I have a financial abyss known as an affinity for old Jeeps. When I was working in Naperville I always took my 1990 Grand Wagoneer and 1990 Wagoneer Ltd. to Jeremy because he does quality work. A mechanic will fight a stuck bolt, a parts changer will not. They are all mechanics there. Flash forward to last week. Been slowly getting a 2006 Jeep Commander up to daily driver status. Needed work I could not do because you absolutely had to have a lift. Made the two hour drive up to Jeremy, got there at opening, got there at 8am. I was the last one to leave at basically 6pm. He fought bolts that everyone said should have just come out because no rust on them. I don't think he charged me enough. I have some more work and will wait until next month to bring it up. Can't work him that hard twice in the same month. read more

Casey will also tell you when you can wait to fix certain things or when it's not worth the repair. Excellent, honest and didn't try to upsell me. My emission test failed and he started with a small repair. Cost me less than $100 and said often that would solve the issue. I took my car in for a front-end alignment. Got there about half an hour early for my appointment. After waiting over 2-1/2 hours, Casey, the manager, told me they were unable to do the alignment and that I owed them $30 for an inspection they performed that I did not authorize. He also told me they could repair the problems they found. I've heard about this game before. Instead of protesting, I paid the $30 they demanded just to get out of there. This place is the best. Absolute total professionals and 100% trustworthy. They service all of our cars and they do it for substantially less than other shops, and a fraction of what a dealership would charge. And they don't try to sell you on services that are not necessary. They recently replaced a stolen catalytic converter for us. They literally charged us $2,000 less than the Hyundai dealer. In addition, another one of our cars blew a lower engine and it needed to be replaced. Casey, the owner, told us that there was a court settlement that extended the warranty on the engine and that it was covered by the extended warranty. He was right and we got a brand new lower engine for free because of Casey. We won't go anywhere else. read more

I don't know who writes these reviews-probably a friend of theirs- but I would not recommend this shop at all. My daughter had a problem with her alternator and when I asked what they paid for the alternator vs what they charged they refused to say. That's because instead of the normal 20-25% markup they charged 100% markup. They were 70% higher than any other place I called for identical work. My 21 yr old daughter was taken advantage of. I wish I read an earlier review before I too came here for an alignment after recommendations from Discount Tire, especially after having recent suspension work. After the alignment, my car still had a bit of a pull to the right. I brought it to another auto shop (Honest 1 Auto) who pointed out the positive camber in the right front wheel. I rechecked the alignment results chart from the past alignment and the chart shows a negative camber!! There have been no other work performed on the car, and I'm pretty sure the wheel won't just migrate to a positive camber all by itself within a few months! Hmmm, something's not right... After they correct the alignment, I will not come back again, and I will also inform Discount Tire about my experience so they don't push any further recommendations. read more

I took my car there for an alignment after buying tires from Discount Tires. I also asked for my plugs to be changed and my valves checked. The work was completed in a very reasonable amount of time. They showed me the "before and after" specs on how they corrected the alignment. They didn't find any other problems needing repair in order to complete the alignment as I feared. They were also honest enough to not recommend any adjustment on my valves even though Honda recommends having them checked. I will take my car there in the future as I feel I can trust them to not rip me off for needless repairs. Plus they can handle all types of repairs from oil changes to transmissions. read more

I'm pretty disappointed with my first experience at Maximum Automotive. I had my 2017 Jeep Rubicon recently lifted and took the jeep to Maximum Automotive for an alignment due to the Jeep feeling "flighty". Casey who was the main rep knew VERY little about jeeps but insisted you always need an alignment 100% of the time after a lift and that was the cause for the flighty feeling. They took the jeep for a test drive and came back stating the wrong bolt was used on the track bar of the jeep. They asked for $100 more to check all the new lift kit bolts and said they can order new bolts right now for an additional fee. I declined and requested they to show me the "wrong bolt" that was used . Turns out it was a factory bolt, not the wrong bolt and it was just loose. Casey was incorrect and tried to get $100 Plus dollars of additional service out of me. I'm glad I asked to see the bolt. Took all of 3 seconds to tighten the bolt, however, Casey still insisted on doing the alignment. After the "work" Casey came back and said they adjusted things and I was good to go. I asked to see the alignment sheet prior to leaving. Nothing was adjusted. The tech even came in saying things were fine and no alignment was needed. $70 later I paid to have a tech tighten a bolt and Casey try to scam me out of more work than I really needed and changing bolts that did not need to be changed. I do not think I'll be back here and will be letting my Jeep friends know about this joke of a day. read more

Without a doubt the best car service and repair shop experience I've ever had. I recently noticed a concerning noise in the engine of my 2013 Elantra and, my parents being long time customers of Maximum Automotive, recommended I take my car there. Casey and his team test drove the car and quickly determined that an engine replacement was needed. Casey went the extra mile and discovered that my car was still under the manufacturer's warranty, so he recommended that I bring it to a local dealership to have the engine replaced instead. He also recommended that we hold off on the other repairs I thought I needed until the dealership inspected the car and confirmed the engine replacement would in fact be covered. The Maximum Automotive team was thorough, professional and honest and I'd recommend them to anyone who needs their car serviced. read more

