed. Absolutely insane, combative GM, hurling insults and basically saying, too bad, you paid for it an drove it away, that is your problem. He also said this has never happened before. Ok. Wow I'll try not to make this long. So I had a 2014 mini that needed service. Mitch and company told me to come in. Finds out I needed a censor 2400. Ok no big deal. I knew I needed it. So then I get a text message saying I needed more service. Finally total came to $4800. Something like that. I'm irritated but say fine and confirm in my text message. I come to pick up my car. Two weeks later car overheats. Take it back. 2k for that pay it while waiting 15 mins later tell me " when a car over heats we look at over things ". Y didn't you do that the first time when I told you before the other charge) so they have me pay an additional 1800. Ridiculous rip offs. Also, got another mini. Set up spot for oil change. These people had is wait 6 hours. Even though I had an appt. Since I was off work I didn't mind well today I had an appt for 9:30 am. They come back and you guessed it " we are backed up " really!?! Then y was I able to book an appt 5 days ago. Now it's my fault you're backed up!! This place is a joke and I will steer clear of ANY bill Jacob's places. Scammers and schemers in my opinion. Why would anyone drive from Charlotte, North Carolina to Naperville, Illinois to purchase a vehicle: Because of the incredible service the Bill Jacobs family of dealerships provides their customers. As a former auto salesman for over 30 years, and Salesman of the Year multiple times at three different dealerships, I know what exemplary service looks and feels like, and it's what I hold others to. I moved from Chicago in late 2019, and I didn't get the service I was looking for at a very well-known dealer in Charlotte that sells Minis, the vehicle I was looking to purchase. I am still waiting for a call from my salesperson, or a text or email, thanking me for my purchase of a car from them late in 2020. They never reached out to thank me, or ask how my car was doing, or to wish me a happy birthday or on my car's anniversary. Knowing that, I wasn't surprised how I was taken care of when my lease was up and I wanted to order a 2024 Mini convertible from them. Explaining to the manager I was in the car business for a long time and what I was hoping for, I was treated like someone walking in off the street that didn't know a car from an airplane. They were trying to take me to the cleaners, and I could tell they didn't care about earning my business, and I heard much of the same from people I know in Charlotte about this particular dealer. They have practically no competition and it shows. That's where Bill Jacobs in Naperville comes in. I had a friend working at the BMW store, Bill Earnest, who I not only admired, but wished I was as good at in sales. He treats his customers like gold and knows the product as well as anyone I have ever met in the car business. I reached out to him about ordering a Mini. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to help me because of being with BMW, but he reached out to the Mini manager and told him I was a good friend of his and asked him to take care of me. The manager reached out and said he would have a salesperson get in touch with me within the next day or two. That's when I had the pleasure of speaking with Jed Kuefler. He had been selling Mini's for a few years, but his professionalism was far ahead of his years in the business. I would say he was great to work with, but that wouldn't be giving him the kudos he deserved. I talked to him about the build I wanted for my Mini convertible, and we talked back and forth a few times regarding the numbers and what I was looking for in terms of ordering it. I wasn't even his customer yet when Jed texted me the day before my birthday and said he wanted to be the first person to wish me a happy birthday. (He was.) I got a birthday wish from him before I was even an official customer and never received any contact from my previous salesperson. Long story short, Jed made the numbers work for me because he listened, and that's so important for a salesperson. He got me exactly where I wanted to be, and I knew I was in good hands with the order, as he also accommodated me regarding when I wanted to pick the vehicle up since I didn't want to drive to Chicago in January or February. In the meantime, I also received an email from Mike Adler, the general manager of the dealership. I had never met him, yet he reached out to make sure the manager and salesperson took good care of me and if I needed anything, to reach out to him and he would be there for me. Now, that's customer service. Jed let me know my Mini had arrived, and I let him know when I would come to pick it up. Bill introduced me to Jed, since I never met him before and helped make sure everything went smoothly. Of course, with Jed at the helm, everything was wonderful, from the look of my new Mini, to everything that was supposed to be there being there, and he's the nicest guy and a true professional wise beyond his years. He went over everything in the vehicle, and set up some things I asked him to for me. I was amazed at how great he was, and I already knew how fantastic a salesman Bill Earnest is. Bill also introduced me to the GM, Mike Adler, who obviously cares about his customers and doesn't just view them with dollar signs. I am loving my new metallic white 2024 Mini Convertible S, and I have just one thought for anyone reading this. If Bill Jacobs sells the vehicle you are