I brought my Jeep Wrangler in 59 Auto repair to review electrical issues. I previously took it to my Jeep dealership who insisted it was a battery issue even though each time the problem would reoccur. 59 found issue, corrected it, and charged me a very reasonable price. Was highly recommended to 59 Auto almost 5 years ago and have been a faithful customer since and I'm always up for supporting small local businesses. We've literally spent approximately $12k+ over the years between two different cars. This company started off great for the first 3 years and unfortunately has become more and more questionable and shady the last few times. With the most recent where I was very clear on what was going on with my vehicle and what the problem was (thermostat) which they (59 auto) had replaced just 3 months prior. Since the "master mechanic" failed to do his job they said they couldn't figure it out but charged almost $100 just for looking at it and nothing else. I went down the road to have another mechanic look at it and had it diagnosed and fixed within 45 minutes. It ultimately cost me $245.00 between 59's failure and the unnamed companies knowledge and knowhow. $245 that should've been $0 had 59 Auto wanted to honor the warranty on parts and labor. They've done this to me prior to regarding another part called an oil cooler which ultimately they fixed after telling me it was NOT leaking and my car had x amount of miles on it and leaks should be expected, "WHAT"? You're the mechanic, tell me the cost and fix it upon my approval. Anyways, they've lost a loyal customer and I will be telling anyone and everyone locally to avoid this place like the plague. read more

Once again, they treated me and my tired old car with very decent respect and professionalism. Had a problem that they quickly diagnosed for a very fair price. Because the part was rather expensive, even after searching for some less expensive options, I decided to get a used part from a junkyard and put it in myself (like I said it's a tired car and may not see to many more trips around the block). Their diagnosis was invaluable and they were nothing less than great in their efforts to help me out. I been to this shop a few times and they always do good work, but their price quotes are always off. Compare to few shops close by they are always 20-30 percent higher, they use good quality parts but parts are only warranted for a short length of time. For brakes and such is it worth it to use better quality or just good parts for cheaper. I like the work they perform, but i like saving money more especially on a older car. This will probably be the last time i go there simply because prices are just too high compared to other shops that is just as qualified. read more

13 months ago I had 2 radiator hoses replaced and coolant flushed at their recommendation. Last month saw coolant leaking on garage floor. Took the car to Blaine's Auto in Plainfield for the fix. Not knowing who did the work they said both new hoses failed and leaked at the clamps, one hose was an inch and a half too short - and were aftermarket parts. Since the work was warranted for 24 months at 59 Auto, I emailed them and expressed my dissatisfaction. That was 2 weeks ago - no response. I give this place 5 stars for good quality work, honest quotes and warrants their. I'm from Texas never been here before, I thought I know being a black man and from out of town they are going to rip me off. Boy, was I surprised the price was right and service was good. I spent approximately 600.00 that time. That was back in 10/2015. Since then I spent another 5500.00 I did have to come back for warranty issues for my power steering pump 3 times but they made it right. They lost my Business forever ! They wanted to charge me 630.00 to change co2 Sensor (B1, S1) . Approximately 140-150. Part . Service writer had the balls to tell me it's a 400.00 list part . Then when I complained his answer was ,"well we need to make a profit for our work". I've been a loyal customer for the last 19 years . I have always recommended them to family and friends . But the last few years I've notice a change in their business. They are gouging their customers for their work . I picked up my vehicle and took it to OXBO in Joliet . My total repair job was 190.00 . I SAVED MYSELF 430.00 . Oh I still got charge a inspection fee of 111.00 Even though I told them what the car needed . Took my 07 F-250 to the local Ford dealership for an oil change. They told me I had a transmission line leaking going to the radiator. They told me the cost to repair and I was shocked. So I started looking for an auto repair shop. Saw good reviews here on yelp for 59 auto. Took my truck in and they were very nice and they came to the same conclusion that Ford did. New radiator and hoses but for almost half the cost. They were not pushy. Laid out the cost and said think it over and give us a call. I just decided to do it. They said parts would be in Tuesday and they called Tuesday and said the parts were in. Dropped it off Tuesday night and they called Wednesday before noon that it was done and came in $70 under the estimate! I was surprised. Long story longer, i had an excellent experience with them and I would go back. I recommend 59 auto repair. To the guy that said it was highway robbery for the labor cost, what did you think? They were going to do it for free? They lay out the cost of parts and labor on the invoice. They don't try to hid anything. Just sayin... read more

I've been using 59 Auto since I moved to Plainfield 20 years ago. They are family owned and operated which I love. I know when I call or stop in they will treat me like a real person. I've Always found them to be fair on price and I trust that they will always give me honest recommendations on what's best for me and my vehicles. I also only use 59 Auto for Oil Changes. I was very thankful for 59 Auto Repair. My wife was driving on Route 59, and she had a incident where a large plastic bag became stuck under her vehicle. The folks at 59 Auto, assisted my wife, calmed her down, removed the plastics and inspected the vehicle to make sure the vehicle was safe to drive. When she went to checkout, the owner told her there was, to her amazement, no charge. They had to perfect opportunity to to do the wrong thing and take advance of a person in distress, and they did the right thing, and exceeded expectations. I took my car in for an inspection because my breaks would squeak a little and only for a couple of stops first thing in the morning, I was told I needed rear breaks and my rotors were too bad to be sanded down, they needed to be replaced. I took my car somewhere else and was called in to see for myself that my rotors were fine and I also could have held off on break pads, they were not nearly as bad as Dave described. I knew something was not right because on their webpage they mention they are digital and if they uncover an issue they will send you a picture, the only picture they sent me was of my warning light showing low tire pressure and a picture of my air filter. I do not doubt they do great work, but I prefer a auto repair shop that does great work and is trustworthy. Shame on you Dave! read more

My car was ready for me on time as promised. When I went to pick my car up, I was helped immediately by a friendly associate. He took, my credit card and handed me the keys. You never like taking your car in for a repair but this place has an honest reputation. They do good work in a timely manner with honest prices and their best quality is probably their constant communication via texts and email as well as phone call. They also were able to take care of all of the communication with my warranty service . The only downside is that they are often packed full and it is difficult to get a last minute repair in day of. read more

We took our car in to get the engine light fixed we told them what we thought was wrong and they said they fixed it. About a block away it turned back on so we went there again and yet again they said they fixed it. We were not even out of the parking lot and it turned back on!!! We went back in and told them it keeps turning back on. They said they did test drives and it wasnt turning on. So we sat in the lobby to wait and we saw a mechanic drive our car along with two others into the shop like a mad man!! So now we are back for the third time, have already paid about $520 and it's still not fixed also the man by the cashier is rude. We asked about our bill and he was getting all upset with us saying well most of it was on the labor. But.... Why are we paying for labor that obviously was not done right. read more

Being the day after Labor Day and realize it is a busy day BUT after calling 7 different shops local to my area this place really helped to accommodate me getting my oil changed quickly. This place is unbelievable. We were on our way last year to ISU for our daughters concert when the serpentine belt blew. We got off the highway and called AAA. They had us towed to 59 Auto Repair. They replaced the tensioner and belt in no time. Great service and prices. We were able to make the concert with time to spare. I was given a price that was over $100 cheaper than the dealer. :D No problems with work done and my car was finished when promised. Staff was friendly and helpful. Tom K: You didn't do your research ahead of time and realize that you could do the work yourself. This is not 59Auto Repair's fault. This is a business and they need to pay employees, overhead, etc. $232.27 doesn't seem like much for labor in a garage. Depending on the type of car you have it may take more than an hour and the belt may have been shot, too. read more