Although they may need to order parts, they do a good job and stand behind their work. We are moving to Colorado and I'm really worried we aren't ever going to find mechanics like these again. I've taken my car to Maximum for the last five years. Every time I've taken my car in whether it was for a routine maintenance or for a phantom sound Jeremy, the owner, and the other mechanics are always polite, helpful, and explain whatever the problem is. They are always up front with charges and about how long it takes to fix the problem, provided there are no hiccups along the way. These guys are awesomely knowledgeable. Whenever I've had a problem with my car, they explained what was wrong, how it needed to be fixed, and how it impacts the drivability of my car. I know that whenever I need to take mine or my husband's car in, it is being taken care of as though it's their own. I've been using Maximum for over 13 years. Car repair, like everything else, is not perfect (occasionally a doctor will kill their patient), but I've had overall very positive experiences. When a repair is indicated is when I appreciate the kind of repair shop they are. Either the owner or manager will take the time to review the results of the diagnostic. As I don't have much extra $$ these days (like most people), they have always let me know 3 things....what needs to be fixed, what should be fixed, and what will need to be fixed and an approximate time frame. I've never gotten the feeling of being 'ripped off', and would recommend them, especially now people are keeping cars longer. 5-25-11....I wanted to add something. I had an oil change at Maximum last week, and mentioned some of the Yelp reviews. The owner told me that one of the poor reviews was written by a customer who owned an absolute clunker. This car, according to him should have been taken off the road over a year before the incidents and he advised the owner of the car. The car owner chose to not follow the recommendation, and like all good clunkers, parts went in succession. People go to reputable service providers (MD's, hospitals, dentists, orthodontists, furnace repair specialists, etc..because they trust their service provider. This reviewer chose to not trust this service provider, and got exactly what was predicted-the car rapidly deteriorated. read more

I have to be honest, we love Jeremy and the guys at Maximum Automotive. We have three cars, all old and one a classic. They take care of all of them like we are family and most importantly, they are a car repair place you can trust. They are not the cheapest place. You do get what you pay for though. I would never take a car anywhere else. We have never had to bring cars in repeatedly for the same repair If your car has hard to find parts, they know where to go also. Went to Maximum for a wheel alignment ($89) on the recommendation of Discount Tire, which does not do alignments. After having the car on the lift for a while, Jeremy informed me that I had several problems. He claimed I had a broken belt on one of my tires, but the major problem was a leaky left front strut. He stated I would need to replace both front struts ($700) before he could do an alignment. Oh, and I should replace the tire, too. I asked him to show me the evidence of his assessment. The car was still on the lift. He showed me the "uneven wear" on the outside edge of the left/front tire and compared it to the inside edge. I felt both areas. I'm no mechanic, but there was no difference. He also showed me some hairline cracks on the outer edge of the tire which he said were also caused by the broken belt. He then showed me the "leaking fluid" from the strut. I felt the "fluid" residue. I've never felt strut fluid, but I'm assuming it would have to have some of the properties of fluids like ATF, oil, brake, or hydraulic fluid, all of which I have experience with. This residue had no such feel, and felt like moisture kicked up from the road (it was snowing on my drive there.) I then felt the moisture on the right front (non-leaky) strut. Same watery feel as the left front. I told Jeremy I'd get back to him. The next day I went to Beckers (75th & Plainfield-Naperville Rd.) and did not tell them about Maximum's diagnosis. Got a wheel alignment, they corrected the toe on the right front wheel, no claim of a leaky strut or worn tire, in-and-out in an hour. I told a friend who spent 15 years in the tire industry about Maximum's evidence of the "broken belt." He described the true signs of a broken belt (and noted that they are relatively unusual these days.) He certainly did not recommend that I replace the tire or the strut. I won't tell you what he really said. I have lived in Naperville for 24 years and have had various cars serviced at Naper Auto Works, Our Team, Certified, DJ's, and others, always based on recommendations of friends. Maximum has been in business 20 years - how come I've never heard of them? Sorry Maximum. I'm not as dumb as I look. read more

I used to be their customer for couple years until one time, after I fixed a car in there no more than 4 months, the problem come back again, they used a bad parts and ended up I need to pay another 200 hundred dollars for the labor cost! That's ridiculous! And I have to say they do not do a good job on repair or use a cheap parts since the problem always go back after a year later, it's the way to quick need to repair again! Whenever dealing with auto shops, I think most non-mechanically inclined people are conditioned to believe we'll get misled or overcharged. I definitely did not get that feeling at Maximum. Their rates are high vs. other shops in Naperville, but they did the job as they said they would, no grief. The only issue/minor tweak in my comments I have is, when I called to ask about a new sound, post their repair, they were quick to point out they'd charge me $30 to diagnose the problem, even though I was pretty sure it was related to the repair. When it turned out to be related to their repair, they didn't charge me the $30. And, they were very thorough in helping me understand what they were up to. I brought my sons car here and its a German car so its very expensive to repair. I went in for a tune up and after it was put on the rack I was told the control arms were bad. I was advised not to even drive it due to it being unsafe. He took me in back and showed me the control arms and explained everything thoroughly to me where I could understand. After making the repairs (which ended up being a very reasonable price) my sons car drove like it was new. Absolutely LOVE that he took the time to look over my car and kept my son safe. After the repairs. Had to have my vehicle towed to a dealership, because it couldn't be driven away. 3 weeks and $2000 later had it back. One repair that was done, broke within 3 months and cost me another $300 to fix with manufacturers parts not after market. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Minus 10 read more

Took my 94 mustang gt there to get 2 studs on the rotors. The following day I noticed the brake was rubbing and when I brought it back in to get it checked I all of a sudden needed an $800 brake change which is basically $700 in labor!! Never again read more
