I've been going to Naper Auto Works ever since I moved to Naperville in 2016. It's always hard to find a good mechanic, but I would have to say they have very honest mechanics, they will give you options on what you can fix and in regards to what our most critical items to fix versus things that could be held off for a while. Most recently, I brought my Xterra in for an unusual noise. It was making when I was backing up and turning my steering wheel to the right. They actually came out and said to me that they they must've overlooked it last time. My vehicle was in, which was a few weeks prior and they were going to not charge me for that. They took accountability from missing that were any other mechanic could've just charged me a fee for something like that. They are very honest mechanics and they've been established in Naperville for a very long time. They may not be the cheapest, but you pay for quality work and the guys who work there in the front desk area are great! read more

Our daughter brings her car here we had some problems with our 2020 Hyundai Kona leaking fluid rattles didn't want to bring it back to the dealer turns out it was a blown head gasket cooling system issue needed new battery oil change filter rotors surfaced etc yes expensive however seems to be very fair considering everything wrong with our vehicle had upon inspection.... will definitely return in the future read more

It's amazing that Naper Auto Works has been open since 1077 (I believe). Not many auto repair shops can say that. In my opinion, they are a Naperville icon. It has been a while since I have been in for service. Some of the faces have changed over the years but the friendliness, honesty, and knowledgeable service advisors at the front desk are still just as they have been since the 70's. They are always happy to spend time answering your questions, listen to your concerns, and will not steer you wrong. Forget the "chain" store upsells. If a service advisor is told by the service tech of a service code that you did not expect from a diagnostic check, they will come and talk to you about it, and what they recommend. They do not come to you with a bunch of greasy parts! They do not shove a repair down your throat. If you elect to come back for the service another time, they will be happy with that and note it on the computer. When you return, they are ready to go. For me, If they tell me about a service code, I trust they will work with me to look into a service code problem. On a side note, I have a OBD2 code reader. So I am fairly prepared when I come in. This shop has always hit it perfectly and has never tried to tell me there are more codes than there are. If there are none, they say you are good to go! I highly recommend Naper Auto Works. My issue today dealt with one of Illinois' Emission Testing Facilities where they incorrectly failed my test. I immediately went to NAW to determine the problem. Great diagnostics report! I took my 1999 Jeep grand Cherokee to Naper Auto to have a priority list of items that needed to be urgently fixed. They were very professional and provided me a detailed diagnostic report prioritizing items for me. It was a great help so I knew the list of items that were a safety issues that needed to be fixed right away. They also knew that I had received some repairs from another auto shop as I keep a binder of my past work orders. This is what really set this place apart from others. They suggested that I double check with the other auto shop if there were any under warranty to save me money. It was definitely worth my time to take my Jeep to Naper Auto. The diagnostics report alone was exceptional and allowed me to easily see certain repairs that needed to be done. It had pictured summaries of the listed items. About 2 months ago I was moving from MN to FL and my car was having troubles on my stop in Naperville. Their shop was about to close in an hour and they got me in that evening right away. They were able to fix my car before close and I made it all the way to Florida with no troubles. I drove past here many times and always noticed many, many cars stacked up for service. A good sign usually. Word usually gets around you know. Anyway, I have brought two of my cars here recently for parts that need replacing. Both times I felt they did a decent, honest, and fair job. On one I needed a ball joint replaced, and on the other I needed to have calipers replaced where the piston edge was falling apart. (What the hell?) Happy with both repairs. We've used Naper for years because we trust them to do the job right at a fair price. If you bring the car in and Jim sees that you have an active warranty, rather than doing the work himself, he'll get your car to the dealer so the work is done free (happened with our daughter's catalytic converter). I really appreciate that they work with Naperville Cares car program to get vehicles to people in true need. We donated our car this way rather than selling it used. I cannot say enough about how good this place is. I took my Ford Fusion there to have it checked out before I had to have the emissions tested and they not only solved the problem, they also took it for me to have the emissions test done and it passed. Second post I got a call from the owner admitting to their error and willing to do whatever it took to satisfy me. I requested he reduce the charge down to $450 within the original estimate and he agreed. It was clearly a mistake on their part and mistakes happen. I did not take him up on his offer because his willingness to do it is what matters, it was a mistake in their quoting me and the work was done to my car. Thank you for caring enough to reach out and offer to do whatever it took to correct the situation. First post I told them my make, model and year of vehicle and asked for brake job estimate. Was told $350-$450 depending on rotor condition. I chose them to fix the brakes and told them I had to have the car back that day for a trip in morning. I even dropped car off the night before and got a call at 11:30 am that the rotors were fine but cost would be $680. Double the estimate. I had no choice given I needed the car back that day. They did reduce the cost to $580 but I still believe they quoted low to get the job and knew I needed the car and had no choice. The excuse was that my car has more complex brakes. I gave them complete details of my vehicle before they quoted me. read more

This is the second time in the last couple of months that his team has gottten me out of a jam. They're excellent communicators and straight shooters. I recently had my Sienna van breakdown out of no where. Car was running well just prior to it stalling. Towed it in. They took a look and it was a simple fix. They always look for the most cost effective solutions given the age of car etc. They don't try to sell you unnecessary repairs. Same day I was picking up the van my Camry broke down. Called to see if I could stop in for an oil change. I asked him if I could come right over now (at 5:05 pm) The gentleman on the phone said "Sure!" I mentioned I had the Yelp $25.00 for $50.00 deal. As soon as I mentioned the deal he told me they didn't have anyone there that can do it now, however they advertise that they are open until 6:00 pm Poor customer service in my opinion. Stopped in to this shop as I've seen good reviews online. Had a concern over my brakes and the brake pedal. They took the car on multiple test drives, found a small leak and took care of it promptly. I told my daughter to get a new battery in her car. She went into Naper Auto Works by herself but I was on the phone listening. So instead of those guys supplying her with a battery, they told her she had an electrical problem that was draining the battery and that will cost $300 extra. They refused to change the battery unless she paid for the nonexistent Electrical problem. I told her to go somewhere else. These guys refused to put the battery in..... Battery was put in by Firestone and the car runs fine!!!! Don't go there unless you don't mind paying for unnecessary work! read more
