I've been going to Naper Auto Works ever since I moved to Naperville in 2016. It's always hard to find a good mechanic, but I would have to say they have very honest mechanics, they will give you options on what you can fix and in regards to what our most critical items to fix versus things that could be held off for a while. Most recently, I brought my Xterra in for an unusual noise. It was making when I was backing up and turning my steering wheel to the right. They actually came out and said to me that they they must've overlooked it last time. My vehicle was in, which was a few weeks prior and they were going to not charge me for that. They took accountability from missing that were any other mechanic could've just charged me a fee for something like that. They are very honest mechanics and they've been established in Naperville for a very long time. They may not be the cheapest, but you pay for quality work and the guys who work there in the front desk area are great! read more

Fast, efficient, and honest. Fixed the door and power steering pump and guaranteed them for 2 years. Highly recommended and I will be back. Thank you! read more

Our daughter brings her car here we had some problems with our 2020 Hyundai Kona leaking fluid rattles didn't want to bring it back to the dealer turns out it was a blown head gasket cooling system issue needed new battery oil change filter rotors surfaced etc yes expensive however seems to be very fair considering everything wrong with our vehicle had upon inspection.... will definitely return in the future read more

Jim Hess has been around for 50 years and his experience shows. Naper auto works has had loyal customers for years and years and years because of Jim's experience caring for the Naperville community. He has a great staff with solid workers like Trevor, Angel, and Robert. If you want 50 years of experience working on your car, bring it to Naper Auto Works. read more

When it comes to auto mechanics, I look for two things one talent and the second is trustworthiness. This place has it both.

I've been bringing my cars to NAW for more than 15 years. I have never been disappointed. And consider that I work on my cars myself whenever I can. I know good wrenching and honest prices. You get both of those plus quality parts and speedy, predictable service. Bring your car over to this team. They will treat you right and get your car back on the road. read more

Great service and good prices. I have been going to them for years and they always deliver. Robert is awesome.

It's amazing that Naper Auto Works has been open since 1077 (I believe). Not many auto repair shops can say that. In my opinion, they are a Naperville icon. It has been a while since I have been in for service. Some of the faces have changed over the years but the friendliness, honesty, and knowledgeable service advisors at the front desk are still just as they have been since the 70's. They are always happy to spend time answering your questions, listen to your concerns, and will not steer you wrong. Forget the "chain" store upsells. If a service advisor is told by the service tech of a service code that you did not expect from a diagnostic check, they will come and talk to you about it, and what they recommend. They do not come to you with a bunch of greasy parts! They do not shove a repair down your throat. If you elect to come back for the service another time, they will be happy with that and note it on the computer. When you return, they are ready to go. For me, If they tell me about a service code, I trust they will work with me to look into a service code problem. On a side note, I have a OBD2 code reader. So I am fairly prepared when I come in. This shop has always hit it perfectly and has never tried to tell me there are more codes than there are. If there are none, they say you are good to go! I highly recommend Naper Auto Works. I have never worked there. I have no personal knowledge of the owner or any employees. This is my honest review. read more

Les G. 10-31-24 I've been with Naper Auto Works [NAW] for 20 years. Todays service experience is just one more reason why I do business there. My issue today dealt with one of Illinois' Emission Testing Facilities where they incorrectly failed my test. I immediately went to NAW to determine the problem. NAW found the problem quickly and helped me receive a corrected "PASS" test result from the Illinois facility. NAW will never fail you. read more

I experienced another great service experience with Naper Auto Works. Seamless scheduling with great communications with texts providing vehicle updates and when it was completed. Great experience as usual. read more

I've been serviced my cars at Naper Auto Works for ten years. The service team has performed everything from oil changes to brakes to belt replacements. I appreciate that they track all my service and tell me when it is time to think about more detailed annual service so my cars perform well and are reliable. I love the ability to drop my car off the night before. I trust their honesty and appreciate their support and am willing to pay a bit extra to get it. read more

Fair prices and excellent work. Service desk takes time to explain repairs in detail. Have had many cars serviced here for several decades. read more

