STAY AWAY!!! They either have no idea what they're doing or just bs their way thru when busy. Went in for a pre purchase inspection for a car I'm selling. Straight up just told my customer not to buy the car half way thru the inspection due to a severe "coolant leak" I was confused so I went and checked it myself in their parking lot. Turns out it was water from the ac condensation. Coolant reservoir was completely full and red in color. I have been going to Diehl Auto Repair for the last couple of years to both of their convenient locations in Downers Grove. I've never had repair work done from either of these locations while under previous ownership. I can tell you from the outside in and the inside out these guys are serious They give you better than dealer service at the highest level and provide you with an analysis before any work is done to your vehicle. First time I went for a flat tire they fixed it and it was flat within days again, so this means they did not do the job properly. Second time they fixed the brake master cylinder of my Lexus but it did not resolve the issue so they then changed the Calipers which fixed so this means they don't have a good diagnosis and its just trial and error shop, I had to pay for both fixes when it was just the Caliper fix that was needed. I recommend stay away from this Shop. It was my mistake I went to them second time seeing all 5 star reviews but now I know. read more

I went a ways to this business because it received top reviews from a number of people on nextdoor.com, I am new to the area, and my check engine light was on. They changed my oil and looked everything over, no problem. A week or two later, I noticed oil leaking at my parking spot, so I took it back. The mechanic showed me, under the car, how the oil pan must have scraped over something (like a high curb) and the valve had been pushed and scraped. My car has needed new brakes for a while, but I'd been putting off taking the car anywhere because I wasn't sure of the best place to take it. Thankfully I found Diehl Auto Repair. I scheduled an appointment and the day of the appointment dropped off the car right when they opened. Owner and front desk Superman AJ said he would call as soon as he knew details on what was needed (brake pads, rotors, calipers, etc.). He called within an hour of my drop off and explained the situation. I let him know what I wanted completed and what I needed to wait on, and he was very professional in not being pushy about anything that was not an immediately-needed repair. He was also very gracious in not making me feel embarrassed about how desperately my car needed new brakes! When I arrived to pick up the car just before they closed, Phil provided my paper statement showing what I'd been charged, the repairs done, and the recommendations for near future. To top it off, they had a Yelp coupon! I have found my go-to repair shop. No work done other than inspecting my van. I was sure I needed an alignment and maybe front end suspension after buying 4 new tires. They took their time, inspected everything and though my alignment was barely off, it was still within specifications, and suspension was all good. Basically they easily could have made a few hundred dollars or more but told me to wait a bit, no worries and it was likely my tires were simply bad tires! What great business ethics! I took my 2005 Honda in to replace my front brakes because they seemed a bit spongy and I hadn't had them replaced in a few years. Another well known repair shop told me I needed them replaced. I got a quote from Diehl which was lower than the other repair shop and took my car there. AJ called me an hour later and said the pads and rotors were fine and could last maybe another 10,000 miles. All I needed was a cleaning and adjustment. They work great now. They are very honest and knowledgeable I will be taking my cars there in the future. Would highly recommend them! read more

I am blown away by this repair shop. I live right by the Lisle location, but it is very busy (and I'm not surprised why!), so I have been going to the new Downers Grove location to service my car. These guys are good. In my experience, they diagnose the problem correctly the first time and the repair bill will be reasonable. I hate what it costs to maintain cars on things that I cannot fix myself (which is anything more complicated than adding oil). But everything is documented (part price, labor time, ancillary parts) so I never feel like I am getting screwed. I have taken my cars there numerous times and have never been sorry. Due to the positive reviews I brought my car in for an oil change and the reviews are spot on! AJ is really personable, knowledgeable and HONEST! Not typically something you find with auto repair facilities. I had a small accessory light out and AJ suggested I wait to have it replaced when one of my headlights goes out since the front bumper needs to be removed in order to get to it.