looking for, why would you even think of going anywhere else? I took my countryman in for what I thought was a regular maintenance last week. The service was great. Mike was super patient in explaining what exactly they were doing for each maintenance item. But how much does everyone spend for their maintenance in general? I thought it was going to be a couple hundreds, but I was charged more than nine hundred dollars for their labor alone. Should I pick up some mechanics knowledge and do these items myself in the future (this sounds like joking but I am quite serious)? Also they did not fill my tank like other reviews mentioned. Stay away from the service department. They are inept, dramatically overcharge, and take zero responsibility for their "repairs" if you can call it that. I've had to take these guys to court to get them to perform the work they were paid more than $3,500 to do. Believe it or not, their "work" caused my engine to become inoperable. Avoid at all costs. Because it will cost you twice when you go here: The first cost will be what you pay; and the second cost will be when their failed work costs you further damage down the road. Horrid. My wife and I have purchased two Minis over the course of almost ten years from Bill Jacobs Mini. Our second Mini had a thermal event which regretfully caused the car to be a total loss. No one was hurt. Other cars were also destroyed along with some damage to a home. We had insurance but we did lose equity since we put a large down payment on the car and had 20 on time payments. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but it may have been due to a malfunctioning engine component. Billl Jacobs understood our situation. We just bought a car 20 months ago and after having a baby, this was not the ideal time for a new car. Brian arranged for a rental while the ongoing investigation ran it's course. He also directed us to staff at Bill Jacobs BMW because we were not comfortable driving Minis in the future. I believe our situation was incredibly rare and for those who are interested in the fun cars that Mini has to offer, we would suggest going to Bill Jacobs. I've been a customer of their service department since 2009 when I purchased my Mini and have not taken it anywhere else for service. That is changing after my latest trip to the service department. Brought my car in for an engine issue and was told I need to replace a specific part to fix the issue. Fine, part is replaced and guess what the issue still persists which calls for another trip into the service department to fix the issue that should have been corrected the first time. I'm told it would be 3k to fix the issue I asked if they could work with me on the price and the advisor said he would see what he could do. So after giving the ok for the repair it was radio silence no estimate of when the repair would be completed nothing. That is until I get the invoice via a text, thanks for the heads up. So was the advisor able to work with me on the cost of the repair -no - but the repair did come in several hundred dollars more than I was quoted. When I questioned the amount I was told it was due to sales tax. Well, according to Illinois law you cannot charge tax on labor. They did adjust the amount to what I was originally quoted but who knows who else they have been trying to overcharge by taxing the labor cost. Sorry but unfortunately you have lost any further business from me. read more

We went today to get my mini scheduled service and our technician was Aldo Huerta. Everything was going great until Aldo had to do his job. He never introduced himself, he never good morning and he was the most condescending person!! Ill-prepared, no knowledge of his own product, smart mouth, and didn't even offer an apology!! My car buying experience was great until the very end. My test drive and all the conversations I had with Shyann my sales person were amazing, she was knowledgeable and friendly, she answered all of my questions and really made me feel like I could see myself in a mini for the next 10 years of my life or more. She was absolutely incredible. The experience soured for me with April in the finance department. She was very obviously trying to sell me on the upgraded maintenance packages, which drastically changed the payments I had worked with Shyann on just hours before. April felt cold and fake friendly, like she was trying to make me feel unsafe and uncomfortable in my brand new car without spending an extra $200 a month on my payments, but she did so with the sickest smile on her face and truly made me not want to buy the car that I loved. A word of advice to the dealership and finance department, I understand that sales people aren't trained and versed with the products covered in maintenance but a heads up when the process started would have drastically changed my experience and my opinion of this dealership. Overall, I can't recommend Shyann enough, but I wish the dealership would change their process to be more upfront from the beginning. read more

Several issues went wrong with my purchase. First, They failed to pay the state of Wisconsin the taxes I paid to them so I got a bill from the state to pay the taxes AGAIN. Had to chase that down and finally got them to pay it. They OVERCHARGED me for the maintenance plan they offered me. They had agreed to sell me the plan at a discount as an incentive to take the car which had been sitting for a while. I let that one go at the time but now, I have been made aware that the maintenance plan they told me was good for three years from the purchase of my vehicle, isn't. They registered it as the date they GOT the vehicle. After speaking with several people at the dealership, I was told, sorry. The person who sold you that is no longer with the dealership so there's nothing we can do. Now I'm out 7 months of maintenance that I paid for. This business is dishonest. They lied, tried to cheat the tax system, and overcharged me. I want other consumers to be aware of their deceptive practices. read more