Great diagnostics report! I took my 1999 Jeep grand Cherokee to Naper Auto to have a priority list of items that needed to be urgently fixed. They were very professional and provided me a detailed diagnostic report prioritizing items for me. It was a great help so I knew the list of items that were a safety issues that needed to be fixed right away. They also knew that I had received some repairs from another auto shop as I keep a binder of my past work orders. This is what really set this place apart from others. They suggested that I double check with the other auto shop if there were any under warranty to save me money. It was definitely worth my time to take my Jeep to Naper Auto. The diagnostics report alone was exceptional and allowed me to easily see certain repairs that needed to be done. It had pictured summaries of the listed items. Super helpful I wouldn't hesitate taking my car back to Naper Auto read more

These guys are consistently fantastic - for both the quality of workmanship and their customer service. They really knowledgeable, honest and very helpful and every experience with them has been positive. Recently, Trevor and Robert went above and beyond handling something for me. They really stand behind their work. I highly recommend Naper Auto Works. read more

These guys are by far one of the best shops around for anything auto related. They have been servicing my 6 work trucks and 2 personal cars for over 20 years with amazing customer service. About 2 months ago I was moving from MN to FL and my car was having troubles on my stop in Naperville. Their shop was about to close in an hour and they got me in that evening right away. They were able to fix my car before close and I made it all the way to Florida with no troubles. It's a much longer story lol but I can't say enough how wonderful and kind the men are that work here. read more

I drove past here many times and always noticed many, many cars stacked up for service. A good sign usually. Word usually gets around you know. Anyway, I have brought two of my cars here recently for parts that need replacing. Both times I felt they did a decent, honest, and fair job. On one I needed a ball joint replaced, and on the other I needed to have calipers replaced where the piston edge was falling apart. (What the hell?) Happy with both repairs. Not all places deal honestly with you, but these guys do. read more

Outstanding service!!! Always on time and done right. Oil Change $32.95 read more

Robert has always taken care of us. Honest, friendly and reliable. We would highly recommend these guys.

I've tried a lot of auto shops around the area, this is the best, period. They are really good at what they do, and their communication is top notch. Took my Sonata in with a number of issues, and they reviewed, explained, and fixed everything in a reasonable time and a fair price. I finally feel I can get many more miles out of my car now. Naper Auto Works is my go to from now on. read more

Enjoyed the experience of taking my new Mercedes SL-500 to NAPERVILLE AUTO REPAIR. Trevor was honest about work to be done after initial diagnosis, which was posted to nice, tech oriented personal webpage about my car. Really liked the shuttle service to pick up my car. A competitor of theirs in Naperville off Ferry Road failed to return my phone call for an appointment. read more

I bring my three cars here for all their maintenance for several years now. Most of the time I deal with Bill at the service counter. He's professional and has always a good perspective on when what maintenance and repair is needed. It's very hard to find a shop and a mechanic to trust but Bill made me a loyal customer. read more

not a friendly place for woman seeking repairs, condescending and rude when describing repairs. Will not be coming back

Nothing but EXCELLENCE from these folks. Finally I have found a place where my family's car needs are in good hands. They care. And they are kind. read more

No nonsense, didn't try to up-sell me. They even texted me pics of things that may need to be addressed down the road. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Had an oil leak and they fit me in right away.

We've used Naper for years because we trust them to do the job right at a fair price. If you bring the car in and Jim sees that you have an active warranty, rather than doing the work himself, he'll get your car to the dealer so the work is done free (happened with our daughter's catalytic converter). I really appreciate that they work with Naperville Cares car program to get vehicles to people in true need. We donated our car this way rather than selling it used. Supporting the community and trustworthy service, what more do you want? read more

I cannot say enough about how good this place is. I took my Ford Fusion there to have it checked out before I had to have the emissions tested and they not only solved the problem, they also took it for me to have the emissions test done and it passed. Saved me an hour of my time! Exceptional customer service! I never feel that they are trying to upsell me or take advantage. It doesn't have the feel of place that would charge extra just because they can to women. Great Place - Thank YOU!!!! read more

