*DO NOT GO HERE FOR TIRE REPAIRS* GO TO BELL TIRE ACROSS…read moreTHE STREET I came here last year after getting two nails in two separate tires. I was told one tire was repairable and the other was not. When I asked to see the "unrepairable" tire, I was shocked--they claimed a nail in the center of the tire couldn't be repaired. That made no sense, since the center tread is actually the best area for a plug or patch. They then said that while shaving the inside of the tire to apply a patch, they found exposed steel wire. They blamed the nail, but the nail wasn't nearly thick enough to cause that. I pointed out that the wire was showing because they shaved too much rubber off. Their response? "We need to shave it down to assess whether it's repairable." So they shaved my tire until the steel belts were exposed, then told me I needed to buy a new tire. Convenient. This was a one-year-old tire. I ended up having to buy a replacement. When I asked to keep my old tire, they were oddly reluctant, but I eventually got it back. Fast forward to this year--I get another nail and return because the tire I bought from them was still fairly new. Once again, they say it's not repairable. I asked why. The technician said their square internal patch was too big and would slightly touch the sidewall. I asked if they could trim or modify the patch--no. I asked if they used tire plugs instead--also no. How does a tire shop only have one repair method? I then pulled out the tire they shaved down the year before (which I still had in my trunk) and asked the technician if that tire was repairable. He immediately said, "100%--that's the easiest spot to patch." I laughed and told him that this exact shop told me last year it was impossible. He looked shocked and brought it to the manager, who also agreed it looked repairable. They tried again and came back claiming it couldn't be repaired because there was "wire next to a plug." Tires do not come with factory plugs, and I never plugged that tire myself--nor did Discount Tire ever plug it. When I looked at what they called a "plug," it was clearly just rubber. At that point, I had enough. I asked them to put the tire back on with the nail still in it so I could go home. Guess what? I plugged it myself with zero issues. Bottom line: Discount Tire told me--twice--that my tire was "not repairable," and both times they were wrong. This place just wants to sell tires. Save yourself the headache and go across the street to Bell Tire instead.

Cassidy Tire & Service on Ogden in Downers Grove is a happy place. I had an excellent experience…read morethere yesterday, 11/1/2024. Sam made my day! I am extremely pleased and happy. I highly recommend it. My dealer quoted $206 for my very small car issue. I know absolutely nothing about cars, but deep inside I suspected something fishy. So I went to Midwest Auto Shop in Downers Grove where I worked with them with my last 2 cars for decades. Rick @ Midwest recommended me to see Sam @ Cassidy because Midwest doesn't do the specific issue of my car. So, I crossed the street and met with Sam @ Cassidy. Obviously, Sam is an outstanding manager and a great team leader. He is friendly, professional, polite, respectful, kind, and he cares from his heart. Sam's worker is thorough, professional, skillful, and very quick in his service. This Cassidy office is also orderly and clean. I was impressed. Shockingly, shortly after Sam's worker examined my car thoroughly, Sam told me there was NOTHING wrong with my car and there was NO CHARGE. WOW! He didn't even rightfully charge me a small examination fee. And he declined my offer of buying him and his worker a cup of coffee (There is a Dunkin Donuts across the street.) Sam is definitely a man of integrity and honesty which is rare in the car repair business,... just like the Midwest Auto Shop in Downers Grove that I trusted for 2 decades. Thank You, God... Thank you, Rick... Thank you, Sam and team. You guys are like a shining light on the hill. You treat your customer like your own. Sam, you are THE BEST OF THE BEST. I am truly grateful for all you did for me and my car yesterday. I surely will spread the praise report among my friends. I have already posted my happy, surprised encounter on my Facebook where I have 1,500 friends. LOL After I finish this review, I will also write a praise review on BBB. You deserve all the praises I can offer you. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. You made my day yesterday. I feel safe to trust my car in your skillful hands and your honest heart. God's Overflowing Blessings, Lulu Your 101% happy and satisfied customer

Chris greeted us and was friendly and professional. He was very transparent about time and gave us an estimate on how much it was going to cost before they started on my car. I was impressed by their attention to detail, as they found a couple of other issues that needed to be addressed. I appreciated that they didn't pressure me into getting the additional work done right away. Instead, they took the time to explain the issues to me in a way that I could understand and told me my options/how long I could go without having to get it done.

Out of town guests had a flat tire on Monday (day after Easter) and told them to go to Firestone Hinsdale when they told us other places quoted them 3-4 days to fix. Firestone Hinsdale said they could have the tire fixed by the following day/Tuesday if we paid an extra fee to have the rim personally delivered to Firestone, which we did. Tuesday rolls around and we were told the tire and rim would now not be ready until Wednesday but assured us Wednesday morning it would be ready. At 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, we had hear nothing so called and were told the rim was "10 minutes away and the tire would be ready within an hour after the rim arrived". TWO HOURS later we still had not received a call that the tire was ready. So we called and were told the rim took longer than expedited to arrive and they have no control over what information they were given so that was their third party contractors fault. He then went on to say they were very busy now, there were several customers ahead of us but they could make sure the tire would be ready some time today. When he was kindly (I was in no way being rude) reminded of the numerous different time frames we were given, he became quite irritated with me, and at no time was an apology ever given regarding the delays but quite the opposite. Excuse after excuse was given that he cannot be responsible for problems caused by their third party contractors (but yet never called us to let us know the part was delayed despite the additional fees we paid to expedite it), that we are not his only customers, and they "cannot just stop work on the other customers who have appointments" in order to fix the tire. I explained we were not expecting special treatment and that our appointment was actually two days prior. We were expecting the work to be done when originally quoted and even then when an additional day was added on we were not upset at all. We are reasonable people. But by day three and timelines quoted continued to repeatedly not be met, no communication from Firestone unless we called them, no apologies for the repeated missed timelines, and then acting as if we were in the wrong for expecting communication and transparency of timelines, is when I decided our business clearly will be much more appreciated elsewhere from now on.