I highly recommend buying your Mini Cooper at Bill Jacobs Mini, I had a great car buying experience. Here's why. I was in the market for a used Mini Cooper, and I pretty much new which kind I wanted, with certain features, and within a certain price point. Bill Jacobs Mini had a great selection of cars to choose from, both new and used, or pre-owned if you prefer. That was the main reason why I drove the 30+ miles from Evanston so that I could see a few different options. Marina was my salesperson and she was fantastic. Super helpful over the phone when I first called to confirm if a few of the vehicles I saw advertised on their website, and other internet sites, were in fact still available and if they had the features as listed. Marina was prompt calling and emailing me back to answer my questions and then scheduled a test drive of a couple of the cars for me. When I arrived she was on time and had the cars ready to go. We took my 2ndchoice car out for a quick 5 minute drive, and while it was a great car that was another that I thought I would prefer. For that car she spent about an hour with me as I put the car through it's paces. I tried to check every feature I could think of. Acceleration, braking, steering, parking, turning, etc. We went through the controls of the vehicles windows, locks, infotainment, the various driving modes, etc. Then she let me take another 30 minutes or so walking around and looking under the vehicle. I'm not a mechanic, but I'm enough of an enthusiast that I wanted to look under the hood at the radiator, under the oil cap, around the wheel wells, all around the body. I tried to check everything and Marina never made me feel like I was being too picky and she never tried to rush me. I found a few minor items like a dislodged door seal and some moisture in a side turn indicator - things they said they'd fix that day for me. So my inspection process was great. It took a while, but that was because of my level of scrutiny. Once I determined that I was interested in the car, Marina and I negotiated the deal. This was not too complicated for a couple reasons. One, I think I'm a fairly educated buyer and two, Bill Jacobs Mini I think prices their vehicles fairly at the start. In today's world with the internet and services like Carvana and Carmax being able to draw cars from almost anywhere in the country it makes little sense to price the cars so high that nobody would bother to look at them. After the negotiation ended all that was left to do was to sign the paperwork. That did take some time, mostly because Bill Jacobs Mini shares a finance department with Bill Jacobs BMW next door. It's a large dealership so it got a bit backed up before I could get in, I think I had to wait about an hour for that. Of course they went through all the options on extended warranties and coverages, but I didn't mind because for some people that might sense and after a quick overview of the plans that were offered that salesman, Amir, never used any kind of high pressure tactics and tried to get all the paperwork signed as quickly as possible. I probably still took about half an hour. I should say, that while I was waiting for Amir to sign the paperwork I was able to spend most of that hour talking with their "Mini Genius" Vince who was awesome. Vince walked me through some more of the details of the car, we talked about the improvements that have been made in this now 3rd generation of Mini Cooper, and it really helped pass the time and was quite valuable. To top everything off, the Sales Manager Ronny was really a helpful guy. For example, I was renting a car until I could get into my own vehicle, and since the rental place was one of the large chain companies they had a location within a mile of the dealership. I wasn't going to be able to make it to the rental company before they closed, but the rental company agreed that I could leave the car with Bill Jacobs and they'd pick it up the next day. Ronny was really helpful in making me feel like that wasn't a problem to leave the car there and he'd make sure it got pick up. He also had the Mini Service Adviser, Dean, talk to me a bit about the car and showed me around their service department. In summary, while it was the specific car I found online that brought me out to Bill Jacobs Mini it was the great sevice that really made the car buying experience so enjoyable. I hope to be in this car for a while, but when the time comes for another vehicle I will certainly keep Bill Jacobs in mind and I recommend you give them a try. read more