These guys are simply amazing. My experience with them is phenomenal and sets a high bar when it comes to finding mechanics who are expedient, knowledgeable and most of all, Trustworthy. I'm definitely appreciative of cars and have been a fan since I was a boy. The fact that other Napervillians trust a 70's Cadillac Eldorado (I saw it in one of the service bays) as well as Triumphs, Fiats and other hot little 2-seaters (saw thise in the service bays too) to Naper Auto Works speaks volumes to me. I have an older car that needed a water pump. They took it in, Bing, Bang, Bonk! I got it back the same day and have been driving around town with a pretty big smile. Efficient, fast and Less than I anticipated paying! Naper Auto Works has a raving fan in me. Thanks Bill and the crew! You're my first call when it comes to my cars! read more

Second post I got a call from the owner admitting to their error and willing to do whatever it took to satisfy me. I requested he reduce the charge down to $450 within the original estimate and he agreed. It was clearly a mistake on their part and mistakes happen. I did not take him up on his offer because his willingness to do it is what matters, it was a mistake in their quoting me and the work was done to my car. Thank you for caring enough to reach out and offer to do whatever it took to correct the situation. First post I told them my make, model and year of vehicle and asked for brake job estimate. Was told $350-$450 depending on rotor condition. I chose them to fix the brakes and told them I had to have the car back that day for a trip in morning. I even dropped car off the night before and got a call at 11:30 am that the rotors were fine but cost would be $680. Double the estimate. I had no choice given I needed the car back that day. They did reduce the cost to $580 but I still believe they quoted low to get the job and knew I needed the car and had no choice. The excuse was that my car has more complex brakes. I gave them complete details of my vehicle before they quoted me. read more

great service, good value and highly recommended. We dropped off our car late Sunday evening and bill called us early Monday morning with inspection report and estimate. Our automobile was ready early afternoon and kept warm inside to be picked up. read more

I recently had my Sienna van breakdown out of no where. Car was running well just prior to it stalling. Towed it in. They took a look and it was a simple fix. They always look for the most cost effective solutions given the age of car etc. They don't try to sell you unnecessary repairs. Same day I was picking up the van my Camry broke down. Swapped one car for the other and within a day the Camry was working as well. Great mechanics! Great customer service! We return time after time! read more

Jim is a stand-up guy. I called with a broken-down vehicle in my home garage in Naperville. He came out to personally assess the situation, and Naper Auto Works fixed the issue same-day. This is the second time in the last couple of months that his team has gottten me out of a jam. They're excellent communicators and straight shooters. As a bonus, they're members of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce and are involved members of our local community. Highly recommend. read more

Called to see if I could stop in for an oil change. I asked him if I could come right over now (at 5:05 pm) The gentleman on the phone said "Sure!" I mentioned I had the Yelp $25.00 for $50.00 deal. As soon as I mentioned the deal he told me they didn't have anyone there that can do it now, however they advertise that they are open until 6:00 pm Poor customer service in my opinion. I went to Firestone who took me right away. I wouldn't recommended this place. read more

I've had my routine maintenance done here several times now, and I totally recommend this place! Online appointment request is a great feature. I've always gotten prompt service and honest feedback about what does, does not, and will soon need to be done on my cars. Thankfully I haven't needed anything too major lately, but when it inevitably happens I will definitely bring them here. read more

These guys are the best. Decent pricing and honest mechanics. Plus they will drive you home and pick you up if you live close.

The mechanic on duty drove my vehicle and got a feel for what I thought was going on with my car. He was very knowledgeable-both in general and about my specific make/model, as well as honest with me. They didn't try to sell me something that I didn't need, and I am grateful for that. I received an estimate for work that is not extremely urgent, and I can see myself coming back here to get it done. read more

Stopped in to this shop as I've seen good reviews online. Had a concern over my brakes and the brake pedal. They took the car on multiple test drives, found a small leak and took care of it promptly. Wasn't pressured into anything I didn't truly need. The other reviews are spot on with this shop. I will be bringing my cars back here from now on. Thanks guys read more
