I *only* take my car to the Performance Auto Center in Elk Grove since these are the only guys I trust - they are fair, reliable, and always get the job done. This was too far for me to travel to with what was going on with my car and being in Naperville ... but I saw on their website they have a location in Plainfield - not far from where I was at. I came in without hesitation. Everyone was super friendly. The manager, Pat, was so kind and knowledgeable and saw me right away. I was in and out within an hour... they even gave me a 12% discount. So I don't know what's with all the negative reviews. I called asking for a quote for an oil change and scheduled an appointment for later that day with no problems. Once I got in they took care of my car right away. The mechanics at the front desk were all friendly and I paid what I was quoted. The only reason I didn't give 5-stars is Bc they weren't wearing masks. Granted I was, and so were the other customers-- but as a nurse during these COVID times, I was a bit offended that the workers were not doing their part to stop the spread by wearing masks... at least at the reception area. read more

THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS!!! Dont come here unless you want pat the bald loose-cannon child to tell you that youre at fault for the shops mistakes!! I spent thousands of dollars here just to be treated like garbage. I purchased every suspension component for the rear on my car and had them install it with the alignment and they never did the alignment! The extreme camber from no alignment destroyed my tires and the "ex tech" buffoon pat said that its the way the car is made and i drive the car to aggressively? Are you in the car when im driving?No. He then contiously yelled at me over the phone and we had a full blown argument and back pedaled when he found out i was right. when i came back for them to realign my car the didnt even properly tighten two of my suspension arms and they are so childish they took my rear sway bar! When i called to let them know pat, the bottom of the barrel service advisor was rude and wouldnt work with me even though they are the only people who have worked on the vehicle before and said someone stole it. That's hilarious. Go to a real shop that cares about their customers and their safety. Having a bad alignment and loose arms is a hazard and this shop should not be in business. read more

I am having a really hard time understanding all of the positive reviews; maybe they were all written by friends and family. I am new to the area and took my car here for the first and last time when my AC started blowing hot air intermittently. They did an AC recharge and cooling system service and happened to find that my left axle boot was leaking. They recommended I change the inner and outer boots and leave the axle alone as it would be an expensive fix. As I am a healthcare provider and not a mechanic, I trusted them to find the issues with the ac system and replace the left front axle boots. Well, fast forward a couple weeks later, my ac stops working and my engine runs hot. I can't drive the car without it overheating so I find another mechanic closer to me. They run diagnostics on my car and said it was never your AC system, it is the radiator. It's really hard to miss the problem as it's visibly saturated with sludge and mud. Then they take a picture of that and my left front axle boots which they said need replaced. This place charged me over $800 for " fixing" my AC but overlooked my radiator then charged me for replacing the inner and outer axle boots which didn't fix the problem and the outer boot was still cracking. Aside from this, if I needed both the axle and the boots repaired, I would rather take it to a place that may charge more but will actually fix my car. I want to take my car back there and have them fix the axle boots since the parts were under warranty, but I don't trust them. Neither problem I needed addressed on my car were fixed. I am out over $800 and stuck renting a car once again until my car is actually repaired by an honest mechanic. Please save you DON'T COME HERE unless you like wasting your time and money. read more

I decided to give them a try instead of taking it to the dealership. $270 (all-in) later I had my brake lines flushed, a 4 wheel alignment and a synthetic oil change. Decided the 20 minute drive was worth saving over 25 dollars on a synthetic oil change. It does take longer than a quick lube place. But the quick places wouldnt have told me about my rear tires having about 1k miles left or how my belts were cracking. The tires you're thinking hey you have a spare.. but the belts are what is going too leave you stranded.. and God knows what a flying broken belt could do too other things...their 28 point check is a real 28 point check. There was also no hard selling on the repairs just a quote. read more

Poor service. They wouldn't quote the cost of anything over the phone; even simple maintenance items. So, I scheduled a drop-off just so I could get a price from them but they asked me to wait in the lobby till I insisted it was a drop off. I had to state the make, model and year of my car four times during check-in. I waited even more while they took multiple phone calls while checking me in. They never called me later in the day to tell me my car was ready. I called 25 mins before closing and was told it was ready. I had to rush over before they closed only to find out they only did half the work. I left with my car and won't go back. Don't go here unless you are ready for frustrations. Upon reading the reviews, I chose to take my car to Performance Auto and Truck in Plainfield for a free break inspection. I am happy to add my high recommendation to the list of positive reviews and will be bringing my car here from now on for regular maintenance as well as repairs as needed. I was greeted warmly and professionally by Jeremy who built a great rapport with me while Steve, a Hyundai certified technician, and quite personable as well, worked on my Hyundai's breaks which he said were not in need of any repair but just a cleaning. However, he did discover that one of the rear calipers was leaking, which I was graciously shown. Gratefully they were able to order the necessary parts and replaced both rear calipers while I waited. These gentlemen made it so that I didn't mind paying for the unexpected repairs. I've been taking my car to Our Team for just over a year now. I've lived in Aurora for 6+ years and have tried a few different shops. None have been as honest as Our Team and none have gone as far out of their way to provide service above and beyond. I have a 2002 Honda Accord with 175k miles that needs all kinds of work. Brian has always been honest with us about what absolutely needs to be done and what can be safely put off until later, or even until we get rid of the car. It's good to have a mechanic who is not pushing you to get every last repair done and who completes the repairs on schedule. My most recent trip in was for a Check Engine light that was diagnosed a while back, but that finally needed to be repaired in order to pass emissions. Brian made sure they had the correct part in hand before taking the car from us. Since my previous visit another code had popped up as well. As opposed to pushing for a replacement of the part the technician was aware that with Honda's more often than not you only need to clean a certain filter / screen. This saved me a few hundred dollars. Our Team then took my car to the Air Team and passed my emissions test for me, now that's great service! All around friendly, great service.