This time I built my mini with Rachel and ordered it from the factory. Rachel called me every week to update me on the status of my order and let me know where my Mini was in the process. I was told it would take 8 weeks to get it built from scratch and it was actually at the dealership in only 6 weeks. Two weeks early! What an awesome surprise. I live about 3 hours away from Bill Jacobs but I always use their service department for all my service on the car. They have a hiker service where someone from the dealership actually drives down to my house and picks up my mini to take it to get the oil changed. The best part is they give me a new mini to drive while they have mine. A week later my mini is back to me safe and sound. Love the mini brand and love this dealership. First off, MOST people leave negative comments/reviews because that's what people will only make a fuss about. Think of the many happy customers with no complaints that just never posted on here to vent. Anyway, I had a 2005 Mini Cooper S Convertible that I bought from a used dealership. After repairs, I decided to trade it in for a new one. Dean has been my service advisor and has gone above and beyond for me. Dean will continue to be my service advisor with me new car. His communication and help has been great. Dana was my salesperson. She was VERY friendly and personal. She makes you feel comfortable. This dealership isn't like other dealerships that are sharks. Dana asked me what I wanted, offered help, and many options. I did not feel pressured into anything. The buying process was VERY smooth. I've bought many cars in the past and I never had a great experience like this. Dana was very knowledgable with everything. Answered all my questions. One thing that shocked me was they FILLED my gas tank! Dealerships don't do that anymore since the recession. That used to be the expectation before and I was expecting to walk out with a quarter tank. NOPE, not here. I usually hate the dealership, "buying game", going back and forth thing. I use to be a car salesman years ago so I know what to expect, cause I played the game myself. Lol. Not here though. Mike and Dana were beyond helpful and reached my goals in buying my new car. She had me sit in the car and start it. She started to do the proper delivery. I had to stop her and compliment her on that. I was impressed she was doing a proper delivery. Customer service has really turned for the worst in the past several years. So again, I was impressed. Dana, went through every button and option on the car. Showed me things I didn't even know existed. (I thought I knew everything about the car). She even showed me the hood lever and opened the hood. All around great delivery and awesome knowledge of the car. She even set up my phone for the Bluetooth technology in the car. Like I said, above and beyond. I even received an email from her the next day letting me know I can contact her anytime with questions. The follow up and communication is great. Dana deserves a lot of credit there in Sales. Typical dealer shenanigans here. We purchased our 2009 Mini here and it was not without frustrations. They somehow suckered us into putting down a $500 deposit on a Cooper, and when we later wanted out of that deal they kept telling us they would or had credited it back, but they never had even attempted to. We finally came to an agreement on a car and when we showed up for it they didn't want to accept the financing we'd arranged with our own company and kept insisting that we fill out a credit application. Again, we threatened to walk. We should have bought the car elsewhere. Other issues have included: Once while our car was here for service, they chipped the paint in the door. After we pointed it out they said they'd fix it, but they did a pretty shoddy job of it. I didn't pay a bunch of money for a car to have them treat it like crap. On one occasion we took the car in for service and left it there. A few days before we'd walked out to our car in some parking lot and found a beer can behind the tire. I didn't want to run over it and it was flat and dry and I threw it in the trash bin in my car and didn't think about it again. When we picked it up for service, the beer can was ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. Why were they going through my trash, first of all? I'll definitely empty it myself in the future in case there are any credit card receipts. And secondly, it was pretty clear that they just assumed we were driving around drinking and leaving it like that was pretty uncalled for. Finally...Regularly when our car is in for it's normal, covered, maintenance they try to talk us into having this or that done. Service guy "Your Mini needs XXX and YY done it's going to be $___" Husband "It's not covered by the maintenance package?" Service guy "No, it's not recommended by the manufacturer, just the dealership" Husband "So it's not really necessary?" Service guy "No" Pass. But telling them no wasn't good enough, as they continue to call my house and leave message about the recommended service items. I like my car, but should we decide in the future to get another Cooper, we'll try a different dealership. read more

I was interested in a Mini that was available in WI, and I was told that for a $500 down payment they could have the car down that day for me. Well it seems that the sales rep spoke without checking to see if it was ok with his boss, because he could not get me the car. He then tried to sell me on other Minis on the lot. I made it clear that I was only looking for a stick Turbo S in black. I ended up calling MINI of Tinley Park and they got me the car the next day with no $500 down payment. read more

I purchased a used Mini Cooper. The car had some body damage so I negotiated $300 off the asking price. They agreed to my offer but then added a $300 "insurance package" to the sales ticket. I asked the sales person what the insurance was for and she could not explain it to me. She agreed to take it off. So if you buy from them be careful that they do not try to rip you off with bogus charges. read more
